Sooooo good. Favorite dinner dishes include: lentil burger, pesto pizza, lasagna, and tofu scramble. Presentation isn’t their strong suit, but the food is delicious.

The few times I’ve gone here I’m thrilled for the über hippy, gf, vegan options. You enter to a sunny spot with a long wooden community table and a kind greeting from an equally sunny server. And yet. I can never get comfortable here for some reason. No matter, the food’s the thing. The food is good. I’ve gone for the platters and your plate is colorful and ranges from beans, to rice to veggies with the all important(and most tasty) dressing. Then I remember, I’ve never really had a truly scrumptious and satisfying meal here either– but it’s good — just not 20 total for lunch good. It certainly satisfies the dietary needs but not the palates. The coffee however blew me away, and some time ago I did try a smoothie that was memorable. It isn’t a cheap lunch either. I paid 20 for a platter and a cup of joe after tax and tip. I’m sure I’ll go back for the coffee and smoothies.

Delicious food and great service. I came across this place on my extended weekend trip to NY. Love the variety of treats. The mushroom bacon is divine. And I love the fresh juice selection. I only minused a star bc soy is to dominate in the food and I am allergic.

My first Brunch at Sun in Bloom was on New Year’s day. As someone who does not need to eat gluten free or vegan, it’s rare that I find myself in such an establishment. And I have no regrets about it. We started off the morning with some drinks. I had the green juice, which was delicious and refreshing. Other thing we had on the table were an Brazilian nut milk mocha. It was… nuttalicious. While the brunch order was being prepared, we had avocado toast, and a bowl of granola that I absolutely enjoyed. What surprised me was that the bread was delicious. It is tough finding a yummy gluten free bread that hits the right notes with texture and flavor, but this one was really good. Aimee’s magic shines through every single dish that turned up on our table. I had the Ruben sandwich with avocado. The sandwich was nicely assembled combination of tempeh, saurkaut and salad. I added an avocado to it just there is no way it wouldn’t become better that way. :P My friends had Chef’s Aimee’s Salad. The crunchiness of the pumpkin seeds complete the experience in every bite. The dessert was decadent. We had the cookie sandwich, and a chocolate pie that I forget the name of, and a fresh baked chocolate banana bread(again, gluten free, but so delicious!). Check this place out next time you’re in the area. Even if you don’t do the gluten free and/or vegan lifestyle, I’d go here just for the juices alone!

To put it simply. I like the food but the service sucks. We were the only people waiting for a table, a table freed up, but over 5 min passed and we were not offered to sit. We ended up taking ourselves to the table. When a waitress finally decided to come take our order she made us feel like she was annoyed she had to do it. Not a welcoming experience and made us not want to come back.

Crazy overpriced for bland food. They charged(a lot) for every condiment & don’t seem to use spices or seasoning. I’m begging you to never go here.

Really excited about finding parking in front of this place. Once inside I decided on take out. Cute little place to dine inside. Restroom available although it is very tiny! Pretty good menu offering raw and cooked vegan food. I decided on the sunrise scramble which has ginger miso tofu, collards, beans, and brown rice. I also opted for a bean/chili soup for $ 9.50. My sweet tooth wouldn’t let me pass up the raw key-lime cheesecake. So, the verdict… I wasn’t a fan of the sunrise scramble! The ginger did not stand out as I wondered if it was included at all! The soup was ok but I wasn’t a fan of the take out container. It was a plastic container with a plastic lid. Similar to the plastic containers the laundromat would give you when you got $ 20.00 worth of change for your laundry. That was back in the day before the laundry cards. I just felt like the hot soup would surely melt the plastic. Come on! This is a vegetarian/vegan place and they don’t have proper take out containers!!! I went back in the restaurant and asked if they could give me something else to store the soup in and they gave me a «to-go» coffee cup. No problem! The cheesecake was forgettable. I guess I was expecting more from this place, sorry. Although the girl who helped me was super helpful, I will probably not return.

So good. Just go if you’re into vegan/raw heathy food. I got the BLT and it was super great. I added avocado and I recommend it. I also tried the kale chips and they were good to. Kind of pricey but a must try for all vegans and vegetarians. During my stay in NYC, 2 people told me to try the breakfast burrito but I unfortunately could not.

Sun In Bloom is a vegan and gluten free establishment that has made my tummy quite happy. The food here is blooming amazing, but I wish the portions were more wholesome; I felt as if I didn’t get enough food for the price I paid. Upon sitting down here, I felt a bit happier, maybe it was due to the greeting on the menu or even the pretty yellow flowers in mason jars on our table? Anyways, I ordered the Western Burrito, but instead of a burrito, I requested the collard green wrap, instead. You can also get this in the form of a salad if you’re not interested in messy hand work. The western burrito is gluten free, vegan, and«raw», consisting of zesty sunflower seed pâté, fresh salsa, avocado, zucchini and cabbage in our live sunflower dill dressing served in your choice of sprouted wheat wrap, collard green wrap($ 10.50). The flavors were amazing and enjoyable to consume! My friend ordered the gluten free chocolate chip pancakes with maple syrup($ 12.50), it’s($ 1) extra for chocolate chips added in the pancakes($ 11.50 + $ 1 = $ 12.50). The meal consisted of three pancakes with caramelized bananas and strawberries, spiced germinated walnuts & side of maple syrup. The desserts here look spectacular and I would definitely be interested in coming back to try them out! Remember to check in on Unilocal to receive your free cookie; choice of chocolate chip or oatmeal and raisin. The oatmeal and raisin was chewy and yummy!

Had the hearty macro bowl, spicy lemonade, and a chocolate chip cookie to go. Very friendly service, a nicely diverse menu, and well prepared, tasty food. Next time I’m in NYC, I’m visiting!

Long time vegan, this place is fantastic. Got the bowl; delicious. Slightly over-priced for what it is, but recommended nonetheless.

I am a long time vegan and have had my fair share of amazing vegan food at different restaurants in NYC. I’ve been dying to try sun in bloom so I was very excited when my husband and I went. The place looked nice and the staff were very nice. But the food was so disappointing. I ordered the raw burger and my husband ordered a burrito. The food came out in less than 5 minutes. 5 minutes! I don’t like waiting long for food, but 5 minutes feels rushed. Like they gave the food made up in the back and just pop it in the microwave before serving it. I like a little time to sit and enjoy myself before the food comes. Anyway, my burger was small and not very tasty. I was very disappointed. My husband liked his burrito but didn’t think it was worth the price. I thought it tastes bland. We were so disappointed that we left and went to peacefood café for chickpea fries and dessert. Lol. I wouldn’t go back.

Resto vegan. A recommander!!!

I would have never eaten at a vegan restaurant — also would have never ordered Chia seed breakfast ‘porridge’ but I did and it was awesome. The caveat is that the porridge is cold, which to me is kind of counter-intuitive, but this place will be on the rotation nonetheless as it is a good place to come for a healthy, mix-it-up meal. Portions are SMALL, but its a vegan place, I feel like all vegan places cook food in a shrink-ray — what do you expect to be left over once you remove the meat, eggs, dairy, fat, etc?

Vegan/vegetarian food is absolutely delicious and often packed with more flavor than your average meat-including fare. I’d biked past Sun in Bloom so many times and wanted to pop in but didn’t get a chance until about two weeks ago. When I finally went I was so absolutely let down I had to ask for a meal comp for a portion of my meal. I ordered the Avocado Toast($ 7), and received literally ONE piece of bread with a quarter of avocado spread on it and some pepper flakes. Which is fine, if I was at home making myself a snack, but not OK when it costs more than… IDK $ 2? thats how much I would price that at. I was outraged, but I thought OK! Maybe something else will be worthwhile. I ordered one of the soups of the day. I thought — Soup! They will redeem themselves… No. I ordered the soup and it had NO taste whatsoever. Literally it tasted like water with some veggies floating in it. Don’t get me wrong, soup doesnt need to be hella salty and have a ton of stuff in it, but it does need to have SOME kind of flavor. OR if the goal is to cleanse the palate, thats fine as well, but that was not how the soup was advertised. I asked for the soup to be comped and promptly left. I’m sure this was just the worst possible things to order on the menu on the worst possible day, but still I will not be going back.

In my top 5 favorite vegan restaurants in NYC. I’ve been coming here since they’ve opened and my favorite meal is the Bella Divine. It features avocado, kimchee and kale. It’s regal as a salad or in a raw collard wrap. The only reason why I didn’t give it five stars is because the bathroom is super small.

Came here for lunch on a week day and it was busy. The place is rather small but feels really clean and vibrant. We started with rosemary Dijon kale chips then I had the raw salad and my sister got the burger wrapped in collard greens. We were served very fast and the food was delicious! Our waiter was really nice too. Big plus: you pay for what you get, meaning this is very affordable compared to so many vegan places in the city. Thank you for that!

I am not gluten free or a vegan, nor am I actually sure what«live» food is.(In fact, I find the concept of «live granola» to be a bit disconcerting). However…the food here is really good. I was hoodwinked into coming here for breakfast and expected some tasteless hippie stuff, but quite the opposite: the GF pancakes, accompanied by caramelized apples and real maple syrup, were straight up delicious. My girlfriend had the aforementioned live granola with coconut kefir, and it was equally enticing. You might call me a potential convert, except for two things: a) HOWDOPEOPLENOTNAMEDGWYNETHPALTROWEATLIKETHISALLTHETIME? Most items on the menu are twice as expensive as you would find at other places. As good as the pancakes were, I’ll stick to an $ 8 plate of heaven at Café Luluc most days. b) Is it that offensive to have dairy to put in coffee? That kills me. In short: don’t be afraid to come here if you’re a non-vegan/GF like me, but don’t anticipate making it a habit either.

A clean, bright vegan/gluten free/raw foods spot. The white tile walls gleam in the kitchen prep area, and there are cosy tables and a big, wooden community table. It reminds me of a tidier version of the beloved Angelika Kitchen. I recommend: The gingerade, a tart and bright drink made with ginger juice, lemon, and agave syrup, served in a mason jar. The hearty macro bowl, a take on Angelika’s dragon bowl, with rice, beans, scant slices of tempeh, a heaping pile of perfectly steamed kale, roasted squash, fresh seaweed, and very flavorful housemade sauerkraut, served with a creamy sesame dressing. Everything on the plate is delicious, except the dry, overcooked black beans. The shitake bacon BLT, so smokey and delicious! The«Rueben» special: tempeh, creamy«live» Russian dressing, housemade sauerkraut, and definitely add avocado. Both«sandwiches» can be ordered with sprouted wheat bread, or, for a gluten free option, wrapped in collard greens like a healthy burrito. Both sandwiches are served with a small, unexciting salad and delicious sweet potato fries(these, again, are inconsistent: my girlfriend’s were almost raw, most of mine were perfectly baked, but served cold). For dessert, the chocolate cashew mousse(disappointingly served in a small plastic cup). But the rich, creamy flavor is filling and amazing. The gluten free rosemary biscuit is delicious. The chia seed almond«mylk» porridge, served with spiced walnuts and fresh fruit, is good. Skip: The chili. Very runny, and undercooked beans. The bathroom. It is unbelievably tiny, but it may encourage you to eat here more often so you can fit in it. This is the kind of food that makes you feel clean and energized after eating it. If it wasn’t a bit pricier than I’d like, I’d be here all the time! The waitstaff are very friendly.

Two of my girlfriends have a few dietary restrictions so we have made it a tradition to check out a new vegetarian/vegan spot for each of our birthday celebrations(almost 26, booooo). Honestly(and I feel like I may have said this previously) I don’t know why I don’t go to vegetarian spots more often — all the spots that we’ve discovered have been damn good! Sun in Bloom, included. We arrived fairly early, roughly 6pm and had our pick for a table. We started off with the sesame ginger kale chips and hummus plate, which were both brought out promptly. I have never eaten a kale chip and these particular ones looked like old, dried spring leaves but they were delicious and packed with flavor. The hummus plate was also delightful! I have never had hummus quite like what was served here — it was runnier; not as creamy but tasted so fresh and had the perfect blend of seasoning worked into it. I split the bloom burger and shitake bacon blt with one of my girlfriends. The blt had the most flavorful ‘bacon’ — it was so smoky and paired well with the generous slather of almond mayo, ripe tomatoes and crisp romaine. The bloom burger was also wonderful — there were so many textures going on – juicy tomato, crunchy cabbage, fresh basil and a well seasoned LIVE burger patty — a total flavor bomb. We opted to not add avocado but I think I would have enjoyed the extra creamy component. Next time! I would order either of these entrees again. For dessert, we split 3 desserts(chocolate chip cookie sandwich, chocolate mousse and key lime cheesecake), plus the chocolate chip cookie from checking in. For being gluten, dairy, egg, wheat and casein free(not quite sure what that is, even), these were some pretty good desserts. My favorite was definitely the chocolate chip cookie sandwich, with a tofutti filling. The cookies were surprisingly moist and the filling was mildly sweet. The key lime cheesecake had a very distinct lime taste and was decent, although along with the mousse — I didn’t like the texture too much — I’d describe it similiar to a cold stick of butter, eeep. Service was just fine and prices are decent — it came out to $ 66 before tip. Overall, solid meal and definitely somewhere I would come to again. All of their breakfast and smoothie options sound so delicious! Wonderful find in Park Slope.
