great service. Turn around on laundered items could be better

I decided to try Sandy’s Dry Cleaners after my usual laundromat/cleaners on the corner of Avenue J and E. 16th Street closed recently. I dropped off two pairs of pants, a sweater, and a pair of winter boots after I saw their posters advertising cleaning services for Ugg boots(price is $ 25/pair). My boots, which I had bought in a department store in Sevilla, Spain, a few years ago weren’t Uggs but they’re made of a similar material. I loved them because of the soft, plush lining inside(made of synthetic materials). My clothes came back okay, but my boots came back faded on the outside and completely tough on the inside. When I pointed this out to the lady behind the counter, she was completely uncaring, unsympathetic, and apathetic about it. I told her I didn’t think it was fair that I had to pay $ 25 for them to ruin my boots. She explained that they outsourced the cleaning of the boots and she will send them out again to see what the cleaner can do. At the risk of having my favorite pair of boots completely and utterly destroyed, I was hesitant at first but the lady refused to let me take them without paying so I decided to let them try and fix it. When I returned a week later to pick them up, the color looked even more faded and the inside lining wasn’t fixed. Again, they told me I could not take them without paying. Finally, after I threatened to report them to the Better Business Bureau, the guy behind the counter gave me a $ 5. Ultimately, I paid $ 20 for them to ruin my boots. Not only are the prices high($ 5 per piece of clothing), the female employee is extremely rude, and they have poor customer service. DONOTCOMEHERE.
