I’ve lived in Bay Ridge for seven years now and I’ve finally found a dependable (and affordable) hair salon with J. Taylor Salon. Joe is friendly, listens to what you want, and delivers every time. You really feel like you’re getting personalized service, which is more than I can say for some of the other salons in the neighborhood. He’s a true professional, and I look forward to my appointments every time. Thanks, Joe!

I recently moved to Bay Ridge and man, there’s just something about the gravity of this place that makes you want to shop local and support our small businesses. I was due for a perm refresh (yes, you can still get perms. No, Bay Ridge isn’t frozen in the ‘80s– and neither am I.) so, based on Unilocal reviews, I made an appointment at J Taylor.
Perms are an awful, stinky process but Joe & Stella capably teamed up and, three hours later, I left with gorgeous, bouncy, beautiful curls. Joe does excellent work. From the conversations I overheard, ladies drive a long way to go to this salon. I can see why.

Ive been going to J Taylor for a good seven years… which should pretty much speak for itself! Joe is a fantastic stylist and he always knows what you want and how to make it happen. Joe doesnt rush the creative process and my hair turns out great each and every time! It also helps that the atmosphere in the salon is always friendly and courteous. The staff is always eager to please and they always find ways to squeeze you in even if you call the day before New Years Eve wanting a cut and color. This salon is truly a rare jem.

Joseph Taylor is amazing. He gave me exactly what I wanted, and I can actually style it myself! He showed me how to style my new cut, and talked me through everything. He never tried to push any pricey products on me… or sell anything. We had a great chat while he worked. The place has a family– like feel. Everyone knows everyone there, and they all get along great. There’s no drama, or gossiping like in other high end salons. $ 40 for a haircut is pretty awesome as well! Oh, and his head massages he gives before styling your new cut is enough to give you goosebumps.
I will definitely be going back to J Taylor Salon!

Joe is a true hair artist. He’s attentive, very detail oriented and has made my hair look the best it’s ever looked! I started going to J Taylor Salon after a friend RAVED about his work, and she was right. His coloring skills are spot on– he figures out what you’re looking for even if you can’t explain it and gives suggestions and advice when you’re not sure what would look best. I’m very protective over my long hair and hate cutting it, but know that it needs to be trimmed and shaped to look it’s best. Joe was able to give me my long layers and remove about a year’s worth of dead growth without chopping everything off. I looked like me, but better. Thank you, Joe!

I have been getting my hair done by Joseph Taylor since the late 80’s. He is the most reasonably priced talented hair artist I have ever met. His coloring is awesome and I get stopped constantly by people telling me how great my color is. People are always asking me where I get my hair done and I am proud to tell them J Taylor Salon in Brooklyn!
