Very good Chinese food. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

This place seems to have changed ownership(or perhaps the people that used to work there that did a good job don’t work there anymore). The menu has changed, and the service is poor and rude. I have noticed that it seems like the old chef guys aren’t there either — perhaps that explains the removal of some menu items? We used to frequent here, but after giving it a few tries lately I don’t think we will be returning. I must take back my prior recommendation of it. It’s sad to see another good place to go away, but it happens.

I have to come back to this spot! Me and my friend were wondering around late night after a party looking for a snack happen to walk pass this spot that was so welcoming at the late hour. The food was well priced and delicious and fresh! I wish I lived in Brooklyn so I can come back to this place more often! The name matches the food and service! Sensational !

The food is awesome and the price is pretty darn good for non greasy authentic Chinese food. I’m pretty picky with Chinese food and have to say I’m impressed. Delivery was not bad too. I recommend the salt and pepper shrimp.

What should I say more? Authentic Shanghai cuisine — even people who does not like Shanghai that much will definitely dig their food. And the ambiance is good both for group or individual, for special events or simple meals. The service there is home like. Besides, they are even improving better. The owner was the boyfriend of my friend, an ambitious young man with a good taste.

Absolutely do not come here. I came here with a party of five– not ONE of us liked our meal. We’re not even picky eaters, that’s how bad it was. The handmade noodles were so bland and unappetizing, the crispy noodles with vegetables was no joke– a ramen packet with mushy bokchoy. The crab rangoons only came with four dinky pieces. Ugh, and the broccoli with chicken is inedible. Sauce is disgusting and I spit out a piece of chicken because it had a dangling glob of fat attached to it. Waaay gross. Two of my friends are gluten free and the waiter and kitchen staff like couldn’t comprehend that they needed substitutions to not get sick. It was mortifying and nerve-racking for them. Also– our dishes all came out separately. The last two came out FIFTEEN minutes after everyone else’s. Just really obnoxious and awkward. The waiter would be like, «it’ll come out in 2 minutes» …but he meant 10 minutes. The only saving grace was that all of us ended up getting great fortune cookie fortunes. So we left a little less miserable than our meal was.

Food — As a Shanghainese and a super fan for soup dumplings, I have to say this place has the best soup dumplings in the city cos I have tried almost every spot in Chinatown… Flushing…etc.(not as good as them in Shanghai def) also like the tofu dishes+crispy chicken… yummy yummy! Service — It is good service, polite and warm… maybe because we are the only table at 2 in the afternoon? Price — average…a steal for my delicious soup dumplings. Five star just for my Xiao Long Bao!

I don’t understand why there are so many negative reviews about this place and the service. I think the service is great here! First off, the waiter said«Your welcome» every time I said«Thank you». That’s a plus in my books. And then, when I asked for something that I couldn’t find on the menu(Ja Jiang Mein), the chef was able to make it for me. The food is also pretty good and the price is reasonable. I ordered the juicy meat buns, scallion pancakes, and the ja jiang mein and it came out to be less than $ 20.

My experience. Group of 6 people and we ordered: Juicy Pork Dumplings(soup dumplings) — VERY good. BBQ pork buns — meat was a little dry and a little bland. Sesame Chicken — Chicken was chewy — sauce was good Kung Pao Chicken — Not very spicy and meat seemed… off. Beef with String Beans — i’d give it a 6 out of 10. Again something off with the meat and Noodles with Pork which was adequate — dry meat again. We were one of two tables and the waiter seemed to have no idea about 90% of the questions we asked about the food Are these noodles like chow mein noodles or the big flat ones? — «uhhhhh.» Which beef dish would you recommend? «uhhh. i’m not sure» We finished our food and he kept refilling our water but not bringing the check… we waited at least 20 min from when our table was cleared. And then he screwed up our very specific directions on how much money to put on each of 3 credit cards, understandable if we weren’t the ONLY table of people in the entire place. Average to below average food, terrible unexperienced waiter, and an empty restaurant. Won’t return.

I’m giving this 5 stars since there is FINALLY real Chinese food in Williamsburg(not overpriced M. Shanghai or Noodle, or dirty Chinese takeout spots). They’re actually serving authentic Shanghai cuisine here. I would recommend the Cucumber Salad, Seaweed Salad, Pan Fried Beef Buns and of course the Soup Dumplings to start. For entrees, get the Lion’s Head Meatball(called something else on the menu) and Sautéed Pea Shoot Leaves with Garlic. If you order General Tso’s Chicken or Pork Fried Rice-type dishes, please go to your local dirty Chinese takeout spot.

the guy working when we ordered takeout here literally ran over to the door so we wouldn’t have to stand in the rain for one second longer. the food is good, portions are big, it’s not expensive they speak english and have an efficient ordering system, and are just generally really nice. solid, reliable neighborhood spot.

I asked for Sichuan spicy… nothing resembling mild… like, spicy as they can make it… I want my tongue to be tingling… super hot. It was mild at best. Less than 1⁄10 on the spice factor. Quality was good though. That’s about all.

Finally, it really took until now to have a serviceable chinese place in the burg? I love their ribs, peking duck and xia long bai, so much better than M Shanghai/Noodle that its pathetic. Fast as hell delivery and they have that system where they know your address from your phone number which saves you three minutes of awkwards spelling out your address. I feel like I’m 10x more likely to order from a place with this system. Waiting for delivery right now in fact, its great, give it a shot next time you want chinese, I doubt you’d be anything less than pleased.

Our neighborhood had only schlock Chinese food – the kind behind bullet-proof glass that all came out gray – until now. This place is incredible. They have the freshest vegetables, the most choices for all types of eaters(vegans, veggies, gluten free, omnivores, etc.) and they provide large portions too(we have only gotten take out). Best dishes list: Vegetable Pancakes, Vegetarian Mu-Shu, To-Fu Sheets(sounds like laundry, but the broth is great and you can choose your meat or vegetables) and the Dan-Dan Noodle In Shanghai Special Chili Sauce for $ 7 is a steal!

This place reminds me why I’m not usually a huge fan of chinese food… oily and bland. We ordered delivery and got the shrimp dumplings, a noodle dish, and kung-po chicken. The dumplings were decent, but not terribly memorable. I could tell that the noodles would’ve been good had they not been so oily… neither me nor my girlfriend ate more than a couple bites. Same for the kung-po… oily and lacking flavor. If I wasn’t half-loaded, I’d have probably thrown most of it out…

Well, this place is just okay. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt, they have potential to be really good, but they’ve yet to find their niche. There wasn’t anything bad per say, but they haven’t really provided a reason as to why we should choose this place over another place equal in price. Maybe it is because this place is still new that it seemed very generic inside. I felt like this was more of a place you would find in the suburbs rather than Brooklyn. They need to up the décor, dim the lights, and work on that atmosphere for starters. The food was okay too, we got sticky rice shumai, which were good but lacking something. The other dishes we got were lacking as well. We had chicken wings, which i thought were undercooked(although the breading and the sauce they came in was really good). I also had the BBQ ribs, which were pretty greasy and lacking in seasonings. My boyfriend had the mu shu chicken, which he said could have been better as well. At this point, this place has potential but really needs to find their wow-factor that will make people want to come back. Hopefully they are just working out the kinks, because a Chinese place like that would be a great addition to Williamsburg. We shall see…

We ordered delivery from this place tonight. I hate to give it two stars because I’ve only eaten from this place once, but I have to do Unilocal some justice with this one. We ordered Kung Pow Tofu and also Kung Pow Chicken, Noodles with Shanghai Soy Bean Paste, Veggie Buns, Pork Buns, Crispy noodles with Chinese Pork and Chinese Broccoli. Both Kung Pows were swimming in the largest pool of oil I had ever seen. I tried to stir it around with with rice but after taking one bite of the fried tofu and having it squish in my mouth causing my gag reflux to kick in, I decided it was going straight to the trash. Also, the chicken in the my fiancé’s kung pow was super fatty and he threw the whole thing out immediately. I don’t know what the other reviews mean by the food not being greasy. The noodles with soy bean paste were ok. No crazy amounts of oil that I could tell. They had put frozen peas in it, which seemed a bit cheap. The sauce had that special cheap Chinese food consistency where you can tell they used a bunch of corn starch to thicken it and the taste definitely suffered because of it. Not sure how the crispy noodles were, my fiancé ate those, but didn’t finish them. The veggie buns were good! I enjoyed those as much as the ones I get at M. Shanghai. My fiancé said the pork buns were really oily. This place should not have more stars than M. Shanghai. Every experience at M. has been quite lovely for me. I wanted to see if there were any other decent Chinese spots in the area, which is why we tried this place. Will not order from there again. My fiancé: «I sort of want to throw up now» Also, where in the hell can I find a good thick noodle in peanut sauce in Williamsburg?

We had a special experience here. Seeing as it was a mellow Wednesday afternoon, we chose to sit at the bar and were treated to world class service from the lovely Ms. Xu. She recommended some of her favorite dishes and seeing as we share a common love for music we had plenty to talk about. She is a professional, Classically-trained Violinist that has made the final round of a NY Philharmonic Audition. Luckily for us, that kind of prowess at one’s craft is also reflected by the skills displayed in the Kitchen at «Sensation Neo Shanghai». My friend and I love dim sum, so we stuck with mainly ‘appetizers’ or small plates. We had– Juicy Pork+Crab Buns — as Good as any I’ve had in Chinatown, thin wrapper, full-juicy flavor with just a bit of crab on top,(perhaps not as crabb-y as some I’ve had) but excellent. Sticky Rice Shu Mai — The Shiitake-mushroom gave deep flavors this one and the sticky rice was so hearty Crispy Fried Beef Bun — ‘Must be eaten hot!’ Crispy outer, gooey interior on these ones were perfectly complemented by a tangy dipping sauce. Seaweed Salad — a Kelp-based Seaweed salad with subtle garlic and almost smokey flavor was new to me. I would order it again for sure, feels more wholesome than the typical neon-colored seaweed salads at Dumpling spots. Crispy Vegetable Pancake– To top off the meal we split a version of this dish that I wont’ soon forget. The Snow Peas are chopped and cooked to perfection with their greens and put in a fried, yet crispy and dry pancake. Tastes like Shanghai comfort food to me. Green tea comes in a delightful cast iron pot that is weighty, warm and cozy. **They are still applying for a liquor license so it will be a little while before you can drink and dine** I look forward to coming back with my girlfriend for a full meal. Very pleasant atmosphere, delicious Authentic Shanghai-style Chinese Food.

My bf and I walked into this place expecting a typical Chinese restaurant but were pleasantly surprised by the outstanding food. The chef is the former chef of M. Shanghai, so there’s no need to wait in line there. As someone said below, the food is different in that the flavor is not heavy, nor is the food greasy(as Chinese food really is). The ingredients in the dumplings tasted really fresh, and the handpulled noodles were delicious. There were also dishes on there that are hard to find in other Chinese restaurants(the handpulled noodles with beef/chicken & chili peppers). The hot & sour soup was so clean and not gloopy like in other Chinese restaurants(I never order this soup for this reason — this is how hot & sour soup is in China). Also, they have the best soup dumplings I’ve ever tasted in NYC! They call them juicy buns, but they’re soup dumplings, and they’re so flavorful you don’t need the dip. The prices are very cheap for the quality you get, but are pricier than typical Chinese restaurants. The décor is modern and a bit dark, but I think they’re working on that. The place is new, so the hostess/waitress was eager and happy to get our impressions and ask for advice on the décor. I would DEFINITELY go back here.
