It looks like this business has closed. I went by and it’s shut down.

Lovely little café, with tasty coffee and really great bagels and pastries. Service is really friendly but pretty casual, so can be a little slow sometimes. The aircon is also really good during summer!

OH! So unassuming. So humble. So adorable! Honestly, some of the best coffee I have had. Granted, I drink it, but I’m no connoisseur. I’ll be honest. But, I know when I am enjoying great coffee. It’s SOOO good! And the staff is ALWAYS awesome!!! They have almond milk! I love that! Especially, being lactose intolerant and hating soy milk. Love love love this place. I get the small almond milk vanilla latte! I want one just writing about it! So damn good! They have beer there. And food and events and stuff, I think. But I have never had anything except the latte and I don’t know if I’ll ever have anything other than it. Not to be «that guy» who never tries anything(because I hate that guy) but if I get anything else from there, I better be ordering an almond milk vanilla latte with it. Jus sayin… So smooth. And perfect. And what’s better is every time I go, regardless of who is making my drink, they always and I mean ALWAYS make it taste exactly the same! Consistency! Mama like!!! Thank you Liquid Oz! Keep up the good work! (wish I could come by more often but I’m moving away from Bedstuy — I’ll still try and visit every so often, though)

Thank goodness for liquid oz or there wouldn’t be many places to get a good cup of coffee on my way to work. The staff is always friendly and there is always someone interesting to talk to. The sandwiches are great, but since they’re made to order, they can be a bit slow. The place is small, and I appreciate that they don’t let people hang out there for hours at a time on their laptops. I wish they were open later but at least now a few new businesses have opened on Malcolm X Blvd so there is becoming more to choose from!

Yummy soy chai in the hood… what more could a girl ask for? The service is awesome depending on who is behind the counter: the bald fellow is great and the guy with the glasses is nice but the tall west Indian guy is just odd… but that’s ok. That’s what makes for greT conversation and tv shows like the office… every business needs one right?! They have tasty muffins and I believe the serve wine in the evenings but I have only been there in the morning for chai or herbal tea and a muffin. It is a bit pricey but on par with Starbucks prices which I understand. Make that money! Gentrify the hood! I like it!

Charge your batteries at home freelancers/loaders: their iced coffee is strong and their pastries are from Balthazar.

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for almost a year and I’ve walked by this café about twenty million times. Finally my girl and I decide to walk in and check it out. Once you enter, it feels as if you are in the owner’s kitchen and he’s entertaining you. What was suppose to be a five minute chai latte pick up turned into a meet and greet with the owner and an awesomely artistic entertaining woman. We stayed and chatted for about an hour and a half while sipping a Chocolate Chai Tea Latte. This drink is a must. If you have a big sweet tooth, this is it. But it’s not toooo overwhelming of chocolate; it’s the perfect balance of chocolate and chai. I will be back for more chocolate chai and their soups. They also have monthly dances and numerous events. This is a great space where you can get to know your community and I’ll be frequenting more often. Hope to see any of you lovelies there!

Ok, so Liquid Oz has been there for me twice when I’ve really needed them. First time was last September. I was about to get off the B44 after my first solo 7+ mile run(the W’Burg Bridge is no joke!) and was much hungrier than I was five minutes early when I embarked. Then I remembered — I’ve never stopped at Oz! 1 block and a bagel later I felt so much better. The bagel was nice n’ fresh and with the light amount of peanut butter I had them put on I was refueled after my balmy run. Staff was cool too. And I discovered, much like Columbus, that they had alcohol too. Uh-oh! My 2nd trip wasn’t as nice as there were some over-talkative the noisy patrons. But, that wasn’t the establishments fault, though its good to see they have regulars who are comfortable. Still, that was annoying as Oz is small. So the second time I really needed them, they really came through. I’d been working on something big and was just out of it so I left the house to clear my head. Went to the hardware store across the street, then realized I hadn’t eaten since morning, hence my throbbing headache and appearance as an extra in ‘The Walking Dead.’ So in I walk and the gentleman(think he’s the owner) allows me to change up a regular order to fulfill my dietary concerns. I was so out of it folks that I called a tomato a lemon, to which the gentleman didn’t insultingly correct me but jokingly did at least. My affordable cream cheese, tomato, hooked up bagel tasted legit and allowed me to get back to my work and meet my deadline. I like that there’s a cap on laptop time there too with Wi-Fi only available for a certain amount of times and hours. Why should this be a complaint? Do you know how much rent costs on a commercial space? And now you want to use their electricity for hours too AND sit in there taking up space for other customers. There are certain coffee shops that I don’t go to because there are always laptop ‘planters’ there. Wanna write? There’s a library 3 blocks away. Or better yet write at home, but go to Liquid Oz to refuel on coffee, tea, pastries and salads!

@ Nicole D, WOW. I had the same thing happen to me – they seriously do not allow you to plug in a laptop there! Staying a few blocks away, but I will not be back.

This is not a café where you can go to write. In fact, it sucks that this café doesn’t allow people to charge their laptops when the batteries run out. We learned this the hard way today when one of the co-owners, a tall Jamaican guy, came over to my partner and I on Sunday September 18th, 2011 at approximately 11am and told us that we can’t plug our laptops in to charge them since we’ll run up the café’s electricity bill. Huh?! Isn’t this supposed to be a business? I’ve never heard this before. In this day and age when computers are central to our existence, this man had the nerve to tell us that we couldn’t do our work at his café(even when we PAID for the food and ate as he stood over us and told us to unplug our laptops). I’m a writer and my partner is finishing up her dissertation and we needed our batteries to be charged in order to complete our work for the day. We chose Liquid Oz since it’s right around the corner from us. We were certainly going to order as much coffee, muffins, and tea as possible. However, the guy had the nerve to tell us that we ought to charge our batteries before leaving our own house. Now who is he to tell us this? Clearly he stepped out of line. How did he know we weren’t coming from somewhere else where we had used our computers and simply needed to be recharge them? How did he know we didn’t intend to stay until 4pm(closing time on Sunday) and do our work in peace as we give him good business? Given the man’s conviction to tell us that he will not have us run up his electricity bill, he just lost two customers and we’ll tell our friends who are other academics and writers to stay away from this business. If you want to get work done, go to Urban Vintage, Michael Allen, or Tillies in Clinton Hill. I’d even choose fly infested Outpost over this café given the unlimited ability to plug in your laptop. A simple act. Yes, people. A simple act. This is not a third world country. My partner and I were very excited to see this café open up in our area since we live right around the corner on Macon and just lost Breadsty Café which was very dare to our Stuyvesant Heights neighborhood. Now we need another café that caters to the artists and academics among us. A place where we can write, eat, drink and be merry and productive without the hassle of someone telling us to unplug our computers. For this reason, I give this place only 3 stars.(The reason why I didn’t give them less than 3 is because the other 3 individuals who work in the store — the short, bald woman who is the sweetest, the slightly effeminate gentleman who makes the best Ice-teas, and Caucasian girl who goes out of her way to take your order — those are the people we’ve interacted with in the past who had us coming back for the good service. In fact we only used to drop in the café and order coffee before we decided on Sunday to stick around and use our laptops. That was when things turned sour and how one experience truly colored our impression of the place. I have never seen the Jamaican guy before).

I’m really glad that this place this opened up. It’s the only place to get a decent cup of coffee in the neighborhood. They even have soymilk. The staff is friendly, too.

I’m not sure what to call this. A coffee shop? I dunno. But I can call this one of the coolest places I’ve gone to since moving to Bed Stuy. The area itself is dead, but Liquid Oz livens Malcolm X Blvd. The muffins, pastries, and soups are tasty. As far as the soups go, I’ve had the clam chowder and the turkey chili. Liquid Oz’s clam chowder was the first bowl of clam chowder I’ve ever tried, and I thought it was really good. This past weekend, I went in specifically for the turkey chili and the corn muffin, and it was oh so good. I was stuffed afterwards after downing a glass of cranberry juice. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. The first time I even noticed Liquid Oz, I was walking to the subway and just so happened to turn my head to the right. If you’re not paying attention, you’ll definitely miss it. After that time, every time I would walk by and glance in, somebody on their staff would look back at me and smile like, «You know you want to come in…» A cool aspect of Liquid Oz is the monthly movie night, with $ 3 popcorn. I stumbled upon the movie night a month ago when I was actually going in for some food(and this was my first time going to Liquid Oz). I didn’t have cash on me, and promised I’d be back the following Monday to buy food and to pay back the $ 3. And I kept my word(Yay me!) Perhaps two downsides to Liquid Oz are that the place is a bit small, so I’m not sure how the space would be able to handle a large event. Also, you can only pay with cash now. Maybe in the future they’ll get the debit/credit capability. Other than that, Liquid Oz is once of the coolest and sexiest aspects of living in Bed Stuy. Definitely check it out.

Nice addition to the nabe! Fresh pastries and really good food(although a wee bit pricey for the area.). Love the muffins, and the soups are nice. Ive had the regular coffee, and its good to get the day started, but I haven’t tried any specialty coffee drinks or «sipping chocolates» although I’m sure they’re divine. The service is with a smile(yay!). The space is a bit small, so not sure how it will do for larger crowds or the intended bar service, but its welcoming, and sparkling new. Definitely will make more trips here.

Great, hip space with friendly and accommodating staff. The coffee is okay(but I’m pretty picky), their pastries are dangerously delicious and their soups(I’m inhaling the turkey chili as I type) are tasty and homemade. I’m really excited for them to get their liquor license and the launch of their brunch menu. Definitely a place to keep an eye on and a gem on up and coming Malcolm X Blvd.
