What a letdown this place turned out to be. After having paid in full for my wedding, I received notice 2 days before the date that they were closed forever. The owner had been going on and on and on about how they ALWAYS manage to have the weddings even during Sandy and when a pipe burst… all of it was lip service to steal my money. The people who worked(other than the owner and possibly Princess Jones the events person who may or may not have known about the impending bankruptcy and corruption) there were great — they were always friendly and even volunteered to work at our wedding for free despite not getting their paychecks. Poop.

Updating because of the crap that my fiancée’ and I, and everyone else have to deal with. The Owner ran off and stole our money. We now have a few months to reschedule everything! I still give it a star because the staff has been so amazing. They were great while the place was open and they’ve been great since. Jason Stevens is a criminal who hurt hundreds of people and I hope justice is served.

JILTED by my wedding venue when owner and(exploitive deleted), Jason Stevens, took all the money and ran. I have months to plan my wedding and half the money I started with! F-U ReBar! (the STAFF at reBar, get FIVESTARS for being SO supportive and working tirelessly to help us displaced couples find alternatives!)

After my first bad Unilocal review the owner contacted me, attempting to bribe me with a $ 200 credit to reBar. He never said that I would have to retract my review but it was implied. I never justified it with a response. I thought it was important to tell how bad our service was there because we were considering spending $ 20k for our wedding there based on the thousands of stellar reviews. And now they are bankrupt and the owner has run off with the money, nowhere to be found. Disgusting!

Wanted! For embezzlement. Jason Stevens(Owner of rebar) He disappeared without paying over 35 staff members and stole over 100 deposits of no less then $ 6000 from future brides and grooms anticipating on celebrating their marriages at this establishment. He’s a Monster.

I have to update given the recent news. I really loved having this place around the corner when I lived in DUMBO — that breakfast special and unlimited coffee made studying for the bar bearable. But having an outstanding five star review after this guy ran off with people’s money makes me queasy. Best of luck to the blameless staff and to the people who had their money stolen. I hope they track this guy down.

I didn’t even want to give a star, but it made me. ReBar was a part of my life for the last year. I worked 1 – 3 weddings every weekend-seeing the joy and excitement of new couples was something we worked hard towards. Jason Stevens, the former owner of ReBar never cane to the actual wedding to see the hard work put in by couples and their families, but also by their staff. We would run to the store for hair spray or a wedding cake unexpectedly not being delivered. He never appreciated us as staff-always accusing, never praising. He took countless deposits from excited and vulnerable couples. I knew his schpeel on our Brooklyn style weddings being one of a kind. They truly were, but not because of him. It was Tyler and Katherine that made the couples feel at home on their special day. Orlando and Pete making sure all the logistics were figures out with staffing and making sure all guests were comfortable. It was Terry, Kevono, and the Henny’s who made sure the apps and dinner buffet was out on time and to perfection. It was bartenders like Kelly, Wiggles, Evan, Brian, and Dina who made the guests laugh while they danced ridiculously to «Happy.» It was Edgard, Ricardo, myself(Danielle), Ildor, Chris, and Dina who made sure every guest was happy, having fun, and well fed. And who can forget X? She got so close to our couples she managed to be in every wedding picture! Our security team O, Stephen, Allen, CJ all making sure people were safe and having fun. I want you all to think of ReBar separate from Jason Stevens because he is not ReBar. He is a crook who stole innocent couples money as well as his own staff… To the couples again WEARESORRY. We never saw this coming. My coworkers and I would do anything to hold your weddings at that venue. ReBar will be missed not because of Jason, but because of the hard work of their staff and the clientele.

After crossing the Bk Bridge a couple of days ago, I was searching for a place to nosh — I stumbled on ReBar(they’re usually closed on the weekends). This was fate! I was seated and immediately ordered the Thai wings, fries and cole slaw. First off the place is incredibly spacious — I could see a private party of 30+ and still have room for other patrons to dine comfortably. The food was tasty! I wanted to finish it all but my eye were bugger than my stomach. It hit the spot — next time I will try their burgers. Had a great experience — looking forward up my next chance encounter. Can you guys open for brunch on the weekends? Just a thought :)

I think the space is super cool. However, trying to get a drink at the bar is very difficult. While the drinks aren’t bad, and they offer an organic tequila called«Dulce Vida.» It is 100% Blue Agave and 100 Proof Tequila. it is just very difficult to get any attention/service at the bar. Over the years, they have truly decked out the environment/atmosphere and is definitely worth checking out.

It’s across the street from my apt and I rarely go there. The food is actually good, but the holier than thou staff is annoying. If you want to eat certain foods, you have to sit in the bar and order from the bar. All of the food comes from the same kitchen, but you can’t have nachos in the dining room, nachos can only turn left out of the kitchen.(Even if the dining room is empty and the nachos are only an appetizer.) Upon attempting to order the nachos, the bartender didn’t seem to understand that there was a nacho special on the board outside. That was what had coaxed me in there on a cold day, I had now moved into the bar area so I could eat them, and I really wanted them! He wanted me to choose nachos from the menu and refused to acknowledge that there was even a special board. I finally got the nachos and they were great, but the headache involved seemed so unnecessary. Another time when I went in for breakfast which was advertised until 11, they told me at 10:30 that I was too late. The food is not the issue. I just hate being looked down on by people with whom I choose to spend my hard earned money. It’s sad for them, because I live so close by and could be a consistent and loyal customer. :P

Ehhhh not super impressed but the place had some charm. Once we walked in we were met with a really amazing restaurant design. The lighting, furniture, and art and really incredible so they def have that box checked. It wasnt super crowded but the waiter still moved slower then expected. They had somewhat of a slim menu when it came to food but if your looking to drink then youve found the right place. Their wine and beer menu is extensive. We ordered a couple of burgers but when we ordered sides it wasnt clear that fries werent automatic so our burgers came with salads. Not ideal so we ordered an extra side of fries to split. Our tabel had no salt, pepper, or ketchup. Our waiter kindly brought it over and we gave him the heads up but that should kinda be a no brainer. When my burger came the amount of grease still on the burger was kind of gross. The burger was decent but that initial avalanche of grease that dripped off my burger bun was a bit much. Aside from that everything was pretty cool the wait staff could either use some sunday help or just step it up a bit !

Come in only during their lunch hours! They have awesome deals for under 10 $. I got the rebar burger which wasn’t bad, I would only get it because of the lunch special. Their lemonade is pretty good too!

This review is rating a wedding at reBar: Recently attended a wedding here and absolutely loved it. I think a wedding should show off the couple’s style and this definitely did. The décor is very cool and didn’t need any decorations. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There were very delicious passed hor d’oeuvres of mini grilled cheese, fried sweet potato puffs, mac n cheese, sesame tuna, huge sliders and beef satay skewers. The hallway is where the buffet stations were set up and there was another bar in the smaller room on the side besides the main bar. The main bar had a huge selection of liquor and an impressive selection of expensive scotches and bourbons. The surrounding area in downtown Brooklyn is gorgeous and you can get great pictures on the roof with the bridge in the background. I think that if you want a very unique wedding this is the venue for you.

This weekend I was given the opportunity for an absolutely fabulous tasting of most of ReBar’s menu courtesy of a good friend and the head Chef Jeremy! I was initially a fan of this bar and restaurant to begin with, often coming in pre Dumbo Tech start up events with Steph P. and we would imbibe in their dollar off craft beers and $ 3 bar item gouda mac and cheese during week day happy hours. To start we were offered bowls of both regular buttered and olive oil popcorn. I must say, I actually think I like olive oil better; which I would have never thought of trying or doing to popcorn. I don’t even like popcorn but it was tasty. I also ordered both a Southampton Crème Brulee stout and later a lighter Elysian. The Stout is very very sweet for a dark beer. The other was great. I’m not sure which one it was. Possibly Ambrosia but they change the taps here regularly so I’m always surprised with the beers in stock. For our group he brought out a whole slew and amazing spread of appetizers to try. Their infamous gouda mac and cheese, the lobster bisque, smoked duck carpaccio, a salad made up of sliced cucumbers with a tangy Asian like sauce that I think that were their seasonal vegetables, and the Chef’s Signature Polenta with a sunnyside up egg and truffle oil. Honest to God, everything was so freaking delicious. The lobster bisque was the special soup of the day and had chunks of chorizo inside of its creamy, rich broth. The Polenta was one of the best polentas I’ve ever had and something I really ought to order more frequently. Even the vegetables were fantastic and refreshing tasting. The play on flavors worked so well with each dish. For entrees we all decided to order something different so that we could sample each other’s dishes. I had the herb roasted half chicken that comes with finely whipped potatoes and spinach. The herbs soak well into everything, lots of rosemary and thyme and that chicken is enormous. I still have left-overs as we speak in my fridge. We also ordered the pork chop, the jumbo day boat scallops resting on huge duchessed purple potatoes, and the fish of the day which I sadly can’t remember the name of but it came with an interesting assortment of vegetables in a gigantic pouch. If that wasn’t enough we ended the night with a slab of red velvet cake and a slice of chocolate bourbon pecan pie with some sparkling rose. DOTHEPIE. GETTHATPIE. They make all of their deserts in-house and the ice cream is so fresh tasting. But THATPIE. GOODGRAVY. Thank you again for such a wonderful night!

reBar is STILL my absolutely favorite gastropub in DUMBO, however I have to update my review in lieu of yesterday’s CAKE experience… Let me just say, I DONOT like Courtney Love ATALL — but Hole did have some catchy songs back in the day and remember the song«Doll Parts» where she belts out, «I want to be the girl with the most cake» — well last night, my friend and I were certainly the girls with the MOSTCAKE. I knew reBar made a mean Red Velvet cake, but last night I learned that such things existed here like Reeses Cake, TWIX cake, SNICKERS Cake and the standards like Chocolate Chip/Peanut Butter Cake, Oreo Cookies N’ Cream cake and a Bannana Pineapple Cake(looked awful to me as I don’t like either flavor — but I’m sure it’s orgasmic tasting if you do, lol)… We ordered the $ 45 prefix menu last night and split it amongst our group of three. We went with a Second, a Main course and a Dessert — but with all these RIDICULOUS cake options I made an executive decision and ordered an other piece of cake. The main course we chose was a medium reBurger for the guy in our group, he liked it a lot and it was served with pretty delicious shoestring fries, they were tasty but certainly didn’t crack my top 10 favorite fry list(which to be honest I wasn’t even aware existed until I began to write this review… lol). As our second we went with their decadent & creamy smoked gouda mac n’ cheese — they brought out two servings which was great as far as the $ 12 value goes, I’m unsure if the 2 servings was an error or if they actually do that for the prefix — but needless to say my girlfriend and I crushed those mac n’ cheese dishes with a quickness — In my opinion there’s no greater comfort food than pasta and we certainly needed some comforting… Now for DESSERT. LETTHEREBECAKE(s)!!! My friend had her heart pretty much set on the Twix cake ever since her beautiful eyes glazed over as she longingly stared up at it in it’s glass case. I was between Snicker and Oreo Cookies N’ Cream — I went with the latter after one of the chefs told me that the Snicker and Twix cakes were closer in similarities than the latter option so Oreo Cookie Cake one… not to mention the frosting on it looked RIDICULOUS(and it waaaaaaaas –_-). I could go into crazy detail here about each cake, but I’m not. I took a copious amount of pictures and you can find them attached to this review…(cake) pictures can speak a thousand words. Just know that if you come here to enjoy their fantastic selection of international beers(mostly German and Belgium with a few other imports sprinkled in) you should also try the cake. 1 slice is like $ 8.75 but can EASILY please 3 people. CAKE. So amazing here… who knew? I love you, reBar {3.

After strolling around DUMBO on beautiful Saturday afternoon, a few of us came here for lunch and everything about this place was perfect! Once inside, this restaurant/bar was huge but of course I would have never known this by looking at it from the outside. With plenty of space, we didn’t have to wait long and was seated immediately. The bar area was beautiful and I especially took a liking to the exposed brick wall that made this place look super cool and chilled, especially with the street art that they had hanging near the walk way to the restroom. As for their food, it was super affordable and tasty. I ended up ordering their Fish Banh Mi($ 10) and it was pretty good. Not only did they cook my salmon perfectly but my side slaw of shredded mango, fennel and apple was refreshing and matched perfectly with my dish. Although I can’t say my sandwich tasted like an authentic Vietnamese sandwich, I still would consider ordering this dish again. As for alcohol, they offer a slew of drinks and our bartender was also very nice while serving us. Now that Spring has arrived, I definitely plan on coming back here again and would highly recommend this place to anyone who is around the area.

After wandering around DUMBO, pretending to be an art aficionado and lover of interesting urban structures, we were hungry and one of us was hungover to boot. reBar has been on my to-taste list for a while thanks to numerous references from friends to go check it out so this was the perfect opportunity to, well, go check it out. The atmosphere is really relaxed — it almost feels like you’re in a barn because it’s open and airy, but at the same time warm and rustic. Apparently, it’s also a wedding venue. I could see it being a *very* cool wedding venue. We were there for lunch and the menu won me over — banh mi, falafel burgers, smoked gouda mac and cheese?! Not to mention the multitude of sides, the awesome beer list and other goodies. I had the falafel burger and shared a side of mac and cheese with my lunch buddy. He had the turkey panini with the skinniest shoe-string fries I’d ever seen. Of course, when I saw they had one of my favorite beers on hand, I was even more excited for lunch. It’s the little things, ya know? Now, on this visit, not all was perfect. I originally wanted the fish banh mi, but they ran out of the fish. They also mixed up our orders and while the beer came out lightening fast, our food was not the same. We didn’t really grumble, though we were looking meaningfully at the server station after a while — this translated into profuse apologies from the waiter and them comping our mac and cheese. In my opinion, that’s great service. We didn’t have to grumble, they realized something was up, fixed it and also went the extra mile. Thank my lucky stars that I get to come back here this week!

Came here to photograph a wedding reception on a blistering 95 degree day in June. there was enough AC to keep people relatively cool. Wedding was awesome, the bride and groom brought in comedians to do an interacial bit and also conduct the ceremony and it was alot of fun. This kind of space was great for a more relaxed atmosphere and laid back wedding. Used the theater seating to get a great shots of the exended family, and then got to go on the rooftop for some great pictures. Although the rooftop was not for the public, getting access for the bride and groom was easy and an amazing experience. The view of the Manhattan bridge from that close up was spectacular. I’m giving this place five stars primarily for the sliced steak, It was heavenly. The rest of the buffet was great too. Good times at Rebar. Venue was perfect for a less traditional event.
