Nice looking bar, incredibly reasonably priced but food is way below average.

Just had a private party here for a birthday/graduation. The spacious top floor was closed off for us and we had access to the two balconies. It was a great night! Mike, Orlando, and the rest of the staff were amazing and we couldn’t have asked for a better party! Good food, good drinks, good people. Truly a pleasure to have been able to use this space, highly recommend. Thank you to everyone at McMahons!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the management and staff for ensuring I had a great event. I am extremely grateful for the professionalism, and attention to detail of the staff in ensuring that my husband’s surprise 40th Birthday went smoothly. Orlando is awesome, helpful, and extremely hard working! He ensured that everything was taken care of the entire night. He did not miss a beat. The food was fantastic, and everyone had a grand olé time.

True Irish Pub — right down to the owner. Great place for a pre/post game beer and snack.

Just leaving this place for the second time tonight. It’s a pretty nice pub but here’s what went wrong. My friends who happen to be Caucasian got up to leave with the money for their drinks clearly visible on the table. I was still sitting with two other friends who happen to have brown skin. The waitress who was missing for the last 25 minutes runs over and says we need to leave a card for the tab. Maybe just a coincidence but strange since she didn’t ask for anything the entire time my white friends were there. But as soon as they took off, things changed. I gave her my card with a smile as she apologized for asking for it about ten times. Later on, my friend graciously covered the entire bill and I guess we weren’t paying attention and she mixed up our cards. An easy mistake but I had to jump out of bed and return to the bar just to give him his card and get mine back. I know everyone makes mistakes but just be careful of the female waitress. I returned to the bar and yelled at the bartender.(sorry, man) It was just a hassle & I was pissed, wasn’t personal. And an extra $ 20 in cab fees. Probably won’t be in a rush to go back here.

Came into the bar to get a drink and something to eat with my dad before the LA Kings played the Islanders last week. Good food good drinks! As I was walking into Barclays I realized I forgot my phone at the bar! My stomach dropped because I was going to probably be without a phone for the rest of my vacation in NYC. I returned to the bar and a friendly waitress had my phone! My vacation was not ruined thx Mcmahon’s staff!

The beer is good for the price but the food SUCKED. We ordered the wings and that was probably the only good part to our meal. We were in the mood for pub food so naturally we ordered the nachos. When they came out, I got a plate of 10 chips, a tube of cold velveeta, and cold chili dumped onto a plate. So disgusting that I had to send it back and make sure I wasn’t charged for it. We were all so disappointed and most likely won’t come back, for the food at least. If I’m in the area and we want a beer and this happens to be the nearest bar, then I’d consider it but would definitely think twice. Don’t come here looking for a meal because it’s not worth it and you’ll leave with rumbles in your stomach from indigestion.

We had such a great first impression of McMahon’s. Two of us walked in maybe 90 minutes before an Islanders game, looking for friends who were meeting us there. A man(host? assistant manager?) immediately spotted us and asked if we wanted to be seated; when we said we were looking for friends who may or may not be there yet, he encouraged us to look around. It was already pretty busy, we were lost and in the way, and all he greeted us with was kindness and a smile. Not finding our friends, he graciously took a «reserved» sign off a table and let us snag it! Pretty solid beer list — really, there’s something on it for everyone. The«event» menu is limited, as others have mentioned, with I recall only one vegetarian option(penne with vodka sauce). That was disappointing, but it’s something I generally expect with Irish pubs. Their regular menu does include a veggie burger(I wish it were on the event menu too!). I had some fries; they were solid. Everyone in our group enjoyed either the burger or the chicken parm sub. Food orders seemed to slow down significantly once it was about an hour from puck drop, and our waitress got the last round of beers wrong, but I chalk that up to a very busy kitchen and bar(everyone eventually got their food, as ordered and hot off the line, and an incorrect beer is still a beer. We didn’t say anything because we got how busy everyone was). Overall, I’d say this is a pretty great pub. The ambiance was cozy, friendly, and fun on a week night/game night. TVs were well-located above the bar and easy to see. The staff were agreeable, especially whoever greeted us. I’d go back!

great spot for pre-show/game dinner & drinks! A friend recommend McMahon’s for food & drinks before a concert I was attending at the Barclay’s center. It’s a short, direct walk down 5th Ave which was perfect — easy to find & get to, especially important in chilly months! The place is actually quite large but the set up & seating arrangements could be a bit better. It seemed like there was a lot of open space. Everyone was standing around/near the bar so it would’ve been nice to have a few more tabletops. We ended up grabbing a table which was simple — altho the place were fairly crowded the servers(and I think possibly the owner/manager) were moving fast to get people in/out and seated. They had a nice beer list with a good amount of options and a simple«event» menu which we both liked. A few solid options made ordering easy & fast — it’s pretty standard bar food tho. We had the burger & mozz sticks, both were delicious & came out pretty fast. FYI, upstairs bar is cash only but downstairs accepts cards. Also, there were a lot of TVs. I don’t live in the area but if I did I’d probably frequent if I needed a place to watch multiple games — although maybe not when there was an event going on at Barclays since I’m sure it would be packed beforehand.

This was one of the better fish and chips I have had in the city. The batter was thin, and it wasn’t oily. Evidently, they will soon be making their own tarter sauce, so I’ll have to come back soon. The fries were fresh cut. Bartender was pleasant and had good drink pours.

Awesome sports bar and restaurant. Saw the UFC193 Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm fight there. Beer was great. Bartenders were cool and crowd was hip and sociable. Next time I’ll order some food when I go back.

If you’re coming from the Barclay’s Center and need a night cap and quick tasteless bar food, this is your spot. But there are a lot of bars and restaurants in competition with the pre and post stadium folks so you might find a better place if you stroll a few blocks further down 5th avenue. I’ve been here a few times because they open early-ish on the weekends it’s nice to have an open air bar to your self on a Saturday morning when you want to take in a soccer game. Big space, few people. They could make this place great if the bartenders were more personable, knowledgable of the sport they’re advertising, and for crissakes, a better menu. You’re competing with at least 4 other bar/restaurants within a block of each other. Try harder. Their bloody Marys are poured straight from a Mrs. Ts bottle! Try harder. I came here after a hiatus of a couple weeks only to get a bloody Mary in a tiny tumbler glass. What?!? And still the same price I got it in a pint glass a few weeks earlier. Who makes bloody Marys in tumblers??? Try harder! They have this giant bar. Beautiful upstairs that’s only for big parties. What!!! The only place with a upstairs outdoor space and you don’t use it??? Oh right, you have no customers except drunk folks after an event at Barclays. Try harder. This isn’t the neighbor where you can be slightly under mediocre and stay in business.

Came here for the lunch special. Had the corned beef and chicken and rice soup. For $ 8.95? That was a steal! They don’t have bottled non-alcoholic drinks, that’s the only minus. The rest is great. Corned beef wasn’t dry. Nice tasty bun as well. The baha fish tacos my girlfriend got wasn’t that good though.

This place is a solid 3 stars. Stopped in for food after having drinks at another neighborhood bar. The space itself is quite large. A nice sized bar area in the front and an equally nice sized dining area in the back. The bar area had quite a few people lingering around enjoying themselves and watching a soccer game at the time. The dining area was practically empty. We took a seat at one of the high top tables in the bar area. The bartender came from behind the bar and took our orders. She was not the most friendly or pleasant person but she did her job. I had the buffalo wings which were pretty solid. My friend had chicken fingers in which he enjoyed. Overall, it’s a decent place but nothing distinctly special. I’m sure it gets crowded when there are basketball games or other events going on at the Barclays Center.

I’m surprised i’m writing a 2 star review for a happy hour bar… I’ve been here twice now, the first time was actually decent, but the second time reverses anything good this place had going on. The first time, met a few friends for a few drinks. Sat at one of the high tops, had a few drinks, a few shots, and the price was pretty good(buy backs sitting at a table, we’re happy with) The second time, came before a Nets game, during happy hour. Now, there is a sign outside, telling you what the happy hour deal is for drinks. So we order a decent beer first round, 4 people, $ 22. Then we go, meh, lets just order the happy hour drink, so we do, and for 4 people, it turns out to be more expensive(when it should have been about $ 10 cheaper. Most likely won’t return, because there wasn’t even a willingness to accommodate here.

If you have a great group of people, it doesn’t matter where you are, there is always going to be a good time. Met up here with some colleagues, we called ahead to reserve a table although they don’t really take reservations(score). Great food(fish and chips, wings) and service. A friend got the irish breakfast which looked amazing. We even asked to change a few tv screens to the football games which they obliged. What I was most impressed about is their beer glasses. Now, I drink beer often, but mostly at home or at a friend’s but enough. McMahon’s was the first time I’ve seen angry orchard being served in an angry orchard glass! I was super impressed. You guys, McMahon’s has Carlsberg! Okay, okay, I get that this might not be the most exciting news on Unilocal today, but after a visit to the Carlsberg brewery in Denmark a few years back, I perk up just a little bit whenever I see their endearing logo on the front of a bar in NYC. It beckons me and I must enter and have a pint, no matter what. That’s exactly what I did this past Sunday. My boyfriend and I were searching for a sports bar to watch his Eagles, and that lovely logo popped into view. If I HAVE to watch the Eagles, it might as well be while drinking a Carlsberg. We moseyed in, and walked to the big room in the back, since there weren’t seats available at the bar. The back room is lined with TVs, and we were easily able to pick a table with the best view for the game. He ordered some wings and waffle fries, and I got a corned beef sandwich that was on the specials(I believe it was called the Brooklynator. The food was solid pub food. The waffle fries were just the right amount of crispy, and I don’t think I need to tell you again that I was pleased with the beer. Service was wonderful and attentive. After the game, we waved goodbye to the enormous taxidermy moose head by the door and were on our way!

8 of us including the bartender are here. Of the 8 I know 2, myself and my friend. No this isn’t a riddle, I said all that crap to say this place is huuuuuuge… but empty. Saving grace. I AM the only female at present(here comes the duck face-kinda) I love Irish/English style pubs, spent quite a lot of time in ‘em so tonight I feel at home. I’m aching to try a fish and chips but I’m not hungry *sighs*(9 mins later I had the fish and waffle fries, it was okay) Their daily specials: Monday-fresh salmon burger Tuesday-baja fish tacos Wednesday-empanadas Thursday-brooklynator w/waffle fries Friday-fish and chips!!! Saturday-shepherd’s pie And Sunday brunch 11am-3pm There’s an upstairs lounge available for parties. About 8⁄10 large screen tellys including one projector type adorn the walls, at the entrance is a giant(to me) moose head. The bartender was adequately friendly and I had a nice relaxed chill-off-the-stress-of-the-day evening. I’ll be back because December 20th is their karaōke competition! Hope I’m off work so I can win some prizes which I imagine would be free drinks. The End.
