I am a Case Worker employed by a Social Service Agency to assist previously homeless people in accomplishing goals and providing them with support. On 10/15/2015 myself with two of my clients visited the Gateway Mall in attempts to assist them in locating employment. We went into The Gap and was greeted by a lovely Manager by the name of Ms. Jill, who was warm helpful and insightful. Next we visited DSW, there we had the pleasure of speaking to a Mr. Quentin, who was also very receptive to our plight. I decided to take them to TJ Maxx. Why not I shop there several times a month and by mere observation it appeared that help would be welcomed. I spoke with a nice Staff member by the fitting room and inquired if the Manager was available. To my Misfortune, Andresha Hamlin, came forward. I introduced myself and my title as I extended my hand to her to shake. Ms. Andresha in response folded her arms. I was noticeable puzzled by her lack of professionalism. In fact as my hand was still extended out I uttered one word«really» as I made the observation how she was looking at my Clients, one who has a disability. I was shocked at her apparent disdain. Both of my clients, one of whom has extensive retail experience is hardworking and exceptionally professional were dressed appropriately. I dare say more than Ms. Hamlin who looked unkempt. Ms. Hamlin’s behavior and biases should and will be bought to light. I have to include that my Clients’s reaction to Ms. Hamlin’s lack of common sense and humanity was uplifting to me as they attempted to shrug off her attitude and walked out the store, both agreeing they would not want to work there. I will be moving forward because of the more than obvious prejudices against my clients. With a Manager like that there is no wonder the place that location is a mess.

Awesome size & spaciousness thanks to Gateway’s spaciousness. Super nice staff, helped by the sane crowds which come here. Plentiful parking since is almost to western end of the lot thus not too crowded. A pleasing nice experience especially given its other NYC locations’ crowdedness. Checkout is generally below 5mins most days & times. Prices are your TJ Maxx standard: low for brand names.

This place is a joke, the home goods area is always a wreak, prices aren’t even discounted. I’ve seen duplicate things priced for less at Target! Line is always insanely long with only 1 or 2 employees(who clearly hate their job) working at a time. I wanted to know what the price was on a pillow(out of the bag, no tag or anything), saw the line decided to ask the manager if they could have someone on the floor price it, while I waited in the 11 person deep line. That didn’t happen, after waiting 20+ mins in line, I walked to the register, was then told they hadn’t done the price check. I was asked to step aside while they helped more customers!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes. There were multiple employees shuffling around, trying to appear busy. When the guys returned to tell me the price for the pillow, it was too much. I just left. Never again, total waste of my time and not worth the headache.

This TJ Maxx is located in the newer side of Gateway mall. It is a decent sized location with plenty of merchandise to choose from. I was able to get a few good deals on wine glasses and other Christmas related items. The store seemed disorganized while the items were in their respective sections, it wasn’t neatly organized. I found that frustrating considering this is a new location. The lines to checkout were long. With many registers open, it still took about 20 mins to wait and check out. There was a woman who may have been a manager to help customers to move quickly to the next register. It might have been more effective to have her checking customers out as well. I will try the store out again.

It was clean, other than been an average store, nothing stood out to me, not pricing, customer service, or environment. There is nothing about this store so far what would make it be my first choice.

It was nice & clean. Didn’t stay too long because the line was really long & there were some unruly children that I didn’t feel like tripping. Clothing wise, there wasn’t much of a selection for me. I’m a bigger gal & the plus sized section had grandma clothes.

This location is new to Gateway Mall. Just opened yesterday. The store had a good selection and was kept neat. They lose stars for the check out line wrapping around the store and out of 10 – 12 registers only 5 were open. It’s not like they were short on staff because many employees were walking around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to appear busy.
