I only came here because the other stores were closing already and my sister didn’t want to go to hk tea & sushi. Their noodles are pretty good. My mom and I really like the texture but I found the overall meal to be a bit bland. But of course it must contain a lot of msg as I was thirsty as heck afterwards. I tried their rice noodles with the mixed sauce after going on Unilocal and seeing so many people posting pictures of this dish. However, I found it disappointing. It was covered in a good amount of sauce just the way I like it but the rice noodles itself was kind of hard. The service is quick if you urge them. They take orders and make them pretty quickly but unless you specifically call for them, they leave you alone. It really depends on how you look at it. It could be a good thing or bad. I personally am probably spoiled by every other restaurant I’ve ever gone to and the servers would refill your water or tea when they see that it’s empty. However, the servers here can stare at your empty cups forever and not do a single thing. They just stand around. I guess you can’t just take service for granted even though they take tips for granted. I don’t understand anymore. I don’t know if I’d go back.

Cutlery dirty, my fork was actually there is a Spaghetti and chili! Sandwich bread a little not very fresh feeling, pork ribs rice rolls very salty, taste a bit strange!

I come here just for their Kowloon Café soup and Hong Kong tea and milk. I dislike almost everything I order here because it’s either tasteless or overcooked. The quality of the food is extremely unbearable. I feel like the only reason this place is still in business because there’s no other restaurant in the area serves the same style of food they serve. The services are alright, nothing spectacular; however, I dislike the lady owner because she’s not friendly. She never smiles to her customer. I come here when I’m not in a mood to eat and just want soup and tea. It’s the perfect place for me not to order anything else and come what I want it.

This place used to be good when it first opened(before the«cha-chan-tang» trend took over NYC, before HK Tea & Sushi). Over the years this placed went through numerous staff changes and price hikes, while the quality of their food suffered simultaneously. This establishment is like the Soviet Union, way past its Space Race glory days, struggling to survive in the late ‘80s. As far as I know, the only cha-chan-tang in NYC(yes, including Chinatown) that’s still up to par would be Jin Jin Hong Kong Café on 18th Avenue. And no, HK Tea & Sushi is not better. You pay more for smaller portions, and the quality isn’t much better. I would say it goes without saying that all of the restaurants above are crap compared to real cha-chan-tangs in Hong Kong(the actual city), but unfortunately most Unilocalers have evidently never had anything better in the cha-chan-tang category than what’s offered at this restaurant, and would gladly give this place 5 stars. Yet another example of why we need a better, standardized grading scheme. Kowloon Café is the«best» in the area, a worthless achievement when there’s no worthy competition at all.

This is definitely a hole in the wall. Do not judge the restaurant by its sign. All the food items on the menu that my group selected were tasty! The mussel with the red sauce was so delicious. It has a tangy sauce and red wine touch to it. I’m definitely coming back for those mussels and the mussels were big!!! The seafood pasta in the Spanish style sauce was delectable but super filling. I would suggest to share this with 1 – 2 people. I could barely finish it. Kowloon French toast was not sweet as you would thought. It has strawberry, chocolate and a little peanut butter spread. Great for dessert. Ahh. I have to go back for those mussels soon. I’ll update when I try the mussels in white sauce.

Ordered three dishes for take out. Two of them were bland and the other salty. The fried rice tasted like steamed rice with tiny amount of meat. It was nothing like a fried rice. The sauce for baked minced beef was so salty and thick. Plus it wasn’t even minced beef, it’s small chopped beef chunk. Threw my takeout menu in the trash. Never return ever.

Food is pretty good, a lot of different HK/cantanese dishes. Very casual setting. Regular prices, a little bit on the higher side for this type level restaurant. $ 1-$ 1.5 more compares to similar level restaurants.

This place is okay. There wasn’t anything too impressive, but it’s a casual restaurant. I have always passed by this place but never came in until recently. I am sure this place has been around longer than Cha Chaan Tang in Chinatown too. I would say these two restaurants are relatively the same with what they serve, with of course, the slight difference of Manhattan and Brooklyn pricing. I actually found this place pretty spacious. There wasn’t much people when I went, so service was quick. The yogurt agar drink I ordered was pretty delicious. The baked spaghetti dish was actually like any other baked dish I have eaten. I believe a lot of their dishes are usually made for sharing, so be sure to come with people and share your dish, unless you’re really hungry. Likely to be back to try their other dishes and some of their other drinks!

On a Sunday late afternoon, there was not much customers. I ordered the French Toast, Kowloon House Special Soup(shark fin soup), and the Spam and Egg sandwich as a snack. For the drink, I ordered the Kumquat Lemon Tea. Everything tasted good, especially the french toast! The drink was very good! Service was good since there were a few customers. The food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Good selection of seating. I would come back here again for dinner one day!

Their appetizers are really good, but their pasta palette is lacking. It’s like eating stringed cardboard with a leaf for décor that tricks your eye into thinking it’s delicious. Grading their service based on the contemporary service at Asian restaurants, I would say that it is fairly good. But it is really hard to get their attention. The place is usually packed by 12:00 pm. This place may be small, but we only had to wait 15 minutes with a party of 9 people.

I come here for their Baked Zita because I don’t know anywhere else in Brooklyn makes it like this. It is very saucy and there are a lot of minced beef. On a good day, I can finish the entire dish myself; however, most of the time I have to share it with someone because it’s quite a big dish for myself. Other than that, most of their food tastes like any other Chinese cafés/restaurants. Also, their Hong Kong Style Rice Noodle with Special Sauce is so delicious! I love it when it is drenched with the sauces. Ordered it once to try it and ordered it again every time I go back. However, the services are alright. Every time I eat here, my entrées would always come out before my appetizers. By the time I finish my entrees… I can’t fully enjoy my appetizers anymore. When it’s busy, it takes forever to wave down a waiter/waitress.

Super sad that my favorite waiter doesn’t work here anymore. He knew what my boyfriend always get when we come here together. But anyways, my all time favorite is their pizza bread. I don’t get it to go anymore because they would normally fuck up my order and give me garlic bread instead. Their garlic bread isn’t all that, but their pizza bread is amazing! The exotic drinks + hk style milk tea are pretty good here. The hk style milk tea is like a drug to my boyfriend, that’s the only drink he gets from here.

I practically lived in Kowloon Café back when they first opened over 10 years ago. This was when I was still in High School, and when all my somewhat childhood friends and I still lived in Brooklyn. And it’s been over 8 years that I haven’t been to Kowloon, and nothing has really changed maybe except for my taste buds. Everything was subpar, and the young waiters are extremely slow and rude. I kid you not, I was so close to flipping our teenage waiter off. When time came to order, I asked for their deep fried pig intestines that they had listed on their menu and had blown up on their wall with a picture, and the boy told me «we don’t serve that. we’re never going to anymore!». Uh. so why are you strongly advertising it on the WALL still? Why don’t you guys just take sharpie and black it out on the menu like all asian joints do? His attitude like he just got his monthly period wasn’t helping either. Food like I said, was subpar. My favorite use to be their baked ham over spaghetti and fried chicken wings, but we ordered none of those. Instead we ordered HK style beef tripe, curry fish balls, fried chicken gizzard, baked porkchop over spaghetti, curry beef stew over rice, black pepper pork chop over rice, and pan fried beef noodles. Nothing was bad, but all dishes were below average. The beef tripe dish was fullll of beef stomach and liver, and the whole dish just ended up tasting like liver — I’m a liver hater, so that didn’t work out well for me. Here’s to one amazing thing though — their ancient«VIP» cards given to customers when they first opened still work for dine in only. I was given a card for 15% off my meals by the manager back then and for some reason I still have it, and for some great reason, Kowloon still accepts it! I gave the card to my friend and her bf after our dinner since they live like 10 minutes away from Kowloon, and they would definitely benefit from it much more than I would. Not like I would ever crave Kowloon again anyway.

Always in the mood for some comfort food HK style. Been coming to this place since its opened and while its not amazing it definitely hits the spot when I’m craving some macaroni and ham or some Portuguese chicken. This place is pretty popular in the asian community espically during the weekends. So come early to grab a spot.

This was my first time dropping by Kowloon Café. I heard and read reviews on how bad the service was and how salty the food were. I guess they make some changes. The service was great and the food was delicious. I will come back!

I ask the waiter to change the my fry rice because there’s some black stuff they in the rice. They told me it was black beans But I took the black stuff out it wasn’t black bean it was some kinda of sticky green grease with hair! Anyways. This is my last time going

I remember coming here when it first opened and thought it was horrible! The food was loaded with MSG and made me so thirsty when I left. After several years of avoiding Kowloon Café, I decided to get take-out for lunch from here today and give it a second chance. I was not disappointed! Baked pork chops over rice– Decent but the one at M Star Café in Chinatown is still the best. The sauce isn’t as flavorful and the rice is a little stale but not terrible. I also didn’t really like the cut up pieces of tomato in the sauce since they tasted so out of place. HK-style rice noodles– Again, not as good as M Star Café. The noodles were a little more chewy instead of mushy(which some might prefer). There also wasn’t enough sauce in my opinion. The taste of the sauce was a little off(wrong ratio of soy sauce to peanut sauce) but again, not horrible. Overall, Kowloon Café is a pretty decent restaurant in Bensonhurst to go to for HK-style food. I definitely prefer it over HK Tea and Sushi. Obviously I’m not going to head to Chinatown’s M Star Café whenever I’m craving HK-style food so Kowloon Café will have to do!

It’s 3:15 pm in the afternoon in Hong Kong, time for lunch at a Hong Kong café. That’s what this place is, but it’s located here Brooklyn. This place really reminds you of a typical Hong Kong Café. Almost feels like you’re in Hong Kong. The food on the other hand are okay. 1. The Peanut Butter and Condensed milk toast was nicely toasted and had a sweet flavor from it. A good mix of peanut butter and condensed milk. 2. Cheong Fun was nice and warm when it came out, but nothing special when it came to taste. 3. Crispy Pig Intestine took some time to make, but it wasn’t bad. Crispy, cool, and sweet taste. 4. Baked Portuguese Chicken over Rice was probably the best dish. Really good sweet coconut flavor in the chicken. Pipping hot when it came out. 5. Baked Seafood with white sauce over spaghetti was eh to me. I just don’t think Chinese people can make decent pasta. Definitely a good place to go to if you want a cheap eats, but don’t expect anything fantastic

We went here on a Sunday morning for breakfast. The congee here is super cheap, 2 dollars I believe. It was okay, it could use some more seasoning. We ordered the peanut butter chern fun and it was okay. They put a lot of the black sauce so it kinda overpowered the peanut butter taste of the dish. The fried buns were alright. It’s a girl’s worst nightmare though. I mean, sweet fried carbs. How scary for the summer. Their salt and pepper wings were pretty good. They were super small so I don’t know if it’s worth five dollars. The staff here are super nice. They speak great English and Cantonese. They asked for refills and didn’t rush us out at all. Great customer service!!!

This was my first exposure to food that, according to my Cantonese friend, is typically served in Hong Kong cafes. Apparently white rice baked in cheese is a thing there. We ordered a Portuguese Chicken Baked Rice and an Oxtail Stew Baked Rice. I wasn’t sure how the baked rice dishes would taste with the cheese, but it was better than I expected. The baked rice dishes are listed under the Western category, it still retained an Asian flavor. The oxtail one was especially good. I thought the cheese would overpower all the other flavors, but flavor of the oxtail and tomatoes combined well with the cheese. I guess in general you can’t go wrong with white rice or gooey melted cheese. We also ordered a standard Pork Belly w/Preserved Vegetables over Rice. I didn’t like how they ground up the pork belly into pieces, but the flavor was good. Best part was eating the white rice soaked in the juices from the pork belly. I’m not sure I would come here again, but as I have never been to Hong Kong, it was interesting getting exposure to these regional specialties.
