The WORST parve ice cream we ever tasted. No taste! It was awful! And I spent so much money on a cake there. It looked good but when we served it to our guests Friday night we were embarrassed. Over priced garbage. .

I was very glad to find this place. It was around 9pm on a freezing night in January. The manager(?) was hospitable and cool. He was going to stay open the full time, instead of closing early like some stores would, considering I was the only one there. Someone else did come in after. Kosher always tastes good, so I was happy. There’s seriously like an array of flavors, you could be in a candy store.

Great spot to pick up ice cream on a hot day and go for a walk. They have a huge variety. I hope I didn’t offend with my short shorts as the owner and most of the other customers were Hasidic Jews! It was great that they were open later than all the other places in the area. :) I’m sure this won’t be my last late night ice-cream run now that it’s warming up!

Dairy and non-dairy options and plenty of seating available. Non dairy tend to be pretty melted so I always go to the dairy options. Chocolate dipped cones with different nuts or sprinkles and plain cone options, too. They offer ice cream cakes, different sizes of cups, cones, and they’ll even pack you a pint of their flavors! Prices are reasonable but the flavor of the ice cream doesn’t feel like it’s from a mom-and-pop which breaks my heart a little/lot. The employees are kind and I didn’t feel like I was ever judged for my clothes, or my lack of Hasidic Jewish background. They make fresh fruit smoothies and also a salad bar… I didn’t partake in either of those options but they didn’t look too shabby.

I come to Ice Cream House a lot because I work super close to it. The food is good! I’ve only gotten their ice cream once but I get coffee, bagels, tuna salad on bagels, and salads pretty often. The ingredients are fresh and there are plenty of toppings to choose from. Just don’t get the cheese! It’s not real and it’s way too salty. The popcorn machine is great! Everyone at my office loves the popcorn from here. It’s just the perfect amount of salty and cheap too. The guys who work here are friendly and may seem to be working slowly at times, but I think it’s hard to tell because they often only have two or three people working during rush hours. It can get pretty crazy when there are tons of moms, kids, and babies in here. Strollers are everywhere, kids are ordering ice cream, and the moms are impatient!

This place is a mazing! They have anything and everything that you could ever want or imagine of a Ice cream store. They have a huge selection of ice cream flavors, dairy and non-dairy with lots of interesting drinks, shakes and ice cream cakes. They also have a awesome salad bar and delicious bagels, served all day long and a awesome two floor seating area which is pretty cool. However the only con(hence –5th star) is that the service is a bit slow at times and the person serving could be a bit grumpy and annoyed at times.

Great selection of ice cream(dairy and non-dairy) at a really reasonable price! This is my summer go to for a quick and easy ice cream fix. I’m actually really surprised that they are getting a hard time over their ‘respect our modesty laws’ sign. As a non-jewish female, I have never had a problem buying ice cream there because of my clothing(don’t let that scare you away!) Just be a respectful human– it’s really quite easy :)

I was not happy about this place. The ice cream was too sugary and artificial, no real flavor there. Also, the ice cream looked melted. The location is big but looks empty inside because of how everything is set up. Overall dulce de leche cone was good, but I would probably not go back.

Ice cream good. Orthodox Jew rules kind of scare you away. Nothing special that you can’t get at cold stone.

Talk about your variety. Rows of flavors, with a huge dairy-free selection! And oh boy can they make ice cream. I’m a chocolate fiend, and they absolutely deliver. Their milkshakes? Oh yes. Perfect to pick up while doing laundry next door! It’s thick, it’s creamy, it’s flavorful. It’s also only a little pricey, which is great in Brooklyn. They also have a salad bar — which I didn’t try, since I was definitely in an ice cream mood. It’s a weird business dynamic, but I guess if you need to pacify the ice cream fan and the health nut, it works. The space itself is bright, clean, colorful, and friendly. As to the dress code, I figure that when I walk into someone else’s home, I play by their rules. Ditto for a private business. Not all of their customers did, but I didn’t see or hear anything askance.

wowwww I came here to give a glowingly swimmingly review then i see loads of bullocks about womens rights and showing skin. I actually felt quite astounded to be the only melanin infused person in the establishment and got to GAZE at the emm Hasidim uniform in full detail. I just stared and fed my eyes away!!! What I really loved was inspite of my thumb sticking out’ness I got not ONE side eye glance although I admit a tad feeling of awkwardness as all the women were fully garbed to their feet. I had on stretch workout pants and a fitted tee; my curves make some bashful but AGAIN! …I did not feel ‘noticed’. Now, my Ice cream! the purpose of my rave: CHOCOLATERAZZZZZZZLE!!! Got this w/pistachio n a non-mentionable corn muffin which Id totally never heard of but the counter guy tried to describe it to no avail. I see ppl mentioning an off taste but methinks its probably a Kosher process applied to it meaning its actually GOOOD for you and who wants that!!! LOL lames. It was pushing midnight, I was in unfamiliar terrain in brooklyn and all the ditwad locals were clueless as to the existence of ice-cream shops, the hubster was thoroughly testing the bearings of my strings and I just wanted sweet unabashed comforting relief… well I got it and God bless the Ice Cream House! Im guessing their dress code enforcement is no longer in order or I was in compliance but either way if thats the audience they cater to I quite believe thats their prerogative. Was actually nice to see wholesome families and units of harmonious children. one family bus had blocked my car in and I didnt utter a word as I was fine keeping the dripping mess outside the car and sure enough they saw me waiting and moved of their own accord. let that be hickville U.S.A somewhere in Texas I bet it’d be an entirely different scenario.

They gave me the complete opposite of what I ordered and then gave me a hard when I told them respectfully that Id like it corrected. Absolutely terrible service. Also the sprinkles tasted like broken glass.

I read the reviews about this place and was a bit iffy about ordering anything from here… I usually don’t like ice cream because, blegh I’m not a big fan of overly sweet things. My friend ordered the vanilla soft serve. They have a lot of choices. I decided to go with the chocolate softee. Not bad but I wished it was bit more chocolatety… I now stick with the softee swirl. I also came here while wearing a tank top… I was afraid they’d say something or kick me out but as we were about to walk in, a couple of girls, teenagers walked in before us, wearing tanks and shorts, showing more skin than me. I felt more comfortable and at ease. They didn’t say anything anyways. I feel like I should cover up out of respect… I don’t know…-__–

This place offends me on a variety of levels, but two main problems stand out: 1. The enforcement of «modesty rules» is ridiculous. Last I checked, «The Ice Cream House» was not a place of worship. If you don’t want to see women’s legs, go live in Siberia. 2. The ice cream is completely terrible. I didn’t even finish my single scoop. Do not patronize this place if you have tastebuds or any respect for women’s rights.

This place is huge and offers and astounding variety of vegan ice creams, including soft serve(2 or 3 varieties), regular vegan ice cream in a cup or cone(about 12 flavors), vegan ice cream cakes, and novelty desserts. I’m not sure if this is the same as Klein’s kosher ice cream or if they just buy from Klein’s(which is also the ice cream used at Food Swings and other veg restaurants). I got a cone with 2 scoops, which was about $ 3.50, which is pretty cheap. Definitely more cheaper than upscale places like Lula’s and Stogo. That said, Ice Cream Castle’s ice cream is made with tons of water, sugar, and I think corn syrup. The upscale places make small batch coconut, hemp, and cashew-based ice creams so you get what you paid for. I don’t recall what flavors I had but I’ve had tons of Klein’s ice cream so it doesn’t really matter. They’re all good(minus pistachio and coffee, in my opinion, which I’ve never cared for). When I was in, the service was friendly, but I feel compelled to share an experience of a female friend that went once. She was told that she wasn’t allowed to enter because she was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. As this place is run by super orthodox Jews, they have modesty laws(posted on the building!). My friend said the people were very rude and wouldn’t let any women enter, but let the guys in. I didn’t have any issues when I went so it may depend who’s working. Some non-Jewish employees told me that sometimes the rules are enforced and sometimes they aren’t.

Yummy!!! This place was way better than I first anticipated it to me! Dont be fooled by the cheesy branding and obnoxiously bright lighting and Candyland themed colors… their gelato and sorbets are amazing! My favorites are now their coconut sorbet and peach sorbet… they taste so fresh and juicy! If artificial flavors are your thing… this wont satisfy you. The staff overall I found to be helpful and friendly! Portions are huge and prices are decent! And you cant beat the store hours! Parking at this location is kind of sucky… so if you plan on going, make sure you either bike, walk, or drive with another person to wait in the car :) Thanks Ice Cream House! You are officially my dessert go-to place in Bed Stuy now! PS: Take a peek in the freezer! They have cakes, popsicles, and even ice cream sushi!!!
