Tru Val Cleaners

Tru Val Cleaners is great. Mariana is wonderful and has put in linings for me, created dresses for me from scratch and always does a wonderful job. Their prices are reasonable and I’ve never had a bad experience with them.

This place is chronically late with items. They will say wednesday morning and then wont have it ready until thursday afternoon. The customer service is pretty poor. No explanation for late items, no discount, don’t even acknowledge that they’ve made a mistake. The guy will actually be kind of a dick about it.
They also have a «10% off if you pay in advance» sign posted, and then they act like its inconvenient for them if you try to use it.

I also agree: do not take expensive items here.
My boyfriend brought expensive suit pants to be hemmed here so he could wear them to a wedding. We assumed they could handle this simple job.
When I went to pick up the pants the day before the wedding, they looked for the pants for 15 minutes, told me they were «lost», then later told me they were given to the wrong customer, and they have no contact information for the person who has the pants.

I had a really awful experience with these folks, and they gave me every reason to believe that it was their average every day treatment. Lazy and neglectful.

Do not go to this dry cleaner if you have nice clothing that you care about!
They completely ruined a very expensive ($ 600!) beautiful silk blouse that I had bought recently.
Not only did the guy who ruined it (Ricardo) not apologize, he refused to talk to me about it and work out a solution. I tried to be reasonable, and let him fix it… he then proceeded to ruin it even more… then instead of trying to work out an agreement with me, like a human being, he just kept barking in my face to «take me to court, take me to court, take me to court»…
I am completely devastated and am looking into small claims court, but because of my work schedule I don’t know if it is going to happen.
To summarize, do not take expensive garments that you care about to this dry cleaner! They do not know what they are doing.

There are lots of cleaners in Williamsburg, but Tru Val is the closest one I could find to the Bedford & Lorimer L stops that takes credit cards. Their prices are neither cheap nor steep. Everything came back very clean and well ironed. Although the collars on two dress shirts came back ruffled it was no worse than you’d expect from a standard machine pressing.
I would have given five stars if Tru Val had my recent 15-​piece order ready sooner than three business days. All of their cleaning (including dry cleaning) is done on-​site, so I think it would just take a little pushiness when dropping items off to get next day or second day service.
