This place is a bit overshadowed by Sake, which is just a few stores down, but this place deserves some recognition in its own right. Yes, it’s not as cheap as Sake, but this is a different type of sushi place. This place is much quieter and less crazy, which depending on your mood that day, can make all the difference. The service here is good and the sushi is just as fresh if not more fresh than a lot of other places in Bensonhurst. If the wait for Sake is too long, give Wasabi a try.

This sushi place is nasty! The first time I ate here was a few years ago and the sushi took forever to come and the food didn’t even taste fresh. I ended up not eating it. Now I tried it again like three or four months ago and I got eel cucumber roll, Alaskan roll and some sushi pieces. The food tasted horrible and didn’t look so good. I took one tiny taste and couldn’t do it. I will never come back here ever!!! Also they are way over priced!

You’ll get grossed out when you discover why I rated this place a one. The sashimi platter looked soooo delicious when it arrived, but me and my friends found a punk worm on the white fish. It was disgusting. What happened next was even worse. We told the waitress who immediately took the platter away and told us to order something else. She didn’t apologize nor did she act like anything happened. We ordered something new. She ‘forgot’ about everything and when the check came, it included the price of the platter with the pink worm and everything else. I’m not one to ask for freebies, but come on? We ate only a third of the plate! I will never come again because of this incident and How they handled it. Please check your sushi carefully before eating. My worm was still moving on the sushi.

The bento boxes are pretty filling. W and I get pretty full and end up taking half of it home. Oysters are really good too. I was here for my 29th bday.

This place is literally BAE! Before anyone else. The baked oysters are 100% Bae and the service is pretty good(they even remember me!). I have to say, if you are going to this place, you must get the baked oysters or you’re just a horrible person. The environment is comfortable and they have music playing in the background. There’s one tv and the seating is pretty nice. You MUST come here!

Came here 1 year after. The food didn’t improve at all. Uni is not fresh. Food is expensive with this quality. Wouldn’t recommend this place. I would go to other places instead. The waiter didn’t pay attention to us. We waited 15 mins for ordering food

Wasabi Sushi is my to-go sushi spot in the neighborhood. They serve lunch specials 7 days a week from 12−4pm and it comes with a lot of food. It is one of the best deals for a good plate of sushi in the neighborhood since most places don’t have lunch specials on weekends. I was there a few weeks ago on a Sunday and had their bento box with Beef Negimaki. It came with a California roll, dumplings, rice, salad and the other usual bento box stuffs. I’ve ordered delivery from them for dinner before and it took a while. Maybe it is was because I ordered an hour before they closed? No idea but I was starving when the food arrived and I devoured everything in minutes. Favorites I can reccommend: –Sushi Deluxe –Hamachi Maki –Beef Negimaki –Green tea tiramisu One thing I’ve noticed about their food is the rice can be mushy sometimes. I’ve been there on days when the rice is perfect and when you bite into a maki piece and it feels like heaven. Sometimes it is just alright and the fish isn’t tasteless. Yes, rice is very important for sushi but as an overall affordable sushi spot, Wasabi is very decent! One last thing, they serve Lady M crêpe cake if you have a sweet tooth. I only tried their green tea tiramisu but I am not sure where it is from. It was very creamy and tasty without being overly too sweet. It was a great way to finish a meal after being stuffed with sushi. After all, we all have a separate stomach for desserts.

Great quality in sushi, but their AYCE isn’t really worth it. $ 25pp(which is $ 8 more than their counterpart Sake just a few doors down), but they don’t give you any options for appetizers. It is literally only sushi and rolls. Also, they don’t offer any specialty rolls on the AYCE menu, it is very plain Jane. Even my regularly beloved dragon rolls were off limits on the AYCE menu. Décor is sweet and simple, very chill environment. They were packed when we arrived at 8:30pm, but many people had left by the time we were seated at 9:00pm. Service is mostly friendly once they seat you, but they can be a bit rough at the door.

One of my favorite spots for cheap sushi lunch in Brooklyn. I can get a lot of yummy sushi without breaking the bank and it’s always super fresh. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I don’t really like the soy sauce but it’s worth coming back for more anyway. Highly recommend the salmon avocado roll, and the eel avocado roll is delicious as well!

I walked in for lunch. I’m very big on customer service. As soon as I walked in nobody was at the door to greet me. I would understand if it were busy. Or maybe the cooks in the front could greet you if nobody’s at the front to say hi. The waitress was extremely friendly though when she seated me. She has a nice smile. The food came out quickly. I ordered the lunch box special with teriyaki chicken. I just feel like the food wasn’t as fresh. The carrots were extremely huge and cut in an odd shape. It was hard to grab with the chopsticks(yes I have skills in using them). The ambience of the restaurant has dim lighting, and it makes you feel relax. I wish I could give them a higher rating, but my lunch was just ok.

I love Lady M’s mille crêpe cakes, and Wasabi allows me to fulfill my cravings without having to make a trip into the city. I’ve been here several times to get the cakes to go, and while waiting at the sushi bar I noticed some seriously delicious looking sushi being made and served. Their prices seemed really fair as well when I glanced over the menu, so I made a note to try their sushi one of these days. Having already memorized half the menu from my previous visits here, I ordered right away — the sashimi special. The selection was pretty standard: tuna, salmon, yellowtail, surf clam, white tuna and octopus. Naturally, I ended the meal with a slice of green tea mille crêpe from Lady M. While nothing was particularly outstanding, Wasabi is a reliable spot for decent and affordably priced sushi. I give them 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4 for the awesome cake!

A few years later, I’m giving this place another shot. I had the uni tempura, uni maki, sashimi special, botan ebi, and uni sushi. Their uni’s pretty good and it was unique to see it served in cooked method compared to the usual uni nigiri I’m used to. Botan ebi was fresh and pretty big, it was topped with fish roe. The sashimi special included tako, tuna, salmon, surf clam, white tuna, yellowtail, and fluke. All the fish was pretty fresh especially the tako. The uni tempura was okay but I think I prefer it in nigiri formed, still creamy though. The uni maki was okay the uni was blended in the rice and it seemed like it melted in to the sushi. For the grand finale, I had both of their best selling cake, the green tea crêpe cake and green forest cake. I laughed when I saw the crepes were labeled as thousand layer. I met the owner of Lady M and it’s confirmed that it’s only 20 layers. I commend Wasabi on trying to oversell these cakes. I do question how long these cakes have been sitting here, there’s no longer that signature powdered matcha on top. The green forest cake was almost as good as the lady M cake, it wasn’t overly sweet but the green tea flavor was lacking. I noticed a wrapper was on the green forest cake and I asked the server and they said it was delivered to them that way. Apparently they get their green forest cake from panya. As a true sushi lover, I would stick to raw dishes rather than the cooked ones. The sashimi special is definitely a bang for buck, the uni is worth trying as well.

I’m not sure if they read my review but service has definitely improved the second time I went back. Their food(I got an udon + the sushi from last time) is still not particularly outstanding. They are okay. Nothing really special. Something that I really like is they fact that they wrote lock on the door, huge and bold, with an arrow indicating where the lock is in the female bathroom.(Their lock is located under the handle and they didn’t have an arrow telling me where it is so I panicked a bit.) Overall, I’m still not a big fan of this place and it wouldn’t be my first choice if I’m craving sushi. Hopefully they will improve the quality of their food so it will be a more pleasant experience.

Not sure what took me so long to try out this place. Maybe it was because I used to be a fan of Chikurin and didn’t give this place a chance. Well I love Wasabi now, so that’s all it matters. I came here for lunch with a friend to catch up before work and we both enjoyed it very well. I’m not sure as to how to describe the interior of this place but I just liked sitting in my booth chatting and eating away. It was a very comfortable feeling. I tried my favorites, fried shu mai(I like it with mayo) and baked oysters. They were made to my liking and I’m glad to find a local spot that offers these items on the menu. I’m skeptical on trying raw food from joints like these but I went for it anyways. It was surprisingly good. If a place like this offers decent uni then I choose to assume the rest of their menu is fresh and good too.(That’s just my little theory because I order uni everywhere I go.) Overall, nice and affordable lunch spot.

The seating service was quick. The ambiance of the restaurant is casual with dim lighting. It’s not very roomy and the seating is usually best if it’s in groups of 4 or below. The sushi quality is alright. There weren’t a lot of sushi choices. The baked oysters here are good. The noodles they have are pretty good too. The have flavor and is well seasoned. I came with my family and we took 7 seats. They had to move other individual tables to make a big table for us which was very good customer service. However, every time a staff walks by with plates of food, my family and I are always worried they will spill, drop, or touch our belongings accidentally, ultimately dirtying it. It was very tight spaced. The aisle in which the staff walks down is kinda narrow too. The food service was a little slow. The food took a while to come.

I had the sushi and sashimi for 2 and it was delicious. It came with california and eel avocado rolls. The fish was very fresh. It is one of the better sushi establishments on 86th street. They do have an all you can eat menu but I believe the price is now $ 25, more expensive than others close by. I always liked Wasabi for their quality.

If you’re familiar with Brooklyn, there are a host of sushi restaurants along 86th street in Bensonhurst. This one is probably the one closest to my house and it’s pretty darn good. I came here on a Friday night around 8PM and there was about a 20 minute wait. The price is comparable to the sushi places around it. about $ 5 for a regular roll and about $ 10 for one of the more fancy rolls. Everything was made to perfection with the utmost precision. My parents don’t like eating raw fish and there were a host of rolls to choose from for them as well. One of my favorite dishes on their menu is of course the fried ice cream! It comes with a generous portion size and they’re already cut up into pieces for easy sharing. This is definitely a local gem and I hope it stays in the neighborhood for years to come.
