I’m quite surprised at the mediocre review of Omiya. Our cousin brought a sushi platter from Omiya to family dinner several times, and I always felt the quality of the sushi was very fresh. Salmon sushi is my go to staple at a Japanese restaurant. It is more easy to muck up than your regular ‘ol Cali or eel avocado roll. And Omiya’s is always great, whether we do takeout or we eat it in house. For our dine-in dinner the other day, we ordered 6 items total, and it only came to $ 23. That’s 6 items folks… 2 lunch specials in NYC already bring you well over that amount. Most of them were rolls, with one miso soup for my daughter since she wasn’t feeling well. Delish stuff. It came out very quickly too which was nice for me. The interior of the restaurant is very calming and simple. I definitely like dining here, and will be frequenting with the family more often.

Questionable quality to say the least. We just moved our offices here and needed something to eat for the next couple of days so we decided to order from here since everyone is familiar with the one in our old neighborhood. I have no idea why I thought this would be a good idea since I’m not a fan of the other location either. The first time they forgot one of the rolls we ordered but we let it go since they didn’t charge us for it. However, today was completely unacceptable. Everything was leaking when we got our delivery and we’re not even that far from them. I understand with liquids like miso soup and soy sauce things will leak a little bit but everything in our bag was soaked which made for quite an unpleasant experience. The main reason I have giving this place such a low rating is because the fish here is not fresh at all, it looks very cloudy and appears to be oozing liquid from it. Good, fresh fish should not smell or taste fishy. I am super paranoid I might get the runs at work. When I bit into my salmon roll there was something hard in it. It freaked me out so much, I spat it back out. Plus it’s overpriced for the quality, I will continue to hunt for a better sushi spot.

Is this the best sushi spot in Brooklyn? Absolutely not. Is this place affordable? Absolutely YES! It seems like they always have the buy 1 chef’s special appetizer, get 1 free and buy 1 special roll, get 1 free deal going on and I am definitely not complaining! For the chef’s special appetizers — my boyfriend and I got the Tuna/Salmon Cracker and Mango Eel. For the special roll — we got Dragon Roll and Spider roll. There was not much of a wait time for our appetizer followed by rolls to be served! Tuna/Salmon Cracker — this can easily become one’s favorite appetizer! It comes in 4 pieces of seaweed cracker each topped with either tuna or salmon. The cracker had a somewhat wasabi taste to it which I find super unique. The cracker was crunchy and blended so well with either the tuna or salmon. I highly recommend this appetizer! Mango Eel — this appetizer is basically fried little pieces of eel tossed with shredded mango slices, lettuce with a special sauce. I wasn’t a huge fan of this but my boyfriend was. I didn’t really like how the eel tasted — it was a bit weird fried. But the mango was pretty fresh! Spider Roll — this roll came in 5 pieces(isn’t standard 6?) and was definitely not up to par compared to other sushi places I tried. The crab was a bit too soggy for me. Dragon Roll — this was standard. It came in 8 pieces but they seem really tiny(look at my pics)! All of the above for less than $ 25!!! Even though some food wasn’t up to par, I still thought it was worth it given the price point! By the way, this restaurant accepts cash and credit card! I will definitely be a regular customer when I’m craving for sushi!

This is my go to sushi spot, and all around take out restaurant lately too, for that matter! Since the place has been manicured and remodeled(and under new ownership?), their food has made a very noticeable quantum leap in quality! The rolls taste far fresher, and the sashimi have a silky and superb substance about them! Oh, and buy 1 get 1 house special rolls is a deal as dazzling as it is delectable! Nothing but positive things to say about Omiya! Oishii, kanpai, and keep up the good work!

Ordered three spicy rolls– spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy salmon. Threw out ¾ of it.

I would give 3.5 stars if I could. Not exactly the best sushi in Bay Ridge, but certainly not the worst. The salmon pizza was odd — to have raw fish served on some sort of mystery cracker that tasted like naan was weird and unsettling. The chicken teriyaki was plain, but satisfying. The sushi rolls were okay — the fish was fresh, but it was nothing special. Great, polite service. Good deal for lunch specials, and a nice buy one get one free appetizer special. I wouldn’t go again, but if you’re in the mood for sushi, you’ll be satisfied in coming here.

Conviniently located right outside the bus and train stops, this place got me HOOKED. Eat sushi every week from all kinds of places, cheap, or fancy so I am not too picky but this place hits the spot with quality sushi for cheap. I ordered a sweet potato roll, eel mango roll and a grilled salmon with cream cheese roll. All for 3 bucks each and all delicious. Going back there tonight to get myself some rolls and bubble tea to go for my hour long train ride to work :)

This sushi restaurant is very average. They have buy 1 get 1 free special rolls which is probably their selling point. I ordered two rolls for $ 13.95 and they tasted so average. The rice was cold, flavorless, and overcooked. The fish had no taste. It was quite disappointing. And the eel on one of the rolls was extremely salty. However, the reason I give this place 3 stars is because their appetizers are awesome. They are also buy 1 get 1 free. I ordered the Hawaii island which is basically and assortment of salmon, tuna and yellowtail mixed with lettuce and avocado with their house sauce. It was really good with generous portions of avocado and fish. The Star Wars salad was fried shrimp with avocado and lettuce which was also good. Both appetizers only cost $ 8.95. Also, my mom really enjoys their mixed tempura udon. Their tempura is crispy but I cannot comment on the udon noodles. Overall, I come here only when my mom wants udon and I am forced to eat their subpar sushi.

I used to frequent this place a lot. A least once a month. This place used to be really good 4 years ago. I don’t know if they change the management or chef there. The quality of the food had decreased dramatically. It went from a 5 stars to 2 stars. The last time I went there, the food tastes like plastic. After that, I had never return to the location.

Omiya is a go-to spot for quick and cheap sushi. Overall, their rolls are tasty and they’re not flimsy with the portions. I also love their spicy salmon salad — they’re generous with the salmon. They have a ton of sushi options on the menu, and their special rolls are buy 1 get 1 free. However, there are many other sushi places in the area with much fresher-tasting sushi. They also get the order wrong on occasion, and lately their deliveries have taken way too long(about an hour). In the years I’ve been eating here, I once got a bone in my sushi and I once got an inedible smoked salmon roll. Other than that, they’re pretty consistent in terms of quality, and I have yet to find a place with more affordable sushi.

This is my favorite sushi takeout spot in brooklyn. Their rolls and handrolls are always very stuffed. The fish is always fresh and thickly sliced. The delivery service is also prompt. The price is very affordable and they also have bogo free for special rolls. I would most definately like to eat in one day but for now the takeout is great.

Four stars for the food plus one more for the value. I’m impressed. I was expecting something mid-range in the«budget sushi» category because of their prices, but my food was quite good. The pieces of fish were an acceptable size. The rice while certainly not the best sushi rice I’ve ever had was fine. I guess I wish the inari was a pouch and not served like sushi, but no matter. Absolutely fantastic value, a great amount of food for under $ 20.

Can i say i don’t know why i haven’t reviewed this place before !!! I am disappointed in myself lol. THISISMYABSOLUTEFAVORITESUSHIRESTAURANT. As you can tell I’m a fan Ive been here countless times(never checked in lol). I Absolutely love sushi and I consider myself a connoisseur of the sorts. Ive eaten sushi everywhere and this has to be my favorite local and just overall best Brooklyn spot period. they have city quality sushi at dirt cheap prices(i mean cmon a regular roll is $ 3 you cant beat that) everything here is literally amazing but some of my favorites when i go are appetizers — rock shrimp, star trek shrimp !! and chicken wings(appitizers on that side of the menu are buy one get one free !!) shumai and dumplings are good as well. regular hand roll — Ginza Roll(my favorite and the only place that does this roll like this) Ebi tempura, Eel avocado, salmon avocado i had the peach wine there before as well and that was pretty good also. overall they have the friendliest staff who never rushes you out and they are always attentive. Two thumbs up !!

My favorite sushi spot! Very affordable and delicious for people that don’t really enjoy raw sushi. I spent $ 120 including tip to feed 6 people and we were so full! Try the eel cream cheese and fried banana roll!

This place has amazing quality sushi, a disco 70s Japanese vibe, and glitter. Oh, and a great price too. When I was waiting outside the place for my + 1, I thought this place was like any regular place on the 86th street strip. I was wrong! I’ve been to a variety of places in the region, but when it comes to value and quality this is my favorite my far. For dinner: Spicy Kani Roll + Tuna Avo Roll + Salmon 1 piece sushi + vanilla tempura ice cream. Out of the two rolls, the tuna Avo was great. Spicy Kani wasn’t as spicy as I thought it was going to be. The tempura ice cream was a little small, but finished everything. Felt satisfied and the food did have texture. The waitress was really nice and attentive, understood us and wasn’t too invasive. A choice to consider instead of ordering from Little Caesars next door!

Decent sushi and prices, not the best but definitely a good deal for the cheap prices. A lot of other sushi spots in bay ridge charge double the prices here. Service is just ok, atmosphere is kind of nice even though they play the same playlist with«My heart will go on» every five minutes. This is our go-to spot for really cheap sushi when we want a quick but inexpensive snack on the weekend. Takeout can also be really slow, depending on when you order. They always say 15 minutes but some times on the weekend it’s more like 45.

Went here on an afternoon a couple months ago. We really focused on getting the chef’s appetizers and a few of the sushi rolls(buy 1, get 1 free). The chef’s appetizers were pretty good. We ordered the Rock shrimp, Hawaii Island, Sunonomo, Calamari salad and a few sushi rolls. The appetizers were plated nicely and tasted good(Rock shrimp and Hawaii Island were probably my favorites). Sushi was good, not great but expected for the price you’re paying. Wouldn’t definitely come back again if in the area.

Ordered out tonight, first time here and… my hard earned $ 35.85 is totally wasted. Too many rolls with funny names on their menu, from Gucci to Prada rolls, and Hello Kitty to Spiderman rolls. Long story short, we stayed on the safe side today and ordered regular Cali, Dragon and Spicy Kani rolls, which all were mediocre. But gave it a shot anyway for their bogo free specialty rolls. Do not even want to talk about it… but I will, Tokyo roll is a tempura battered roll and deep fried, soggy and chewy. Crunchy topping from Samurai roll were all stuck on the lids when the take out lid was taken off. As for the Nabeyaki Soup Udon, soup color was so dark and tasted nothing but soy sauce diluted with water. Not coming back, the end.
