A decent neighbourhood American style Chinese takeout. They have a few cafeteria style tables for dining in, though this is not the sort of place to be a destination for a sit-down dinner. The dining room, though somewhat run down, is clean, as is the open kitchen. It is also notable that the kitchen staff can be constantly observed cleaning as they work. What elevates Red Apple from many of its peers is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They are eager to pleas, and willing to work with customers on off-menu items when time permits. For a fast and affordable take-out dinner, Red Apple hits the spot.

Best Chinese food in the area! My family and I have been eating from here since we first moved to the neighborhood — over 15 years ago. The owner was different back then, but it’s still been great. I can’t say that they’ve always been on their A game, but 90% of the time I cant complain. Delivery is quick, and the food is always hot, and I cant forget to mention that it’s very affordable. The only thing I could say wrong about them is that they never send enough sauce! Unless we ask for it of course. Whenever relatives and friends travel to visit, Red Apple is what they’re having once they arrive. But I will add, take out is probably the best way to go.

What disaster! Thinking about taking my son to the hospital after eating General Tso’s chicken at this place. He has been vomiting all night and all day! Unless you want to taste your food for days after, do not eat here.

We order take-out from here all the time, and compared to the other Chinese food restaurants around(we’ve tried at least 5) this is the best so far. It’s not fancy, but it’s solid Chinese take-out. And it’s cheap!

I would never have ordered from this place, based on the horror that is its sister restaurant on Smith St, but we just moved to the«Columbia Waterfront District» that day and everything else was closed. Slim pickin’s down there. This sh*t was straight up gross. The fried rice was essentially yellow spanish rice with some hunks of pork thrown in. The chicken dishes we ordered were in theory different entrée’s, but they both tasted like the same overfried chicken in gelatinous slime. Bleeeech. I also ordered some crab rangoon because, f*ck man, I just moved I wanted to eat one of my fav indulgences, but it was straight up nasty time. It tasted like it was cooked in a fryer that hadn’t had the oil changed for a couple of months… or years…(I still ate it, starving children, etc.) I will not be heading back. Why can’t this area of Brooklyn have a decent Chinese restaurant???

the restaurant is a great place to eat. the food is not so expensive and they serve almost everything a normal Chinese restaurant would have and maybe more

This place just feels very dated. I don’t actually know how long it has been here, but all the pictures are faded. The best description of the food I can come up with is ‘almost meh.’ The woman running the counter is a bit aloof, even to other Asians(and even the rest of the staff). One of my culinary school instructors always said to cook with love because it’ll always taste better(and it shows). There’s no love here.

Typical hole-in-the-wall Chinese joint. You know the drill. The big tubs of MSG sitting on the floor are a definite turn-off, especially if you’re anything resembling health conscious. But the delivery is fast.
