The lamb ribs kebab are my favorite, the price is decent but the amount of meat isnt much so i would suggest them to may be raise the price a little but increase the meat amount. The sauce and salad were good and the food was delivered very quick as well. Will be ordering again.

I think that when you come to a place like Turkish express, you need to expect a place like Turkish express. I have been reading reviews from people here, that rated this place by comparing it to a full size restaurant, and of course they have no chance, this place is not a restaurant, I mean not in the way you may imagine. It is not comfortable to seat here, and the service here is between serve yourself and wait till I get back to you. But the thing is that they do not pretend to be something that they are not. It is a small restaurant, which offer unique food. Not the best food, not the worst, bit for the prices they charge here, they are good enough. And with minor cosmetic changes, they can do much better. The place is good for take away and delivery. If you want to seat and dine or have dinner, you may want to consider other restaurants.

The lentil soup made me feel like I was in prison. Watery, with 1 or 2 lentils, some tiny shredded mystery vegetables. The«Shepherd’s Salad», well, I threw it away. Indistinct vegetables of advanced age, grown without the aid of nutrient or sun.

Hands down the best food within 10 miles, I used to think Sahara was the best, not anymore. Nice guys at the counter, very good food. Don’t listen to other reviewers, some need their taste buds examined by a doctor… Cheers

— All you need to know about Turkish Express can be summed up in the below sentence — This place has the most disgusting and vile food one could imagine up. Was starving today and decided to give this place another try after a year of avoiding it to see if things got better, and just got home with a simple order from that place. 1. Lamb Gyro 2. Humus Thats about as traditional run of the mill turkish fanfare as you can get. Regarding the Gyro: In every bite or two, I had to spit out what seemed to be hardened fat inside they gyro. Made that dish totally inedible. and even if it didn’t have that congealed fat to contend with, the meat tasted totally disgusting. Onto the humus… I mean its just humus right. Chick peas and some lemon juice and salt. The humus I got tasted like it was bathed in salt. It was so salty that it was bitter. Both dishes went into the garbage… A part of me wanted to go back there and just give the food back to them, but I dont need the drama. I should have just stayed away like I did all year. Live and learn.

I only give it one star because it’s not possible to give zero. Truly dreadful. One of the worst meals I’ve had in a couple years. I mean, seriously. Got delivery three times, first time it was ok, good enough to try a second time considering it was the only place delivering that wasn’t Mexican food. It went from bad to worse between the 2nd and 3rd tries. Last night was awful, literally the worst falafel I’ve ever had. The rice tasted like it was cooked in a rusty pot or a pot that hadn’t been rinsed thoroughly and still had soap residue. The falafel was so stale it crumbled like a cracker, not to mention it had clearly been fried in old stale oil as well. Chicken in the gyro was dried out and obviously cooked the day before. I was had two bites of everything(the first, and then a second just to be sure I wasn’t prejudging) and basically threw everything away and went to bed hungry. Oh and the Tahini tasted like water, the salad was old and wilted as well, almost as if it had been sitting in the sun. P. S. If you think it’s impossible for hummus to be completely flavorless, Turkish Express will prove you wrong, I mean, it didn’t even taste like the chick peas it’s supposedly made out of. Stay away!

This place is amazingly underrated. Every time I’ve been here I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the food they put out. Today I tried the lagman and it was amazing. They hand pull the noodles in house! It had all the right flavors, generous amounts of lamb, and delicious slurpy noodles. It’s a no frills quick bite kinda place.

Ordered on seamless. Lamb rib kebab was all fat no meat, at all. Salad looked and tasted very old. Pita and sauces were fine

You HAVE to try their lentil soup. I had surgery which left me with hardly any appetite and that was the only thing I wanted to eat. They can be forgetful with orders, make sure to ask for white/red sauce, if you like them.

I used to order in a regular basis to this restaurant and the food was not so bad. But my last delivery Order trow grub hub was awful. I ordered chicken gyro because my mom can’t eat meat and they send me lamb kebab, the rice was like mashed and the salad was a bunch of tomato with oregano. Plus, I ask for Shepard salad and I got a box with a bunch of tomatoes and I guess 5 little pieces of cucumber, not to mention that they put tons of oregano on it that it actually made the bunch of tomatoes not so tasty. I ended cooking that day for my mom because the food was terrible. I don’t know what happen!!! It used to be good.

As a lover of Med food I decided to some research about Greek/Turkish places in the area, and satisfy my cravings by ordering a delivery from TE. They almost didn’t take the CC payment, but then agreed to deliver the grossest food I’ve ever had. The cigara borek wasn’t crispy rolls like it’s supposed to be, but a saggy, salty, oily mess. Scared to try the rest!

There arent many places, that can make you feel like the were taken from their original country, and landed in NY. This is one of those who can, if it is good or bad, judge for yourself ;) Definitely not a fancy place, and for sure not the place to take on a first date. But if you want food that has a special taste, which is not expensive at all, and that will make you feel in a far country for half an hour, you should try them. They have delivery service as well, that get to you fast, and the food is still fresh. Oh, and the prices are ridiculous… I love the chicken kabab and the Samsa. And the Baklava is great for dessert.

I go here for felafel and love it. Wraps are six bucks and pitas are five. What I really like is that the felafel is always made right in front of you, it’s never sitting around. The guy always scoops out the batter/mix and it cooks while you wait. I usually get the wraps because they pack it with felafel balls and so far they wrap it great, I’ve never had it fall apart(although I don’t always mind when it does, it’s fun to eat felafel messy) and it stays really warm. The salad isn’t too good. They could dice it a bit more and maybe look into using some better cucumbers. The hummus can be a little pasty and dry but it still gets the job done. Overall, I’m always satisfied when I go here.

They make the lamb/beef doner kebab from actual layers of meat on a spit, which seems pretty promising at first. It was really chewy and overcooked last time(not to mention the stale Turkish bread it was served on), but I thought it might be a lot better if I asked the guy to to take it straight from the spit to the sandwich instead of cooking it twice. That technique worked at another place a while ago, until they eventually got rid of their lamb doner, so I thought it might work here. Unfortunately the mediocrity of the meat was even more obvious when it wasn’t cooked a second time; it was bland, sliced too thickly, and had a wet, spongy texture, as if it had been injected with water. It tasted less like doner meat than a piece of chopped-up, bottom-shelf minute steak. As little as I like the gyro loaf that the typical halal places in the neighborhood sell, it would have been a lot better than this kebab.

I would not say this is one of the best Turkish food i have ever had however its pretty close to being perfect, not very expensive compared to Sahara or other Turkish restaurants. If you are looking for quiet extremely friendly, great customer service and delicious food then this is the place to go. They don’t have a large seating area only few tables inside and 2 tables outside which gets you the chef undivided attention, kinda hard to find now a days. Perfect for take out or take your late night date for unforgettable bite to eat ;) they are open until midnight!
