I have had this bookmarked for a long ass time, and there was nothing that I wanted more after my 8PM yoga class than to finally grab a slice or two! My girlfriend, who frequents Lucky 13 Saloon in the area, says that she comes here often to cap off her night out; I understand why. Believe it or not, the smell of the pizza carried so strongly into our yoga class, that I was telling myself that the calories I burned would be re-introduced in an hour. We grabbed a table, and I got the vodka and fresh mozzarella slices, and my girlfriend got the grandma and vodka slices. The fresh mozzarella slice far surpassed my expectations — great thin and firm crust, not too much oil in the sauce, and the mozzarella was a gooey mess. My vodka slice was a bit underwhelming sadly; it tasted more like an Alfredo slice to me than vodka. My friend comes here solely for the vodka; I guess to each their own. 4 slices, two sodas will cost you just shy of $ 20. Fresh mozzarella — I will come back for you!

The 5 star is for the VEGGIEPIZZA! Best in town, in my opinion. For a hole-in-the-wall no frills grab a slice type joint, you will not be sad you ordered the veggie slice!

Was in town for a Wedding and had several tries at Brooklyn’s style of pizza from several places. This place right here was by far the best and one I would highly recommend. Had to give all the slices a try and my favorite was the buffalo chicken… Back here in California you just don’t get close to this. Well enjoy with confidence!

The only reason this place seems to exist is because it’s by the Union R stop. It’s a disgrace to the«fold and eat» ethos of NY Pizza. Seriously, go in, buy a plain slice and try for yourself. You can’t fold it because the crust is like a cracker. Always breaks into 3 – 4 crispy parts. It’s like they’ve never heard of baking soda. Or the pizza is stale. Either way, not a good look. The owner is in there a lot and he’s nice enough. The price is so-so($ 2.75 for a plain slice but they have deals). But this is BARELY edible pizza. Go there only if you’re desperate.

The best pizza you actually taste the richness of of basil which is a plus for me, definitely a homemade sauce because you only get richness like that from sauce that’s made at home.

Just stopped in for a slice before a comedy show around the block and was very pleased. Very clean, the owner is super friendly and the pizza is amazing. Worth every penny. I recommend the margarita slice

… First time here… Ordered a pepperoni slice… HOT out of the oven! The prices seem reasonable on their menu. I would frequent them again when I’m in town

I had the opportunity to try pizza from tomato N basil pizza and the pizza was not that bad. I had the mushroom slice. It was packed with flavor and the sauce tasted just right. I been to pizzerias in Brooklyn, and some of the sauce was very very sweet. Like they put a pound of sugar in it. Tomato N Basil do not do that. The sauce was just ridge. I also had the cheese pizza and they are very generous with the cheese. And the crust was just right. The piece is reasonable and not overly expensive. They also have specials that is a plus. Can’t wait to try other dishes.

I love this Pizza. I don’t live in the Neighborhood, but anytime I am going to be in the Gowanus/Park Slope area, I always make sure to stop in for the Margherita slice. One of the best in the city, in my opinion.

Came here for an afternoon snack. The place is kind of a dive, even when it comes to by-the-slice joints. Took a bit of a wait to get my pepperoni slice heated up, but when I got it, it wasn’t too hot. It was good. Sauce ranged to bland-ish. Cheese pretty standard. Crust mildly flavorful yet foldable. Slightly greasy, as to be expected, but not overly so. I imagine would be great for a late-night snack, too.

I love this place! The specialty slices are creative and the pizza is the perfect middle ground between thin crust and a big New York slice. I haven’t even tried all the amazing other food they have here because the pizza is so damn good.

This is the best pizza I’ve ever had. I like the Margarita slice best but the crust is perfect.

The lasagna slice, with a bottle of water, will cost you $ 5.17. Two things about that: 1. It’s dope. Meat, ricotta, sauce… it’s a meal in a slice. 2. I’m not sure if it’s because he’s lazy or if it’s because I’m devastatingly attractive, but when I handed the nice man behind the counter a ten dollar bill, he gave me a five as change. For those of you who aren’t great at mathematics, he saved me $ 0.17. And not only do I wholeheartedly appreciate that substantial savings, but I also appreciate not having to carry around $ 0.83 in change all day. This was good for everyone except the dude begging for change outside. I should also note that at lunch you can get two specialty slices and a drink for $ 7, and two regular slices and a drink for $ 5.50. These are pretty good deals, especially since the pizza is good.

This place is thrives on convenience. It’s so close to the R train that you can feel pulling into the Union Square station while ordering or eating a slice. Unlike some other places that have won the public transportation lottery, pizza here isn’t a total disaster(I’m thinking of some of the slice options around Union Square or the FMJZ interaction in the Lower East Side). Instead this is a perfectly adequate slice store. They get the crust here right, whether it’s the plain slices or the several Sicilian options. It’s not too thick, and has a good crisp texture on the bottom. Neither of the slices I had seem to have much going in terms of a cheese and a too sweet taste was present in the sauce. Nothing to travel out of the way for, but if passing through on the way to somewhere else, it’s worth considering as a option.

Looking for a quick bite to eat following the Royal Palms Unilocal Elite Event, we popped into Tomato-N-Basil sheerly due to its proximity to the Union R Stop, like 3 steps from the entrance. I do like thin crust pizza and Tomato-N-Basil comes through with that. All their pizza offerings in the glass case looked smashingly delicious. Maybe that set over-expectations. None of the selections had mushrooms, and that is my only«must have» on a pizza. They did throw mushrooms on a cheese pizza for me. Unfortunately the mushrooms were still cold when I got my reheated slice back. And I’m not a connoisseur of mushrooms but I could tell these were canned. Who likes cold canned mushrooms as a pizza topping? I really don’t know why so many pizza places choose to put fresh everything on pizzas and then throw on canned mushrooms. Freshly sliced mushrooms would be tastier and possibly cheaper for them. And if they were still a bit raw, that would be fine. Oh well, the pizza slice did do its job and got me home.

Tomato N Basil has the best local Pizza in my opinion, I have tried better Pizza’s elsewhere, but this is by far the best Pizza in my neighborhood(Park Slope). I am not sure if I believe this due to the fact that this Pizzeria is nearest to my home, but regardless, one thing that I can say for sure is that I am lucky, because their Pizza is really good, and I could be living near a shitty pizzeria lol. I can’t stress it enough their Pizza is good. I rarely eat Pizza anymore, due to the fact that Pizza is not a healthy choice for Lunch or dinner in general, but when I am in the mood for Pizza and I am Home or in the neighborhood I make sure to order from this Pizzeria. Their Pizzeria is very small, but their Pizza is big in flavor, you have to remember that the smallest Joints always have the best food. Their Pizza is your typical Brooklyn/NYC style Pizza, but they use high quality ingredients that you can really taste. A Must try if you are Park Slope. Perfect for a quick bite or pizza on the go.
