Had such a great time there. There was a duo singing, playing keyboard in back of a karoke machine, and the crowd was singing, dancing. Great time. Now, for the food. I had been there about 25 years ago and to tell the truth, didn’t like it. This time was different. The baked clams and shrimp oreganata just melted in my mouth. Loved it. My gf loved it too. And the crowd was so friendly there, some couple we never met gave us a ride home! It was like being transported back to the better times… Only thing is, it is a bit pricey, but most Italian restaurants are.

I dined here once about 25 years ago and thought it was excellent. But somehow I never returned. I had lunch recently with a friend… very light fare. Cup of minestrone was good, but seemed more generic than Italian. A salmon avocado salad was also good, with a decent portion of smoked salmon. Groupon.

The first two times I came here I was extremely happy. Service was great and the food was even greater. But that changed completely. My friend and I were craving crab cakes and chicken Parmesan. We loved it last time so decided to come back for more. We got seated and placed our order, great. The first technicality we noticed was that nobody brought us water so we had to ask.whatever. Minor. After 15 mins of waiting for our food we see our waiter. It took a whole minute to flag him down to add something to our order(mind you, he wasn’t busy with another table). He walks up to us, annoyed, and blurts out«I don’t know why you ordered crab cakes. It’s not on the menu. Didn’t you see that?» Now that’s true. It’s not on the menu. but they make crab cakes. We’ve had them there two times before. Now I’m thinking why he couldn’t tell us this when we first ordered, that today they don’t have them? Rude and a waste of time. Instead we opted for their mango arugula salad with goat cheese(it was just OK) & mussels. We then needed a water refill and once again it took quite some time to flag down our waiter. Whatever. He came back with a pitcher, angry, and OVERFILLED my glass! SERIOUSLY? No apology. Didn’t offer to clean the spill. Nothing. I just looked at my friend and shrugged. I don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon. Maybe retrain your staff to be a little bit more courteous?

My aunt took me here one day because she had Groupon. I don’t even go to Olive Garden for Italian. This is ALWAYS first choice. The fettuccine alfredo is delicious. I always get it with shrimp. It’s always saucy just the way I like alfredo. They ask if you want Parmesan sprinkled on top. I never decline lol. I suggested Maria’s for a first date & my date finished his plate before I did!

Here’s My Take Excellent Food… Nicely Priced Good Waiter… Staff Very Helpful Drinks Could Be Costly… But Strong… Not Watered Down Groupon Deals Toward The Bill… One Groupon Per Table… Mon-Thurs Only Nice Entertainment On The Weekend Coffee $ 3.50… Cake $ 7.00…Not Included… High Priced . That’s Where They Get You Check Your Bill For Added Fees Such As Entertainment Cost Or Tip… Which They Must Disclose Ahead Of Time…

We came in for a quick bite before going to a movie. The service was excellent. Paolo was friendly and very informative. He made the meal very agreeable. We had the old standbys chicken parmigiana and eggplant Parmigiana. We had a wonderful time !! Come and eat !

Came here for a dinner date with the BF. We were seated right away(we did make a reservation, but the place was empty when we came in). We started things off with the Peach Salad which was refreshing and yummy. We then split the Penne Alla Vodka; Tortellini Carbonara & the Chicken Cacciatore. Every dish was superb and we highly recommend this place. Service was top notch and we were given plenty of attention from the servers.

I really enjoy this place. The staff won’t tell you what to order, but if you ask them what’s good, they’ll tell you the big hits for the week. Italian restaurants tend to have diner sized menus so it’s important to ask the staff what they recommend, and these guys will tell you what’s good. I’ve been coming here for years and that’s the key. Other than that, it’s a nice date spot, close to the water, a bit pricey. Couldn’t be happier.

Came here for a double date with my boyfriend yesterday because he had a Groupon for it. The restaurant was completely empty but it still took them over 15 minutes to seat us. It should not have taken that long since we were the only party there. They finally seated us and my boyfriend and his friend pulled out the Groupon on their phones which states that the Groupon is limited to one per person and since we were on a double date it’d be split between the couples. They refused to let us use both tickets when we were obviously 2 separate couples. My boyfriend and I ended up moving to the next table over so that we could use our Groupon. This created an awkward dinner environment as we had to talk to the backs of our friends. We wanted to enjoy a nice dinner together but it ruined by the atmosphere since they forced us to move. This makes no sense whatsoever as now they have an extra table to clean up and the tip will be smaller since it’s going to be on a smaller bill. It would have not only been easier for us but also for them to just create 2 separate bills for us since dinner would be split among 2 different parties. But, if they want to inconvenience themselves fine. Food was standard Italian fare. I had a penne vodka and the boyfriend ordered a chicken scarpariello which came with a side of pasta so he asked for angel hair. My penne vodka was pretty standard as for as Italian places like this go, there wasn’t anything special about it that wow’d me, considering their customer service I’d rather go somewhere else with better service for the same quality of penne vodka. My boyfriend said his chicken scarpariello was just ok. On top of that they messed up my boyfriend’s order and gave him penne instead of angel hair but we couldn’t be bothered to go ask them to change it. We had to ask Parmesan on our food, usually at places like this they come around and ask if you want. But, once they realized this they also came and offered black pepper for our food. Their portions were pretty big so at least we felt full. I had a cranberry vodka with my dinner and my boyfriend had a jack with coke for himself. The drinks were pretty strong so at least they didn’t try to water them down on us. Perhaps they were trying to get us drunk so we would forget about the bad experience? We had a young waiter, I forgot his name but he was tall, tanned with an olive undertone and short black hair and way too much hair gel, which gross because you work around food ALL day. He tried his best to be accommodating(it was the manager that said we couldn’t use our Groupons, not him). But, oh my god this boy was a hot freaking mess. Our friends ordered before us so they got their food first and no one was paying any attention expect for me and I noticed his hand tilted her wine glass a little bit and spilled some wine onto the table. He didn’t even try and wipe it up after, he just left it there like that. And when he took out our friend’s chicken parm he dropped some sauce on her and didn’t even apologize to her. When he took their plates away he knocked their glasses over. When it was our turn to get our table cleared he dropped a fork on me. With a table split into 2 groups, he has no excuse for dropping this many things, it was just 2 people. When he came with our check there was no pen with it and we ended up having to dig one out of our purses for him. Overall: standard Italian food, nicely decorated if you wanted a romantic date but AWFUL customer service. I would not recommend coming back here. There are much better Italian places in Brooklyn where you will be treated with more respect.

I placed a order over the phone and drove there to pick it up. I called upon arrival and the employees were nice enough to come outside to collect the payment and bring me the food. I had my little dog in the car with me, and it was hot out. Not only is the food great, there service is excellent!

I brought my dad here form Father’s day. For some reason, in my memory it was situated directly on the water, looking out onto Sheepshead Bay, but in reality it was across the street. Not that I’d been here before, but I used to think I should try it whenever I happened to be in the area in the past. Ah well, so much for the view. Though to be fair, there is sidewalk seating if you wish to have the Bay as your setting. We ate inside, because the humidity was enough to drive even me to the air conditioning. There’s a nice bar area right by the door, and the dining area is a clean, no-frills kind of space. The host was very genial, and thorough about making sure everything was just right. That helped a lot, because everyone was late and I was quite flustered when I first got to the restaurant. The food arrived after we’d had enough initial awkward conversation, and everyone was pretty pleased. You definitely get an emphasis on Italy’s cuisine from the sea on the menu, and my dad roundly approved of his swordfish, while I was also quite pleased with my al dente linguine with white clam sauce. Let me note that this was a different take on the white sauce than I expected; I’m used to having a creamy version, while this was thinner and more redolent of clam juice and the sea. My beloved hates fish and shellfish, so he opted for fettuccine Alfredo. While unextraordinary as a dish, that’s a pretty important standard by which to judge an Italian restaurant; his last forkful did not come too long after his first, he enjoyed it so. I have to say that while the quality of the food overall was very good, it would have merited more of a 3-star rating, but I really liked the host, and it was a nice positive vibe all-around. The restaurant was pretty quiet while we were there, given that it was a Sunday. I hope it survives the assault that Sheepshead Bay restauants have been experiencing in the past several years; it was nice and homey, it would be a shame to lose Maria’s.

Thank goodness for the living social deal! Service was very good. Semolina bread was served slightly warmed, could have been hotter, so the cold butter will melt better. Chicken parmagina and veal marsala tasted good, but my pasta was served in a watery/red sauce, not AMAZING :(Just wished the chefs could spend more efforts on perfecting the food, so it will be an amazing neighborhood restaurant. I see they’re trying, keep on improving the food!!! YOUCANDOIT!

I went with my wife and a friend yesterday to Marias for dinner. The restaurant itself was airy and clean. We ordered for dinner a chicken Francaise a eggplant parm and ziti with vodka sauce. All of the dishes were very good and portion size was large. Service was excellent and very responsive. This has been the first time I have been to Marias in over 20 years and I must say it was a good as I remember. The price to value ratio is about average for this type of restaurant. All in all this was a very good experience and I look forward to returning in the near future.

Staff is super friendly, its very cozy and romantic and the food is delicious! I always try different dishes and am always happy. I had my baby shower there as well and the service and food was short of spectacular the owner Jeff worked well with my budget. People left with their bellies full and happy

Disappointed… I heard very good things about this place, but unfortunately that’s not what I experienced. When my wife and I first sat down, we heard the waitress apologizing to a table near us «for the inconvenience», If that wasn’t the sign to leave, maybe the 15 minutes we sat waiting for our order to be taken was. They were clearly slow staffed as the table next to us remained dirty with a check sitting on it for the entire meal… The mussels were not very good, my steak was over cooked and my wife’s shrimp was«ok». Maybe we just caught a bad night, but i left hungry and disappointed.

Went here for dinner on a Groupon. The place is nice, dim and romantic. Very very small. There was live music which was pretty bad. This woman who was old enough to be my grandmother was singing«Don’t cha» by the pussycat dolls and«All about that bass» by Megan Trainor. The whole time she was singing I was just praying for her to stop lol I’m not mean but it was def. Out of her age group and vocal range. I ordered the penne a LA vodka and hubby the spaghetti bolognese with chicken parm. The penne a LA vodka was awful. It tasted like buttery noodles. It wasn’t even a pinky or orangey color. More yellow toned and it was soupy. Yuck. Now I absolutely love food. LOVE! And for me not to try Hubby’s food says a lot! His spaghetti bolognese looked disgusting! Like noodles and wet cat food. It consisted of Grey toned ground beef and hubby said it tasted like crap! The chicken was decent, very large and looked presentable. I also ordered mozzarella in carrozza which is breaded and fried mozzarella. It was alright nothing to rave about. We drank some cheap red wine which was free with our meal and called it a night. Oh yeah, the service blew. I had no idea who was our waiter and no one came to check on us. Thank goodness it was a cheap Groupon!

Went went it Maria Restaurant with a groupon. We were seated in the front room right next to the fireplace. It was really dark because the light bulb above us was out, but the fire was next to our table so I guess it made up for it. They bring to the table a basket of bread that is partially warm and partially not; I think it was reheated too many times. We got the Caesar salad to split, which was a good size and tasted good, the croutons were really mushy though. For an entrée i ordered chicken Valentino which was sauted chicken cutlets with asparagus, roasted peppers, and mozzarella over linguini, my boyfriend ordered veal pizzaiolo over linguini. Both of our meals were good. The chicken Valentino came in more of a creamy sauce which I was not expecting. I thought it would of been made in a wine sauce being that on the menu it said it was made with white wine. The prices are decent and so is the food. The service is good and the staff is friendly. Maria Ristorante is worth trying out for a neighborhood dinner.

My mom was in the mood for Italian food so we tried this restaurant simply because it was close to her home. When we arrived I asked about the pre fixe deal advertised outside but the waiter quickly dismissed it and said that it was not offered on the weekends(but it was Friday which is not the weekend the last time I checked). It was pretty empty for a Friday evening so we had our pick of tables. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated in a way that it made u feel as if you having dinner in someone’s family dining room. The service was pretty good and prompt(well to be fair it was empty). As for the food we shared an appetizer of crab cakes. They were made differently from what I am used to but they were very good. I order the chicken cacciatore with broccoli which was just OK because it was a little bland but cooked up tender. My mom had the eggplant parmigiana with string beans which she said was a dry and not what she expected. Also not sure why but the sides of vegetables were greasy but bland like the food. The best part of our meal was the crab cake appetizer. I was initially happy to find an Italian restaurant in the area but I wouldn’t return especially at their prices.
