I wanted a hot chocolate. I had to pay 3.50 for a lukewarm-room temperature hot chocolate, they didn’t have whipped cream(what kind of a coffee shop doesn’t have whipped cream) and it was served in a paper cup even though i told them i wanted it to stay. Very disappointed.

If you like your tea or coffee with an attitude then come here. I asked if the chai tea with Indian spices was prepared with dairy(well because when I traveled to India it always came with milk) and the grouchy guy says with an attitude, «it’s not that kind of chai.» Ok dude all you had say was no. Then when I didn’t jump and grab my tea when it was ready he said it again louder looking disgusted. Maybe it was just me, he seemed ok to other customers but I didn’t appreciate the ‘tude.

Good coffee. Quiet, hipster atmosphere. Plenty of seating. Good location just a few minutes walk from the Barclays Center.

I tried the cold brew here and it is pretty awful. The barista filled my cup to the brim with giant ice cubes and then filled in whatever gaps were left with cold brew coffee. I then went to add milk, but the container was completely empty and so was the half-and-half. The place was not busy at all so someone clearly was slacking at their job. Taste-wise, the cold brew was extremely watery and bitter. Sadly $ 4 down the drain. Seems like a chill place to study or read though.

Needed a quick pick-me-up after a long day walking around. This spot was on the way to Barclay’s and relatively empty to boot. Got a regular latte($ 3.50) and a Good Batch cookie sandwich($ 3ish). Coffee is your standard fare. Needed a bit of sugar to mask the heavy bitter taste. They didn’t have a lot of pastry options later in the day, so the cookie was my best option. Prepackaged and probably a bit old — it was still soft, but nothing to write home about. The spot itself has plenty of seating, though not really a warm nor invitiing place you’d expect a small coffee shop to be. Alright if you need a quick caffeine fix.

I stumbled across this semi-empty café in search of a place to crash and work this afternoon yesterday. While the individual tables are super tiny for laptops, the atmosphere is still conducive to a productive, laid-back work environment — that is, except for the music. The first barista had a great playlist going at a reasonable volume(90s r&b/rap classics i.e. Tupac, NWA, Maxwell, & more) — you could still focus/read without headphones. Then, he went on break and the following barista took over for him. What happened next? Hell ensued, no doubt. The volume level of that indie-rock-whatever he was blasting for 45 mins was SO unreasonable. One look around the café and the palpable annoyance/disbelief rang clear. On top of that, homeboy decided to loudly whistle off-beat to it all. Totally screwed with the vibes. The former barista returned and slowly transitioned back to his playlist when the other dude left, but by that point, most of the café had packed up and left. NOTE(s): I thought that my expeirence could be skewed based on music preferences but given the vibe of the café yesterday, no one really cared for the loud, abrasive rock mess. The first barista was also super nice! Oh, and the dessert tray looked super shady.

Only good if you like really dark coffee. I can’t drink this coffee. It’s too dark and tastes like Starbucks to me. Also, the coffee is not hot, it’s luke warm. I need my coffee HOT. I wish I liked the coffee because it is a cool spot. I like the music they play and the décor.

One of my favorite coffee shop, their latte is crafted with such quality and pair it with a yummy almond crossiant. CONS: I understand the owner ideal of no plugs but when I want to get work done for work. It becomes such a nuisance ! Please install wall plugs soon!!! Please please :-) Yours truly, Your regular customer.

Solid coffee. Tried the maple latte that was recommended and enjoyed it a lot. The space is small and the tables kind of cramped, but that’s pretty standard for the neighborhood!

So I Unilocaled a café with free wifi in the area and decided to try this one. After ordering my nearly $ 5 maple latte, I discovered this place has horrible hipster music and NOT A SINGLEPOWEROUTLET!!! What??? Just wasted my $ 5 for 15 min of wifi :-/ P. S. Don’t come here for pastry/desserts either. The pastry shelf is(see pic)

This is a solid coffee shop. I love the area – there are so many cute vintage/thrift shops and restaurants. It is convenient to get to(not too from Atlantic Terminal/Barclay Center). The décor is nice – simple and chill. The baristas are friendly. The coffee is pretty good. I met my friend here to do work and the wifi is great but the music was a tad bit too loud and therefore became distracting when I was trying to have a conversation with the person right in front of me. I got a cappuccino with soy milk and it was pretty good. I would recommend Gorilla Coffee if you’re in the neighborhood.

The thing that held me back from giving this place 4⁄5 was there drip coffee policy: NODRIPCOFFEEAFTER11AM. Who does that? Instead, they serve tea and espresso cups. Weird. The vibe is great though. Nice location. Interior has a chill design. Wood floors. The things you’d expect for a hip coffee shop. Good wifi. Will I come back? Probably, but will give some other places a shot around this neighborhood first.

We were early to brunch, so we stopped in for some morning joe. The line was pretty long, it went around the store. The shop is pretty cute, has gorilla merchandise on the walls and it vaguely reminds me of Bape. Coffee is average price: $ 2.50−3.25. I got a macchiato, and was surprised when it came in a small espresso cup. This is a macchiato? My friend got a large latte and we sat down to enjoy our drinks. The coffee is good, I like how they have brown sugar and soy milk options for those who prefer healthier alternatives to milk and sugar. Definitely a good place to grab coffee or meet with friends, will be coming back soon.

I’m not great at deciding what coffee drink to choose since I tend to be a tad picky. I told them what I like and they recommended the Maple Latte. Perfect choice! It was delicious! Great atmosphere & music.

I come here every weekend for coffee as I live right next door. Excellent quality coffee and great service from the baristas. Feedback to the owner, which definitely doesn’t impact the quality of this establishment: it is very uncomfortable for customers when you are behind the counter berating your employees. The store was busy yesterday morning and the owner was behind the counter, jumping in to «help» but was actually throwing off the flow, and saying very rude things to the barista. I felt inclined to write this review because a) coffee shops get busy, customers understand b) speaking very negatively to your workers in front of costumers makes everyone uncomfortable and is more likely to cause people not to return rather than a line. They were working hard! Save feedback for behind closed doors(unlike this public review which probably also feels uncomfortable).

Typical hipster coffee joint. REALLY good coffee and tea. I got the organic berry tea and it was great. My boyfriend got the maple latte and I tried that as well — amazing. He definitely won the better drink contest, but I didn’t complain. The tea was $ 3.75 and the latte was $ 4.25? I think. The total was around $ 9 with tip. A little steep for coffee and tea, but very similar to Starbucks’ prices. The service was pretty fast. It’s a small place so there wasn’t anywhere to sit, but we claimed a red bench right outside. Decent coffee shop; I would go back if I’m looking for a «coffee treat.»

My friend raved about this place and I am a crazy coffee fan. I wanted to get the Peruvian beans since they make great coffee, but she made me get the Colombian. I finally got 2 Colombian and one Peruvian pack of whole beans and one cup that says Me(heart) Brooklyn with a gorilla in it. Damage $ 70. Damn, this thing better be amazing. And it was! once I brough the beans back to LA, I opened the Colombian and grind and brew them that very moment. It was such a delicious cup of coffee! I was so happy I got it. Every morning is all about the whole beans, fresh water and major heat and pressure, oh and me! They give a FREE cup of coffee with each packaged coffee purchased. We got 3, one for each and it tasted great, it was the Brazilian one. Drink that one black.

Very hip coffee shop with good coffee at great prices. My favorite this about this place is the ample array of seating. I’m so tired of finding places that make great coffee but I can’t find a seat. This place has a good variety of stools, tables and group tables to fit a large group, a couple or just yourself. Music is is chill but bouncy a mix of indie acoustic and relaxed electronic music. The décor is red with a style playing off the Che Guevara stencils you see on everything. Probably to reference the South American origin of the coffee. Staff are also friendly and cool. :) Hot chocolate is delicious. Coffee is strong. I want to try the maple latte next!

I was very excited to be back in the area so I could get a cup of their iced coffee. I should have know something was up because the place was empty. What a let down! First cup was extremely light and watered down second cup was marginally better. For $ 4 I expect to taste the coffee Unfortunately this will be my last visit to gorilla coffee

Gorilla ist eine Art Institution in Park Slope. Kleiner als Tealounge und Red Horse, ebenfalls Wifi. Soweit alles super. Manchmal wartet man etwas laenger. Dann wenn die Leute bis raus auf die Strasse stehen und ihren Kaffee wollen. Den Kaffee den man hier trinkt, kann man auch fuer zu Hause kaufen.
