Mister Saturday Night(which is also on Sunday Nights) is the dance party that used to be located at the Gowanus Grove. It’s now in the empty lot between buildings next to Costco in Brooklyn. It was a strange crowd, to say the least. At the beginning, there were tons of parents with kids(even a woman dancing with a baby bjorn). There were both large dogs and puppies. And also someone who decided to hula hoop on the dance floor(poorly). The music was okay, but not great. More chill than anything, thought towards the end, it was a lot livelier. The party also ended at 8pm on Sunday, which is a strange hour all around. The men’s bathroom line situation sucked. There were three bathrooms inside the warehouse, all with really long lines. First time I’ve seen the men’s lines take longer than the women’s.

This venue inspired my latest blog post, which you can read here:
This review is specifically for Mister Sunday — the daytime dance party held from 3pm — 9pm — but I did not have the option of checking in to Sunday, only Saturday, so for now — my review remains here. I’ll just stick to the points: — Great atmosphere and outdoor ambiance — DJ’s spin terrific music — The dance floor is packed with respectable, decent people all looking to dance and just have a good time — No smoking and no cell phones are allowed on the dance floor — The bar serves up Sangria, wine and beer — They sell tacos and pizza — The tree lights are pretty — The sky is your roof — Industrial lofts are your walls It’s a daytime, outdoor, huge dance party that happens every single Sunday. It’s a lot of fun and good times with good people. I can’t recommend Mr Sunday enough.

Beautiful new venue! Sunday funday at its best. Long lines, yes. But good drink prices, chill family– and dog-friendly atmosphere, and most importantly, good music! Food, air-conditioned indoor bathrooms, sunset, and a disco ball. What more can you ask for?* Word of advice, though: get here early or buy tickets in advance, or be prepared to wait(and potentially not get in — but this was the first Mister Sunday event so maybe it’ll get better?). *Well, one thing I could ask for is that they open all bathrooms from the start so drunk girls don’t have to wait an hour to pee. James Murphy may sing it but it doesn’t mean we enjoy it.
