my mom and I loved this place! Mexican food isn’t her favourite, but she really liked it. I think that says a lot. we’re not strictly vegetarian but we stay away from meat as much as possible. this was easy at Los Pollitos! I also loved that the food wasn’t too salty. that’s a problem at many restaurants these days. the guacamole was so good! everything was!!! amazing. our waiter was very patient with our questions and helpful/kind. I’ll definitely be going back!

I’ve been a long time fan of this place. In a neighborhood that’s become crowded with Mexican restaurants this old standby has remained a step above the rest. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices.

Friends and I were in the area around midnight looking for a good place that would still be open and happened to find this. I love Mexican food so I was game but wasn’t sure how it would be since we didn’t read any reviews beforehand. I ended up being pleasantly surprised. First off, prices are really pretty decent for the amount you get. I got a mango mojito for $ 9 and they definitely didn’t skimp on the alcohol! I got chicken flautas($ 12ish) for my entrée and was served a huge meal: 3 large flautas, and generous portions of rice and beans. The food is really flavorful and authentic and I love that the salsa given with the chips is actually spicy(so often it’s way too mild!). Service was great and a check-in on Unilocal gets you free flan(saved that for later since the food left me pretty full). If I’m ever in the area, I’ll definitely be back here!

Thoroughly surprised by this place. Midnight around this area for food is a ghost town. Luckily Los Pollitos was open and offering their full menu late on a Saturday night. Settled on the Pernil Torta($ 8) — beer-marinated roasted park with gooey cheese, beans, and salsa verde all on a toasted bun. The size of this thing is well worth the price. The meat is sauced well, even with every bite. Also got the red sangria($ 8) to wash it down, certainly strong and a good value. Service here is efficient and they even give free chips/salsa to start. Unilocal check-in offers a free flan, though we just didn’t have the room. Thanks for being open guys!

I’ve been here a few times with my coworkers. I usually get the quarter chicken with beans and rice and fried yuca which isn’t bad. The drinks on the other hand are really strong. The bartenders are heavy with pouring. This is definitely a great place for happy hour.

This place was blah. I ordered calamari which was ok but they sauce they provided tasted like cleaning products, disgusting taste. The quesadillas I ordered didn’t have real cheese, tasteless strips if chicken and no flavor. Even the chips they provided was bottom of the barrel. Overall if the appetizers taste like this I definitely don’t want to try the main course. The mango mojito was decent not to strong which didn’t bother me because I’m not a heavy drinker. Would I come back here prob not.

Visiting NYC for first time from DC. Looking for good tex mex/Mexican cuisine. Ordered soft tacos, salmon, empanadas, quesadilla, and carne asada. All good. Margaritas too were pretty yummy but small glasses. Good service too. Family of 5 with a few drinks was about $ 190 so not a bad value. Would go again.

Guacamole was freshly made and nice and spicy. Drinks were served fast and well made. However the food took 45 minutes to be served. The shrimp tacos needed mor shrimps. The chicken was moist and tasty. I would come again but the wait needs to be improved!

It’s decent, relatively cheap Mexican food. I feel like everything is a little overpriced, likely because of the location. It’s got outdoor seating, a big plus, and the staff is attentive enough. If the prices were 30% lower it would rank as a great value Mexican joint. As it is, it’s just ok.

Two stars because the food was decent. Not great but not bad. Service was awful. Even though the place was mostly empty, we waited forever to have our orders taken. Then we ordered even longer to be brought anything. Our appetizer and entrees came out simulatenously which defeated the purpose of getting an appetizer. No one checked on us and we had a hard time flagging down the waitress to get a water refill. My bf never even got his water even though he clearly asked for a beer and a glass of water. Really meh experience. Could’ve just gone to chipotle for half the hassle.

Their happy hour is probably the best time to come. Otherwise, I wasn’t happy with the small glass of sangria that came at a hefty price. I didn’t even bother with the pitcher as it is insanely priced. I had the red sangria and it was decent, just a little sweet. My friend had the piña colada, which was humungous. We both got the rotisserie chicken platter because everyone recommended it, and it’s not terrible, but not great. I was expecting more seasoning on the chicken, but a little healthier is okay. We also got the guacamole, which was pretty small and came with very greasy chips. The décor was okay. It’s what you expect at a 3-star. The service, I would rate 2 – 3 stars just because it wasn’t really there when I wanted it to be, and my answers were not answered. I asked about Happy Hour since it was 6:59, and the waitress told us it’s going on until 7. I asked even at this time? She just repeated it and walked away. 7:04, someone comes over and tells us it’s over. Oh well… The food does not match the location, but the price does.

Recomendable!

So my friend and I came here after going to Bogota and being told their was over an hour wait. We were HUNGRY and impatient… we looked across the street and saw this place and thought why the heck not try it! j The place was practically empty, there were maybe 6 – 8 other people dining total. Unlike many of the other reviews I’ve read, we actually had pretty good service. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and our food was served promptly. But, this could’ve been due to the fact that there was hardly anyone in the place… maybe when it’s busier they struggle to keep up. Like others have said, their guacamole is pretty durn good. It was made fresh and brought out with fresh chips. Yay! We had flavored mojitos(one mango and one passion fruit) to drink. They were good and came in tall glasses, but weren’t too strong, Aside from the guac, my friend ordered the shrimp salad and I the shrimp quesadilla. My friend enjoyed her salad. The shrimp on the salad were large and perfectly cooked and the veggies were fresh. The quesadilla was a bit on the small side and not very memorable/exciting, but the ingredients were fresh. The flavoring was definitely American-Mexican(wouldn’t even really call it Tex-mex… if that makes sense). If I was in the area and Bogota were crowded again, I’d probably go back out of convenience… but I wouldn’t voluntarily go here. There are much better options in Brooklyn and around the city, but again if you’re in the area, it’s an a-ok option.

I gave this place 4 stars because their drinks and food is delicious and very tasty. The ambience and settle, nice for a max of four people. The service was ok, but not good enough to grant this restaurant a 5 star review. I loveeeee mexican food, so I was very satisfied in that matter.

Good food, interesting décor. A bit uptight, waiters need to lighten up a bit! After having a drink I made small talk with the waitress and she was all smiles I guess a tad shy

The GUACAMOLE! I was meeting someone here, but I didn’t know that there’s actually 2 Los Pollitos within the same neighborhood; as a result, I ordered a shrimp burrito and chips and guacamole, watched a soccer game and ate by myself for an hour, waiting. Finally, my friend showed up. Yippee. The food is pretty outstanding. I love Mexican food and I liked that they made my guacamole spicy.

I came here many years ago and wasn’t impressed enough to return. But, with the long wait at Bogota, and a friend from out of town who hadn’t had Latin food in a while, we decided to give it a shot. We were pleasantly surprised. The jalapeño and mango margarita was refreshing, with a chile and salt rim, but not much heat in the tequila. The guacamole was fresh, not picante enough, but solid. I had the sope con camarones: good flavor on the shrimp, sope, and beans, lots of iceburg lettuce and sad looking tomatoes. But still, quite tasty. My friend had the ensalada de nopales, which was lightly dressed, and the nopales were grilled, adding good smoky flavor. Also the spinach burrito, which was also fresh. The server was friendly and everything was tasty, American-Mexican food. Recently, when I had the guacamole with a delivery, I was less impressed. It was loaded with out of season tomatoes and didn’t have a lot of flavor. The tortilla soup was okay, and abuela’s chicken soup was good. The refried beans were tasty.
