Many months after Siggy’s closing, I’m still lamenting the loss of GREAT food in Brooklyn Heights. There is no place here like it. I know I am not alone in my hope that Siggy’s finds a way to return to Brooklyn Heights! Please come back! Thank you.

I went there for brunch this weekend with a friend and ordered the Green Alien Quencher smoothie and the breakfast burrito. I was so pleasantly surprised with how much I loved both! I’m not known for being a health food person-far from it, but both of these were so good and our service was excellent! Definitely recommend this place for brunch if you’re ever in the neighborhood, or just go in an grab a smoothie and/or juice because that green one was AWESOME!!!

Parsley hummus — the bomb! The hummus was so good. It was as thick as I usually like it but this sort of creamy was pretty good. There was also streaks of olive oil and a small serving of olive oil on the side. I double dipped of course and even though they don’t toast the bread, the hummus made up for it. Black bean cake — imagine a miniature black bean burger. Never had one? Imagine black beans stuck together with seasoning. Quinoa and Spinach cake — imagine a quinoa burger. Never had one? It doesn’t have that starchy feel like rice does. It’s lighter and sticks to each other like rice. It’s not salty or sweet. The toppings give it flavor otherwise it would be plain. Veggie burger — the patty was mushy and the bun was so crispy! I can’t say the burger was that great but it wasn’t bad. They put a lot of onions in the middle so I suggest rearranging the burger before eating it. Eggplant lasagna — the best lasagna without carbs! They give you a good amount of tomato sauce for the dish. I initially thought it was too much but I portioned it out precisely per usual. It’s not too cheesy and all the veggies balanced with each other. Organic cider beer — I’m usually not a fan of beer but this wasn’t so bad. I’ve had a good share of ciders now since my significant other is addicted. All I think about is the calories and sugar in a drink vs food. This place is small. You’ll feel cramped. The food speed was rather impressive.

Cute tiny spot(bad for parking) in downtown brooklyn — very popular so it gets very crowded. I got the salmon burger with the side of sweet potatoes(added $ 4). I ate it sans the bread and was full and very satisfied at the end of my meal. Reason this isn’t a 5 star — we originally walked in for pumpkin pie after reading on Unilocal they made a mean pie. We specifically stated what we were there for but by the end of our meal when it came time to order the pie she informed us that they were out /had sold the last pieces to diners while we were dining! We only sat down to eat in this restaurant because of the pie, so that was kind of weird. Although I can’t complain too much because we both enjoyed our meal(we got the same thing). I love that there are so many vegan, gluten free options and they also have a good selection of gluten free /vegan sweets

Had an awesome dinner with my boyfriend here. We both had a burger, though mine was over salad. Super yummy and nice atmosphere. The waiters are extremely friendly too.

I came here with a friend after walking over the bridge. The place is a bit small, but it can fit a lot of people. I ordered the salmon burger, because that’s what pretty much everyone recommended on Unilocal. The waiter informed me that there were no avocados, and the price would not be adjusted. Fine… I got it anyway. It was very underwhelming. I don’t know if the avocado would have made a difference(it may have since I love avocados). The food was just okay. I saw many other people getting non-sandwiches, which made me think I made the wrong choice. Sadly I’ll never find out because I will not be back. My major annoyance is the service. We finished our meals and the waiter took everything off our table. I figured he was going to get our check since he didn’t ask about dessert. Five minutes later, a waitress comes and ask if we were done. I said yes and asked for the check. A minute later we get our bill and we pay with our cards. The first waiter comes back and asks if we want dessert… Yeah, no thanks.

Everywhere in the area was packed due to the Dumbo Art Festival, but we thought we would try at Siggy’s Good Food. The server graciously took our name, and was realistic with the time wait which we appreciated. They managed to turn a two person outside table into three which was nice. I would suggest sitting outside if possible, it had a better vibe then inside. Our waiter was very attentive and got us a glass of wine and the parsley hummus plate(amazing!) very quick which was great for three hungry people. The menu has great vegan and gluten free options, we ended up going with the turkey burger, beef ragu, and lasagna and were happy with all of them. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area that wants healthy food options at a good price.

Went there during a cold winter’s day, and the freezing walk was well worth it. The stance they take on food and providing meals is one I truly admire. From what I recall, food was very good. Would definitely cross the bridge to have brunch there again.

Definitely love this place. The vibe when you walk in is pleasant and the food makes you feel gooood. I’ve only done brunch here, but it’s awesome. The selection is fresh, healthy, and so so tasty. They’ve got an amazing smoothie menu as well. The almond protein, the berry blitz, the alien juice one — all sooo good and made by the resident smoothie mixologist. Excellenttt. My mom and I split the farmer’s omlet — to die for. Goat cheese filling? Yes, please. Gluten free toast? Yah, I’ll take that. Homefriessss??? YES. Check it out if you want alien food that tastes good and makes you feel gooood.

I first heard about this place, when their owner, Siggy, competed on an episode of Chopped. On that episode, she made this delicious-looking, heartwarming Moroccan Lamb Heart Stew, no pun intended. I can see that the quality of food she made on that show translates into the food served at this restaurant. As advertised, the food is healthy and organic, slightly on the pricier side that you expect from these kind of restaurants and cafes but not too detrimental to the pocket. We came on a hot Saturday afternoon around 2pm. Even well after the lunch rush hour, there was still a wait. The restaurant is a very small space with a few outdoor tables, only two of which have sun umbrellas. I’m not sure if they have A/C because the inside felt kind of hot and stuffy as well, but that made our drinks taste all the better. One thing to note, on weekends they serve their brunch menu only, so some items will not be served. Also no ½ lunch, ½ soup on weekends. Smoothies: Hydrating Watermelon Quencher — This was super refreshing and nothing but watermelon in here. It really does quench your thirst so highly recommended if you are dehydrated. Green Alien Quencher(Cucumbers, Kale Leaves, Mint, Pineapples & Orange Juice) — Very herbaceous. I am not into these green colored drinks, it certainly tastes very energizing and healthy. I would probably live longer if I had this drink everyday. Berry Buzz(Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Banana & Cranberry Juice) — One of the more classic smoothies, but tastes as great as the other ones if a little less interesting. Dishes: Lentil Garlic Soup — Despite the unbearably hot day, I still enjoyed this soup. It had a full-bodied, hearty flavor and a good amount of garlic. This is a good choice if you want something lighter but filling. Vegetable Sandwich(Avocado, Cucumbers, Clover Sprouts, Carrots, Greens & Homemade Parsley Hummus) — Not too impressed with this sandwich. It’s literally just a bunch of greens on a piece of bread with a spread of hummus. Even with the hummus the sandwich was a bit dry and hard to get down. Quinoa Spinach Cake(Baked and topped with Fresh Tomato, Pepper, Cilantro Salsa) — I loved the salsa, but not so much the actual cake. Without the salsa, it was kind of bland and needed some more salt. It also had a somewhat mealy texture and kind of fell apart when you cut it with your fork. Salmon Burger(Avocado, Lettuce & Vegan Mayo) — I only had a bite of this but this was hands down the best thing that was ordered. As advertised it has no fillers and is perfectly seasoned. What a perfect salmon-y bite. The side of roasted herb potatoes was also amazing. Crispy and nicely salted. Definitely checking out their Manhattan location next time. Next things to try: Steak Sandwich, Parsley Hummus, and Black Bean Sweet Potato Cakes

I could easily eat here… every…day…ever. It’s a cozy little restaurant with nice patio seating in Brooklyn Heights. You must start with a juice… it’s just too good not to have one(or four). Hubs and I each had a Sweet Something and would highly recommend it even if you’re not big into juicing. The parsley hummus was even better than expected — very fresh! Hubs went with the renowned salmon burger, and I ventured out to a tuna salad wrap. I’d go with the burger if I ate there again, but the wrap was refreshing nonetheless. Excellent food quality; we would absolutely go back! They also have a location in NoHo.

Ordered: black bean sweet potato cakes to start, garden veggie sandwich on ciabatta and a 20 ounce Energy Rocket juice(organic greens, wheat grass shot, celery and apple). Ambiance: quaint, unassuming, eclectic mix of pre-90s tunes with a hippie/raggae/health-conscious stoner feel. There is a small counter directly when you enter the restaurant behind which you’ll find a small espresso machine, a serious Blendtec blender and a large juicing machine. There is a large drink list above the counter that has a variety of fresh juice and smoothie options. As you might expect there is a large 2′ by 2′ patch of bright green wheatgrass which you can get juiced straight or put right into your juice or smoothie. The inside seating seats maybe 25 or so and there is some outside seating that seats 10 – 15. Food: the bean cakes were flavorful — hearty, spicy and just moist enough. Topped with salsa. A good starter, although at $ 8 for two medium sized cakes I thought it was a bit expensive. The Energy Rocket juice tasted fresh and had just enough apple juice to subdue the hardcore vegetable taste you get in some other green juices. The juice came in a 20 ounce glass and cost $ 8.50. Pricey. The garden veggie sandwich was good. All of the vegetables(sprouts, avocado spread, cucumbers, carrots, spring mix and parsley hummus) were fresh and crisp and the ciabatta hero was perfectly toasted. The sandwich did not come with a side. $ 10.50. Cost: See Food section(above). This place is a bit on the pricey side. However, my theory is that I am willing to pay a premium for food that is healthy, tasty and fresh — so don’t let the prices scare you off. This place is worth visiting. Tip: the juice is really good if you like that sort of thing, but if you are on the fence skip it. $ 7 – 8 for a big glass of juice is expensive and may not meet some peoples’ price expectations. The sandwich I had was just big enough, but I would have needed a side if I didn’t eat the bean cakes as an appetizer. Consider ordering a side if you skip an appetizer. Summary: good little spot. I will definitely come back here. The moderately high prices will prohibit me from coming here regularly but I could see myself visiting once or twice a month to get a nice infusion of high-quality health food.

I guess this review is solely for the Mac and cheese because I got a take out order of that. It’s probably the cheesiest mac and cheese you’ll eat, very rich and filling. No complaints, can’t wait to go back for a sit down dinner to taste something else.

I am on a really strict diet for health reasons: no gluten or dairy and limited sugar. I was amazed and extremely excited to eat here because they had so many options for me to eat! I started with the spinach and quinoa cakes. They were amazing! I could’ve eaten at least 2 more orders! I then had a burger with soy cheese and vegan mayo on a gluten-free bun. The burger was juicy and delicious. I would go back here tomorrow if I could!

Went for lunch today. It is super cozy, I felt like I was in someone’s house. The staff was freindly and made some suggestions. I got a beef burger and my friend got the wild samon burger, so good. The food is healthy and organic and the flavor in the burger was amazing. I definitely recommend, and will be going back because everything I saw come out of the kitchen looked amazing.

This place gets a happy +1 from me for serving a menu that’s vegetarian-friendly and heavy on the hippie meats. For example, most or all of the beef options come with grass-fed beef. I had a burger with cheddar, avocado, and bacon, and a side of sweet potatoes. It wasn’t the best burger I’d ever had, but I liked it, and I liked the look of the rest of the menu: they’ve got salads, sandwiches, burgers(salmon, veg, beef, turkey), and entrees ranging from mac & cheese to beef stew to a few pasta dishes. In short, a menu of homey, unpretentious, «American» food, made with the organic/green/hippie ingredients. For dessert we had a home-made chocolate chip cookie – which was a bit too hard and crystally but tasty anyway – and a gluten-free raspberry tart type thing that was delicious. They have a nice little menu of organic beers & wines. I’d go back.

I am very happy to live 1.5 blocks from here. So far, I have tried a smoothie, brownie, and salad. The Coco peanut brain smoothie was very tasty, not too sweet like Juice Generation can be. The brownie was delicious and didn’t upset my stomach. I got a mixed green salad with avocado, parmesan, and turkey bacon. Very simple but very delicious. Not too expensive either and is open for a decent amount of time. I will be frequenting this place, whether to get a smoothie to go or to have dinner with friends. UPDATE: I have tried more foods here. Eggplant lasagne: I can see how people would like it but not my thing personally, I have never liked eggplant or vegan cheese much but I still had to try. Meh. Macaroni: Cheese wasn’t sharp enough for my taste Pasta w/tomato sauce: Good but not the best pasta I’ve ever had Beef burger on top of lettuce w/avocado and parmesan: Excellent. Very flavorful and fresh. Stick with meats, vegetables, smoothies. Go elsewhere for carbohydrates.

Siggy’s is not only all about the good food but apparently it’s also good for you too. I believe that’s what we call a win-win. Boasting comfort food of the organic and vegan friendly kind, this Brooklyn Heights gem was one of my BK go-tos during my bout with veganism(#1). It’s not a huge spot or anything, but the kind of quaint, quintessential neighborhood spot that actually works for any appetite, even ones that are gluten free. Their magic burgers($ 10) are definitely tasty. By magic, I mean everything from their organic, grass fed beef burgers to their wild salmon. The turkey burger is the winner for me, despite the miniscule buns and size of the patty. Add cheese($ 1) and a salad($ 3.50), and despite the semi-pricey platter, know the eats are definitely quality. Want a spin on an otherwise unhealthy meal? Shoot for the vegan lasagna($ 14). Sheets of roasted eggplant with various other veggie layers, filled with tofu ricotta, some soy cheeses, and a homemade tomato sauce makes for a damn good choice if I do say so myself. It is filling, light, and a fabulous alternative to the real thing. Though I’m not a huge fan of their macaroni and cheese($ 11), I’m really down for their artichokes and garlic herb penne pasta($ 14). Fresh, aromatic, and with lots of great texture, it was straight bangin’(#2). I just wish the modest sized bowl was larger than my already giant head. I would also vote the same for their beef ragu pasta bowl($ 16). There is nothing like tender chunks of clean beef to tickle my tastebuds with a fresh pasta to boot. Finally stick with the quinoa, spinach cakes($ 8) for appetizers. Sides will vary with the main items, but I like the sauteed garlic kale($ 6) the most. Come with a group of friends who aren’t feeling like joining the obesity epidemic by checking out Siggy’s. Don’t feel like going to Brooklyn? Here’s some good news: Siggy’s is now available in Manhattan!( ) _________ (#1) Yes, it was a struggle … I lived. Then I ate bacon again and I smiled. (#2) Local lingo. Don’t hate.
