The owner was a bigger disgrace than the manager. I came here for brunch on a Sunday and ordered the Greek omelet which supposedly had feta. Once it arrived, I forked through it and noticed it only had the veggies, so I confronted the manager about it who unapologetically tried to justify it by saying, «they put a little bit of cheese» and stood there arguing with me about whether or not this omelet was acceptable. I was shocked to the point where I didn’t even want them to redo it. I just wanted it off my bill so that I could leave this ridiculous establishment. Upon receiving the bill, I notice he charged me for half the omelet, which was the cherry on top. His explanation: «I ate half.» This manager is definitely in lala land because no normal manager would come to such a conclusion and outright lie to your face. At that point, I sought out the owner who argued with me for 10 mins and didn’t want to believe me that I had to argue with the manager for so long just to get reimbursed for something I didn’t eat. Absolutely disgusting service. But what can you expect from the staff if the owner is so cheap, unaccommodating, and rude? Never returning.

No clue how this works an American diner run by a Russian owners, food is great, portions are huge, especially thief dinner menus that comes with almost everything on the menu 2nd time I order a 10OZ fillet steak, it comes with a soup, salad, potato(you pick what type), vegetable, two huge pieces of chicken(you can get buffalo wings) and desert. All for $ 20 Place is clean, nice and staff is friendly Highly recommended.

Ever since the diner on Emmons Ave, El Greco, closed down, I am upset. Their location, view and cheesecakes were good but now only in memories. So we were looking for an alternate diner so here we are at Mirage. We ordered a portion of buffalo wings, 3 beers, 3DLX burgers. Our server was a nice lady, I would give 4 – 5 stars to service from the beginning to the end but the food lessens the overall rating. Wings were on the table within 3 – 4 minutes after ordering, they seemed like soaked in a barbecue sauce or ketchup rather than buffalo, my brother tried one and he mentioned them as being one of the worst wings he has ever tried so i did not even bother. You can skip the wings. We had better expectations of burgers. The size and french fries on the side looked okay and tasted okay. 2 stars to burgers. Beers are cold enough, parking lot is a plus, servers are working hard. I was so full to try desserts so I will go back again for fries, beers and desserts but not for burgers or wings.

All I can say is horrible horrible horrible we went there twice me and my wife so here it goes. 1st time it was a Thursday the tall manager wouldn’t let us sit where we wanted forced us to sit somewhere else ok fine. We sit Down the waiter middle eastern dark mustache looks like a time ticking bomb he looked very nervous as he took our order and kind of scary spooked us a bit the Cole slaw had a odor, the steak were cooked wrong once again waiter gives us a horrible attitude we pay for it anyways and left. Another time we went early Wednesday morning to get breakfast this time a young waiter with a European accent took our odor kept giving us smirks and felt like he was mocking us. Food was good then again how can you screw up eggs and home fries with toast. Final say food is well you just go to get lucky .The service of the waiters not to good the busboys were pretty nice a Indian one, and a young white one. The managers horrible don’t know what there doing they look at you like your talking a whole different language. Adiós Mirage never goinsee you again

Ordered delivery from here — the delivery person is great, sweet guy. The cooks, can’t seem to get their marbles in order. Second time I’ve ordered from Mirage — same exact order and they always miss items I’ve paid for in advance. The first time — cheese, I let it go. The second time — avocado, lettuce, onions, fries, and cheese. Very disappointing. Called to replace the order, the host said it’ll take 30mins… an hour and a half later, still waiting. Terrible experience. Do yourself a favor and never order delivery from this place. Seems delivery is too complicated to master even though the grubhub order has a list of everything you’ve asked for, clear as day.

The best diner in Brooklyn! Great food, good service, and fair pricing. One of the only restaurants with a parking space. Very Important.

If you want to see a reenactment of a scene form My Big Fat Greek Wedding, come here for brunch on Sunday. I came a bunch of times, but Sunday was the worst. That day the food was exceptionally greasy(cold soggy fries). There was a private after-church party right in front of us where they had their own servers. But what really made me lose my appetite, was a baby’s diaper being changed in the booth in front of mine. Ever since then, I can’t eat there.

3 stars no more, no less!!! This place looks like a typical grease pit diner. The wait staff are awesome! Got a burger & fries. Food was good! The issue was the women’s bathroom. N A S T Y. Unclean. Gross. I will stick to oasis on flatbush.

This place has the most disgusting service; we ordered food at 230 am Saturday night and the server told us they r about to close the dinner. We ordered an omelette and mozzarella sticks. It took 45 mins for food to arrive and the potatoes were cold! The attitude we got from the manager was unbelievable. This place has to change people who work there. It’s bad for the business.

The food is great, the service is amazing. However, the owner wanted to charge me $ 1.45 for hot water in a coffee cup? I have worked in restaurants my whole life and just told my boss, he laughed at me. I asked the owner why and his explanation was«the coffee cup that your using needs to be washed afterward, if one of the busboys break it, I have to pay for it». I couldn’t believe my ears. I also received a cappuccino and it was«foam» on the top with no layers. Cappuccino should have three layers, steam milk on the bottom, espresso in the middle and foam on top. It did not look like this and it was watery. I told the owner and he refused to take it off, I didn’t even drink it — which he saw, I just ate the whip cream on top. He ended up taking just the water off, ha. Bottom line, if an owner can not make the customer happy, then why go back. I will make sure I and everyone else who asks for a good town diner, does not go there. Thank you owner of Mirage for not wanting me to come back here. You know what your doing.

At the time of this review I am the Duke. So my 2 star should speak volumes. The food is average at best and terrible sometimes. But for my purposes it is suitable. I mean how hard is it to make eggs. The service is what pisses me off. The host is inept. If there is any crowd at all he looses all base with reality. One person get told 10 mins another gets told no wait. The next person to talk in may be told it’s 1985? Who knows with this guy. If he manages to catch on to you being irritated with the wait he will tell you to wait more. Miserable waitstaff only helps the ambience. I’ve suffered my last bad service experience. Adiós Mirage

As far as diners go, this one is OK. I have never been super impressed with the food, I enjoy the dessert much more. However, the staff are very friendly, attentive, and accommodating.

I had #breakfast at dinner because of home made meals and huge meal selection. I order egg benedicts with bacon, coffee. I enjoy the whole meal. I love their service. They have great oatmeal, too. MY mom was thrilled with her cappuccino. Has FREE parking lot. FREE hot drinks refills. They also have a party room. Amazing service. FASTSERVICE.

I came here around 10am on a weekday, it had quite a few diners in there. The diner itself is nice but a little outdated. We sat at a booth and our waiter came over to us and brought us some coffees and water. We both ordered our meals a few minutes later. The food came out quick and tasted good, but nothing spectacular. The prices were kind of expensive and our server could of been friendlier.

I wish I didn’t have to write this review about Mirage diner since the place is literally 3 blocks from my house and the only diner which is walking distance. Last night was the absolute last time I am ever going here, EVER! There were many signs leading up to the epic ending. When first entering the diner my wife, 5 month baby, and I came in through the handicap entrance because of the stroller. Essentially you are entering the establishment from the back entrance. I told my wife to wait as I walked to the front to get seated. I explained to the maitre’d that we had a stroller. He looked at me like I have 3 heads. «Oh, oh sorry sir we usually don’t have people come here with strollers. I’m not sure where to place you.» I had to explain to him where we can sit and how to slightly adjust the table. STRIKE1. After settling in my wife and I are looking through the menu. We over heard the table behind us complaining about their Penne Ala Vodka dish. «This dish is disgusting. The plate is cold and inedible.» STRIKE2 I decided to order the chicken, cheddar, and mushroom panini with curly fries. Found some hair in my sandwich as I swift through it. NASTY! As we finish our meal and start walking home, I start feeling very nauseous and light headed. By the time I get home I begin puking violently. Mirage Diner’s food had created FOODPOISONING! I puked 5 times through out the night and they had ruined my weekend. I would sue the place if I can clearly show evidence that they created this event. Please do not go to MIRAGEDINER as this place is the worst food establishment in Midwood/Kings Highway.

I ordered a Breakfast platter for delivery which was really good. The complaint is more about the delivery guy than the Restaurant itself. I left specific instructions to ring my bell gently but of course it was the opposite. When the delivery guy came up I asked him if he’d NOT read the instructions and he’d stated«He didn’t pay any attention to that». My tip for him is to READ the instructions before delivering next time. Newborn baby’s are sleeping and an obnoxious buzzer definitely interrupts their dreams…

A Brooklyn Institution in a lot of ways. I’m a happy regular. Usually i get a spinach & feta cheese omelette or a salmon or red snapper dinner. You can’t go really go wrong… One key is, to know or befriend your waitstaff, tell em what you’re inthe mood for, and ask em what’s a great choice that day… If you are a newcomer it never hurts to start out friendly. Of course, so should the waitperson. The Mirage has a great cast of characters… Reading a couple of reviews, I’m a little surprised… And I’m here to tell ya, that while no place, and no one is perfect, the management and the staff at The Mirage want you to enjoy your meal and the atmosphere. Billy, his partner, and their maitre’d s, are lifelong restauranteurs, and there’s lots of reasons there are hundreds, excuse me, probably over a thousand or maybe thousands of regular diners at the Mirage. Many people go back 30 even close to 40 years with Billy, even to the old Caraville Diner… The Mirage does provide hospitality… Brooklyn style, but still hospitality :-) Today we had a gathering of 15 or 16 old friends for brunch. Rochelle was our waitress. She was great. Spoke clearly, forthright, almost like a professional speaker, and was nice. Not one order got screwed up, she knew who got what, & she got every special request correct. The busboy began a little slow at refilling the coffee, so i tawked to him, schmeared him with a few bucks, told him i needed to see him refill our cawfee at least every ten minutes or he’d have to pay me back double that. The kid smiled, and showed up every 5 minutes with fresh coffee. And that’s fair. Everyone there does work hard– no two ways about. I don’t know every waiter or waitress by name, but, Manny, Big John, Joanne, Rochelle, Jose, they’re great. All polite and thorough, don’t know what to do for you. And they’ll kibbitz with you. In a vanishing Brooklyn, The Mirage is an oasis.

For a diner, I didn’t expect that much. The menu had a good selection of cheeses and veggies for the omelettes. Got feta and spinach. It was flavorful but a tad dry. The potatoes were pretty good although they use some weird brand of ketchup that kind of made them not so good. Toast was wonder bread. Service was slow but thorough. Prices were decent. Bathroom kind of nasty. Probably would not return.

This is a great location if you are expecting a simple, 1−2−3 kinda place. Their menu is so hard to navigate and they seem like the kinda place that you really only enjoy if you are a regular or are from the neighborhood. Otherwise you kinda get shit treatment and I understand we are in Brooklyn where Assholes come a dime a dozen but that doesn’t mean you have to be rude to everyone. It also isn’t a regular kind of rude… it’s that kinda rude you get when you know the staff deals with hundreds of people weekly so they begin to cut corners on being polite. The hostess was also on her phone a lot which I understand but maybe not when we are right in front of you trying to place an order. We waited at the bar table for almost 20 mins when a waiter finally asked if we needed help only to find out that we had to place the to go order with the host in the front… that would have been nice to know. They took our orders quick and fast but the quality of the food was basic diner food so just… ok. I can’t rate you guys any higher because your service seemed unorganized and full of a tired staff but I can’t rate you guys any lower because at the end of the day your food wasn’t the worst. It’s just sad to see a diner be just that… a regular old diner with nothing special. PS. Change up your cocktail list… no one believes you can make those drinks as well as they should be and how about instead you guys focus on what people really want which are better priced desserts and good service.
