Visted New York, my wife’s cousin took us to this place. I have to say, I was a bit skeptical, thinking the food may not be that fresh, but the food was fresh and the service was wonderful. We ordered Gyro Wrap with Lamb & Beef. If you are in this area, it a must, if you like Middle Eastern type dishes.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice… And so it goes. I got sick form the food here one time. I blamed them obviously. But then, perhaps due to sun stroke or sleeplessness, I went back months later! The food tastes okay. Like every other Middle Eastern grub joint in the city it’s chicken over rice with a few«salad items» and yogurt sauce. Nothing fancy. Standard fare. They scoop it up, slop it in a styrofoam container, squirt whatever sauce you want, you pay, you leave. The health Inspection sign on the window reads«A», but that’s for cleanliness I suppose. They got that going for them. It’s definitely not for the food, which terrorizes your digestive tract mere hours later. And forget about doing something the next day, unless, of course, there’s a bathroom nearby at all times. Their dessert is a blessing. It consists of continuous belching from the tainted chicken you just consumed. You’d be better of scraping gum off the nearby subway tracks for food.

Absolutely the very best gyros on this planet! I come here from Jersey City for them! Worth the two hour trip via public transit!

Like many halal carts, Gyro King offers a choice of lamb or chicken over rice, with white sauce or hot sauce. In addition to providing a spot to enjoy these items indoors, Gyro King has big culinary advantage over the carts in its variety of vegetables. There are multiple salads, hot peppers and chick peas available. This is an excellent deal at $ 6.50. It’s just steps away from the Newkirk Plaza B/Q stop.

I can probably live off this for the rest of my life. Very good halal and I’m very particular about it. I always get chicken and lamb over rice with tomatoes and cucumbers but will get the occasional tilapia #treatyoself. Very friendly staff but I think the guy hates it when I pay by card($ 10 min btw).

Delicious fresh filling food for super cheap. The folks who work here are very kind and attentive. This place is great to grab something on your way home or pop in to sit down for a quick bite before that long train ride. A plus that the men haven’t made me feel uncomfortable, yet.

I am a total fan. I am addicted. My family comes from out of town, and this spot is the«go to» for fresh chicken and lamb. I only get the gyro platter, mixed(chicken and lamb) or chicken only, side salad and a drink. Best prices ever. You can get one meal(eat two times) and a drink for less than 7 bucks. Clean. Nice staff. Yummy fresh meat.

The choices are pretty basic, but anyplace that fries the falafel to order is awesome in my book. Delicious in a pita with fresh veggies and extra parsley Friendly service also!

A great gyro gem with friendly service and good food. The veggies are usually fresh and good. Chicken tikka is also worth it if you can wait.

Gyro King is awesome. I don’t know exactly what kind of meat it is, I am told it’s chicken. I am old it’s lamb. It could be circus animal for all I can the food is excellent. The setup is simple you can have fish, burgers, or whatever but the main reason is the Halal lamb chicken combo and yes get the soda; soda use to be free but with Obamacare we knew the going would be tough so now we gotta pay for the drink. There are a few tables so you can sit & enjoy the deliciousness and they have a T.V. showing CNN which is in a way ironic cause it appears to mostly broadcast fighting in the middle east. Kind of weird watching ISIS fighters spewing hate, while my buddy Muhammad is happily slicing the gyro. The only jihad here is to stay awake after eating a gyro Gyro King everybody is sleepy with bellies full of gyros Could Chicken /Lamb combo plate bring peace to the middle east?

How do you not have anything that is displayed on the menu in the restaurant? My first time here and they told me I had to wait 10 minutes to get my order, yet they served the customers who came into the store after me. The employees behind the counter were rude and they couldn’t understand our order. Finally, we had to take whatever was available, paid them and left because they were taking up so much time. Even if it’s halal food, the people are not so halal when they treat hungry customers like they are peasants. They don’t understand that it’s not the customers who need them, it’s THEM who needs us customers!

I ate here before and after an organ recital nearby. After a very long day of work and a long subway ride here, Chicken & Lamb with Lettuce & Tomatoes & Pepperoncini & Onions and White Sauce really hit the spot. Then after a great concert and before a long subway ride home, Falafel & Pita with Chickpeas & Cucumbers and Green Sauce was just what I needed. Nothing was exceptional, but also nothing was horrible. A-OK.

I went here on a whim as I was hungry and looking for a cheap lunch. A lamb gyro for 4 $ with a soda(or a water), you can’t beat that. The staff was extremely friendly and the food tasted really good. A huge plus is that you can pile as much veggies etc. on your pita as you want! this made it a pretty large meal for me and tasted sooo good. Like a quite healthy and luxury version of the foodcart lamb gyro. I will definitely return the next time I’m hungry in this area.

Tried it the first time last Monday and I wasn’t disappointed. I got a lamb gyro with pita bread which was huge and I was able to eat it on the train without creating a mess. Well wrapped! Though the lamb(ground meat) was good, next time I’d rather try the chicken. All the ingredients were very fresh and the staff very nice.

Several people in the neighborhood had urged me to give this place a try and tonight I did. As they had told me in advance, the people who work here are very friendly, the restaurant is clean and the food is quite fresh. I ordered a lamb gyro without bread(my latest soon to be history attempt at eating healthier). The server asked me if I would rather have salad with it. I said sure. What I did not expect was that it was now a $ 6 instead of $ 4 dinner. Also they have a suspicious sign that«per board of health» the restroom is for employees only. Don’t think I’ve ever heard of that BOH regulation before!

Delicious Falafel sandwich, though I find the construction a little difficult to eat: they don’t cut the falafel to make a pocket, they just pile it on and fold with foil. It’s a good thing they include a fork because eating it at least halfway through like a salad is a requirement. On the other hand, when I was able to pick it up, the two-ply«taco-style» wrapper held it together nicely. I guess i’m undecided on this. The staff was friendly and attentive. I’m vegetarian and I noticed they were warming the pitas for sandwiches on the meat griddle with lots of loose meat pieces and juice flying around. I asked them if they could warm mine separately and he said«Vegetarian? Oh, ok, no problem.» He started a grill that was not being used. The way you order a falafel sandwich here is to ask for it, then specify whether yes, you want the salad or not, then sauces which include hot sauce, white sauce(yogurt), or tahini. I assume you could also specify extras from the salad bar such as peppers, tomato, olives, etc. It took a little while from order to completion, but for a good reason: they were frying the falafel balls fresh. They took a falafel dough container out of a refrigerator — always a good sign — and scooped the balls into the deep fryer while they waited for the pita to warm up. A nice addition to Newkirk Plaza.
