Nicko’s Unisex Salon

Nicko has cut my hair for years, since he was at other shops along Vanderbilt, before opening up his own salon. I’d seen many other barbers in Manhattan, in Prospect Hts and Clinton Hill. The neighborhood shops were mediocre, but Niko is supreme. He’s the best barber I’ve had in 25 years.
His work is precise and his technique is gentle. Don’t expect to be scratched or manhandled by rough tools, touch, or testosterone-​poisoned bragging about sports and sex. The friends I’ve recommended seek his cuts faithfully return.
Because Niko is popular, expect a wait to see him. Strategize arrival times so you don’t get stuck behind 14 year olds who only tip $ 1 and don’t appreciate the good service everyone will receive.
