I was really disappointed with this place. my friend and I ordered at different registers I received my food very quickly. as for my friend the cashier was very rude she said they had to wait for the bacon because it’s not ready. which we don’t mind waiting. but then someone came up ordered the same exact thing as my friend and he received his bacon right away… and she had this smirk on her face. I’m over it. and the hot dogs seriously just go to Costco it’s cheaper and taste better.

This was a good hot dog! The service was nice and quick. They lightly toast the bun and the hot dog was cooked perfectly. I got grilled onions, delicious, and sour kraut, good. Also ordered a clam chowder because it was freezing outside and that was great. Went during the winter so it wasn’t very busy.

We came here on New Year’s Eve before watching the fireworks in Coney Island. It’s in a central location, right across from the Metro station. It was really crowded but we got through the line pretty quickly. We got the lobster roll, the seafood platter, and the chilli cheese dog. The lobster roll was so good with a lot of lobster meat on it! And all for just about $ 7! So much cheaper than all the rolls I get in Boston!!! The fried seafood platter was not that good though. It was already cold when we got it. We also sat outside in the cold, so it did not really help either. We can barely tasted the fried clams… It was so tiny. The fried shrimp and fried cod was good. The chilli cheese dog was good but quite expensive. But the other two dishes were reasonably priced or inexpensive. I would come back just for the lobster roll!

Classic! I thoroughly enjoy this place — the food is delish, you’re in and out quick… honestly this place is just extreme to me — either you like the type of food Nathan’s has to offer, or you don’t. But manage your expectations! This isn’t a sit down dining restaurant, it’s quick bites set up on the boardwalk. For those who do enjoy a Nathan’s hot dog, it’s a mandatory stop on Coney Island.

It all started in Coney Island. now their hot dogs are legendary. This review is about their landmark location and no other e.g. in malls. The hot dogs you get from Nathan’s physical locations are better than what you find in the supermarkets. Not only are the hot dogs what they are known for but also their french fries. I’m not a fan of fat meaty almost home fries, I prefer crispy ones which is not their style. They also have chicken, phillie steak sandwiches, burgers and frog legs. But what the heck are you going to Nathan’s for if not for the dogs? Need to ask for onions and sauerkraut as it’s behind the counter. Mustard, ketchup, relish and napkins are on counter. The prices, especially for hot dogs, is crazy high. I suggest you look for coupons either online or in weekly fliers. I’m not one to pay almost $ 4 for a single hot dog, not even at ball games nor around city parks. Parking is street parking only. During the busy in-season good luck finding parking although there are side streets designed just for parking but if you have lots of drivers going to the beach they are there for most of the day. So evenings are sometimes better on parking. Also there is better availability if you park further down by the stadium or inland(that neighborhood is a bit dicey). Better off taking the subway in which there are so many lines that stop there including: D, F, N, and Q. Plus some buses. The Coney Island/Stillwell Avenue station is diagonally right across street from Nathans. The NY Aquarium is the subway stop before on F and Q trains at West 8th Street and has its own ramp from station to Aquairum. the walk to Nathans is about five blocks. either on the boardwalk or along sidewalk past Cyclone and Astroland. So you can begin at Nathan’s or end up there. There is also a small Nathans satellite stand on the Boardwalk closer to Astroland. Don’t even think about going there in the heat of the tourist season. There are only about three to five service lines with a headcount of at least 20 deep to wait. That is not to say the landmark location has less people but at least they have at least 20 service lines during peak season so its a wee bit faster with between four to ten heads deep on each line. They have a bathroom, its cleaned but still gross and smelly. There is NO seating inside Nathans although it has a few round metal picnic tables outdoors to the right side where they used to have the July 4th Hot Dog eating contest. Grab a table with an umbrella because the sun can be brutal there. Although the tables are bused by staff they can’t keep up with the filthy animals who leave their remains on the tables along with their signature ketchup or mustard monikers. The boardwalk and beach are just down the block. I gave this three stars because the food(other than hot dogs) is average or substandard, and as good as the hot dogs are I’ve had better. But when in Coney Island one of the eats you must have is hog dogs at Nathan’s just to say you did it! It’s a ghost town down there in the colder months but Nathans is open year round. Except prepare to stand and eat as there is no seating inside and outside will be bitterly cold or closed. They also close down half the service stations in the slower months. There is an interesting artisan outdoor food court right behind Nathans for better more expensive eats(such as lobster rolls, etc.) and drinks. See photo. Bön Appetite!

I’ve been wanting to come here ever since I saw it on the travel channel. The hot dogs looked delicious and the chili and cheese looked perfect. I came here and the store looked exactly like it does on tv. There was like 2 people In Front so not a long wait. I got my hot dog and it was beautiful but I swear it looked more delectably delicious on tv. It tasted great but man it was expensive.

We lined up for one hour on the board walk. Ate it. Meh. And then we turned around, walked through the kid’s section, and here you go, a nathan’s famous booth with absolutely no one waiting in front of it. Then I know I will never get into these tourist trap again.

Been coming here forever. Great hotdogs and great fries. I haven’t branched out even though Nathan’s has so I couldn’t tell you about the other food they offer now, but I wouldn’t be against trying since they’ve been consistently good for so long. Lines can seem long, but the service is very fast and will not disappoint.

Severely overhyped! Unlike some of the idiots that got seafood at a hot dog joint and then are complaining about the quality, we got their hot dogs(with bacon and cheese) and a corn dog. The hot dogs were pretty good but also pretty small and nothing to really write home about. The corn dog was overcooked. Given that the lines are way too long(I saw some people get into the wrong line and wait 2x the already long wait when they had to change lines.) and the price is still pretty steep, not worth the wait for some average as hell hot dogs.

Nathan’s was one of my favorite meals while visiting NY. I’ve always wanted to try the«real thing» I usually buy Nathan’s hotdogs at the grocery store. We had a hard time deciding what to order. Everything sounded so good! My honey and I always try to get a variety of food so we can sample everything. We decided on the chili cheese dog and a Philly cheesesteak and of course we had to get cheese fries. After devouring everything in about 5 minutes we decided to walk along the boardwalk. There is another Nathan’s location on the boardwalk facing the water. I decided the hot dogs at Nathan’s were so good I had to have another. This time I got a dog w sauerkraut and grilled onions with mustard. So good! I couldn’t decide which one I liked better.

We had to do the stereotypical tourist thing and go to Nathan’s. I liked that there were tons of registers. Which means you didn’t have to wait long to order. We got the cheese fries and chili cheese dogs. I love a good hotdog. And these did not disappoint. I was afraid they wouldn’t have enough seating, but we easily found a table in the shade. We also liked that they had a large restroom that was kept clean. A hard thing to sometimes find in New York.

The signs are big, and the claims grand. However, when it comes down to it, you get your standard hot dog and fries. I even tried their clam strips. Prices are cheap, but not that cheap. Food was delivered fast. The chili dog was not very large(skinny) with some mediocre chili on top. However, the hot dog did have a nice crunch when you bite into it. The chili cheese fries were actually my favorite part. Really hot! Clam strips were a disappointment. Tiny little fried strips — no way you can taste the clams. Note: The medium sodas are huge already. This is the store you see when you get off the subway, but there is actually one right on the boardwalk.

What. a. spectacle. I came here for the 4th of July(‘MURICA) hot dog eating festivities and had an amazing time. We scarfed down Nathan’s Famous hot dogs before the competition started because 1. The lines were shorter 2. I didn’t want to lose my appetite watching this ridiculous competition. Frankly, the chili dogs with grilled onions were good and the bacon cheese fries were slathered in heart clogging goodness. The contest itself was very entertaining. The emcee was kept the crowd engaged by being corny and over the top. The man could just get on the mic and spit it. better than ninety percent of you rappers out there. I would advocate getting here at least an hour before the official contest starts. This is definitely a recommended activity on Coney Island.

I decided to head down to Coney Island and check out Nathan’s in honor of National Hot Dog Day. I hopped in line, and the register was abandoned after about ten minutes of waiting without any notification. Ugh! I got in another line to wait and had another ten minutes of waiting before my order was taken. I ordered a small order of cheese fries and a beer. This place is mad inefficient! The person taking your order fills it as well making it take forever, especially if the people ahead of you have very large orders. It was seriously so annoying to watch the ineffectiveness. The cheese fries and beer really hit the spot, but I can’t say they were anything special. You definitely go here just to say you went to the original Nathan’s at Coney Island.

Ate here when in town for the Mermaid Parade. We only ate here as wanted to be traditional! First the server got our order wrong, but once we got our food it was pretty bland and underwhelming. We got a chilli hotdog, chilli cheese fries and chicken tenders. The chicken was actually the best thing we chose! I probably wouldn’t waste the calories returning here.

Institutions such as this shouldn’t even be review options. Nothing happens at Nathan’s that isn’t supposed to. The total experience is as its meant to be. Romanticize the memories enough and you’ll find yourself not only buying Nathan’s franks exclusively from your grocer back in(insert city/state), but also buying a noticeably greater sum of the hotdogs per annum. Nathan’s was certainly never a bucket list destination for me — BUT I can certainly now say I’ve been. So I’ve got that going for me. Which is nice.

Came here for Fathers day. It was my first time at Coney Island and it also happened to be the Mermaid parade day too(had no idea). It was INSANELY crowded. The line for Nathans was sooooooo long but being this is the original Nathans, we had to suck it up and wait on line. My family and I got some hotdogs, some plain, some with cheese, some with sautéed peppers and onions. All yummy. I dont know if is a pyshcological thing or what, but these hotdogs tasted better than any other Nathan dogs I’ve had in the past. We also got some cheese fries and a pepperoni pretzel. The pretezel… I cant even begin to explain how amazing it was. I’m not even a pretzel person, so that says a lot. It was so soft and fresh, yum yum yum. Happy I finally got to experience the original Nathans.

Definitely a huge hyped up food here because of the hot dog eating contest but I don’t blame them. They make the pictures look so good! But expectations and reality just didn’t match up :(I also thought Nathan’s hot dogs were thicker but they were pretty skinny but that could just be me. During the summertime, the like here canbe ridiculous! You just see a huge mob of people organized in what seem to be messy lines, waiting to order. The good thing about it though is they have a big enough kitchen to keep up with demand so you just have to wait a couple minutes after you order to get your food. We got the original hot dog with sautéed onions and bacon cheese fries. It wasn’t bad but again, super hyped up. Now that I’ve had it, I don’t see myself going out of my way to go back to Coney Island to get a hot dog. I had a fun time while I was there though!

After waiting years to come here, I finally got my hands on the original fresh off the grill hot dog! And the best part yet I got to eat it in The original store in Coney Island! It wasn’t the hot dog that was the key moment(even though it was delicious) but it was being in Coney Island that set it all apart. The experience of eating Nathan’s in front of the store and just relaxing is something special. The store itself is well kept: ten registers or more, wide selection on their menu, ketchup/mustard/relish pump stations, outdoor seating tables, friendly and quick customer service. All of these things made my experience that much better. Overall, I’m thankful to have make it here. I worked hard over the years to have an experience like this. I can now say I’ve finally ate Nathan’s at the original store on Coney!

I never thought I’d ever find myself contemplating an order of fried frog legs and a fish sandwich at the Original Nathan’s on Coney island. Yet that is exactly what I did this past Memorial Day weekend. Well, I skipped the frog legs for another adventurous day but definitely had a hot dog, an orangeade and split the grand fish sandwich with my company for the day. By the way a Medium orangeade was big enough for two people and then some. No need for a large unless you regularly supersize all of your drinks. The hot dogs are everything that you expect and remember: juicy, firm skins on all beef hot dog that makes you chow down with abandon… yummy. Sorry if I get carried away here, but I enjoy hot dogs– judge me if you will. The fish sandwich was quite a handful. The potato bun was toasted on the grill, slathered in tartar and Russian dressing with lettuce, tomato and a crispy fish fillet that was way longer than the bun. Surprisingly, quite good. Give that a try, as it is worth every penny of $ 4.99. They have these seafood platters and combos that seemed to be way too much for me. However, if you are ravenous after the beach or the rides in Luna Park it may work for you. We were just there to eat before the mayhem and fun began(read: cotton candy face stuffing, running and sunning on the beach and piña coladas with free endless refills). Be sure to take a break from the sun eating in the rear sitting area that leads you right into the independent vendors of the smörgåsbord(which doesn’t have a sign but that is what it is). Worth checking out and I recommend for the informal, memory maker that it is.

Rien a dire cependant.
