The show was very special for me as ive seen these guys more than 30 times and with my little brother… i lost my bro in a navy mishap and this was the first time ive seen the Beach Boys without him. the theater itself exceeds any hype ive heard about it. what a beautiful theater and was as big a star as the band… or any act that plays in it. .sound was excellent. staff was friendly and helpful and danced to the infectous hit after hit that was played and most of all i felt like my brother was there with me and my beautiful girlfriend. a great night

Amazing Beautiful & A Travel Back In Time We went here on a Tuesday night for a Beach Boy Concert(which was awesome btw ha). This place has a long history and stood empty for many years. It re-opened last year and is stunning from the inside. Take a look at the pictures — this place is breathtaking and more incredible than most Broadway theaters in the city. Besides the building itself — the service was exceptional. I don’t know why but everyone that worked there was extra friendly. There are plenty of bars upstairs, downstairs, and even in the basement. We had to wait maybe 1 min before we had a drink in our hand and the venu was sold out. Meaning they have enough room and attendence to really meet everyone’s needs. If there is every an event here — I can only highly recommend you go for the place alone.

The venue itself is lovely, great for taking pictures. The sound was fine, not the best I thought to be honest. I saw a Beach Boys concert there and thought the sound could have been a bit better. My gripe here is that security inspects everybody’s bags differently. Whereas I was forced to throw out expensive leftovers from a nearby restaurant(I apologize that I had the audacity to want to eat dinner before an 8pm show), and my senior citizen father-in-law had to throw away his apple because he tends to get peckish. However, once inside I saw other people with outside they’d brought it that had Not been confiscated. That was a big frustration of my evening. Then as we were leaving the theater I asked 2 different employees where the nearest train station was and neither could give me a clear, direct answer. So my issue here is not with the venue itself but with the staff they hire that could be more well-mannered and better trained.

What a great concert venue. It is an absolutely gorgeous space, lovingly renovated. I have to say the sound is just ok, but everything else about the place makes this a five star experience. The stairs and aisles are wide so you don’t get jammed up entering or exiting(we were at a sold-out show, so it was packed). Seats are very comfy with lots of legroom. The staff is amazingly nice and helpful and ladies, there are two big & really nice bathrooms — no waiting! There also is a bar about every ten feet, so not a lot of waiting there either. There’s a decent selection of restaurants within a reasonable walk. I will definitely go back!

This theater has been completely renovated and what an amazing venue. They have restored everything and added modern and large restrooms in the theater. Incredible from period carpets and logos on the seats this is like returning to the 1920’s when the theater was first opened. Plenty off leg room and comfortable seats. Quite a hike from midtown on subway, but well worth the trip.

There’s plenty that could(or maybe even *should*) have put a damper on my visit to Kings Theatre to see the touring production of Annie. The show started 15 minutes late due to lines that snaked around the block to get in. A side effect of late arrivals who underestimated the schlep to get there, as well as the tight security — metal detectors and all! Even with the curtain being held, latecomers still scurried down the aisle throughout act 1. Despite all that, I loved being at the Kings. The renovation is stunning and the theater is stunning beyond belief. Nice modern touches such as large new bathrooms in the basement were also appreciated. Nice concession offerings as well — with hot popcorn, soft pretzels, and enough stands to keep lines manageable. The biggest joy, though, was the audience. It was definitely a different crowd that you get at your typical Broadway venue, and the house was filled with neighborhood families enjoying a pre-holiday night out, or locals like me who were curious to see the venue since its recent opening. The crowd was electric — if not always silently reverent — but that seemed absolutely right in this scenario. I hope to return again for many more of their tempting offerings in 2016.

Gorgeous theatre! I was here on Saturday for the Great Russian Nutcracker. The show itself wasn’t that amazing, but that doesn’t have anything to do with the theatre. The theatre was smaller on the outside and much more casually situated on Flatbush Ave than I’d expected, if that makes sense. For some reason, I thought it was way more set back by itself. It makes sense that it’s right on the street though, since it used to be an movie theater. I loved the marquee outside! The line definitely built up to go inside because everyone had to go through airport type security, but with no one scanning you. You just have to empty your pockets, hold your purse open, and walk through a metal detector. That whole part took away from the fun of entering a theatre and getting ready for a show, but it was okay. The lobby is amazing. The depth of it and the intricate ceilings and light fixtures are beautiful. There is a huge staircase in the back that is stunning. There are lots of ushers helping with directions and we were able to find our seats quickly. We didn’t get any refreshments, but it looked like there tons of beverage/snack stands with a lot of options. I really would have preferred that they didn’t allow food and drink into the show. There were lots of kids there who were very noisy with their snacks and it took away from the experience. The other issue is that while they did wait for the majority of people to be seated(the show started around 3:25 and it was supposed to start at 3), there were still a lot of people being ushered in after the show started, even well onto 4 pm. Ushers were quiet, but they had lights to see the seat numbers and to show people the way, which was extremely distracting. They should just wait until intermission to seat latecomers. It’s really not fair to other people who arrived early or on time for the show. Leaving the theatre at the end was a bit hectic and crowded. There aren’t that many doors to exit from and everyone funnels to the lobby to get out, which isn’t that big, considering the amount of people who fit in the theatre. It’s definitely not like Lincoln Center or other venues in the city, which have larger lobbies, or at least more options for exiting. The merchandise table was also set up right in the middle front of the lobby, so that took up even more space. Still, the theatre is really gorgeous and definitely worth the trip to this part of Brooklyn. I personally love Ditmas Park, so I had a great time coming here and then getting dinner/drinks just a few blocks away!

This is really a spectacular theatre. You don’t see architecture like this anymore and I was in awe. I saw Of Monsters and Men here and while I didn’t have the greatest seats it seems like anywhere on the lower lever provides a great view and as the theatre isn’t huge you feel decently close. Sound was also a high point, the music was loud and clear. It seems like they planned out the renovation well as I didn’t see long lines anywhere and had no issues grabbing a beer. Drink and food prices are on the high side, $ 10 for a 16oz beer isn’t horrible but I hear something like $ 8 for a small bag of pop corn. After the show was over getting out wasn’t a problem like it is at some venues and while it isn’t the closest to the subways it’s not terrible to get to.

What a magnificent theater!(review *1700*) A few years ago they started on a $ 95 million renovation. It’s now complete and the Kings Theatre looks like palace. I think of the 1940s when this theater was in its heyday, how the people dressed and what shows entertained them. Picture the folks looking all regal with large top hats and walking sticks. Putting’ on the Ritz Brooklyn Style! From the large ceiling with the beautiful workmanship, this is a lavish theatre that’s in my hometown of Brooklyn. The seating is also very comfortable. I went to Carnegie hall over the summer, another beautiful venue but the seats were so tight. Not so in the Kings Theatre in Kings County of Brooklyn. What brought me here was Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band. It was great to see Ringo singing with a bunch of other great musicians. I was hoping Sir Paul would have joined him, oh well. Parking is not a problem, pick a place on the street and park. Kings Theatre, I love ya. Keep on having great performers and I’ll keep coming from Long Island

An absolutely gorgeous theatre. The renovations that recently took place were spot on. Beautifully preserved architectural elements, the old school marquee out front is a great touch. Pros include the several dozen ladies bathrooms on the lower level. No line! And the multiple bars. And they were clean and well stocked. Staff was smiling and very welcoming. And there were tons of them. Everywhere. I’d say though… It’s in a really dicey area. We took a car there and back, which adds to the cost of the evening for sure. Even in a group it would take some convincing for me to walk from the subway, and home after? I don’t think so. Drink prices were super super insane, even for a venue like this, $ 16 for a tiny clear plastic cup of hangover bar wine! Eeesh. I told myself I was funding the renovation to make it go down a little easier. A night here is really worth it for the venue. The artist was ebullient for performing in such a stunning old beauty. She was chatty and told lots of stories. Who doesn’t like that?

Amazing venue and glad it’s been restored. Saw a Nick Lowe and Yo La Tengo concert here and it was lovely. Employees were nice, space was gorgeous and renovated, and acoustics were spot on.

Best venue I have ever seen a concert at. Not only is it spectacular to look at but the acoustics are amazing. The seats are so comfortable and the refreshments are great. We had some VIP tickets and were in some room with private bathrooms and we were offered bags of candy which included my all time favorite. .none other than Swedish fish. They also had chocolate, jelly beans, et cetera. Even the performing artist, who was Jackson Brown, made several comments on how great the venue was. I wish more of my favorite bands would play here. To think it was a movie theater. .ponder that.

One of the best theatres still left in NYC. I attended the Sesame Street Live show here and was thoroughly impressed by how impeccable the service was from the theatre attendants. Smiling faces and hospitality in Brooklyn? I felt like I was in the south. Plenty of staff to escort you to your seats and to keep the place in tip top shape. There is ample parking along Flatbush and on the side street on Tilden. Lots of shopping and eateries nearby to stop by before the show. This theatre fits it’s name. Very REGAL and lavish. The restoration of this place is gorgeous. Very Victorian. Reminded me of the Apollo structure. My 4 year old and I really enjoyed the show and loved having our seats moved to the front. I loved the size of the place, any seat is a good seat. I will definitely be back here for another live performance. This place is fit for a Queen.

We had tickets to see R&B singer Jill Scott. The Loew’s Kings Theatre opened its doors to Flatbush Avenue on September 7, 1929. When you walk into the theater it is as if you stepped back into the roaring twenties. The theater has been restored to it old glory with 92 million dollars in renovations. The intricate designs including carved cherubs, ruby red carpeting, and matte red paint accents the décor of what was once the 25th largest theater in the United States. The ceilings are vaulted and high, the acoustics are warm, and visibility to the stage is accessible in all seating locations… the staff is accommodating and friendly. The reviews I read gripes about location. This venue is located in Flatbush, if you’re looking for the bells and whistles of Williamsburg or the hipsters of Fort Greene… you’re not going to find it here, however you will find a beautifully restored theater to enjoy music. Public transportation is a hike. Take the Q/B to Beverly Road then a 10 minute walk. There’s not a hip or cool restaurant on every corner, but the location is an upcoming neighborhood. C’mon son… there’s so much more to Brooklyn than Williamsburg, DUMBO, Park Slope, Red Hook, Bushwick, and Ft. Greene… stop it already. The comparison is insulting. No this is not Williamsburg and I’m so very glad it isn’t. I hope Flatbush resists the trend to gentrify and never becomes as shallow, over crowded, and over priced as Williamsburg but that’s a whole other review. O.k. yes the review back to the review… We sat three rows from the stage and sang with the talented grammy award winner and sipped on over priced very strong drinks. No pics. No flash. No recording. I love it. I’m looking forward to the next concert.

Start with obvious– this theatre is gorgeous !! Stepping in here feels like stepping back in time. Less obvious but more important is the sound. What good is a beautiful theater without good sound ? No worries because this theater sounds fantastic. The seating is comfortable and stage visibility is good, No weird obstructed view seating. I have to say i was quite surprised how nice all the staff was everyone smiling and saying hello. A very pleasant experience. The only downside is there is not much around this theater. The closet decent restaurant is Mangoseed a 10 – 15 minute walk away. Hopefully the theater will bring more cool businesses to this part of town. .

Absolutely amazing venue. In the middle of nowhere, a bad neighborhood with nothing around it, but an amazing venue nonetheless. I went there to see Spoon with the GF and was blown away from the second I walked in. Huge, tall ceilings. Every inch of every wall is covered in intricate detail and relief work. The theater itself id mind-blowing in scope and beauty, and thankfully the acoustics and sound system don’t suck either. You can see that they really spent that 95 mil on the renovation Bars at every turn, thought they are pretty pricey even by theater standards. Restrooms are new and clean but downstairs and there was one hell of a line later on. Merch table was in an odd place and totally swamped when we were leaving. I struggle with a 4 or a 5 on this. On one hand it is one of the best theaters I have been to in NYC. It blows the shitty old beacon out of the water and is even nicer than Radio City. Buuuut it is in the middle of no where. No one goes to Flatbush for fun — the place is not a nice neighborhood and the trains are a half mile in each direction. There are no bars, restaurants or anything else to do withing ½ of a mile. Cabs? Forget about it. It is 45 from the city and an hour from north Brooklyn. Also, tickets are notably a little on the pricey side. I am going to go with a 4 unfortunately. I love the place but it is just too far away and nothing around it.

I wish I could see every band I’ve ever wanted to see here. AMAZING Pixies show last week and TOPNOTCH service from the Kings Theater staff. They couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful finding seats… even friendly during the bag/security check as you enter! Arrive early because you will need a few minutes to open-mouth stare at the beautiful lobby. And then stare in wonderment again at the stunning theater. They’ve spared no expense renovating this place. It is so, so impressive. As for the show — Excellent sightlines from about 15 rows back on the Orchestra level. Imagine the balcony is just as good. Inside — Several bar stations so our wait for drinks was about two seconds. Great sound. Great atmosphere. A warning that there aren’t many places to grab a bite pre-show nearby. But that’s not the theater’s fault. I imagine this neighborhood will be completely transformed in a couple of years, and it will be to the credit of KT.

Ditto to all the other reviews. If you have the option to see a show here, it’s totally worth the trip. The building is gorgeous — there are roped off velvet couches and a fireplace on the walk to the ladies’ room, for pete’s sake! There were at least five bar stations open when I was there for a concert, meaning no lines for drinks or candy. And the layout of the actual event area is perfect. It’s huge but feels intimate. tip: go to Sycamore(flower shop bar) down the street for drinks and snacks beforehand.

Fantastic job of renovating this theater. It is so brand new and looks beautiful. You would think you are in a theater in the middle of Broadway. Nope, you are not… Brooklyn made and redone. The staff here are friendly and they work really quick, fast to help you out. The Disney Live show was a great show. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald all did a great job of telling the 3 princess stories of Cinderella, Beauty and The Beast, and Snow White. Although it was an abbreviated version of each story, it was still entertaining to watch. Almost makes you feel like you were at Disney World or Disney Land. Looking forward to seeing other shows at this theater in the future.

What everyone else has said. This is an absolutely gorgeous theater, akin to Shea’s Performing Arts in Buffalo NY(and if you’ve ever been there… you know what I’m talking about). Things to love about this place: Serious security. I don’t know who’s joking around here, but this is not in a good area. Sorry not sorry. Metal detectors and all are the norm these days. Not that many people going to see Bjork would be bringing a knife to an electro-pop-orchestra fight… but. Um, OK. And after leaving… all the cops. Bathrooms. So many. Just so many. No lines. New. Clean. Awesome. Bars. There are bars at every theater entrance. Minimal wait. Reasonable-for-theater-prices. So the not so good: Yeah, the area. No, shut up, it’s not in a good area. There is nowhere to grab dinner or drinks ahead of time. SERIOUS. No where. Nope nope nope. I had dinner in Crown Heights and hoofed an $ 8⁄10 minute UBER over. Transportation post-show. Subway is too far to walk and wait(the closest subway is about ½ mile away and you don’t want to walk that far, especially at night). No ubers. No taxis. Arrange ahead of time to have Family or Arecibo pick you up afters. It’s a $ 15 ride back to Carroll Gardens/Park Slope. Chatted with the cops after the show, and they agreed we’d have trouble getting a cab and we did not see a single one. Seriously, arrange transportation home. I waited about 15 mins in a bodega for Family to come get me.
