Ordered from Hophap for years and really liked it. Called the usual number tonight to order. When the food came it didn’t look the same and the portion was small. It wasn’t good(so maybe small portion was a good thing) and when I called the number back they said they took over from Hophap about a week ago. New restaurant. New cooks. Similar menu. Same phone number. But they don’t tell you that when you call so I have.

Had a lovely and quick lunch here at 11:45am on a Sunday. The restaurant was totally empty except for a few people who popped in to get take-out orders. Since I have absolutely no originality when it comes to Thai, I opted for the pad thai. It’s one of my favorites, and a decent measure of quality(if they can do something simple like pad thai well, it bodes well for everything else). Started with the five-star dumplings, which were good. Not the greatest I’ve ever had, but definitely tasty. The pad thai was out of this world. Flavorful and rich, and everything blended to perfection. I’m often disappointed when I get bland noodles in pad thai — Hophap obviously knows what they’re doing because the noodles had absorbed the perfect amount of the sauce and were delicious on their own. Would definitely come back here again(maybe when the place is a little more bustling!)

Good lunch special menu, very inexpensive, good size and there’s choice of soup or salad and appetizer. Friendly and attentive staff.

I’ve been here a few times for dinner. The food here is always good, very consistent. The service is always good and attentive. The restaurant looks very nice and has good ambience. It’s dimly lit and has a cool waterfall in front. Nice intimate space. It a good size. Not large but it’s not a tiny restaurant. The times I’ve been here I haven’t had to wait for a table. If you are in area and looking for good Thai without waiting to go to the super crowded, noisy popular spots then you should try here.

Came here for lunch, and it was ok. The menu was basic. Nothing to brag about, but nothing to really hate. Probably would never come back here.

It’s pretty disappointing to get your delivery(when you’re starving after a 35-mile bike ride but they couldn’t have known that so I’ll give them a pass on that one) and realize there’s a whole f’in eggshell cracked into your noodles. Nice tooth-grinding grainy meal experience there.

My toilet was not happy with me after having a meal here :(… My friend loves this place and recommended me to Hophap, so while I’ve read great reviews from fellow Unilocalers, I instantly bookmarked it and was excited to try it one day since I work pretty closeby. I have to say, my visit here was a tad disappointing. Ok fine, if you think thai food is only all about the pad thai… Then sure come here for lunch or dinner just for that. Because their pad thai surely is delicious. I’ve been to Thailand and normally prefer eating thai food in Queens… But I’ll give it to them for that, their pad thai! The red snapper fish is another good option to opt for here. Most thai places either overly fries them where the fish flesh is dry or overly crispy… And nobody likes a dry fish… But hophap’s fried fish was delicate with a nice crisp to the skin! I also loved how they already debone and cut em in chunks for you already yet still nicely place it on the fish for presentation. Thanks to our waitress for recommending that! … Even though she seemed new to her job. Here is what sucked besides the fact me & my boyfriends stomach was so upset after a meal here that we both had to take turns with the bathroom everytime… –The crispy duck on my pad thai was extremely dry. One of the few thai restaurants that are so cheap and skimp with the duck meat. Like c’mon the amount of carbs compared to protein on my dish was ridiculous –The calamari that people were claiming to be «the best calamari they’ve ever had in their life» is a little absurd. Clearly that person never had much calamari in their life. The batter was bland, it’s not hard to just salt and pepper the batter. Plus the type of batter was my least favorite. The squid was also very chewy. –Special of day; King Crab Rangoon. $ 6 for 4 – 6 small pieces. Honestly, chinese take-out crab ragoons are just as delicious except two bucks cheaper, with much bigger pieces and quantity. «King crab» meat is non existent in taste/feel.

Ordered delivery on a Friday night around 10pm. It came in less than 30min and still piping hot! I ordered the Pad Woon Sen which was delish and very fresh ingredients! Also ordered the Crispy Spring Rolls which were good. This is my new go to Thai restaurant!

Hop hap is amazing! We ordered delivery from here probably four times before going in-person to the restaurant. Delivery was always fast and consistently delicious. Lunch specials are absolutely unbeatable — comes with an appetizer, salad/soup, and your entrée of choice. Highlights include the green curry(spicy!!!), spring rolls, fried tofu, pad see ew. Restaurant itself is pleasantly modern and unique, with a large waterfall machine thing in the front when you walk in. It was pretty empty when we ate there for dinner on a Thursday night, but it was nice to have a quiet and peaceful dinner. Basically, either order in or go in person — you can’t go wrong either way! We love Hop Hap!

I liked HOPHAP so much the first time that I decided to come here for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend and friends earlier this year. Although we had a big party, part of 18 to be exact the staff was able to serve us and handle the size of our party. I ordered the white lychee sangria and it was light, really refreshing, and crisp taste to it. On my side of the table, we ordered four different appetizers — Crispy calamari with sweet chili sauce — these were a lot tastier than the ones we had during the first visit. These crispy calamari was a lot more tastier. Triangle fried tofu with ground peanut & sweet chili sauce — pretty tasty, but could have used more seasoning. Rocket shrimp — I didn’t find this appetizer to be too exciting nor appealing, but friends wanted to try it. Golden curry puffs(chicken and potato served with cucumber chili sauce) — I really enjoyed these because it was seasoned perfectly, wasn’t too spicy, and everything just tasted perfect! Most of my friends ordered a class Pad Thai, a noodle dish, or curry dish. I actually liked my boyfriend’s dish very much and he ordered a Tropical Salmon dish which happened to be one of the specials of the day. The salmon was perfectly moist and the sauce was spot on! It sure felt and tasted tropical. Pad See Ew — I typically don’t order this dish, but I wanted to try something different and the verdict was that I actually didn’t like it. It just didn’t taste as delightful as I thought it would. I think next time I would just roll with a Pad Thai. My friends, boyfriend, and I really enjoyed the food at HOPHAP and the service was great and the staff was really accommodating. HOPHAP is probably one of my favorite and one of the better Thai restaurants that I’ve been to so far.

My boyfriend and I have eaten here twice most recently this past Monday and loved it both times. We have always been seated quickly and find the service to be attentive but not overbearing. The first time we went we both had the crispy duck(delicious!), This time we had appetizers and main dishes. To start we shared the calamari and the crispy net roll. Although both were great the calamari was the standout. Perfectly crispy and flavorful and not too chewy. For our main dish my boyfriend had pad thai with squid which he devoured and my pad thai with chicken was also one of the best I have had. This place also wins major points from me because every time we go our food comes out piping hot(you can see the steam coming off it). It is a really nice touch as you truly know your food came right out of the kitchen. This place also has a really good happy hour until 7PM.

Read some of my reviews and you will know that I LOVETHAIFOOD! My group and I originally wanted to go to Joya but it was a long wait… so we came here instead! And we weren’t disappointed. The place has some tables, but mostly benches, which is a unique style for a Thai restaurant in NY. Our waiter was very nice and gave us water right away, as well as a few recommendations. I ordered the green curry fried rice with tofu and vegetables. My group ordered pad thai, drunken noodles, and some seafood dish with lots of shrimp and mussels(I didn’t get to ask). We also got some appetizers, including green vegetable dumplings, fried tofu, chicken satay. The green vegetable dumplings were very good. I’ve had some that were very bland, but this is not the case. Fried tofu is overrated — but not just here, EVERYWHERE. It is TOFU, people. FRIED. It is nothing special. So I expected nothing special. And what did I get? Plain fried pieces of tofu with a dipping sauce. Meh. Unless you’ve never had tofu in your life, do yourself a favor and do not order these. They are not terrible, but they are nothing special. My friends liked their dishes. I cleaned off my green curry fried rice pretty easily. I asked for it to be extra spicy, and they made it extra spicy! A lot of places don’t add in any spice when I ask for extra. AWESOME!!! The drunken noodles were also asked to be extra spicy but his had minimal heat. Prices here are pretty standard with the rest of the Thai restaurants I’ve been to. Flavor-wise, probably also average with many of the other Thai places I’ve been to, but they get points for making mine spicy to my request. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. Someone saw that we were getting cold and even shut the window for us. I’m definitely a fan and will come back when I’m in the area!

Restaurant is probably the best Thai food in all of Brooklyn!!! First of all their food is amazing and delicious and sooooo full of flavor. Their lunch menu is also very well priced and includes so much food! You get an appetizer & soup or salad and an entrée. My fav things here are the lychee sangria, spring rolls, lettuce wrap, massaman curry, and fried rice. My husband loved it. He was amazed by their drunken noodles dish! I just love this place: even for dinner!

Of the neighborhood places, I find this is the best. Fastest delivery, hottest, most flavorful food. The chiang mai noodle soup is great. The beggars purse dumplings are kind of plain and bland but the other dumplings are pretty good.

Ordered the red snapper special. It was a bit too sweet for my taste. I also sampled the Pad Thai. It was decent. The place looks decent and could be a possible date spot.

I’m so disappointed to say that my beloved Hop Hap is slipping. Has been for awhile and now I’m pretty sure it’s time I find a new go to Thai restaurant. The food is just not as good as it used to be. My order has been messed up multiple times when I’ve gotten delivery and every time I’ve ordered the Spicy Basil dish in the last few orders it has been inedible because of the amount of spicy curry in the dish. It’s like they just dump it in there without tasting or caring. The corn patties we usually order have also become a soggy oily inedible mess. It’s been a good run Hop Hap but I am moving on.

I come from Seattle, therefore I am always on the look out for delicious Thai! And since, HOPHAP delivers to Metrotech I’m including it on my list for Metrotech spots. I have left work and taken the train one stop too to get to this yummy Thai spot. And I am very happy to have found it. I have introduced my co workers to this place too and everyone has finished with full bellies and smiling faces. A couple weeks ago we had some late nights at work and 3 of us ordered some delivery. I of course got the Drunken Noodles with tofu. One of my co workers ordered curry. Once, the food arrived someone smelled the curry and then once they tasted the curry they quickly called and put in another order. And there was no issue with getting one entrée delivered. Another time we were so busy we couldn’t leave for lunch. Even though I highly recommend sitting at the restaurant for lunch. It is a very calming atmosphere and the service is great. The lunch specials are easily one of the best deals in town. Lunch special is M-F 11 – 4. Your entrée comes with a soup or salad and an appetizer. They have specific ones to pick from. I get the veggie dumplings and I am happy I do ever time. For my entrée I normally get wooed by the Drunken Noodle but the Cashew Nut with tofu is also fantastic. I want to try the curries next since, they have had rave reviews. I am just a wuss when it comes to spice but I’m getting there.

Whenever I crave for deep fried red snapper I can’t think of a place other than HOPHAP. It is ideally located on Smith street in Cobble Hill. Nothing is eye catching or ornate with the restaurant’s interior design but they do have large space and some long tables to sit big groups. I’ve been here couple of times without reservation and we would always get seated in no time at all. As a matter of fact, last year’s gay pride weekend. Our group of 14 were accommodated here after we abandoned the restaurant nearby where we had reservation(unfortunately a rodent decided to grace the dining floor). The regular menu leans towards Americanized Thai palates. In order to experience hophap’s best, we always chose the chef’s specialties. The crispy whole fish red snapper with the tamarind sauce is just divine. Combine it with the seafood Tom yum pad Thai; a rice noodle sautéed with shrimps, squids, scallops and bean sprout with hot and sour lemongrass and Jasmine rice on the side complements your whole Thai dining experience. Especially with Pairing of a decent bottle of Chardonnay. Customer service here gets a high mark. I wish that they have a better bar where I can enjoy some of their mouth watering appetizers and cocktails without having to seat in the dining table.
