This place is the best. We have brought several people here over the years. Been coming there for 10 years and quality has never diminished. The burgers, shoe string fries, and buffalo wings(wing sauce is amazing) are the best. So flavorful. Goes great with a shake.

If you want a big, tasty burger in Park Slope, then this is one of the best places to be. The staff was helpful and the burguers are perfect, just go for it!

They serve my favorite cheeseburger in south slope! I don’t understand why this place isn’t more highly rated, each time we have been my husband and I love it. Their staff is really friendly, the atmosphere is warm and down to earth, there are games to play and they have a fun trivia night run by the owner. This is great place for families, groups, dates and friends.

Great beer and shot deal– $ 5. Highly recommend for good cheap beer and shot specials early in the evening. Pool table and great staff make it a solid choice for happy hour.

Loved it! Not sure where the negative reviews came from. In fact my wife and I stayed away from this place because of the 3 stars but tried the wings and the cheeseburger as well as a glass of Stella and Brooklyn Lager — ALL totally satisfying. The wings were fresh and plentiful. The burger was big and delicious and with the option of sweet potato fries made it exceptional. Plus a pool table and friendly staff, game night on Tuesday nights… we’ll be back. Thank you Johnny Mack’s for being our new local spot

I cannot for the life of me understand the bad reviews Johnny Mack’s is getting just because of a menu change. I get being upset if a favorite dish goes missing, and I’ve not been living here long enough that I was so wedded to anything on the menu other then the burger, which is the best I’ve had in Park Slope, and I think I’ve tried them all. And frankly, portabella burgers are passé. People: you need to come here because the food is just plain good. The baked clams rank up there with Don Pepes — they are great. And the same great fried chicken is still there; it just sits on a waffle. Have them hold the waffle. Add to solid, unpretentious cooking a really good cocktail list with a generous pour, super friendly waitstaff, and good music the fact that you can grab a table in the front room if you are not in the mood to combine kids with your dining: something not so common in Park Slope. Go give this place a try: I promise you’ll want to go back.

Haven’t been here since last winter but got to say I’m liking the new menu very much. The Alabama white wings & the Cuban sandwich were both new to the menu and really really good & the bottle of Preseco was not expensive for Park Slope. We will be back to tryout the rest of the menu, & Erin was very helpful.(In terminator voice) I’LLBEBACK!

Decent wings but nothing to travel for like they used to be. My car2go had an error parking here. Lots of kids jumping around, I don’t always like that on the weekends. Don’t go out of your way but go if nearby because there isn’t a lot if competition for what they offer. Theres a game room with a pool table/toddler base jumping and joystick arcades. Have fun.

WHATHAPPENED? to my favorite gilled chicken sandwich. I stopped in last week and was so disappointed with the«new» menu. I won’t be back till the old menu returns. How can you change a good thing.

This was my favorite restaurant and I was extremely disappointed when I went there and the menu was completely changed. They got rid of all the menu items I loved including the grilled chicken sandwich with the bacon and red onion, the quesadillas, and the calamari. Needless to say I probably won’t be back.

Are here on Saturday after the Brooklyn half marathon and was not very pleased. The wait staff seemed overwhelmed, rushing everywhere, and when we got our food it was not as we ordered. Didn’t seem as though they had prepared for the crowd from the marathon and the kitchen was in a rush to keep up with the orders, our was not the only one with mistakes. They made a small attempt to correct but also didn’t seem to be overly bothered either. Our main waitress was lovely but we had 4 different people wait on us over our time there. We have eaten there a few other times with big and small groups and had good service and food but this time was a let down, the last time was with the old menu and had many great things on it. Hard to say if we will try it again.

The only reason my updated review is 2 stars instead of one is because of the wonderful staff. My husband and I used to come here weekly and looked forward to our visits(I’ve been the«Duchess» here for quite a while). This all changed once they changed the menu. I cannot tell you how disappointed we were in the new menu. I didn’t think the place was broken, so why«fix» it? They took away every single one of our favorite dishes… my favorite salad(chicken pecan w/Brie and apple — loved it), the thin-crust pizzas, the sliders, the special finger paninis, the salmon sandwich, the quesadillas. For dinner I loved getting their fried chicken with honey cornbread and vegetable — it was delicious.(I can’t believe they replaced this apparently with chicken & waffles. I’m so sick of seeing chicken & waffles at Brooklyn restaurants trying to be trendy, I could scream.) And it sounds so simple, but they did a perfect grilled cheese sandwich, and we loved that you could pick from a selection of cheeses and add-ons — I thought their grilled cheese was much better than the blah ones they serve at nearby Meltkraft. And the fries! The fries before were great, but in the new menu you’re given a mix of «regular» fries and sweet potato fries. What if one does not want sweet potato fries? You only enjoy half the order? Another disappointment. They even got rid of our favorite dessert — a decadent warm brownie bite sundae. We also used to enjoy the tri-color ice cream sandwich. When we visited with the new menu, I think the only dessert choice was key lime pie. Of course by that point I was so annoyed with all the changes and losses that I’d lost any remaining appetite. I hate leaving Johnny Mack’s a bad review, as it has been a favorite stop of ours for years. I even tried to wait until we’d visited with the new menu a second time, but honestly we just haven’t been able to force ourselves to return. Before I felt like the menu was straight-up, tasty food, with a good variety of dishes — something for everyone. Now I feel like they’re trying too hard to gain a niche, more«foodie» crowd that will end up dumping them as soon as they find a newer, hotter, trendier joint. And while they’re courting those people, they may be losing some of their loyal customers(besides the bar crowd who only cares about the booze, naturally). Here’s hoping they see a strong enough resistance that they bring back some of the old menu. Maybe then we’ll return. Sorry, old friend.

The new menu has done away with the portobello burger. So there’s nothing that a vegan can eat at Johnny Mack’s except salad. Zip. Zero. Bummer. Walk a block down to Pizza Plus on 7th and eat great vegan Italian, then meet up with your friends at Johnny Mack’s.

Oh no! They have revamped the menu and all the things my kids and I like are gone :(. No more quesadillas, no more sliders, no more artichoke dip. As a vegetarian that hates portobello mushrooms, I’m outta luck. No kid’s menu. My monthly meet up with other parents & my kids will have to be moved somewhere else…

New menu. They ve changed the menu and added lots of new options but also took away some stuff we loved! We go to johnny macks because it is a super kid friendly place with great food and drinks. They also have video games and a pool table. The wait staff is always great and very accomadating! We went on sept 3 to try the new menu. I had the lobster club which was full of tons of fresh lobster. My husband had the steak frites which he really liked! My kids had new and improved chicken fingers BUT we all missed the old johnny macks fries!!! The new fries are a mix of regular and sweet potato shoe string fries. the old fries were just regular and you could get them spicy! We also had the pickle plate which was wonderful!!! We will def be back cant wait to tastemore of the new menu.

This place isn’t what I remember from back in the day. This place brings it now. Every time I step into this place these days, I think of one song. Return of the MacK! It’s back up in the game Running things to keep its swing Letting all the people know That It’s back to run the show ’Cos judging it from long ago was wrong And all the nasty things you’ve thought So, Unilocaler, listen carefully While it sing my come-back song Johnny MacK’s is a little gem on 8th avenue. Many neighborhood people still don’t believe me that Mack’s has changed. Their loss my guess. $ 3 happy hour drafts! Large shots being poured. Great service. And the food! Listen, I don’t like ordering Mexican food at a pub. When I want Mexican food, I go to a Mexican place. When I want pub food, I’ll order a burger, wings, things that you should get in a bar. This place makes some great Mexican food though. Don’t be scared to try it. The best thing about MacK’s is the location. Not much on 8th ave, and it’s super close to the park. So if you have an event to hit up at the park, this is a great option for before or after. Especially if you’re catching a concert. It’s real close to the 9th street entrance. Do your self a favor and get up in the return of the MacK!

I’ve had good experiences at this place every time I have come here. Been coming here almost 7 years, however the last time I came(Father’s Day) the food tasted not quite as good. It could have been an off night I haven’t been back since.

Love this place, food great, service is amazing and great outdoor dining weather permitting. I am actually sad to see that the restaurant is often not busy, they deserve to be busy every day. You know what they say, location location location.
