Pacifico, o, Pacifico…(sigh) You could be great. Your outdoor seating is truly unique. Some of your dishes are full of flavor(mole sauce, salsa) But some of your dishes come straight from a can(rice and beans) But your service O Your service THRICE Once my order was in Waitress, you were gone I wanted to tip the busboys more than you But 18% you received Like Swizz Beatz, I’m on to the next one

Came here last Saturday and saw it was closed. Now you may ask yourself. «Mitch, why are you going to review a place that is closed?» You have some nerve questioning me, jerk! Though this isn’t the first time I reviewed a closed place, either to help explain why it’s closed or express deep sorrow. This review is explaining why this placed closed. Now, it’s true I did go here even though I didn’t like the place. I have had fun here and it’s a good place to have some drinks when I’m celebrating a Mexican holiday, for no apparent reason other than it’s an excuse to get drunk. However besides the drinks the place failed on multiple levels. The food wasn’t anything great. It was alright. I never loved it and always felt it lacked. The ridiculous thing was how much they charged. Probably the biggest reason it closed down was the fact no one wants to pay some insane price for Mexican food. It’s fucking Mexican food. Way more money than any Mexican food around and no where near the quality of the others. I did love the venue and thought the setup was nice. It was a good place to have some drinks especially in the summer. I hope whoever takes over the joint will put something much better in and take advantage of its location. Rest in peace Pacifico.

Going to school downtown Brooklyn has lead me to go on a foodie hunt for the best drinks and yummy food(to snack on between classes of course) in a decent walking radius. Ahh Pacifico, they never fail, the margaritas are hands down amazing! I usually always get(which is a first because I NEVER do repeat places, much less repeat dishes) Gringo Tacos or the BBQ Quesidilla(anything with goat cheese is hands down amazing) OMGOMGOMG! Not sure what secret ingredient they sprinkle this food with, but it is SO good! Feel free to read a more in-depth review on my food blog at

If this were based on staff attitudes alone, I would give it approximately 1.5 stars, but thankfully decent fajitas and $ 5 margaritas during happy hour redeem Pacifico. I came here with a friend for drinks, and we ended up taking advantage of their 2 drinks + appetizer + 2 entrees for $ 35 deal. It is a pretty good deal on paper, but of course it involves a seriously limited menu. Still though, I enjoyed my meal and the outdoor seating and I might consider going back if I have a little money to burn and some extra thickness in my skin to not be offended at the standoffish staff.

I came in for the Thursday dinner special with an old friend. 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 2 drinks. Not a bad deal but the food was meh. The nachos weren’t too bad but the tacos were made with cheap over seasoned meat. For the price it came to about $ 20 each and we were stuffed. It wasn’t a bad place but nothing compared to other Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. The outside seating area was nice and the service was good.

Shrimp Enchilada: Good, but pricey and bit oily for my taste. Tacos: Too packed. Instead of 2 over-stuffed tacos, just give 3. Flavors were lacking all around, the meat seemed completely unseasoned. I needed to add hot sauce to every bite. Not a fan of the cole slaw in there either. Margarita: Too sour, and would have loved a pint glass or at least something larger than the half glasses. Still, a favorable pour of tequila. Service: Very curt, unfriendly service from everyone, not just our waitress. Recap: Too pricey given the location & the food.

I have passes this restaurant many times but never went in. My family came in from long island and we needed a place that was friendly towards kids. Many places in Cobble Hill are just not ! Pacifico was great ! Very patient ! And my husband and I had the shrimp and chorizo tostada. It was so good ! The grilled shrimp were yummy and there were plenty of them. I really enjoyed the whole dish. They accommodated my grandsons with their custom nachos. The wait staff could have been more attentive. And the drinks were a bit lackluster . But good food… definitely would go back !

3-stars is right on… Margaritas are too sour, but on the strong side, which is a plus. They definitely do not use fresh lime juice. The food is average — the wings and nachos are good… The biggest redeeming quality is the outside seating… it’s a great spot to have a drink outdoors. Prices are a bit steep for BK as well.

This place looks like something straight out of ocean city or some where like that. It’s a but junky looking from the outside. There is a patio that seats quite a good number of people. And an inside with a full bar. Went for Sunday brunch and found it quite filled outside. Sat down and waited a good 20 minutes before a server came for drink orders. Another 15 – 20 min elapses before the drinks are delivered. Good thing the weather was good and we didn’t mind waiting. Food was eh. I ordered steak and hash. Was not quite what I thought it would be, maybe one egg on top of 80% potatoes and some steak scattered in there. The group had mussels, guacamole, tacos. All just par mexican food. Brunch $ 4 beer bottles and bellinis. This is probably somewhere I won’t return.

This place gives me the creeps. It’s grungy and gross on the inside. The outside dining area is reminiscent of west coast eatery, which is fair for the cuisine. Except being in New York, the weather and elements have destroyed it– leaving it almost unsanitary. Or to the eye. Food was decent, no real complaints at all. Portions are sized well, not huge, so you don’t have to stuff yourself or bring a bag home. Service was horrible. I don’t think I’ve been so neglected before. After waiting for about 15 minutes for someone to show up after being seated, we were about ready to get up and leave. Fortunately someone got there seconds(literally) before. Eventually we go our drink orders in, and then waited yet another 15 to get them. Should have just decided what we wanted beforehand, knowing it would have taken this long. I can’t really say I’d go back, but if I could get it delivered, the food was worth eating again… just not the dine-in experience.

So me and the team had a farewell lunch. Our boss is very particular about her food so she suggests some sushi place. The guy who is leaving hates the place and asks«Has anyone ever been to Pacifico?» My eyes opened and I said«Hell yeah! Thy place is good.» We ditched the sushi and headed to Pacific Street. We started off with the chicken wings, guacamole and the calamari. One of our team is a feen for calamari. His eyes opened wide when he ate it. Who knew a Mexican restaurant would make calamari better than most of the Italian restaurants he’s been to! The wings were crispy and flavorful. The guys were rubbing nachos in the wing sauce the whole lunch. The entrees came out and everyone got quiet and happy. I had the pulled BBQ sandwich with pineapple slaw. Great with the pineapple hot sauce. Everyone was pretty happy, with the exception for the fajitas. They had a lot of oil in their plates. Best part was when my boss turned to us and told us that the restaurant was a great choice. Great food and I love the shanty style backyard! This place is a fav!!!

Outdoor seating. Good sangria. Cucumber calamari, atlantic salmon. Need I say more?

I thought the margarita was great, they do ask if you want it with or without salt for those of you complaining about them being on the salty side. I had the pork chile relleno and was more than satisfied. I thought the flavor, texture, and side of chilaquiles was on point. My only complaint was the lack of house salsa… I asked the server for some red salsa, he brought green, which was actually pretty tasty, but he also charged me $ 2 for it which seemed kind of silly. Isn’t salsa something universally complimentary? The outdoor seating looked like a great place to chill out with friends and drinks on a sunny day. Inside there are two dining sections, and I was a little jealous I didn’t get to sit right by the wood burning fireplace because that smell always reminds me of being in Mexico, so I give it points for adding that aesthetic. The portions were generous, the price was a tad excessive but in general I would say I’m a fan of this place and would definitely go back. There were other items on the menu that looked worth trying. As far as authenticity of the joint… I don’t think it’s greasy enough, which is something I doubt most people would complain about! When I ordered my dish, I expected a greasy side of carnitas with my chile relleno, but instead the pepper was stuffed with shredded pork meat. Don’t get me wrong, it was still great, but it wasn’t what I was expecting. «Carnitas» has a connotation for me(and maybe most Mexican people) of thick cut chunks of pork meat, simmered over an open fire in a copper pot. If you remember going to a family party and watching your uncle-twice-removed act out this ritual after slaughtering a pig you would know what I mean.

Like crashing the remnants of someone’s backyard bbq. Disorganized, sloppy, semi-abandoned-feeling. On the plus side, they’ve got Negra Modelo and an oddly intimate view of the Brooklyn House of Detention.

Pacifico is proof that while it’s hard to fuck up beer and nachos, it’s easy to overcharge for them if you’ve got a great backyard in an excellent location. The service was quarter-assed if they were lucky, but I’ll be back because I like drinking beer in the sunshine. And because I really did enjoy the BBQified beans they use in the very decent portion of nachos. But please do something about the weird musical choices. I’m outside on a beautiful day! Give me Marley, Sublime, hell, even Vampire Weekend. Stop with the Sarah McLachlan, Morrissey and whatever else was happening there.

When my girlfriend says, ‘the waitress hasn’t come yet, do you want to just leave?’ and that thought also runs through my head, now I know, LEAVE. Very nice outdoor space. Very nice, simple menu WITH sangria. Nice people. That’s where it stops. Had a small pitcher of white sangria. Watered down. Had an order of nachos. Unreal looking and HUGE. Too bad I felt the pain of those nachos for still today(written on Thursday, went on Sunday). The waitress also seemed to have every table outside, probably 20 tables, and she was juggling them all horribly. Next time… I’m leaving.

Sub-par. Today is the first warm day of 2011 so Pacifico came to mind when I had the craving for outdoor seating and drinks. I was with 3 other people and we all left unhappy. Our waiter was socially awkward… he was literally so timid and creepily soft spoken, he made me nervous. OK, a big issue with this place is– THEYDONTHAVE A BLENDER. Yes, I’m serious. The other 3 people I was with all wanted FROZEN margaritas. We were told they dont make FROZEN drinks. Major fail. Why not, Pacifico? You’re missing out on a lot of money. The on-the-rocks margaritas were OK, i’ve had better. They also dont give free chips and salsa… another fail in my book. You’re a Mexican restaurant, isnt that in the rule book or something? Ordered the Roasted asparagus with jalapeño cornbread. Asparagus was good, cornbread was horrible. It wasnt the spicy factor that bothered me, it just didnt have a good taste, and I LOVE cornbread. Ordered the Yuca fries– They were great! The only good thing we ordered. Ordered the Grande Burrito with steak. I’ve had WAY better. It had steak, rice, beans and was overloaded with cheese. The flavor was kind of bland. We asked for salsa and we were given a bubbly, watery tomato purée of some sort. It was absolutely awful. Ordered the steak fajitas– very sub-par. I hate to say it, but, Mezcals is much better. Pacifico wont even give you rice and beans with the fajitas. Its just a skillet with bell peppers, onion and steak and a few tortillas on the side. Overall, I felt like I paid to be in outdoor seating. Their food is NOT worth it. Will not return.

If you like Tecate as much as I do, then go to Pacifico! Everything compliments the array of Mexican influence, from the food to the drinks, nothing is out of place. Very nice waitstaff and a huge outside area, you just can’t go wrong. The BEST is when the derelicts appear next door by the drive way/construction area and start singing, oh what nights have been filled with the wretched sound of a 30+ year old who smokes way to much and sounds like my dead grandmother.

If you’re looking for an oasis, this place is most definitely your next pit stop!!! I have brought plenty of friends to this joint when visiting Brooklyn and hands down they all fell in love with it. Quite frankly, I don’t’ know why this restaurant only received 3 stars overall. The choices are plentiful, the portions are ludicrous and the prices are ridiculously amazing especially if you’re going there for dinner. The best kicker of it all is that it has an outdoor patio that is illuminated by x-mass lights. This doesn’t mean that they place tables and chairs on the street as passerby watch you hoover, but instead it is located inside which provides the privacy you need to sit back, relax and dine. During the winter, they also have a fireplace for you to cozy on up, which is very sweet :) Suggestion: Since their foods are extremely generous, it’s best to share. I usually order the ribs($ 10) and either their steak fajitas or vegetarian quesadilla that are to die for!!! Pro: The price, the drinks, the décor and the service!!! Con: Absolutely none whatsoever

Two stars for outdoor seating and that’s about it. It’s a warm, but nice spring night and my friends wanted to sit outside, kick back and enjoy some sangria. The wait for a table was about 20 mins, but luckily, we missed the crowd because once we were waiting, people started to come in and it looked like the wait would be much longer. We were seated in a corner, the space was a bit cramped, but I suppose that’s expected. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas, my friend ordered the veggie enchiladas and my friend’s boyfriend ordered the fish tacos. We also ordered yucca fries as a side. Our food comes out and what do I see in my shrimp enchiladas — HAIR. YUMMYHAIR! Of course, I sent it back. However, the kitchen doesn’t look very clean since you can see it by the restrooms, so I’m not surprised. While awaiting for my food, I was able to try my friend’s dishes. Fish tacos — were suprsingly tasty probably the best dish I had. However, I think it’d be hard to mess up fish tacos. There wasn’t too much sauce and it was good. Veggie enchiladas — kind of bland. Shrimpy enchiladas(new plate, hairless) — for all I know they just took out the hair, put in the microwave and Voila! New plate of enchiladas! Anyway, there were ok, shrimp wasn’t fresh. yuck. The only redeeming factor was the cheese atop the tortillas! haha. Yucca fries — eh — fried yucca. can’t go wrong, unless you don’t like yucca. Prices are ok — $ 12-$ 20 a plate. Anyway, this is a cool spot to have a beer and maybe an appetizer and just chill outside — dont’ have dinner here though, but if you do — don’t expect much.
