Delicious breakfast, strong coffee, not pretentious in the least bit, fantastic service. Did not disappoint.

Hello South Slope! I’m one of the musicians you can see in the photos for this place. It is with a lot of disappointment that I have to report how the Lopez establishment has wronged me and the rest of my band. I truly used to love this place. Our arrangement with them playing music was as a trade for store credit.(I was eating here all the time anyway!.) We use the credit about 10 or 20 dollars at a time for brunch, lunch, coffee, etc and had a decent amount of credit saved from months of playing there for their Saturday brunch. They have now suddenly decided the deal is no longer good and that they won’t honor the credit we’ve accumulated. They made this deal with musicians, exploited our talents, and then refused to continue fullfilling their payment. This is stealing, exploiting, and artist abuse. I informed them that this community(That I’ve been apart of for many years) will not stand for it. Please join me. Go somewhere else.

I wanted to love this café, I really did. My husband and I walked by and saw how crowded the restaurant was for brunch and decided to give it a try. However, when so many things happen and didn’t happen, it is hard to ignore the signs. — The servers were friendly but forgetful. I was never given a glass of water and eventually got up to ask for water. When we asked for a check, it never came. When I followed up with someone, they seemed to misplace the check and asked me what I ordered. Other diners seemed to have similar experiences(e.g., asking for milk for their coffee but no milk was provided). — The food was good but slow to come out. We probably waited 20 – 25 minutes for our food to come out. We got the Challah French Toast with caramelized bananas. It was supposed to be served with whipped cream but that never came out. Also had the Huevos con Chorizo — Decent and with a kick. Scrambled eggs could have been fluffier and an extra tortilla would have been nice. Sorry, but it doesn’t look like we will be coming back any time soon.

STAFF: As you enter, you’re welcomed by friendly staff who are smiling and ready to serve you. FOOD: That Pumpkin latte with Leche Condensada(Condensed milk) is sooo good. Just sit and sip! The Deviled Egg Salad is VERY fresh and flavorful with Chick pea, Corn, Tomatoes, Grapes. Deelish!

OMFG, there’s a place that serves nitro cold brew on tap, BLOCKSFROMMYHOUSE!!! WHY did it take me so long to realize this?! Unbelievably, I meandered in on a cold weekend evening after fetching groceries at a few other spots nearby, just expecting to grab a cheap cuppa joe. The owner was incredibly charming and friendly and let me sample the nitro as well as the flat cold brew, and we geeked out about coffee for a little bit. the coffee is unexpectedly delicious here, and I hesitate to admit that since I feel like I want to keep this place all to my self, but knowing that it’s family owned and operated, I want them to really flourish(which they seem to be!). while I haven’t really sampled baked goods or food here yet, that’ll definitely change, soon!

Great food! I love coming here to get my lunch. They have a wide variety of items on their menu, ranging from mexican to italian to american to pastries. I’ve tried a bunch of items from their menu and haven’t been disappointed in the quality of food yet. I only wished that there wasn’t such a long wait time for my food. I basically have to order my lunch 45 mins before my lunch break so i can get it in time. My favorite menu item so far is the Chilaquiles which has the perfect amount of spiciness to it. I am always craving for that and if i’m ever around that area i would just think of ordering from here. Their chicken torta is packed with meat, a bit messy to eat but they don’t skimp on ur sandwich! I also am a sucker for a good pesto sandwich and if you are too… try the brooklyn bridge panini.

Service is always friendly and coffee & cappuccinos are spot on. It’s family friendly but yet quiet enough to be zoning out– reading or working on your laptop. Most of the pastries are decent but their chili is so savory to say the least, YUM! This place is down to earth and relaxed with good vibes! Defiantly a universal spot as far as, alone time, family time, breakfast/lunch date, or just a cup of coffee with your girl friends!

This is the kind of place you want to take your special-someone-hopefully-to-be for brunch after the first night at your place. Trust me on that. Here are the reasons: the food is fantastic and it is very emotionally satisfying.(So when I say that, you can perhaps think of food that is very delicious, but doesn’t make you feel like you just got a hug. See what I mean? Here it’s different, here you get a hug!) And then the food is affordable and because you are hungry now for various reasons I will not write down you need to eat, but if you anyways are in this neighborhood you need to also eat and feed on a budget. And then the place has a very lovely comfortable atmosphere, like an extension of your living room. So you will not feel odd, which is important. And later on, if everything worked out with you two, you will remember that very important breakfast after night #1 that you had here as a very fond, warm, great memory and unless you move you even can come back ever after if things go well. Having said all that, of course there is absolutely no reason not to come here and eat breakfast if you are by yourself or if you take people who you did not spend a first night with or even any night at all, because the food is still great and affordable also for you and the atmosphere is welcoming.

I came across this place by accident. It was so hot outside I came in for ice coffee and to hog the AC. These guys are really friendly and inviting. Prices are good, people really seem to be enjoying the food and I have to say I found the most interesting art book on the table by the straws«what time is it on the sun» Spencer Finch. Amazed by the guys work and the heat sensitive paper on the inside cover. They have really delicious fresh baked bread too and hibiscus iced tea.

–Essen(65%) Geschmack ****(4) Aussehen ****(4) Frische/Reife ****(4) Preis *****(5) –Location(20%) Sauberkeit ****(4) Ambiente ****(4) Atmosphäre ****(4) –Service(15%) Freundlichkeit ****(4) Flexibilität ****(4) Aufmerksamkeit ****(4) Total: ****(4.1)

Our go-to breakfast spot! To the point where my partner left his credit card there one day, and a week later, they recognized him and gave it back.(Thanks, Solomon!) Their bacon egg and cheese sandwiches are amazing(the bread is just a little sweet and the bacon is always perfectly cooked), and I’ve never had anything but a delicious meal while I’m there. Chorizo hash, eggs benedict, chilaquiles, tostadas — everything has been incredible. They have a nice selection of tasty coffees and smoothies, too. Service can be on the slower side, but all the staff is so friendly that I’ve never minded, and for take-out service, they’re very quick. Everything is very affordable and tasty. It’s a perfect place to linger over breakfast with friends.

We came here today and we had a big group. I had their hamburger — it’s the first time for me to have a burger with avocado slices in it, plus melted cheese. It had that pleasant almost vegetarian taste and I noted how big was the serving of the french fries which were not soggy, came crisp and tasty(I almost finished it!). Also had their brewed coffee. I didn’t taste the foods that my companions ordered but they all looked great to me(they had different kinds of egg meals, oatmeal). I could see that this is an ideal place for a meet up, not pretentious and has generally attentive and quick service. Prices are OK. The place is nothing really when it comes to design or décor, which you’ll notice right away in many other food places in this area.

Food was awesome. I had the chorizo eggs benedict and the ray smoothie. Both were really good. Bought Conchas and other pastries from here before and they are really fresh! Service is excellent and everything came out in a very timely matter. Would recommend this place to any friends. Great place to have breakfast with your family and/or your special someone.

Ok so everything I said about this place still stands. It’s affordable, tasty, and one of my favorite neighborhood spots. But after talking to a friend who went here for dinner and reading other reviews about takeout, I just have to add that you MUST go here for BRUNCH. They shine at brunch, but maybe not for dinner. Also, when ordering takeout, you have to pick the solid brunch choices to get what I’m talking about. Just ordered takeout and am very pleased. Other reviews say the sandwiches or wraps they ordered aren’t any good. I just ordered the mexique omelette and the quality is the same as in house. As for their baked goods, the bread loaves is where it’s at. The cake is OK, not great. Tarts were alright. Empanadas are great heated. Cannoli is no good. But the cheesecake brownie is super yummy. Also, the Spanish latte here has my heart. Seriously, go here for brunch and you’ll love it. But you need to know what to order! Great place.

This s a French/Spanish influenced family owned café I really like family owned cafes like this and I am so happy to have access to a nice place just in walking distance of my neighborhood in the Windsor Terrace/south slope of Brooklyn. I recommend the chorizo hash and the latte as its great at curing a very late night of live music at nearby Freddy’s. The owner does nice latte art work. You can also have the lumberjack breakfast my only regret is that I cant come here more often as I spend most of my time working in Washington DC and only visit NYC once a month. This is a ‘K’ recommended café for meals at all times of the day.

My usual hungover-Saturday and Sunday order spot. I’ve ordered their egg sandwiches, pancakes, and the chorizo hash. It’s all pretty good and won’t disappoint. Have also had lunch/dinner. The steak sandwich is delicious. Just recently had their chicken fingers and they’re some of the best I’ve had, probably because its more of a panko type of batter rather than the usual«diner» chicken fingers. Coffee is killer, churros are crowd pleasers. I really don’t have much to say negatively about this place except that they may sometimes disregard special instructions on Grubhub. OTher than that, it’s a favorite place of mine.

If you’re looking for great food and fast, friendly service, go somewhere else. I’ve eaten in the restaurant and ordered delivery from here maybe 3 or 4 times in the last year or so because it was nearby. La Boulangerie Lopez consistently misses the mark. There is always something wrong with the order. Fries = salad, sausage = bacon, wheat wrap = spinach wrap, unsweetened tea = sweet tea(it goes on). It shouldn’t be that difficult to get it right(especially when it’s printed out on a Seamless order). And when it’s wrong — no apology, no partial refund or comp, just back to work getting the next order wrong. The food is nothing special. If you’re in the area for brunch, you have better options, such as: Lot 2, j’eatJet?, Sea Witch, or Oliver Bistro. If you’re looking for Mexican food, you’re better off going down 5th Avenue into Sunset Park for more authentic and delicious options. The wait for delivery and for service in the restaurant is always excessively long in my experience. This may be a staffing problem, but it would be nice if they attempted to fix it. It’s got some decent ratings from other people, but I see some of those people were offered a discount for their Unilocal review. In short, not recommended.

I ordered take out from here the other night and I was disappointed with what I got. I got the beef empanada which was dry and had very little filling with lots of air. The dough was tough also. I also ordered 2 tacos– pernil and steak. This is not like the tacos I’m used to. It comes with a huge tortilla and the filling was dry and tasteless. Some of the pernil was so tough, I had to throw a lot of it away. There was barely any onion and cilantro. The corn mixto was also not good. The food was cheap though. Perhaps this«boulangerie» specializes in their bread selection and dishes and I just ordered the wrong stuff.

I came in here and had a good feeling. There was no waiting for weekend brunch and of course I saw that they have huevos rancheros, so I was delighted. We were immediately seated down by a very nice server and first thing we ordered was coffee. It came relatively quick and I was content as my coffee tasted great. For my entrée I decided to get the huevos rancheros like I said. The bf ordered the mole enchilada which comes with rice and beans. As we waited for our food, I chatted with my boyfried. It looks promising I said, I like the coffee, hopefully the food is good too. Finally, the food came and my huevos rancheros was incredibly confusing. If you like a tasty huevos rancheros, then don’t come here. My order consisted of watery beans, next to 2 overeasy eggs and 3 pieces of soft taco. What it looked like was exactly how it tasted, watery and tasteless. However, the mole enchilada tasted good. I ended up eating my bf’s food, it had some avocado and salad in it. I ate the avocado, but skipped the salad only because it didn’t look fresh and parts of it was not even green anymore. I don’t even know what to say, my huevos rancheros($ 6.95) felt so confusingly disappointing. I don’t even know if I want to come back there, maybe the huevos rancheros is the worst thing they have since I did find the mole enchilada good. However, wouldn’t you serve fresh salad with it instead of vegetables that look like they’re dying?
