I get my lunch from Sybol’s once every Friday. I get two meals in one. The first half is for lunch. And the second half I take home for my dinner. I get the same meal every Friday. They and I call it the usual. And it’s good quality healthy food. I recommend the whole world should eat there. Signed, THEBULL.

They need to get a system going because it was way too hectic… besides that though, I stopped in bc my parents like the food and I was craving curry shrimp with rice and peas without having to travel to east Flatbush. I got fried rice instead with salad and fried plantain and it tastes quite good. The shrimp is a little spicy but that’s what I wanted anyway. Overall this is good Guyanese food which is hard to come by.

Fish roti wrap is amazing, & so are is the wide variety of baked goods — anything with pineapple is incredible — too bad they closed off the old school lunch counter section, though…

I have been coming to this location for years, almost 15 years. But this will be my last time there. The food was so tasteless and off I couldn’t believe that this was the same place from my youth. I threw the majority of it away. I should have known to walk away when I tried to order a goat buss-up. The lady asked what is that? Like a fool I pressed on only to eat some of the most depressing curry ever to pass my lips. I will be looking for a new curry spot when I visit NYC.

OMG — all the pastries are to die for!!! The fish sandwich is the best. I am Guyanese and have tried many bakeries in Little Guyana but all of the Sybil’s Bakery around Brooklyn and Queens are the best with amazing food. I have to say one of my favorite thing is the cheese roll and it is so delicious.

Great restaurant thats been around longer than i can remember. They have great food and wide variety of options to choose from although i feel they could handle the customers better with making sure whoever was there first gets served first.

It was a typical Saturday afternoon of errands. I was passing and decided to give this Church Avenue location a try– horrible mistake. I got two oil roti(buss up shots) and curry chicken, chicken patties, pine tarts and cheese rolls. My god– the roti was horrifying terrible. It was so hard I felt like I was eating a tasteless piece of bread that was left out for weeks. It was hard and disgusting. I thought for sure that my fellow Guyanese would deliver at least a good roti. The curry was okay/not great. However the pastries were awesome– fresh and baked just right with the right flavors, hence the two stars. So if you are looking for great food, please DONOTGOHERE!

I’ve been living in Flatbush my whole life and I’ve never seen this place packed at all. Pretty much every holiday my family have a gathering at my house and we cool tons of food. After hearing great reviews from friends and family about this place my mom would buy roti from here to cut something off her list of things to do. On multiple occasions my family members who ate roti would go home saying they had diarrhea. On another occasion. I came home late from work and wanted something to eat and they were the only place open. I get a couple of patties and head home. As I bite into one of them I notice a huge dead fly inside my patty. I went to talk to a manager and they said no one was there and they can only refund me whatever I brought back to them and not the complete purchase amount. Since then I’ve never been back and have taken my business elsewhere.

No offense to the people that left good reviews on here but I just tried the oxtails and they were the worst I have ever tasted, I couldn’t even finish it. They were dry and lacking in flavor. There is much better food in the neighborhood.

My first foray into Jamaican/Caribbean food I say it was a was pretty good. I like their jerk chicken and rice with peas — very tender, juicy and flavorful. Their meat patties were great — if you get a bite of only crust it’s a bland. but once you have the crust and the filling it just makes sense. Really great and a really good price. No complaints here

Even though I’ve been in Flatbush for a while, didn’t want to trust the Brooklyn Sybil’s because I didn’t want to damage the love that I have for the location on Liberty ave. This is one of the few occasions where a Caribbean Chain is able to get it right. Lots of lunch specials, good curry(and Roti) that’s always well cooked and seasoned just right and a multitude of traditional Guyanese and Trinidadian Snacks and Sweets like Red Mango, Tambrind Balls, Salarah etc. I usually treat myself to something small after stopping next door at the gym. Definitely a place to go when you need a quick Guyanese Food fix, especially now that it’s too damn hot to make Curry in the house.

The food at this authentic West Indian Resteraunt bakery is the best. When fresh the bread is amazing as well they also have a great spread of snacks from back home. Which are great anytime of day. But the kicker is the price very very reasonable. Try this place you will love it the line is long service slow at times but well worth the wait.

Try the smoked herring bake if it’s available. The doubles are fine but not life-changing. The killer app here is the jerk chicken wings, where the spice builds up to a brilliantly fiery crescendo that you might try to douse with a few bites of plantain.

My cousin and I were out and about and she mentioned getting some Guyanese patties. So we went to Sybil’s. Now mind you we went for patties and ended up getting a full meal which was pretty good. Sybil’s is a restaurant and also provides take out. There are two lines. One for pastries and one for hot food. Now if you haven’t been there before you do as most do and form one line. Yeah that’s not the system there. It would be great of they made a sign or hung one above each station to clearly indicate what to do. Because of this, service slows down especially if you haven’t been there before. The regulars know what to do. Anyway so back to the meal. The food was good! Definitely could have been hotter in temperature. I had the macaroni pie and beef short ribs. The macaroni pie was tasty, but seemed to be missing something. It also was a little overcooked. The short ribs were good. Spicy and a tad sweet. Yum! The patties were the BEST! Flaky and delicious. We got chicken and beef. The chicken one reminded me of pot pie minus the creamy sauce. Very good! Those patties will definitely have me going back. The restaurant could have been a bit cleaner. They need to make time to bus the tables because some were sticky. All in all a good experience. I will be back!

Shopping with my daughter on Flatbush, stopped at Sybil’s. I am familiar with the one in Miramar, FL that my cousin and I used to drive 45 minutes to get to just for a craving of macaroni pie. I ordered the jerk chicken and macaroni pie, my daughter had two beef patties. She is quite the patty connoisseur, but she said she’d «never taken so long to eat a patty.» When I asked her if it was bad, she said«No, just different.» She did polish off the both of them. My jerk chicken was definitely too salty, but had the right amount of pepper. The lil girl finished mine off straight to the bone. I was very pleased with the macaroni pie. The service was great. My daughter went to the hand sanitizer and the man behind the counter said it was broken. Another lady behind the counter saw and offered my daughter her own to use. We thought that was very nice. Not a bad price, generous portion, wasn’t a bad meal.

Nice baked goods. The problem is the staff is rude. You can stand there for ten minutes waiting to order and they don’t mind you waiting! Well, I mind! Sometimes I just walk out, I do know how to cook a west Indian meal in my home. A little expensive for take out food. Tables and chairs if you like to dine in. They also charge tax on meals. Not sure if a bathroom is available. No trays. It is basic.

Ahhh… I haven’t gone to a Sybil’s in damn, can’t remember how many years…, but since i happen to be out and about in brooklyn and close enough to this location, my friend and I decided to check it out. The place itself is no frills — and the service is EXTREMELY slow, but the people are friendly enough. just pretend you are in the caribbean and you’ll get thereal experience… When you walk in you order at the counter the pre-prepared food, no labels on anything — so if you are as clueless as I am, just ask other people on line… After you get your food you can take it to go or sit at one of the tables around — not the prettiest place but the food makes up for it. Also, there is no bathroom — so watch your liquids or you’re gonna have to just hold it. I ordered the chicken roti, a guayanese chicken patty, and a maubi drink… The chicken roti was good — i always find the cultural influences you find on food interesting, hence ROTI coming from indian culture — but yet with a west indian twist… The maubi was well, as expected, but if you never tried it — its really really sweet but then really really bitter. I gagged everytime i took a sip… home made maubi is definitely much better… I tried my friend’s jerk chicken with spinach and rice&peas which was also really good. I need to come back and try something else soon.

Ok let’s just cut to the chase. Rice and beans=5/5 Baked chicken = 2⁄5 BBQ chicken = 4.5÷5 Salad = 5⁄5 Roti = 3.5÷5 Pastries = N/A The Environment of the Restaurant is as good as it can be for that particular area i suppose. They hold it down with their food and the workers there are always pleasant. Worth the go if you are craving guyanese/caribbean food.
