The usual brunch place, a tiny French café on the quiet side of Park Slope. The food is decent, we ordered the Eggs Bennies with ham and salmon, their hollandised sauce is not super thick, kind of watered-down but still not bad. But nothing special. The house potato wedges though were very crispy and flavorful. The plate décor was so plain, I wish it looked prettier. The latte we ordered tasted alright, also nothing special, the flower pattern came out so ugly we just laughed. Overall it’s just ok.

Cute little restaurant, went for brunch on Saturday around 1pm, the place was empty but starting to fill up. My bf ordered la tartine d’olivier but was not satisfied with the brisket bec it was very fatty, the server offered to get him something else. He ordered the steak and frites and he loved it. I got the eggs norvegiene, i def liked my dish. All in all great experience.

Came here on a whim one early Sunday morning and no regrets. The service was welcoming and the owner, I’m assuming was very personable which is always a plus. The food had flava lol. Not flavor but flava that’s how you know it’s good. All the best to them

Started with a French onion soup. It was okay, it was like lukewarm, under seasoned, onion&cheese water. It wasn’t something I enjoyed. The cheese just sat on top barely melted, which was disappointing because I like the cheese to be melted throughout my French onion soup. As the main course I ordered the filet mignon medium rare. It wasn’t cooked evenly throughout but it was still good. I needed to add quite a bit of salt for it to taste more flavorful but overall this was definitely better than the French onion soup. However, the steak was the size of my fist, and I’m a 5’4, 00 pants wearing, petit 20 year old woman… In other words, the steak was extremely minuscule. Anyway if you come here, don’t get the French onion soup, it’s seriously subpar. Haven’t had desert yet but we’ll see how that goes. I gave three stars cause the food isn’t bad, in fact, it’s pretty good – just nothing to rave about. Crème brûlée was pretty awesome though, reminds me of the one my grandfather use to make me when I was a kid.

Moved into the area in 2013 and was hoping something would move into this vacant spot. When Olivier’s opened I was pleasantly surprised! Consistently good. Brunch is my favorite. French toast with fresh fruit and bourbon maple syrup is the best! Everything I’ve had there is great! Kale salad, steak frites etc for dinner. Owner and waitstaff are very friendly. They only take cash and AmEx but they have an ATM… The coffee could be served in a larger glass… it’s become my regular hang out!

When I go to Brooklyn, I always go to Olivier’s. He has incredible French Toast… real syrup with bananas and a French crème on the top. The Eggs Benedict are also one of my favorites. I have been there for lunch and dinner and the food has always been excellent. The place is small and intimate with a European feel. A very relaxed and slow pace. I think the prices are reasonable.

A group of us came here at noon on Black Friday. The waitress was friendly but the service was slow. I ordered from the lunch prix fixe menu which included an appetizer and a lunch entrée. I had the French onion soup and the steak frites. The steak was BLAND. I had to salt my steak and it really bothered me how the chef missed on the basics. The French onion soup was okay. Overall, the best item I had that day was the side of fries with my steak.

Just wanted to say, I came back here for coffee and it was some of the best coffee I have ever had! I am including coffee I have drank in Rome, France, US well known coffee houses, etc. The flavor of the beans was perfect, just perfect. It was a beautifully made latte. I know me new go to coffee spot!

Atmosphere is very cozy and romantic. Very good place to bring a date but not much good for babies and toddlers. Food is delicious. Every dish except for the hanger steak is flavorful. We tried the duck liver, mussels, hanger steak, ribeye by the ounce. The hostess is very nice and definitely someone who can give a wine recommendation. The hanger steak tasted a little dry and each plate only had about 5 – 6 slices. I felt that the portion is very low for the price. Service is excellent. Greeted after walking in and out table was ready. Reservation gives 10% off wine bottle. Definitely bring AMEX as they only take it specifically.

After much debating of «where, what kind, etc» we settled on Olivier Bistro. Must say — excellent choice for the evening! I’d even give it 4.5 stars if that was an option. Really — very minor details would need correction for a perfect 5. We were a party of four tonight and while the place is quite small, it has a homie sort of feel to it and quite accommodating(we had a stroller with us). The menu isn’t extensive but has enough variety to choose from. They even offered specials for the evening. Our choices for tonight were: Salmon tartar and burrata for appetizers(to share). Salmon was very simple but tasty, though I think it would be just a tad bit better if it was cooler. Burrata was so yummy, a generous piece of fresh mozzarella with(I think) cured ham and. something else haha I don’t recall but very, very tasty. When ordering, we noted that we were sharing but I guess the dish consists of three pieces(blah, two of us shared) and an additional piece wasn’t an option(?). We also ordered French Onion Soup(very cheesy and oh so good) and Gazpacho(it was fine, not too notable but not bad). Oh and we had the Grilled Octopus — delicious! tender, not chewy, overall well prepared. For entrée we ordered(again to share) Moules Frites in white wine sauce and the Cote De Boeuf 30oz — OMG this was simply amazing!!! The meat was so tender, perfect temperature(ordered medium rare), not an ounce of extra fat(sometimes you get entirely too much of it). There were also a couple of glasses of house rose and beer(bottled — blah). Pretty much the only disappointing fact about our dinner that the chef seems to be a bit heavy handed with the salt — on everything(especially that amazing steak). While some parts of the steak were mouth-wateringly delicious(is that even a word), there were parts that were simply saturated with salt(so thirsty now!) … anyway, awesome conclusion for the weekend(if only a bit too pricy).

What happened to my beloved bistro? They ran out of the house red wine before 7PM on a Wednesday, however, quickly found me a replacement. When we asked for extra dressing and tomato for the super dry chickpea salad, we were told it would cost an additional $ 5… Or, get it right the first time. A thimble of dressing was brought to the table, but all that did was make the salad super oily and less edible. Coq au vin is supposed to be moist, I thought… Last time I had it, it fell off of the bone. Last night, it was served to me and I swear the chicken was Fresh Direct rotisserie leftovers that were five days old, hacked up and dragged through the room temperature sauce. They gave me a steak knife and I could not cut the chicken off the bone. It was so tough and dry, the one bite that I did take found itself spat into a napkin. When I cut into it, it was clear that the chicken had not been cooked in the broth and that the sauce had merely been drizzled on top since only the skin had color. Two glasses of wine and two lousy entrées for 50 bucks… Not likely to return. Very disappointed.

Amazing addition to the neighborhood. There are plenty of seats and plenty of customers on a Monday night which insure the food is fresh. They are. I was disappointed by the fact there’s no oyster deal on Monday however they have other special. We have a good date night with appetizer and entrée below $ 50. Price is very reasonable and staffs are friendly. Food wise, the mussels are a bit small which we failed to ask. My burger is delicious. They are kind enough to ask if we want mustard. Definitely coming back again and catch their special.

Came here with some girlfriends for brunch. I had the steak with eggs. I didn’t enjoy it because the steak was very bland. However, I tried my friends Egg Norveine and it was delicious! The staff is very friendly. I’ll come back again to try the rest of the menu.

Olivier Bistro was the choice for my birthday brunch. We headed in on a Sunday morning around 11am, and they were able to seat our party of six right away. It is a super cute restaurant that also has outdoor seating on the sidewalk out front. I’ve never been to Paris, but another reviewer remarked that it reminded them of a bistro in Paris, which made me really happy. I ordered the Eggs Norvegiene for my meal. They were very tasty, and it was just the right amount of food, so I didn’t feel like I needed an after brunch nap. My only complaint was that the eggs were supposed to be poached, but instead the yolks were hard. He got La Tartine D’Olivier and said it was absolutely amazing! Just a note, they are cash or Discover card only, so plan ahead. This was a very cute spot for brunch, and I would definitely recommend it.

3 ½ stars! A nice place for brunch. Not crowded and they actually take reservations This place reminds me so much of the cafes in Paris, with ample outdoor seating. The indoor seating is not too closed off that you still enjoy the outdoor. The lattes here are strong and creamy. Had to get a second cup. They don’t have a long list of brunch item. Many are served with poached egg, so if you are allergic to eggs, the menu will be very limited. I had the egg feuilette and hubby had the burger which was served on an English muffin. The burger was cooked to perfection with the right amount of seasoning. There was an option to have bacon which he passed. My dish was made of tomato marmalade, anchovies, tomatoes, olives, poached egg over puffed pastry. First bite was wonderful, but then became too salty for my taste. I think it had too much anchovies and olives, and not enough of the pastry. I wished the ratio could be better. The servers were attentive however, and will certainly give it a try again maybe for dinner.

If you’re looking for good French food at an affordable price, Olivier Bistro is definitely worth the visit! I’ve been here twice — [brunch and dinner] and have really enjoyed my dining experience. The French toast for brunch was fantastic while the Grilled Pork for dinner was impressive. The sunchokes really added a nice unique touch to the flavor of the meal. Service here has always been very attentive and friendly while the atmosphere is very charming. There’s a small set of outdoor tables, however, the view of 4th Avenue is a bit of an eyesore. Note: This place accepts American Express or cash only.

I have been crossing my fingers for a great breakfast/brunch spot in the Park Slope area, not really for my sake but mostly for my boyfriend, who is absolutely obsessed with breakfast foods. So of course, I found Olivier on Unilocal and got super excited about it, hoping it would live up to its reviews, ESPECIALLY because not one 3 – 5 starred places in the Park Slope area serves what we call an amazing brunch menu(found in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and downtown Manhattan). Sadly, Olivier fell into that same category of disappointment. In their defense, they live up to a certain standard. A standard set by other mediocre restaurants in that neighborhood, particularly that of contemporary American and French bistros. This overall standard is extremely average and nothing above and beyond. Service is always unmemorable, food is plain and typical, and we never seem to leave feeling wowed by any factor. Food ordered: Eggs Benedict — super plain. TOO plain. In fact, it could potentially be the most mundane benedict we’ve ever seen. Eggs were poached just right. Tartine — a bit salty. the brisket was overcooked. The bread was way too soggy from the sauce. Eggs were cooked perfectly. As a breakfast/brunch spot in New York City, I feel it is absolutely essential to offer fresh products and foods made in-house. If you go to Egg, Brooklyn Label, Five Leaves, Esme…(the list goes on and on), you will see what I mean. Orange juice should be freshly squeezed, hot sauces and ketchup should be made in-house, ham for eggs benedict should be cooked by the chef and not bought in a nearby deli, and eggs should be organic/cage-free. These have essentially become basics for a solid New York City restaurant. With all that being said, Olivier did not offer these key things but the prices were comparable with other places that do. The food was not terrible, our server was kind and friendly although not very attentive, and the storefront and outdoor seating were charming. However, even with the positives, we couldn’t help but be disappointed that we did not find our neighborhood breakfast gem that we had hoped it would be.

On the wasteland that 4th avenue can be we always found this place to look so inviting but never quite remembered or hit at right time to try out. After being further intrigued by Unilocal review we finally decided to take the plunge for brunch. Unfortunately it was a little cool to sit outside and we were about to bail when the incredibly nice manager(at least we were assuming he was) came out and encouraged us to step in. We figured it was a sign so went for it. As soon as we got in the nice guy disappeared and a totally disinterested waitress went to seat is right next to another couple when whole place was empty(why do restaurants think you want to be jammed tight to strangers). When we asked if we could have next table she seemed so annoyed. Moving on we decided to go for Tartine D’Olivier(brisket over eggs) and Steak and eggs. We went for the coffee since it seems to promote itself as coffee shop too. We asked if coffee was from a particular roaster and waitress again seemed annoyed and had not idea. When food came out it looked promising but sadly the Tartine was cold and pretty bland and the steak had that stove gas taste to it. Overall not a great experience but maybe we ordered wrong thing or maybe this is really meant to be more of a bar… that has food. Regardless we left feeling no desire to ever go back.

We made a reservation a day before using Unilocal(yay Unilocal! for being so very COOL!) Its a cute, small, dimly lit place and casually romantic enough for a first date! Now to the food: I have mixed feelings about each dish. First, mushroom truffle soup was just OK. I guess I just don’t like Mushroom soup. Next, I had the pasta special which was Spaghetti pasta with shrimps, octopus, and clams. The sauce was black so It looked really interesting. BUT, the taste was SOVERY Tasteless. I couldn’t even figure out what the dish wanted to taste like. So sad. I could be wrong but I sort of felt like the food was not made to order. It seemed like it was sitting for awhile. Not sure about this though. Lastly, we also ordered the steak with french fries. French Fries were yummy… Can’t go wrong with french fries. The Steak was nice and tender. I’d say just order this and be done with the rest. For Dessert, we had the apple pie with ice cream. But no crust! I was really looking forward to the crust! So, I didn’t enjoy this one either. But you might! so Give it a try! Yummy in your tummy…

This morning I was a little stuffy… so I called my doctor and he said«Just head over to Olivier Bistro and order the spicy merguez sandwich… that’ll clear you right up». Sweet baby jesus he was right. Have you ever had french mustard before? And I’m not talking about that Dijon crap. I’m talking about the stuff that feels like injecting wasabi directly behind your nasal passage. It’s 12 hrs later and I can still feel the burn, but you know what… I can breathe easy. What a sandwich! I was in tears on certain bites. Be warned, if spicy mustard isn’t your thing, just ask them to go easy on it. And the fries… they were the most perfect cooked and salted fries I had ever had. I instinctively asked for ketchup when they brought it out, but it was not necessary. This outfit has really gotten it’s act together. Better menu options, better quality food, same friendly service. I’m glad to see they are continually improving. Well done Olivier!
