I honestly think this place pays people to write good reviews and Unilocal should investigate. Their sushi is horrible. It’s hard and chewy and definitely not fresh. Service takes way too long and their prices are twice as much as the competition but quality is garbage. Don’t waste your money.

I may love the sushi but there are several issues I had when I made my trip. I went for a grils night out and at the end of the night we were extremely tired and ready to leave after paying we were accidently $ 1 off after adding the tip. The waiter walked a block in order to get the $ 1 for his tip.

Not the warmest welcome from the host/waiter considering we walked in from the snow into an empty room… the sushi chef however did stand up ready to serve us, which we appreciated. The waiter seemed to be rushed due to the constant phone orders coming but he eventually came around to being quite hospitable… what matters most is that the food was DELICIOUS!!!

I am so confused by all the 4 – 5 star reviews on here. Me and my boyfriend decided to go here because we where craving Japanese food and it was close, and had good reviews. This place was mediocre. we had the vegetable tempura, which was okay, the Yasa Gyoza, which was okay, to stat. the décor in the place was very bad, it was just random dusty stuff thrown onto the walls with no rhyme or reason. The lighting was super dark, and not in a sexy, elegant way, more like, the light bulbs where covered in dust. The waiter was super nice though so thats a plus. I ordered the Pad Thai(for some reason), it had wayyy to much sauce on it, not enough egg at all and the noodles where slightly overdone. Honestly the worst pad thai I ever had. Then we ordered Mochi ice cream for dessert, which was literally thrown on teh table straight from some ancient looking freezer that was out front. it looked like they got it from the super market, it was still frozen ROCKSOLID and in a plastic wrapper. can we at least get it thawed out and on a plate??? all in all it was a total waste on money, we didn’t even finish our food.

This is my neighborhood go to sushi place-good food, great prices, and fast delivery. Rolls are not overpowered by rice, sashimi is fresh, and tempura is crispy without being oily. Miso soup is a bit bland but Sushiyami is a great restaurant and we’ve been ordering from here for years. Highly recommended.

I have got to admit, even though the food here is pretty pricey in comparison to many sushi places in Brooklyn, the quality of the food here is pretty high. All the servers are great and know everything about the menu when you ask them questions. Their special rolls are extremely yummy and so is their lobster salad.

Wasnt thrilled. Stopped in here for the first time. My husband and I shared the seafood dynamite appetizer, 2 rolls, and chicken terriyaki. The 2 rolls came, for the price, they werent so big, tasted ok. Then the chicken terriyaki came, it was fine, nothing special… Just as we were finishing they decided to bring the appetizer, yes, after we finished dinner, they brought the appetizer. The only explanation that they could give that we understood was that it takes 15 minutes to cool down… I dont understand why it takes them that time to make this dish and why they have it under appetizer if they have no intentions of serving it as an appetizer. We made a comment to the waitress and all she said was«oh, do you want me to make it to go?» We started to eat it and it wasnt even good, it had a lot of raw onion so that’s about all we tasted. Overall not awful but I probably wouldnt eat here again…

The miso soup was simply salty. Not just my opinion, it’s so salty that is simply a fact for anyone. The service is poor. The lady rushed and was simply rude, it’s simple when someone speaks the other listens and vise versa so we can communicate… they did not. I lived in this neighborhood 7 years, we got food poisoning a few years ago and did not complaint and decided to try again… Major failure. This was the last time I’m going there. Can’t wait for someone to buy this place out! I am writing this review in hopes that the restaurant gets their act together or people are aware to simply not go here and maybe a good new cook/management can take over.

We have been coming here since they’ve opened. We are regulars here. My family loves sushi but I don’t eat raw fish. I’m a picky eater. the owners and chefs are constantly offering new creations so I won’t get bored with the selections.

Sushi did not taste fresh. I ordered a spider roll and there were little pieces in every bit. A little disappointing.

Ordered takeout from here. A bit pricey compared to the other neighborhood Japanese takeout BUT this place is worth the price. Fresh, quality sushi. The salmon was fresh tasting and buttery. The rolls were also very good. The quality and freshness is apparent. Also, they serve real white ginger not the hot pink artificially dyed stuff. Sure sign of quality. My go to sushi spot in southern Brooklyn.

This was actually another really nice sushi spot. The food was good. It was nice and quiet. A little sparse with the décor but all in all I would definitely make it a spot to order from or even go to.

Went here for my sister’s birthday. We were looking for a sushi place close by that would hopefully be «birthday» quality. LOL. When we arrived, we realized the place is in the Keyfood Mall, next door to a rather decent Italian place called La Villa. Anyway, we walked in and the place was rather tiny. I think I counted a total of 8 tables. Two of the tables were pushed together so that we could have a table for 5. The waiter was alright. All the tables wound up getting filled and he was handling all of them. He served us green tea and we ordered hot sake. The green tea was decent and the hot sake was good. I ordered spicy tuna tartar, a River of Flame and a Tornado roll. The spicy tuna tartar was presented in a flower shape and it tasted good, although I think I would have preferred it without the obvious sriracha added. The rolls I ordered were very nice, and one of them was presented in heart shaped pieces. My father was very pleased with the dinner combo he ordered, which is $ 17.95. You’ll notice when you get to the door that there is also a sign for a children’s special, as well. I had green tea ice cream tempura, since it was a day to splurge on sugary substances(yeah!) and it tasted very good. They also provided pineapple chunks and toothpicks afterwards. It was also memorable/pleasing that they offered green apple hardcandies at the register instead of breath mints.

A little pricey but worth it. Always fresh. The fried rice is also good. This is one of the first places that I started ordering takeout sushi from. They have never steered me wrong and for that I’m grateful. No food poisoning, fresh items. Rice is perfect for getting your chopstick on.

I was in the area for business when I heard what I thought was thunder. Nope, just my stomach growling. I immediately consulted my Unilocal app to find a restaurant and after fishing through a bunch of pizza places I came across this place, 2 miles away from me. Perfect. I had been craving sushi all week and put in enough work in the gym to justify the splurge. Who am I kidding? I’m weak for sushi. I was so excited to try the chef specials. My table ordered the Jade roll with kiwi, the valentine roll because… heart shaped sushi! and the Jack roll. I got the clear broth soup and shared the avocado salad. Jade roll definitely stole the show… delicious! The overall atmosphere was great, friendly servers, and the sushi was extremely fresh and delicious. Pretty awesome for such demure exterior.

This is really good quality sushi. The place, the employees and owners, and the food all had class to it. When I first arrived, I thought the place looked very small. In fact, the place can only fit about 15 – 20 customers and the tables fit about 4 – 6. The ambiance was very nice, the lights were dim and the seats were cushioned to feel very comfortable. We were greeted by very friendly hostesses and chefs and were seated immediately. There was another couple who was in the restaurant seated, and they looked very happy. Within a few minutes, the waitress asked us what we would like, and suggested a salad that wasn’t on a menu. That salad turned out to be the best salad I’ve ever had. It was called the Mango Kani Salad. To be honest, I abhor things with fruits in it if it appeals to the umami taste bud. However, this Mango Kani Salad was a genius. The sweetness of the mango completely complimented the Kani Salad. No wonder it wasn’t on the menu, it must be a secret recipe of some sort. Our main course was two salmon handrolls(which my girlfriend says it was the freshest she’s ever had) a phoenix roll, a rainbow roll, a spider roll, and a valentine roll. These special rolls are the best I’ve ever had. The phoenix roll was my favorite and then the spider roll. I wasn’t a big fan of spicy tuna but I still liked the valentine roll, so I give points for making a food I dislike into something I find quite enjoyable. The rainbow roll was okay because it had eel on it and I don’t like eel. No actual negative parts to their sushi. Overall, it must have been the best sushi experience I ever had. We also printed out a voucher for a sizzling summer deal from their website. The deal at that point was 10% off and complimentary dessert which was a scoop of vanilla ice cream each. The owner told us that we didn’t have to print out the deal and instead we could have just pulled it up on our smart phone. Another tip is that they actually have a special roll entrée that comes with soup or salad. If it’s your first time, or if you just didn’t realize, look in the sushi and sashimi entry and you can see it so you won’t spend 10 – 15 bucks on a special roll for like 4 rolls, instead, if you’re eating with another person, you can get 3 rolls and a soup or salad for 29 bucks and maybe 3 regular rolls and soup/salad for another 13. I am definitely coming back for high class sushi.
