Modern Nails

I went in to get a manicure but did not want nail polish to be applied. All the lady did was clip my nail and she barely filed them. She then applied cuticle oil and barely removed anything. She didn’t soak them in water or anything. I then received a VERY short hand massage when she was applying hand cream (not more than 5 sec on each hand) and that was it. It all took not more than 10 min from start to me walking out the door. It cost me $ 7. I then had to come home, file my nails and cut my cuticles. Definitely will not be returning.

Modern Nails is a local nail salon which treats people in a welcome manner and always takes good care of their customers well. I’ve been going to this nail salon for almost twenty years and have always been very satisfied with both the service and the commitment to its customers.
The owner Kathy is very pleasant and the ladies (and gentleman) who work for her always do their best to make you feel comfortable, happy, satisfied and at ease. The atmosphere is always clean, neat and calming. The hospitality is always there and it’s been many times that I’ve witnessed a «difficult» customer who wants a different nail color, etc. and they always oblige willingly.
Their manicures and pedicures are great and many women now come in for those gel manicures which are very popular. I always rave about their pedicures and massages! Lately, I started doing their Crystal Gel Spa Pedicure but their Modern Signature Spa Pedicure and regular pedicures are also wonderful. They also have a callous remover lotion which makes your feet feel smooth once again.
If you want a much deserved and much needed hour or two of pampering, at reasonable prices with friendly service, a clean atmosphere, a wide variety of nail colors and services, Modern Nails is the place for you. The women (and men) who come here love it and many of their kids now come to (they have a kids price list which is also reasonable). Treat yourself and enjoy!!!

Needed a place nearby for a quick manicure. After reading reviews I decided I might try them out. While I walked in, I was rudely given a once over by a Asian lady by the door. No greeting, no hello. They didn’t even ask what service I wanted. I went over all the pricing with this one lady in the back since it wasn’t displayed anywhere and decided I would go for the $ 20 manicure and pedicure (regular manicures are $ 6.50, pedicure $ 17).
Long story short, if you care about cleanliness (which I definitely do), do not come here. They keep all their tools in these things that look like pencil cases. It has a tray inside with liquid that I can only hope is a disinfectant. The tools don’t look clean at all and when they are finished scraping whatever on your toes/​fingers they just dump it back in the case. I also watched in horror as the lady cleaned my toes nail polish off, only to double dip back into the nail polish remover. Now it makes me think how many peoples nails were touched on that thing before mine, at least I don’t cut my cuticles. And after clipping my fingernails during the manicure, the nails were all over the table and the lady just wiped the table, throwing all of the clippings on the floor!
As for the nail polish job itself, I’ve definitely had better. The pedicure was decent. However the french manicure I received is one of the worst. It is streaky and the white is now smeared into the lighter color since she didn’t allow it to dry properly. Not to mention there are air bubbles.
I will never be returning and now regret not spending the extra cash on the salon next to the Kings Highway post office.

I have been going to Modern Nail for at least 15 years. Pedicures are top notch and I love the extensive selection of colors for the gel manicures. Everyone is very friendly and the place is very clean.

Was going to this place for two years and they seemed to be ok… not very friendly but they got the job done… until i was chased down by a technician for not paying my bill. What a joke!!! I have always paid by my debit card and gave a hearty tip… unfortunately it seemed as if the color of my skin was a determining factor. needless to say that was my last visit to THAT salon

It is a great salon, but the prices are a bit Manhattan for me. Very clean, friendly staff, but limited on the color selection. I got the vibe that if you’re not a regular, they treat you with a very «whatever» attitude, which is BS to me.
I don’t come here anymore because there was a good amount of younger, teenage to mid 20 year old girls (mostly Jewish) looking at me too intently for my liking throughout my whole manicure. STOP STARING!!! It was too obnoxious and made me feel very unsettled, as if wearing shorts here is a crime.
I’d rather go to Coyle — I can wear whatever I want there.

Great Nail Salon, my girlfriend goes there a lot and sometimes I come along. Kathy and the gang are great and they do an awesome job.
Small salon, but it’s a very relaxing atmosphere
