Never had a drink I didn’t like. Unique recipes and very knowledgeable crew of neighborhood folks. The beers are also great, try the black lager for something extra! AND it’s probably the only bar with as many(or more?) garden seats as indoor seats. P. S. Meat pies for $ 7

Absolutely worth checking out. Pleasant, chill vibe in a dark space with an awesome outdoor area. Came here for a private event my friends put together the day before their wedding, which was easily 5 stars across the board. On any other day or night, it’s still a good time and what I would consider my kind of place. Does feel a TINY bit pretentious and the drinks cost upwards of $ 13 which is a little too Manhattanesque if you ask me. Can’t say they’re not worth it; the drink menu is intriguing and the bartenders know what they’re doing.

Quarter Bar is the best bar for cocktails, but also good wine options, in the neighborhood. It has a very cozy feel, basically my ideal date spot if I need to pick a place near me but also a great place to chill with friends and keep it classy. A little more of a 30 something crowd I would say.

We rolled in right when they opened. The bartender was a little flustered but rebounded immediately by making some killer cocktails. Delicious!

I’ve been coming here for 2+ years. I live in Kensington/Windsor Terrace and while there are NOW a few bars nearby, at the time there weren’t — except Denny’s which was too dive-y even for me, and Shenanigans which I just never ended up going to — to this day… TAKESCREDITCARDS!!! Quarter Bar is near Freddy’s NEW location, and I ended up here once somehow — then, 2+ years ago whenever I started coming here, it became my OKCupid first-date place — familiar, RELATIVELY near my home but not TOO close for comfort to meet an online-dating-site-first-date, and in the NEIGHBORHOOD of Freddy’s, my regular. Little risk of unwanted further online-date interaction if it didn’t work out(which it never did). Quarter Bar has been here longer that any still-open bar in «South Slope» — opened in June 2007 –before anyone thought to call it «South Slope.» Great cocktails, friendly and knowledgeable staff, HUGE backyard!!! Two thumbs up!!!

Love Quarter Bar! Heather(Sunday bartender) is amazing and so friendly. She took good care of my husband and I who stopped in for a post brunch cocktail. We ended up staying much longer than expected because of what a cool vibe the place has. Husband described it as being at home at a friend’s kitchen. The music selection was really good too(everything from mellow hip hop to jazz to Salsa!) They have a cute outdoor patio with ample seating. Perfect in good weather. The beer and wine selection is great(Malbec is on point). I think this will easily become a staple in our bar rotation. Love.

Small bar with attentive bar tenders. An eclectic cocktail drink menu that I enjoyed overall. It’s got a comfy semi hipster vibe here. Drinks range around 11 – 13 dollars per, which might be a little expensive given the area but not too bad overall.

Best cocktails in the Slope, and yet it’s not pretentious or overpriced. Bartenders are top-notch and the vibe is great. Backyard garden seating is a huge bonus when the weather is nice.

Sunday afternoon bar crawl series chapter 5 — read with a grain of salt people! Dark but pleasant bar with really carefully made delicious cocktails. I had 2 from their menu which basically called an end to a prodigious crawl. The first one might have been the Plantation and the other one was something else, but definitely not the one with the grenadine because the bartender told me it was the least impressive. One of the drinks was a very pretty emerald green that tasted like pretty thoughts and a snappy breeze in the Adirondacks. The other drink tasted like it was really time to be going don’t you think? But yes; very tasty and all-too slurpable. I will definitely come back and order possibly the same drinks without realizing it. Definitely go for the green one. I saw that there was a backyard but we parked it at the round booth up front where we could imagine we were mafia lords. Thanks Quarter!

My husband and I stopped by here around 6 pm after a day of Sunset Park strolling. Dimly lit, chill bar, love the jazz music at the perfect tone, inductive for conversation. Bartender was pleasant enough although not overtly cheerful. I got the gin-based drink I can’t think the name of and my hubs got the hot-buttered rum. While mine was very strong I think the highlight of a good cocktail is when it is mixed so well the liquor is not overpowering. Not the case with mine. The other ingredients did not shine through enough. The same with the buttered rum. The bartender was nice enough to charge my iPhone behind the bar when asked so an extra star for that. However for AMAZING cocktails I would drive over to Catfish in Crown Heights. Those bartenders have got it going on.

dimly lit, quiet bar. kind of pretentious, but still not unpretentious the bartenders pour great drinks, their rotating list of liquor drinks are all made with extreme care. theres a good assortment on the jukebox of indie/80’s/synth music

Cozy little bar that seems like it would be cool at night. We arrived around 5:30 on a Friday and it was completely empty, except the bartender. He was not a friendly guy either. A few great choices for beer on draft, which was a nice surprise. There is a minimum for credit cards, which is irritating, but seems to be the norm lately. This irrationally bugs me. If I was back in the neighborhood I would stop by later in the evening, but I wouldn’t make a trip just to visit this bar again.

I was surprised at how much I liked this place. It’s pretty unassuming on the outside, but inside it’s great and I really enjoyed it.

Quarter is a lovely little South Slope enclave with $ 10 cocktails that taste like they should cost at least $ 12 – 15. It’s small but not cramped, fun but not overwhelming, and classy without being pretentious. I love it. I’d tell you that you should check it out, but that would involve a degree of selflessness that I’m afraid I don’t have. See, if you and all your friends come to Quarter, then where will I go on a Friday night for an affordable craft cocktail in a relatively quiet, relaxing atmosphere? Where will I find a bar that has not one, nor two, nor three, but MANY open tables when I walk in at 9 p.m. The answer: I don’t know. So until I become a much more generous person, I’m going to very sweetly smile and tell you that Quarter is my little secret and no, you shouldn’t ever go there because it’s not like I love it or anything.

A cozy and quiet neighborhood bar sandwiched between a laundromat and a bodega — the space is dark and intimate, yet as approachable and unassuming as its surroundings. A sociable and attentive bartender adds to Quarter’s appeal, as do(of course!) its cocktail offerings. If mixed drinks aren’t your thing, then you’re free to choose from several beers on tap. Truly a pleasure to visit Quarter — it’s officially my go-to bar in the area!

This bar is a beacon in the neighborhood and a refuge for reclusive cocktail enthusiasts. In other words, it’s what makes South Slope South Slope. It rests tucked away in a sleepy neck of Fifth Avenue, surrounded by laundromats, bodegas, and age-old mom and pop restaurants. The space is unassuming and dark, and comes across as being low budget without spending the money to pull the look off. The back yard is arguably the best on the entire avenue, like a speakeasy within a speakeasy. I’ve had some of my most memorable, recent conversations back there. Drinks are generally hits with occasional misses. Nothing here can go toe to toe with the likes of Employees Only or even Weather Up(Tribeca), but when it’s freezing outside and your undies are on the spin cycle next door, a flawlessly crafted Hot Buttered Rum will help reaffirm your belief in God. Though likely unintentional, the service can occasionally come across as frigid. It’s not that management doesn’t care. They do. It’s just that their approach, in terms of both drink making and service, tends to side more with scientific exploration than it does with gut instinct. This can be both a pro and a con depending on which way you look at it. All minor criticisms aside, I couldn’t image the neighborhood without Quarter, and I don’t want to. Check it out and see for yourself.

Blessed is the soul who moves to South Slope and calls Quarter their regular bar. But be warned. This is not a place to order any kind of bomb or a Miller Lite. Flee north for that business. Carefully-crafted cocktails and a intentionally short and considered beer list are the order of the day(er, night) here. Vinegar in a cocktail? Yes. Vinegar in a cocktail. I dunno. I made a weird face when I saw it going into the glass but after two sips you know you’re gonna order another. Desert Shrub will become a good friend this summer. The back garden is cool, cozy and a good place to have a top secret meeting or spend a warm evening with the object of your affections.

If you’re from Chicago. its like Violet Hour met Small Bar and had an unpretentious baby with really amazing mixology skills. If not. then its small, cozy, cute and dark. They have some nice beers and beverages as well as a nightly selection of fancy pants drinks mixed by their excellent bartender. I went during the week, and by 10pm it was definitely crowded. If you want a seat, best to get there earlier. I can no longer recall the names of my drinks, but my friend got the Honey Bee and it was yum yum good! I ordered a gin cocktail with miso paste(didn’t read the menu carefully) and it was really not up my alley. After going back to order another drink pretty soon after, the bartender nicely guessed I wasn’t a lush, and gave me something new(gin and apple) on the house. If you want a bud light at a long bar then there are plenty of dives to go hold up the rail at. Take a good friend or a date here, i’ll be back!
