Pretty good. Has its own dishes in the all you can eat menu compare to other restaurants. Just the price is a bit higher than the others.

Slow, slow and slow. Never been to a sushi restaurant that has snail speed mastered as well as this one.

Okay food but the wait is terrible. Waited half an hour to get in-and the host didn’t even tell us when a seat was free! Then we waited another half an hour for food. The food that came shouldn’t have taken so long either. We came on a Tuesday, not busy at all, and still had to wait.

Strongly don’t recommend to eat at here. Service is extremely slow and rude! The food never came. We had to ask many times! Left the restaurant and still felt hungry!

Decided to come by for sushi again and the quality of the food is much better than the last time I remembered. Actually tried the salmon sushi this time and I actually like it! I hate raw fish so this is a first. The salmon slices are thinner so maybe that’s why I like it. I hate the feeling of a big mushy glob in my mouth so this is perfect.

I’ve been coming here ever since it opened. The prices are good, the sushi is tasty. Yes sometimes service can get slow and it can take awhile for your order to come, but that’s usually only when it’s crowded. And only certain employees act like there live is ending while working here, but it’s usually the male employees. I don’t have any complaints about the food here. The only downfall are the workers. But don’t let that stop you from coming here. It’s still a pretty good place and I come here whenever I am craving sushi. But also, one thing that I had noticed recently when I went here last week was that they started to do automatic tip on the bill. A 15% tip change which will be about $ 5.76 in tip that they will charge you automatically in the bill. So always bring extra cash.

Now I’ve been to many all you can eat spots, and the first thing you expect is no waiter, no real service, no real interaction with staff, just walk up, get plate after plate until you can’t move, here is not the case. When you walk in they hand you a menu where you select what you’d like and you check off each item. I don’t know why, but they do get a little confused when you put more than one of something, so I make sure that I also tell them«3 salmon teriyaki, 2 gyoza, & so on». Once that parts over, plates will start flying to you as you’re eating and everything is so good, each time they walk over you’re like a little kid on Christmas. Between my woman and I, we mostly enjoy the Kani salad, the shrimp fried rice and the salmon teriyaki is everything. Starting with the rice, it comes in a seasoned cast iron pan that brings on this smoky taste I have never before experienced in a fried rice and it was amazing, one of my favorites ANYWHERE. The salmon comes in small portions so I suggest asking for more than one, every piece has this crisp outer layer of glaze and every small piece packs so much flavor. We also tried the chicken yakatori this time, and it may be our new favorite in out experience here. Sushi wise we have had the spicy tuna, seared salmon, avocado, and shrimp tempura. I know some people are looking at this like it’s blasphemy because that’s not sushi, but every piece, wrapped in cucumber, makes for exciting memorable rolls. The only items I would not suggest are the spring rolls as my partner complained about an odor from them, and the calamari was a bit bland. The udon noodles she normally likes, this also comes in a cast iron, but it was not something she liked here. I have visited this establishment twice now and they are consistent in their friendly atmosphere and delivery, they have 2 customers whenever we are in bk and craving Asian cuisine.

My family was craving sushi and I already had better places in mind, but they raved how this was the best sushi in the neighborhood. I went and service was a bit slow, but their menu is almost like sake. However the quality was definitely NOT as good as sake’s. We had to wait for a table and this little sushi restaurant is small, probably having 10 – 15 tables inside. So my mom got upset over the fact I didn’t order sashimi, I feared getting a stomach ache after reading some Unilocal reviews; oh boy the price we paid for definitely didn’t match quality. I ordered a bunch of salmon sushi, but the rice was very sour, mushy, and left a bitter weird aftertaste in my mouth. You know the rules when it comes to sushi buffets… Better eat it all and get it over with… The fish wasn’t the freshest of course, but at least the waiter was attentive and my mom was having a good time. I felt a little sick afterwards, some nausea and gagging because of the fishiness and bitter/slimy sushi I had for that $ 120 bill. Nope. Probably not coming back.

Cash only All you can eat Sushi. Service is good when it is not crowded. Seating is nicely spaced out that you are not sitting on top of each other. Tried this place several times, it can be a hit or a miss depending on the day. Drinks are free refills which is different from all the other all you can eat places.

Good price for AYCE Japanese buffet! Sushi selection is very limited, evenings can get very busy here.

The majority of people come to Shogun for its AYCE deal(which is actually pretty reasonable compared to most places in Brooklyn) so I think the standards of one’s expectations should be changed(but not necessarily lowered) to suit Shogun’s forte. The staff will be more frazzled, the atmosphere will be more chaotic, and not all your food will come(let’s be honest, who hasn’t bitten off more than they could chew?). So don’t order off the dinner menu or expect your server to wait on you hand and foot; you can go to a more traditional sushi restaurant for that. If you can let go of all these standards of a «conventional» restaurant, then you’ll find Shogun is quite accommodating because these quirks are part of the AYCE experience. That being said, Shogun offers excellent appetizers such as the Negimaki(beef and scallion rolls), stir-fry udon(served in a cute little cast-iron pan), and miso soup(it’s a little buttery, but that’s my own personal preference). A lot of the rolls on the menu are fried, so unless that’s your thing, I would suggest ordering the sushi or the apps.

First time coming here and it was pretty good, I went on Saturday for a late lunch, $ 12.95 per person all you can eat how can we go wrong with that, you must eat at least half of the food because if not they will charge you regular price so don’t get too happy ordering away, free refills on drinks, their shrimp tempura was amazing, the fried rice was ok I’ve had better, overall it was nice experience and the waitress was nice P.s Cash only

Favorite buffet honestly usually cost like 16.50 when you go with friends but totally worth it with the delicious food you get. Always enjoyed experience every time I came.

This place is one of the best sushi buffets in Brooklyn. Their service is so good here. The food also come very fast. The appetizers are just like any typical sushi buffet(fried calamari, gyoza, spring roll, cheese ravioli, Kani salad.) One unique thing here that they have is the creamy«tonkatsu» miso soup. It isn’t really tonkatsu. It’s just miso soup with a creamer or something. When I first tried it I didn’t like it due to the fact I like I my miso soup soupy and not creamy. After a few times of trying it, it tasted ok but still something I don’t reccomend. The other unique thing they have here is the miso salmon. It’s something I always order here. Their rolls here are also very good. The rice portion is good unlike other places where they have a lot of rice. I’d recommend this place if you are looking for a decent price and sushi fix.

The reason for the one star review for this restaurant is because the waiters only provided us with the all-you-can-eat buffet menu and when I asked for a dinner menu, it looked like it survived the last samurai war. The menu looked like it has been passed down for many generations. It was all torn up and there were soy sauce stains all over. I feel like this place is pushing their customers to only get the all-you-can-eat buffet. I had a party of 5 and it was somewhat cramped. For the food, I got the udon soup and the soup base tasted like they just dropped a chunk of butter in it. There was no miso base for the soup at all.

Understand: fish is fish, when you are eating raw, there are higher chances you might get sick, and restaurant have no control over what fish they get from the market place. And its not like the restaurant wants to make you sick. Fact: My wife and her 2 friends got food poisoning from eating there. A Different date, my friend(phil) got food poisoning there. Around the same week. Not recently, like 1 year ago. 1st time me and wife went, we had a good time, food is not bad. Wife stops going after. Phil and i still eat there sometimes. Interms of the food, it is good in general, guys, please. This is not your 35 – 50 $ higher end sushi buffet, dont expect that, i see a lot of 1 star because people expect fine dining and first class service. For 12⁄20 $ lunch/dinner, its pretty good. My advice at sushi restaurants in bklyn: Avoid raw fish in lower end sushi place. The only place i eat raw and i eat a lot in brooklyn, is longevious joy. And i go there more than any body in brooklyn. And i havent got sick yet. I will be reviewing that soon.

I don’t understand why the reviews for this place are so low. This is my favorite ayce sushi place in Brooklyn. I know one of the main issues is the quality or freshness of the sushi. But, you have to realize that this is an all you can eat sushi place(I think it is 12.75 for lunch!). They can’t serve you the best quality fish or else they would run out of business. It is just not feasible. If you want great quality sushi, then do not go to an all you can eat place especially one that is so cheap. The appetizers are great and varied. I like the udon, cheese wontons, tempura, chashu sushi and etc. Shown is the death bomb roll. It is heavy since the whole sushi roll is fried but I like it. Don’t get it if you don’t like cream cheese because it has cream cheese inside.

Now I think we all get that freshness is not one of the priorities for all you can eat(ayce) sushi restaurants. With that being in mind, I decided to try this spot out for an early lunch with my family. Right when we walked in, we were«greeted» by one of the waitresses, no welcoming smile, she just grabbed the menus and seated us. The music playlist was Top 40 Hip hop/Rap, I love hip hop but I dont think it suits the sushi ambiance quite well, especially with lyrics talking about getting big booty. The décor however is consoling, I love how they stick to a woody design. The woods on the floor, matches with the tables, the walls, even the ceiling! I appreciate when restaurants take deep thought into little things like that. Despite the off starting, we ordered our food. The sushi obviously wasnt spectacular but I like it for an ayce spot. However certain dishes got my questioning the actual description of the food. The spring rolls for example, the skin was crispy and had a perfect exterior bite to it, BUT the inside was all gooey and wet. My uncle said thats what happens when you freeze certain foods for a long time. And the crab ragoon appetizer, why is it called crab ragoon when theres no crab in it?! It was stuffed with melted cream cheese, no meat whatsoever. The food here is edible, and is worthy of trying again. But the girls working here need some uplifting moods, their monotone face makes me feel uncomfortable to stay and relax with my family. Also the music playlist needs to change, my grandma does not need to listen to any cuss words when shes eating.

My fam and I came in on a Sunday at almost 2. There was one empty table left but the hostess said that it was reserved and it would be a 15 – 20 minute wait. So she took our phone number and said she could call us when the next table is ready. Ok fine. So we walked around the area for about 20 minutes and still didn’t get a call. We decided to just head back over and check it out. So we go back there and there were three empty tables, and she never bothered to call us. And we were seated at the same table that she said was reserved. Annoying, but alright, fine — onto the food. You take a menu and fill out the quantity of whichever items you want. Some items take a really long time to come out. Like half an hour or so. Which isn’t really the point of an AYCE, is it? We ordered shrimp tempura on our first menu. We already finished the food from our second menu and still no sign of the shrimp tempura from the first round. Then, the waiter brought out the kani salad and seaweed salad. I guess he forgot to mark it down because 10 minutes later, he brings out the same two dishes. So we told him we didn’t want it because we already got it earlier(and never made a second order of it). And he has the nerve to ask if we’re sure we got it, as if we were lying to him about it! On the plus side, sushi seemed to come out pretty quickly. It was just the kitchen items that were a pain to order. So maybe they just need more people in the back. Lunch is $ 11.95 and dinner is $ 19.95. Everything was just okay but what do you expect for $ 12? I wouldn’t say the service is bad. I just think they need a better system of how they’re keeping track of all the items. The waiters always seem like they’re confused. Once they get that sorted out, I might be willing to give lunch another try.

I should have listened to my brother(who has been here for dinner twice and lunch once) and avoided this place. My curiosity and hunger got the better of me. Besides, I had to test it out for myself and fellow Unilocalers. So it’s bad. Like really bad. Like I came with low expectations and was STILL disappointed. Everything is cold: shrimp tempura is cold, the tea is lukewarm at best. Vegetable tempura was hot because it’s not popular and they didn’t make it for standby. It’s truly impressive how thinly they slice the fish here. Yes, even the pieces on nigiri are super thin. such that you can see through them and count the individual grains of rice underneath. And why is everything served on these giant plates/wooden planks when the table is so small? Twice, they served one piece of uni at a time on its individual wooden plank. The sushi is just so subpar. Everything is offered fried/tempura or spicy, which just tells me the fish is not fresh. Surprisingly the stir-fry udon was actually quite good. No wonder the couple next to me got four orders of it! The downside… it takes about 20 minutes(maybe more?) to make an order. I actually wish they weren’t AYCE, it really brings the quality down. I’m more than happy to pay for a la carte, if it’s decent. I really hope they step it up and do something about this.
