Très abordable, assiettes copieuses et typiquement polonais. Le plat de grillade pour 2 convient parfaitement pour une famille de 4.

Being that I am Polish, I had to stop in Green Point and experience some of my favorite parts of my culture which is the food. We ended up ordering way too much from excitement which I deeply regretted. I tried all 3 soups(chicken noodle, borscht and pickle), salmon tartar, potato pancakes, stuffed mushrooms(which are not really polish) and goulash(also not a typically polish meal). From the soups, the borscht is the winner as the chicken noodle soup needed some salt and I always hated pickle soup. The potato pancakes were larger than I am use to but also very good. The salmon tartar was amazing and the goulash was tough and not spicy at all. Special shout out goes to the warm beer and warm wine which were perfect for the cold weather. Service and décor was family oriented and inviting.

I’m Polish and this is definitely one of the best polish restaurants and authentic polish food I’ve had in NYC. You must start with the«peasant lard» I know the name doesn’t sound very appetizing but trust me you’ll love it. Ask for white bread instead it brings out the flavor more. Then you absolutely must try the Oscypek smoked cheese… Amazingggg!!! White borscht served in bread is definitely the way to go! Now for the entrees. Everything is yummy from the kielbasa to the potato pancakes to pierogis. Service is quick and the décor has a cozy village feel. If you drink I recommend Zubrowka with apple juice. Na zdrowie!

This is the spot I take my polish father when he needs to feel at home again. There isn’t anything amazing about the spot itself, décor and atmosphere are nothing to write home about, but the food is plentiful and delicious. It’s not to be missed especially in cold weather.

This place is truly life changing! Loved it so much went back again the next day. The ambiance transports you back to Poland. They have a great selection of goodies — beer, spirits, wine, food. I was blown away by the White borscht in a bread bowl that also includes mash potatoes and bacon $ 5.50! Incredibly delicious and fantastic deal. The fried & boiled potato and beef pierogies were delicious(ask for sour cream). I didn’t care for the onion mushroom pieorgies. We ordered the sampler platter $ 13 and everything was great! The potato pancakes blew my mind. I love this place and I’m sure you would too!!! Get it now…

Portions are huge. Food is delicious. Value of place is a 10. Service(with waitresses rockin polish costumes) is great(and super cute). Ambiance is cozy and traditional. Drinks: We waited a few minutes at the bar so we ordered a Czech and polish pilsner. Light and crisp was what we wanted.($ 7 for large beer) mhmm App: My boyfriend and I started off with the white borscht soup in a bread bowl which came with mashed potatoes and panseared bits of heavenly bacon. PLEASEORDERTHIS. It will really not disappoint, creamy, acidic, potato chunks, seasoned with bits of sausage. One of the best soups I’ve ever had. Such a deal.($ 5.50) *P.S– Share the app, because you won’t be able to finish half your entrée. Main: Get the pork shoulder. It came with two 8 oz pork shoulders, basic fries, grilled zucchini and bell peppers with a side of BBQ sauce. The pork was seasoned as if it was steak! The plate was large and the meat was DELICIOUS.($ 11.50) We also ordered the sampler plate which consisted of traditional polish apps like the potato pancake, hunters stew, stuffed cabbage, and pierogis. Get this if you’re interested in trying a few different things. I would highly recommend coming here. Polish food never tasted so good for such good prices at a nice restaurant. 10⁄10

Your first impression of this place is definitely something along the lines of whoa! where am I? The décor is spot on(but tbh, I’m not sure what poland looks like) but I know it doesn’t scream hipster Brooklyn or upscale Manhattan. I liked how there’s so much space. you’ll know what I mean when you come here. Given all the positive reviews, I had to try the white borscht soup in bread bowl. At $ 5.50 and coming with a side of mashed potatoes, it’s definitely worth trying. It tastes like a slightly sour(in a good way) loaded potato soup. Even after sharing the bowl, I was pretty satiated. but 2 more entrees to go. My friend and I(Polish food no0bs if I say so myself) decided to split the Polish specialty platter and beef goulash. The platter wasn’t anything special. It just depends on your taste. The sausage was average and so were the pierogies. I liked the stuffed cabbage… but not a huge fan of the hunter’s stew. Beef goulash was probably better than the platter. Humongous portions I can’t see anyone finishing and it was served over potato pancakes that were delicious. Since beer was $ 6 for a giant mug, we couldn’t resist of course. Not knowing what Polish beer tasted like at all, we went to the bar and they were kind enough to serve us some samples. Everything tasted the same and I wasn’t quite the fan since it seemed kinda bland to me(I“m an IPA and belgian ale lover). Nevertheless, we each got a beer to go with our food. Definitely drop by for an authentic experience, but I’m not sure I would come out of my way again. TIP: They have wifi here, so take advantage if you’re unable to get service inside the restaurant like me. The password is their phone number.

The atmosphere, service and food at Karczma was great! Golonka was good, Although I’d order the individual components, I’d probably never order the Polish plate again.

Polish hipster galore! Yet the food is so good and I love the atmosphere! We came here for a small family reunion and everyone loved the food. While it was different from the Polish food we grew up with(more sweet, more smokey), it was still very delicious. We tried several sampler platters as well as the Hunter Stew and it was all great. They also had some very good wines. The food portions were huge so we ended up taking a ton of food to go and had a few more Polish meals at home over the next couple of days. Can’t get much better than this!

This is the most authentic Polish restaurant in New York City. We go there with my significant other almost every weekend we like it so much. I’ve tried all Polish restaurants in NYC and this is the one. My favorite soup there is żurek(sour rye soup/Polish white borscht) in a bread bowl served with mashed potatoes with bacon sprinkled all over it. It’s the most authentic żurek I found in the US and that says a lot since I’ve lived in Midwest and East Coast and tried all Polish restaurants I’ve encountered in Chicago/NYC/CT. I also really enjoy Polish cucumber in brine soup which is really authentic. For entrees I higly recommend the boar shoulder which is often a weekend special served with potatoes wrapped in bacon and sauteed red cabbage. I also really like spicy goulash which is not really spicy and served over potato pancakes. Definitely check out the plate of Polish fresh salads. That’s how we eat it back home and it’s a great selection of fresh veggies served in different ways. Whenever we bring any non-Polish guests to the restaurant we order them the Polish combo platter. It has a selection of Polish cuisine that gives a great introduction to this Eastern European food. The fact is we bring pretty much all our guests from out of town to Karczma for a feast of Polish delicacies because they never disappoint. For drinks make sure you check out their selection of Polish beers. My favorite one is Żywiec Bock and I always order it to accompany the dinner. The service is attentive even though you often have to wait for a table because Karczma is so popular. For dinner on the weekends you have to sign on the list and wait 5 – 20 minutes because they are always full. That tells you this place is one of the best dinner spots in NYC. We usually come for a very late dinner so there is no wait and we never sit at the bar. I enjoy the music and rustic decorations reminding me of villages in Poland. The wait for food is not long at all and the food always served fresh. The portions are huge and I say it as a 6’5 and 200 pounds man that loves to eat ;) We usually have leftovers for lunch the next day. Another great thing is how cheap Karczma is for the quality of food they serve. You won’t find a better food at such a low price point with very rustic and authentic Polish atmosphere. We’ve eaten at Karczma easily over 20 times and we will keep coming back. Karczma is Zagat worthy and only the price point keeps it off the Michelin rating for NYC. It’s been rated top 10 restaurant in Brooklyn and rightly so. Check it out if you’ve never had authentic Polish food. If you’re a Pole you must check it out as well. It will become your favorite Polish restaurant in NYC and I say it as a Pole who grew up in Poland and keeps coming back to this wonderful restaurant. I would sum it up in Polish for the tourists from Poland: Przepyszne polskie jedzenie, przyjemna atmosfera i wspaniała obsługa. Przekonajcie się sami odwiedzając najlepszą polską knajpę w Nowym Jorku.

Ambiance: very polish inspired down to what the waitresses are wearing Service: you’re not coming here for the amazing service because there won’t be but their food makes up for it! Food: delicious polish dishes and draft beers. At a price that doesn’t hurt the wallet you’re getting quite generous portions too! All in all I’ll be back if I ever venture into the area again l.

This place is authentic and charming. The food is spectacular with service to match. I had the polish specialties which was enough food for two hangry people. I also enjoyed the amber wheat beer.

3.5 stars I came here for dinner on the weekend I would say that my review is comprised of two main items: The broscht soup gets 5 stars The sampler plate gets 2 – 3 Let me start with the sampler; I just didn’t think there was something super special in there. The perrogis were not that good(lived in Chicago a while, there are good options there). The meat was a bit too saucy, the potato pancakes where good, but I was missing the apple sauce, and I simply don’t like stuffed cabbage Now on the other hand. The soup was sooooo delicious. Strong, flavorful and very filling. I am a little sad they didn’t have the bread bowl they say they have; it would have made it absolutely perfect. Another plus, prices were super reasonable. I am definitively coming back, but I would not recommend the sampler. Next time I’ll only get the soup :9

Being Polish I love polish food– This is one of the best places in Greenpoint that is still open. I would come with my friends every once in a while– There is always a wait on the weekend, the food is incredible. For a hangover i love the white borscht. Helps every-time! Anything you will get you will be happy with so it’s worth a try!

Very enjoyable experience for dinner. We love borscht so we started with the white borscht in a bread bowl and the chilled red borscht. Both had excellent flavor and were large portions for very little money. If you can believe it, both soups were served with a side of mashed potato. These were very filling appetizers so we decided to share one entrée — the plate of polish specialties. For $ 13, this consisted of three pierogis, two potato pancakes, hunters stew, kielbasa and a stuffed cabbage in fantastic sweet tomato sauce. Everything was delicious and we were absolutely stuffed. The whole dinner(with alcohol and tip) came to $ 35 total. Service was fine but nothing special and the atmosphere is slightly kitschy.

Ohh, it’s good. It’s so good. Such a great find in Greenpoint. The food was delicious. I got the white borscht soup and the chicken cutlet. The white borscht came w/mash potato and bacon. I found the soup to be a little too salty. The chicken cutlet was a huge portion. The food was delicious. Amazing lunch special deal. I can’t believe that they only charge $ 10 for lunch. If you are in Greenpoint or like polish food, it’s a must visit.

I’m not one who craves Polish food, but seriously, this food here is incredible. In addition, the atmosphere makes you feel like you’re actually in Poland. When you go, you MUST order the white borscht. It’s essentially heaven served in a bread bowl. Before the meal, we also ordered the mushroom pierogis. It was diced up mushrooms served with what the waiter called sauerkraut(I would have called it onions). They were sweet with a tad bit of a sour taste, and absolutely delicious. For my entrée, I had the spicy beef goulash served over potato pancakes. The entrée was enough for at least two people. Again, this was remarkable. The meat was tender and those potato pancakes were on point. I have a feeling there isn’t anything bad or just decent on this menu.

Well, the lunch special at Karczma is essentially the best meal you’ll ever get for $ 10. You start off with a bowl of soup, and believe me, you want the white borscht. The menu says it’s composed of soured flour, kielbasa, a hardboiled egg and spices. I don’t really know what they mean by soured flour… all I know is that the overall effect is creamy and tart, punctuated by salty chunks of kielbasa, and utterly amazing. Also, it should be noted that this soup comes with a side of mashed potatoes that is garnished with bacon. Let me repeat that: The bowl of soup that is included with the lunch special comes with a substantial portion of kielbasa, and its own side, which in turn comes with its own garnish(not some parsley or anything, but bacon). And they also provide a nice half-loaf of bread as well. This is way more than a meal already. For the main portion of my lunch, I was torn between the Hunter’s Stew and the pork cutlet. My sweetheart of a waitress said the pork cutlet was a larger portion, and I was trying to go light so I picked the stew. I can only assume that the pork cutlet can feed a small African country, because the stew was a sizable portion of tomato and onion based stew, littered with chunks of meat and of course, topped with more kielbasa. It was hearty as fuck, and I took the vast majority of it home. Basically, if you like delicious food and amazing value, Karczma is your spot. If you don’t like delicious food and amazing value, get some new priorities.

My boyfriend is Polish and he hasn’t been to Greenpoint yet so I’ve been meaning to take him here. My regular place was closed by the time we got there so we decided to come try Karczma instead as I’ve heard good things. Came here late on a weekend and waited about 10 minutes for a table for 2. They gave us some traditional bread for the table and we started with a Pickle Soup and a Tripe Soup. The bf was craving Pickle Soup since coming to NYC and agreed they make a delicious one just like home. The Tripe Soup was full of tripe and heavily spiced in flavor. The soups were rich and satisfying; perfect after coming in from the cold. I had the Grilled Pork Chop with Mushrooms and it was a very large thick heavy cut of pork. They came with roasted potatoes served with some spices sprinkled on top and a bowl of creamy cucumber salad. It was grilled perfectly; the juicy meat paired well with the flavorful mushrooms on top. Of course he got the Polish Platter and the portions did not disappoint — He couldn’t even finish it. It contained Pierogis, Kielbasa, Potato Pancakes, Hunter’s Stew, and Stuffed Cabbage. He raved about the Galumpkis which I had to Google to find out he was talking about the Stuffed Cabbage afterwards. :) He noted that the Polish food here uses a bit more spices than he was used to grandma making and it was probably a regional difference. Overall, it was delicious and we left stuffed and satisfied. Would definitely need to come by again and try some other specialties on the menu.

How do you say come hungry leave happy in Polish? I should know because I’m Polish! This place will fill your stomach with hot delish Polish food without breaking the bank. I love coming to restaurants that totally transform you in another world and this restaurant totally does. I really appreciate this place because it brings me back to my Polish roots. I love hearing the Polish chit chat as I enjoy my meal. I’ve been here a couple of times and every time it’s super fun and delicious. Came here with my bf to expose him to the Polish way. I did that by ordering two Zywiec($ 6 each), a hot bowl of Zurek($ 4.50 without bread bowl, $ 5.50 with bread bowl), spicy beef goulash($ 12.00) and the grilled kielbasa($ 9.00). The Zurek comes with a side of mashed potatoes and bacon… what else could be better? Everything was amazing-nothing else to say. The portions can feed a small village and the G train is legit down the street.
