It’s a cool place to go grab a mixed drink with a friend at happy hour where you can just watch hipsters meet up with their tinder dates and see the awkwardness that ensues and they’ll talk about the cool tiles on the ceiling or the 99 cent store sign out front or the really nice bathrooms just to pass the time. oh yeah the cocktails are good.

Solid bar in a great area. I will definitely be a regular. They’ve got great happy hour specials and nice bartenders with great service. I didn’t try the food, but their menu looked like everything I could ever want and paired well with their draft beer menu. The prices are pretty good for what you get and for the area and the ambiance and environment is really laid back and versatile. This is a great place to bring a date or also just catch up with some co-workers after a long shift. They even have a projector that plays movies on the wall, in case your date is poor company. It’s really clean, new, and exciting and super easy to find. A quick walk from the subway and truly a wonderful addition to the area.

Such a great little bar– I make the trek from far out in Bushwick because the people are great, super diverse crowd, the music is good, and some nights there’s some crazy good foreign film being projected. It’s a super low key bar, good for conversation, and super unpretentious. Owners are both super nice. Great taste in music, film and Nadia behind the bar is very cool. I’m glad I found it!!!

I stumbled upon this place, literally, while lost in Brooklyn. I heard some Miles Davis from Kind of Blue down the block, but as soon as I came in the door they threw on some Dead Kennedy’s or some such thing. Or maybe it was Sid Vicious’s solo album — bunch of yammering if you ask me. The barmaid, Lizzie I think they call her, gave me the once over and I was fearful that I’d get bounced for not being Brooklyn hipster enough. My fears were allayed when she told me I looked like I could use a belt. I settled in at the marble bar and knocked back a peaty scotch that set my soul free. Turns out that the marble bar was crafted by some Native American/Italian American guy, who is Lizzie’s dad, or something. I couldn’t follow the story line so good since Morrisey was on the jukebox, moaning and groaning about this and that. I desperately needed another tumbler full of peat when the boss, O’Brien, or something like that, offered me a plate of the meltiest cheese sammiches I think I’ve ever wolfed down. He and I chatted a bit, and I told him I’d be back if they’d consider switching over to some Glen Campbell, or Tony Orlando & Dawn. He thanked me, and told me that he was sorry he wouldn’t be seeing me again.

Do you like drinking at a cool but unpretentious place that a lot of different types of people go to? Do you like grilled cheeses and nice bartenders and owners? Then go to June. It’s a great place to come with a few friends or even alone.

I don’t usually go out to bars, but when I do, it’s to a bar like June. I personally prefer to sit on my couch and drink myself blind. But occasionally I find myself forced to go out for a drink. I brought a date here once and it was great. Well it was for me at least. My date may or may not have been into it as much as I was. This might’ve been caused by the excitement of having a bar right next door to where I live. I might have gone all out and may or may not have tried all the drinks on the menu. At some point, I’m pretty sure my date just left me. But that didn’t bother me. I didn’t have a care in the world. Being that I knew I can just stumble home and not have to drive, take the subway, bike or hop in a cab to get home. There wasn’t anyone or anything that was going to stop me from getting to my happy place.

My favorite neighborhood bar. The owners are hands on and the décor is mellow and totally cool. Bartenders can make awesome drinks and most of all a nice all around place to have an occasional drink. bmcmanus

I heard about this place through a friend, and have now been 4 or 5 times. Great little spot off the beaten path. Also a good place to go on dates. In some ways it’s like a Speak-Easy with a Bushwick spin on things(Mainly because of the signage). Great Happy Hour Specials, a good selection of Craft Beers, and tasty cocktails. The bartenders come from all different types of backgrounds and are all very knowledgeable, so they’ll be able to answer any questions about the craft beers/cocktails or provide you with their own recommendation. Asides from that, if the owners are there they are more than happy to sit down and chat with you. Overall, friendly people. I recommend making your way out to try this place!

Beautiful bar… Very sophisticated finishes. Kurt the bar tender made me an awesome drink«the isle of liz». Only complaint wld be the music… Super punk rock. Not chill at all… I feel they wld attract a bigger crowd if the music was different. Punk rock is so specific… And a lil hectic for a chill bar setting. Also the boyfriend thinks u shld have a better beer selection… Also seating outside???

Awesome new bar — great bartender mixed us the best twist on Tom Collins, they played great music, and had a great vibe with friendly patrons. I love the hidden rat paintings, too.

It’s spring after all, and spring means new life and second chances, or some bullshit like that. With spring in mind I mosied around and came across this place– which I so harshly judged on my first visit. I opened the door, the music was only slightly too loud, but I cajoled the skunk dyed hair bartender to let it rest. I ordered a draft beer and Powers whiskey. That will be 16.00 dollars he said. I almost choked on my beer. What? I said. There must be some sort of mistake. The beer, you see, was 5 dollars on happy hour. So that makes the Powers 11.00. Wow. There was no mistake. I find it wonderfully ironic that this place, which has a façade of the 99 cent store, charges 11 dollars for a standard whiskey. I’ve never been charged that much for a Power’s, including the city at a venue! Asked what their well was, both tequila and whiskey, both bottom barrel rot gut. Turns out first impressions are right. I looked around and this place feels cheap, like a college town bar, in some backwoods town(and I am sorry Ridgewood doesn’t qualify). Nothing fits; from the tin ceiling with too much gloss sealer, the dive bar esque skulls spray painted on the bathroom door, the bathroom which looks straight out a public middle schools, the beach wood chairs, the crappy coffee shop tables, and the kicker — the stone tile bar — which looks like a bad Astoria façade. I don’t have an agenda, but they are giving me every reason. The only saving grace was the bartender, who was friendly gave me a bit extra, and played Otis Redding. Props to him.

Really nice people working there and awesome tile on the walls and ceiling. Just one note, the loud punk music is not doing it for me when the bar is pretty much empty and it is just you, a couple of others and the bartender. i would also put some candles on tables to make them seem as inviting as the bar area, which is very nice. Just my two cents. All in all though, a great bar and a good addition to the area. Looking forward to them doing some food(they mentioned cheese melts?). Go visit this spot, you will like it. Also, no tv which is a big plus :-) Also, I bet they will have seats outside in the Summer which will make it an excellent spot for weekend day-drinking!!!

Great bar, classic rock music, relatively quiet. There isn’t much around, but hopefully we can change that soon. A real place for the locals. Everyone here seems to be in a deep, philosophical conversation.

From a short distance, you could be forgiven for thinking June was a 99 cent store. That’s mainly because the awning above the threshold says«99 cent store.» In fact, it’s really only discernible as a bar by the small crowd of people fogging up the windows with drinks in front of them. On closer inspection there is music playing. This place is so new it actually kinda smells like paint and construction. So, another bar. Kind of surprised that it’s on St. Nicholas, which is very residential compared to the neighboring avenues. It feels spacious, welcoming. The 99 cent store plaster has been knocked out to reveal the old tin siding and molding, which are painted over. There are a few round tables, seats at the bar, and seats along the window. They serve a full bar and the prices are what you would expect, I think a pint of Lagunitas was six bucks. Briefly met the owner, who has a commendable beard. Edison bulbs line the ceiling. Strange catacomb theme happening in the walkway to the bathroom, like skulls painted everywhere. The bathroom itself is a big, brand new looking room. Kind of unsettling to walk passed so many skulls and arrive in such a completely unremarkable room. Also a bit unsettling: Who could have guessed in 2013 that there would be– not one, but– FOUR bars within one block of Menahan between Irving and Onderdonk by 2015? There has been a tipping point, and although I will not be the moral compass of these changes, I will say that– for better or worse– fascination is a gift that keeps on giving. Best thing about JUNE? They take credit cards and there is no minimum.

This bar is great. Every one was really friendly and the drinks are cheap. They take cards and have a great selection of beers and booze. It is going to be my new spot.
