I still think this place is crap and I mean crap, the portions get smaller an smaller and still taste like not a roast meat sandwich:(8 thumbs down. I do not get it?

The few things I’ve had(vegetarian) where good and pretty high quality. What annoys me about this place is their ever changing«rules.» I feel like every time I have been there has been some new policy mandate that means you either can’t get what you used to be able to get or there is some new hoop to jump through. Inevitably whoever is telling you this new rule is a real jerk about it. Hipster service belongs in hipster brooklyn, not stroller brooklyn.

I discovered Mile End while watching the #FoodNetwork. I was super excited to see an eatery that was within traveling distance. I have been here 3 times… Each time was more disheartening than the last so I gave up altogether. Although the food is extremely delicious, the service is quite horrible. The first time I walked in, I was never greeted or acknowledged. It is my stomach that battled my brain to continue with my order. The 2nd time I called for a pick up order and upon arriving, I waited 5 minutes for an employee to SPEAKTOME. My final visit was a few months ago. I walked into Mile End and was told that I could not order and wait for my food because it was too crowded inside and that there were no tables. .Basically, we aren’t serving you. I don’t know if it’s the days of the week that I go… but what I do know is that I ENJOYGREATFOOD! Mile End is a SUPERDISAPPOINTMENT to Brooklyn in it’s treatment of pre-gentrification residents… I have 2 degrees… I don’t know much… but I know enough NOT to patronize an establishment that doesn’t respect me as a person for WHATEVER reasons !!! I gave Mile End«1» star because I wanted to write a review on Unilocal… Good Day!

Tried some new items today with mom and steph. Their first time here my second. Last time had the lamb merguez sausage which was flavor packed and delicious. This time we split the potato latkes with sour cream and smoked salmon, Reuben sandwich, and half sour pickle. The latke dish was fulfilling and the smoked salmon was a nice touch. The Reuben with kraut and Russian dressing had a good taste to it though some of the meat was a little too fatty for my mom. The matza ball soup was good according to steph but the broth was a little too salty. The service was great and we were lucky to get seated quickly. I think the lines can build up since there are only four tables for four, one table for two and five seats at the counter. All in all it was a nice meal with my girls.

I ordered the smoked meat sandwich. What they gave me was very fatty(some people like it that way, I know, I just can’t). The server quickly replaced it with a very lean cut which was much better, but a little on the dry side. I would probably go back, but the prices seem high for what you get.

I’ll be honest … the only thing I’ve eaten here is the smoked meat poutine. It’s so good I don’t even want to order something else. The meat is top notch and smoked and cured perfectly. Put it on top of some killer poutine loaded with cheese curds and you’ve got a meal. The last time I was in, I also bought a quart of pickles to bring home with me. Seriously, some of the best deli pickles I’ve ever had. I can’t stop eating them.

Mile End is located in the Boreum Hill section of Brooklyn. I had some time to kill in the area, so I ventured over the Brooklyn Bridge to meet up with some friends and to catch up on small talk over lunch. We decided to meet up at the Mile End Delicatessen, located at 97A Hoyt Street(between Atlantic Avenue & Pacific Street) in Brooklyn. I had the smoked beef brisket sandwich on sliced rye bread with mustard. The brisket sandwich was enough for one person, but not enough for two. It was so delicious and moist; I ate the whole thing while savoring every bite. The beef brisket meat was flaky and tender, it fell apart easily, along with the coleslaw that was a bright and well seasoned(light and bitter with vinegar) and came with a crispy pickle. My friends tried the poutine(french fries topped with gravy and cheese curds) which was a delicious stomach grenade and the wild king smoked salmon platter on a Montréal bagel Apparently, Mile End import their bagels into Brooklyn. I found the Montréal bagel to be much sweeter and smaller in size than a Brooklyn Bagel. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Mile End. Bring a group of friends so that you get the chance to sample many of their fine smoked meats and platters. I can highly recommend the Smoked brisket with potatoes, onion and egg platter. Space is limited at Mile End(four tables & five stools) and they generally run out of smoked meats early, so get there early or be prepared to wait.

Food tastes great & the music was on point, Definitely had the BROOKLYN vibe. Downside… The portions don’t fit the price & There’s a serious mark up on canned sodas. If you’re really hungry, you will leave hungry or will be paying through the nose for a second portion.

The Black Seed Sesame Bagel with a schmear(ben’s cream cheese, tomato, onion, capers) is ridiculously good. I’ve never had a better bagel sandwich in my life! And it only costs $ 4.50 for the experience. Yum. If you want to add smoked salmon(«beauty» on the menu), that’ll be $ 13.50. The bagel and poutine are for me, their claim to fame.

Never had poutine before, and if what was sent by Mile End is supposed to be the real thing, I will not order it again. The matzo ball soup was tasteless but with an added chicken boullion cube it became edible.

LOVEMILEEND! Their pastrami is exquisite! The $ 19 Tuesday night burger special is amazing! The place is tiny, but I’ve never had a problem getting a spot. So happy with this Canadian Deli!

Expensive, but the food was Great. I suggest you go on a Tuesday evening. They have a deal where you can get a burger, fries, and a drink for 19 dollars. I think maybe they should lower it to 15 but that’s just me. The food was better than expected though and I felt full after which is always a good feeling. I loved the atmosphere and the music selection.

My favorite Jewish deli. Period. Nothing is bad. The smoked meat, done in the Montréal style, is absolutely amazing. The staff is always very friendly and the food comes out hot and quick. This gem is quickly becoming an icon. A must visit for everyone in the NYC area.

Came here for breakfast and ordered the Smoked Meat Hash and the duck sandwich(forgot the name of it but it had maple syrup.). The hash was rather bland, could use a bunch of salt & hot sauce. The duck sandwich was wayy too sweet. The bread was drenched in syrup, making the bread quite soggy and too sticky/sweet with the duck. The duck was very fatty, but overall good flavor that I wish was also translated to the hash.

Ambiance/décor-5 Service-5 Food-5 Strikeouts-0/3 Arrived around 6:30. Good service, good food, and a good night. Two people seated in the front of the cooks. These guys honestly look like average joes, but they were very open to conversation and advice. Very modest too, and their prep methods actually differ slightly. The waitress was patient and efficient, though we didn’t give her much trouble ordering. The menu was small and it was easy to order a variety. We had chopped liver, small classic poutine, smoked meat sandwich, and beats with smoked whitefish. The chopped liver and poutine was served very quickly. Poutine was average. The fries were average, gravy was average(tho very warm), but the cheese curds were awesome. Big chunky and very close to melting point, making the poutine truly a poutine. I’ve never had chopped liver, but this was a pleasant experience. The bread and pickled veggies accompaniment was perfect. The buttered bread and liver were very similar to eating tuna on a cracker, but more refined as it should be. Beats and smoked fish was very unique, definitely have to try it, and I hate most veggies! Lastly the smoked meat sandwich. Glorious, glorious smoked meat. It can give Schwartz a run for their money. This is where the chef prepared ours with the fat, which I love, but depending on the chef, they cut it off due to controversy on fat. Definitely worth requesting if you’re the same as me!

Okay this place is definitely a four star Unilocal review place. The reason why Im giving it a five star review is because the overall rating is 3.5… and thats just not accurate. Yeah it may be a bit pricey but welcome to new york everyone. Get over the fact that things are more expensive here. If you go out to eat something, you’re expected to pay at least 15 dollars. and this place gives you a TON of food. Its not like those stupid ny tapas places where they give you three carrots and charge you 8 dollars. Their food: really good. They do fun spins on poutine and they put a lot of heart into their food. Ive never been to montreal but my montreal friends are always impressed. Their interior: small but cute. The lighting is warm and cozy. Definitely a good place to order some poutine and drink beer.

This is a very tiny deli, 4 family styled benches that can seat six per table comfortably. This is a great little neighborhood restaurant but plenty of street parking in case you wanted to drive. You just have to be lucky and wait for someone else to pull out. The service is attentive and friendly as well as providing suggestions when you are stuck. They have specials so always ask so you know you have options. We had Sunday brunch which was a lot of food for the seven of us. We sat together as a family, a bit tight and even more so after finishing our meal. The poutine was very good, fries was crispy, cheese curds didn’t have much flavor. The challah french toast as a brunch item was very good. Nicely crusted from the grill outside and soft in the center served with grilled bananas. I was a little disappointed with the Montréal smoked beef(brisket) as it was a little lean and dry. The server suggested that in future visits I order the fatty cut but not sure if my doctor will agree. Just like any good deli, they offer Dr. Brown’s sodas which of course is top shelf stuff in the world of sodas. Overall service was very good, food was good with the exception of the dry smoked beef but I will visit back to try the fatty cut of the brisket but won’t tell my doctor.

I order delivery a lot. I don’t leave a lot of reviews. So listen the f*ck up. That smoked meat sandwich. It’s bananas. Anything with smoked meat in it really. And the pickles. Order 2. It’s worth it. Don’t get all hung up on the pickle plate. Go for the real thing. Trust me. Yes, you have to be patient for your meal. Yes, it’s not a $ 5 «deli» sandwich from your 24⁄7 spot, you cheap sh*t. If you want to eat some real boss player status brooklyn food, man up and do it. I’m an Italian Jew and this place can whip up a motherf*cking sandwich. And if you have the means, go. They have an awesome craft beer selection. No I am not getting free food for leaving a positive review. You’re welcome.

Well, it’s been five years. And I’ve eaten a lot of smoked meat. Some* might say too much. And while I still like Mile End, the honeymoon phase is long over.** This little deli has made a well-deserved name for itself. Unfortunately, with the fame, prices have crept up to the point that the value proposition seems off. The $ 9 smoked meat sandwich is a thing of the past, and the $ 15 smoked meat sandwich has taken its place. I really preferred the former, personally. Generally speaking, the quality is usually still high, but there have been days when the smoked meat is dry and sad. And when you pay that much for a sandwich(pre-tax/tip), that is a serious disappointment. Worst of all, my absolute favorite item that Mile End ever made, The Breakfast Burger, has disappeared… seemingly never to return. I am pleased that there’s a place to grab some poutine so close to my apartment, but barring the occasional(OK, frequent) drunken cravings, it’s hard to justify at this price point. This has been a long time coming, but I’m downgrading myself from a regular into a sporadic visitor. I’m sure they won’t notice, but I’m pretty bummed about it. _____________ *My wife, my friends, my cardiologist. **We almost never have sex any more.

The place is extremely small but it’s got good enough food. We sat by the window at a tiny table since it’s got a bench set up and we didn’t want to eat with someone else hogging their own bench. I ended up switching seats because one side was right by the heater and one side was chilly because of the broken window. Okay now for the food.: the large poutine was so good! And great for sharing! I had the broussel sprouts and I wasn’t the biggest fan. Something in the dish was so spicy but it a weird peppery taste and along with the raw green onions, it was too spicy and raw for me. I did like the way the sprouts were cooked and I loved the fried egg What made the restaurant good was the service and what my fiancé ordered: the chicken Reuben. It was cooked with perfection and so good! Loved the sauerkraut If I do go back; I will most likely get takeout since the restaurant is pretty small and they are so busy all the time. I will go back for the poutine if I am in the area

Forgot to write a review yesterday after I stopped by for lunch. But after eating the half of my leftover sandwich just a couple minutes ago… I’m desperate to write the review right now. I got an order of the reuben and upgraded that to a deluxe with the poutine. To be honest, I never heard of a poutine before, and when the nice waitress asked me what I wanted for my side, I just said yes, I’ll take the poutine, without asking her what that actually was. Turns out it’s chunks of cheese and gravy over fries. I personally thought it was okay, I’m more of a leave-my-fries-plain type. For $ 10, it’s a bit pricey for the portion and too much for one person eat. The corned beef… warm, moist, flavorful, so perfect with the sauerkraut, thousand island, in between 2 slices of pumpernickle. The sandwich was huge and I ended up taking half home, which I ate just now. The sandwich did not even sog up after being heated in the microwave. Did I mention anything about their slaw? It’s pink! The color really caught my eye, I’ve been really into fuschia this past year. This slaw isn’t like your everyday coleslaw made with mayo based dressing. It’s crunchy, tangy, and vinegary, everything I love about coleslaw. I also think it has caraway seeds in there, if not mistaken. Small, very intimate place with a couple of picnic style tables and like 5 seats along the open kitchen where the yummy sandwiches are made. It’s one of those places similar to a dim sum restaurant, don’t have a table? No problem! Let’s learn how to share and meet a couple of new friends. I did not make any friends yesterday HAHA.
