This review is just for the sweets. My friend recommended this place to me when I asked her where I could get jalebi for another friend whose always wanted to try it. This place is pretty easy to find, you can’t miss it. Once you walk inside there’s a buffet of hot foods out and next to it are displays of rows of sweets and pastries. I already knew what I wanted to pick up from here but I spent a while looking at all the options they had. They had 2 kinds of jalebi an orange reddish one and a honey colored looking one. The guy working behind the counter is a sweet, adorable old man but there’s a bit of a language barrier here, I tried to ask the guy if there was a difference in taste or something between the 2 but he couldn’t understand what I was saying so I ended up getting a mix.(I didn’t taste any difference between the two). My major issue with this place is the seating area doesn’t appear to be the cleanest. I’d like to try their hot foods but I’d probably take it to go. My friend recommended a list of sweets for me to try based off of my taste in American and Asian sweets so I’m looking forward to coming here again and trying their other desserts!

Horrible behavior by staff. Rude and disrespectful. Staff do not know how to treat costumers. There is a particular lady that works there who has been extra nasty the two times we have been there. Would never go back

Food is so cheap and tastes really good! No restaurant in nj can compete, try the lamb chops and channay. Service is also very decent

Hi. I love gourmet sweet. I just got introduce to this place 3 months ago. This place is very welcoming. The staff is very nice and polite. The place feels like home. I placed ordered for food this week for my church vacation bible school. I have given specific instruction on how the food should be as it was for kids and they did a great job. Everyone loved the food. I have already placed another order for comming sunday again. Their boneless chicken tikka are to die for. So delicious yummy. I want to eat it now lol. If you are around Gourmet you have to go eat some. I also love their kulfi. Yummy. Got into a habit of eating ever weekend. Amazing food great taste. The staff is very nice specially iqbal, Imran and servarbhai. They are very helpful and very caring. Love the food you should definaltely try it atleast once.

I passed this place so many times, and never tried their sweets. They offer kind of a mix between cakes and very sweet candies, which taste different from anything I ever tried. And the funny part is that as good as some of them tasted, so bad others did. I know that I am not Pakistani, and I am not used to their tastes and flavors, but I can say that it was an interesting experience, trying new food from a new place. My review is from the point of view of someone who stepped in with no plans, and without knowing what to expect. The prices are very low, and the amount of people there probably testify about the quality of the sweets in this place. So if you are happen to be in the area, and you would like really different tastes, give it a try. But at the same time, it doesn’t matter if you are from here or from someplace else, customer service should always be on the first place, so I guess they could do a better job teaching the people who work there to be more polite, so I giving them 3 stars for the sweets, and 0 stars for the service.

I’ve been coming here for years, just never got around to writing a review. As most Unilocalers and Pakistani cuisine enthusiasts would agree — this is your average, no frills, neighborhood Pakistani food joint. Nothing here to call home or file a complaint with the DOH about. Food is fresh, most of the time. My usual is the curry and naan with a kebab or two. My waitress from the last visit was very cordial and so were the behind-the-counter staff. Again, if you’re from out of town and are looking authentic Pakistani food then this is it.

A little slice of Pakistan! I loved it. We had chat of varying types: samosas, some roasted veggie curry, nan, and my friend had two sweets. The only unpleasant thing was the gulab jamun… we usually love it almost anywhere. She said it tasted fishy and had to spit it out. :(I’d give it four stars if not for that. But the chai and rest of our experience made up for it! The people working there were super helpful and gracious. We will be back!

Sweets are good and Kheer is off the hook. Need to improve customer service skills though. Last time when I was there, two desi aunties«waiters» were fighting over TIP and whole resturant was enjoying their conversation.

The low rating on this one comes 100% because of the absolutely nasty waitress that’s always there. We have eaten at this place a ton of times, and love the food and atmosphere, and even traveled over an hour from the Bronx to get some legitimate Pakistani food, but we will never go again because of this horrible woman. I took a few friends there to get some food, and we ordered a LOT of food, probably enough for 7 or 8 people even though there was just 3 of us, because i wanted to have a lot of leftovers to bring home for my husband for lunches for the week. Towards the end of the meal the lady came and tried to start clearing things away, and i very specifically told her«please pack everything up for us to take home, even the salad(free appetizer thing), she started to do so, but then one friend wasn’t done eating so she asked her to just wait a few minutes. About 10 minutes later when the lady came back, she said«are you done?» I said yes, please don’t forget the salad. She took everything away and threw it all in the garbage. When i realized she wasn’t coming back with our food i said something and she flipped out. Said that i told her to throw it all away, and that it’s gone now and there’s nothing she can do about it. On top of everything her attitude is just the worst, she acted like i was being unreasonable for being upset that she threw away at least $ 30 worth of food.

Decent Pakistani food, qeema naan is my favorite. The falooda isn’t so good but the ras malai is great. As far as grilled food is concerned, mithaas has options and food better than gourmet. Mithais are good too but certainly nothing to be writing home about.

Went there to try out some sweets. They have pretty much run of the middle stuff. They didn’t even know what rubrry is(not many carry this delicate sweet). There entrees and appetizers looks good, but I was there was there for sweets only

I went one rainy night with my in-laws. We were the only native English speakers, which is generally a good sign. The waitress spoke a little English, enough to order something but not enough to get detailed descriptions of the food. That was fine for my husband and me, since we’ve eaten a lot of Indian/Pakistani food before but harder on my in-laws. The food was good and random chaats were just brought to our table(awesome!). Nicely spicy, definitely authentic, and a decent amount of food – plus the bill wasn’t very much for four people. The sweets were interesting too. My husband and I will definitely be going back.

Even tow the staff is cero friendly, and had a basic, super basic level of English, the food is quiet tasty for those who like spicy food and is actually really affordable. The sweets are the main thing here. I’m not familiar with the names of the pastries but in the entrance you can see a big counter full of sweets that you can buy per pound, so you can actually make like your own sampler. They sweets are really good and actually I start to like indian and Pakistani cuisine thanks to this place. My favorites here are a dessert call Faluda and the Rasmalay… I have being in many Indian restaurants but no one has as good Faluda and Rasmalay as this one. They are open 24⁄7 so for a night looking for something different and out of standards this could be a good option. It’s defenetally a take out spot and be patient with the staff, because You may have to use lots of body language to get your things.

The Chicken Kebab and naan are a buck a pop, fresh made, very tasty, chickpeas + lentils are awesomely spiced, way more interesting spices than average Pakistani cab stand. Cheap, fresh, spicy, filling, awesome place all around. I get two meals for 8 – 9 bucks.

A popular restaurant because they serve authentic Pakistani food at very reasonable prices.* Service can be a bit slow and not being from Pakistan sometimes seems to slow things down even more(and is the reason I go there less than I used to). *75 cents each for samosas, $ 1.00 for a chicken kabob that is served right from the fire as is the naan. Great spices but if you get heartburn, bring the antacids with you!
