I had my birthday celebration with a large party this Saturday and Surf Bar could not have been more accommodating! Lisa and our waiter went out of their way to make sure our party was satisfied and drinks were very fresh and reasonably priced. Not the mention the location and ambience is awesome. Can’t wait to go back!

What a cool bar! I feel like I stepped into a beach bar in Belize with the sand on the floor, nice décor and chill music. Solid menu and great drinks!

This is such a quaint little dive bar! The atmosphere is so beachy, there’s even sand on the floor. The walls are lined with flowers and old pictures, and the ceilings are lined with actual surf boards! It’s right off my N6th which is a busy street, so on weekends the place has a lot of people coming and going. It’s a rather small place, so while it’s perfect for two or three, anticipate a little bit of wait for a group of 6 or more. The place is not air conditioned, but there is ample outdoor seating through an entryway out back, and a few tables out front. This is definitely the place to come for good old Hawaiian vibes!

The East Coast weather makes you love a place like this… Tiki bar with a sand floor and tropical drinks in a tacky as hell plastic coconut shells! Perfect! Food and service has been slightly inconsistent, but I’ll be back.

The only reason I’m giving it one star was cause the food was good. Otherwise I would give it none! Im a food a junkie and i do a lot of traveling for new and exciting food. However, i came to this place for a friends birthday, and the service was terrible. We advised the guy at the door and our waiter that we would be having a party of 10 or more. They decided to tell us that as the party comes in they will accommodate us. Not the brightest idea. So we mention this more than once, they tell us they have a big table they can move us to, but wanted us to wait for everyone else. As soon as most of us get there, their big table all of a sudden is reserved and is only seating 6 people compared to our 13. They could have easily switched us since our«put together» tables did not fit us all and had a lot of us STANDINGUP the whole time. Ridiculous! They had enough room in the front to shift people over but apparently our waiter didn’t think it was necessary. Speaking of the waiter; I personally got there before the next 10 people from our party did, he did not place my food order until everyone got there because it was«easier for him to do it that way». Lol. He would come to the back, ask is everything is ok, in the middle of me explaining what i want he would say«give me one second i’ll be right back with some water and your drinks» but would not come back until 15−20min later, this place was not packed out. Anyway, these people dont want to split checks because its easier for them not to, you cant switch your sides from different meals because according to the waiter«the chef gets upset when you mix and match different plates.» I wont ever recommend anyone to celebrate a birthday here, maybe a date but thats about it. Probably the worst customer service in Williamsburg that I have ever experienced. Not to mention the bus boys not knowing who ordered what and just yelling everyones order in a tone we could barely understand. I ate my food and left early to search for another place due to having my friends standing up watching the rest of us eat because they did not accommodate us as we asked prior to the situation escalating. 1STARFORYOU, Williamsburg is full of great customer service but your restaurant is not one. Thank you.

Where do I start? We arrived at exactly 955. We received our food at 1052. Damn near a whole hour. I watched people who walked in 20 minutes after I did sit and eat. My steak was so plain. No flavor your better off going to Applebee’s or eating a steak hungry man tv diner. The waitress was new however, her attitude was like this«do you guys want to leave or wait the two minutes for your food». After we asked to speak to the manager. We came here honestly because the wait at sea was 45 min to 1 hour. Here’s some advise. Don’t eat here don’t waste your time and money.

Sticking out like a sore thumb in Hipsterville, aka Williamsburg – it’s hard to miss this palm frond covered tiki themed establishment. You’re transported to another world the second you walk in. From walking on sand, wall decorations everywhere and Mai Tais, it’s a great place to escape when outside is 32 degrees. Ordered a giant fish burrito, $ 14.00 and Sex on a Rockaway Beach, $ 9.00. Burrito was STUFFED with cabbage, cheese, tomato onions, and good enough given we are not in So-Cal. It also came with three different sauces, which I definitely smothered over my food. On a quiet Monday night, the waiter was very attentive on taking orders and checking on us throughout the night. We sat in the back of the restaurant in a patio area– which might be uncovered during the summertime. I will add the tables here were quite unstable on top of the sand– which could be embarrassing should a klutz like me have one too many drinks. Careful on those Mai Tais now.

Cool bar with great strong Margaritas! They have happy hour from 5 – 7 with $ 5 margaritas!

So, the place is covered in sand! It definitely takes you away from the city atmosphere and into some tropical wonderland as a real tiki bar should. This place is definitely one of a kind, I love stopping by here for a zombie and some shrimp tacos. I’ve also had the tuna salad and Mai Tais and they were both amaziiiiing. Been here a couple of times during the summer last year, planning on stopping by soon again. Can’t wait to go back now that it’s cold out, haha.

Cute little place, makes you feel like you’re down south. Unfortunately the bartenders aren’t too social or personal but the drinks were strong and amazing. I order the mojito blueberry and my boyfriend who normally just orders beer or jack and Coke liked it so much he ordered one too!

How can you turn down a tropical tiki bar with sand on the floor when it’s cold out? We had the Fogcutter & frozen mudslide — both are dangerous because you can’t taste the alcohol but they are in it. The chips and salsa for $ 5 is a joke — while I expected a small bowl of salsa, instead we got a small 3 partition dish with salsa, sour cream and avocado dip?

2.5 I always come here for the piña coladas. Sadly, the last two times I’ve been there, they have been very bland with little to(what seems like) no alcohol. I came here for a friend’s birthday and decided to try the food. I ordered the shrimp tacos and yuca fries. The food is very bland, with little to no flavor and seasoning. I do not like a lot of salt, but I had to add a lot to my meal. It’s not horrible, but it’s definitely not why I’d recommend Surf Bar to people. Our waitress was dealing with a lot, but she remained cool, calm and collected. She was very nice and attentive, always making sure our table was OK. I will still come back here for the atmosphere and piña coladas because they do taste yummy!

Sand on the floor? When we were told this, I thought there was a little section with a recreated beach or something but no! Literally the whole floor of the restaurant is covered in thick layer of sand. I slipped off my sandals and truly feel like I was sipping mojitos in the tropics. It was warm the day we visited and there is no a/c so it became quite uncomfortable in the tight space of the restaurant. So it truly did feel tropical as we sat there and dripped. We ordered mojitos along with margaritas. The drinks were fair. Nothing to write home about. My daughters lobster roll was heavy on the mayo and served on a store bought hot dog bun. My husbands Fettuccine Alfredo was more of an asparagus oil than cream sauce. However, the fish of my fish and chips was absolutely scrumptious(the fries were typical). Five stars for that delicious platter! Our service was fine… Started off great and then as the restaurant filled up we got a little less attention. But, our server was still very nice and efficient. My biggest complaint is price. This place is neat, the vibe is great, the drinks are creative, food is okay, but it is way overpriced for what they have to offer. Had the quality of the food and cocktails matched the price, this would have been an easy four star rating. With a/c, probably five! Alas, I was truly disappointed with the quality. Overall, neat concept. I’d recommend stopped in for a beer just to see it.

For a different experience go to this dive bar you can get lost in ambiance and forget your in Brooklyn the sand covered floors surf boards along the ceiling are pretty cool. I first had the frozen mojito bc my gf recommended it but it just tasted like frozen mint drink not enough alcohol at all. Ordered the lobster roll didn’t realize it’s a mostly Seafood restaurant and I’m w picky seafood eater but I’ve had my share of lobster rolls and this was pretty weak way too much mayo but it wasn’t bad or anything just if your gonna have too much of something in a lobster roll it should be too much lobster! Before we headed out we had one more drink and we’re recommended a Zombie and wow that really had a kick, great drink that saved the rating to 4 stars but it barely got it.

Came here for a drink with my wife at the weekend. When I used to live in the neighborhood I always walked by but never went in. It was hot outside and I wanted a beer and my wife wanted a tropical drink. Pretty cool inside the floors are all sandy which confused be a little when I first walked in. They have surfboards all along the ceiling and a complete tiki bar vibe. It could have been Miami or the Keys. We sat at the bar and the bar tender was friendly enough. We ordered some fries to snack on and they did take a long time to come! 2 drinks and fries $ 20. Place is laid back and friendly.

We accidentally stumbled into this place after a night of drinking in Brooklyn, and I’m so glad we did. The floor is actually made of sand, the place is decorated like you’re in a beach hut in Hawaii and all of the waitresses are beautiful and look just like Lilo from Lilo & Stitch. Order a drink from their extensive tropical drink list(many come in coconuts or with complimentary little umbrellas) and you’ll feel like you’re on vacation — not in some hipster part of Brooklyn.
