I love my stylist!!! She keeps my hair right everytime I go! There is nothing more relaxing than knowing I can just walk in and be treated like I had an appointment. I’m so proud to write this review keep up the good work!!! Xoxoxo

My experience has been totally different, I love this place, i’ve been to several Hair Salons, and so far this one is the best! My hair has grown since i’ve been going to Dominican Way, Lydia is the best… Lydia will not relax my hair unless extremely necessary, and she’s not a fan of permanent color either… but if you go into the shop asking for something they will do what you ask, because you ask. I remember going one time when Lydia wasn’t in… i asked for a perm and a color, i was told that I couldn’t get a color and a perm the same time… but if a customer comes in barking and being demanding that they want both, the stylist will do it, at the customers request! This is the kind of place where you have to go in knowing what you want and whats best for your hair, because they have a large clientelle and they dont know what your hair require! Ladies, we have to be more responsible for our own hair, NEVER leave all the decisions regarding your hair to the stylists.

I started out going to Lopez near Eastern Pkwy, but when the Dominican Way opened up I changed because the wait time was slower. I have long hair and I used to go for a relaxer 4 times a year and wash and sets weekly. Back in 2002, I went to get the works done for my prom. I asked for a trim to get rid of the split ends. Instead of getting a trim I received a full hair cut. My hair went from long to medium short. My mother was in shock, when I got home. She drove me over there and gave them a piece of my mind. I dont like to stereotype but I have heard Dominican hairdressers have a habit of cutting long hair short. They do color and relax on the same day, which is not healthy for hair, but thats a the customers request. A good thing is hair grows back. As far as my recommendations, make sure if you get a relaxer there, you demand that they use a neutralizing shampoo, because they do not unless you ask. Wash and sets are pretty basic, I don’t think anyone can mess those up. If you go on the days they have specials the price can be pretty good, if you dont get a conditioner and you bring your own pins if your getting a wrap after they take the curlers out. I do not go a salon anymore, because I have mastered doing my own relaxer and I bought a hair dryer, curler, and pins and I do my own sets. Its a recession I had to cut down somewhere. Plus I can give my hair the TLC it needs. I can say since I been doing my hair, my hair has been better taken care of and its twice the length it was before the cut of 2002.
