Tom Chaves Photography

Went to Tom after seeing a posting for his services, checked out his facebook business page, and signed on for headshots. It was my first time shooting. Tom was super helpful and made me feel relaxed and comfortable. The pictures were amazing, I managed to get a variety of looks for corporate/​linkedin, acting, and modeling in one shoot! Tom also does retouching/​color and tone correction on selected images to make them perfect for their desired uses. would definitely return, great photographer!

Tom shot our wedding which was held at a summer camp. His demeanor and his ease with guests could not have been better. Very friendly. He shot for ten hours — the cocktails through our bonfire that night. He took some great unstaged and abstract shots.
The outdoor portraits he took (of family, of us two, etc.) were excellent. We had taken our time to shoot those. The ceremony photos were plentiful and nice. Rain forced us to move a lot of the portraits indoors, where the light and background were far less than ideal. These portraits were somewhat disappointing though I’m not sure what he could have done different given the lighting and the rushed nature of those setups. A surprising number of indoor photos were blurry, due to the low light. But he also took some wonderful shots indoors, so overall we had plenty of pics to put in our album.
He color-​corrected and returned the pics to us in a timely manner. I would urge clients (regardless of your photographer) to get all of the raw photos, not just the selects, since your opinion of the best pics will differ from the photographer’s.
Tom’s work was impressive especially given the price he charged us (far below a typical wedding photographer), and he was a pleasure to work with, though at times his responsiveness (in the months before the wedding) was a bit slow.

We knew Tom through a mutual friend and had seen him around, always with a camera in hand. After seeing some candid shots he took at our friends’ wedding, we hired him to shoot our engagement party and wedding. We really could not have made a better choice. This was definitely a budget wedding, and we were looking for someone to take and edit photos without any albums or prints. Every picture he took is perfect! It was really difficult to choose which of the hundreds of beautifully edited pictures to include in our album (which I made on Shutterfly myself). The quality of each picture is amazing. He took some really innovative shots which showed just how creative his vision is. As we looked back through the photos from our wedding, there were so many moments caught on camera that we had not even noticed him being there. To me, that is the mark of a great event photographer. I would recommend Tom to anyone without hesitation.
