This place is DELICIOUS! I had the tuna burger and my husband(who is SUPER picky) got the greenbird with only lettuce and tomato with sweet potato fries. Everything was amazing! I highly recommend this place!

I’m down for anything truffle so I came in with my mind made up on getting truffle fries. One thing I am opposed to though, is an understaffed establishment. I am not one to be easily upset waiting 30 minutes for decent food cooked the way I expect it to be. However, I asked for my truffle burger to be cooked medium rare but the rim of the patty was still bloody and under cooked. Grabbed a knife and scraped the bloody part off :(As if that wasn’t a turnoff, I was already appalled that there was only 1 waitress in the whole restaurant taking orders and a gentleman(who I’m sure was the manager) assisting her. I’m not sure what’s the story here but there definitely cannot be only 1 person waiting tables the entire night and nor should it take 30 minutes for your order to pop out of the kitchen. I hope management will find a way to rectify this situation.

Quintessential three-star establishment — nothing offensive or wrong, but nothing particularly exciting. The throwback burger was decent — quality beef, and probably would have enjoyed it a lot if it wasn’t overcooked to my medium rare order. The french fries are shoestring style(not my favorite to begin with) and were limp, oily and undercooked. The truffled beet salad was quite good, but a bit too saturated with dressing. Pretty solid beer selection. I found the vibe/décor odd and a bit off-putting — kind of like in an outsider conception of what Brooklyn is. I mean, really… an LA-based burger franchise, when we have such fine home-grown options? Just another example in my voluminous personal catalog of «why trust anything that started elsewhere that I already know we do better in NY»(see, e.g., pizza, bagels… actually, pretty much everything).

The best food ever but the service was just terrible. Took more than 30 min to get pickles. The waiter brought all the wrong stuff and he forgot two things we ordered. I never review things but today was just a terrible service. I think they’re missing waiters

Anxious to see this place when it’s busy. My friend and I came here on a Friday later afternoon and it was nearly dead. Maybe it’s a new location? It seemed like they were carrying out interviews as well. The happy hour menu is short but a good bang for its buck. We both got the three sliders and the truffle fries. All of which were very delectable. I originally wanted to get the Korean BBQ burger… next time. I took off one star because the bathroom was a bit of a mess. I found that sort of off putting considering how slow it was at the time and it’s a single restroom. I will likely go back when it’s warmer because of their outdoor seating. Perfect for summer nights.

$ 21 burger w onion rings. Part of my order was left out of the delivery bag. When I called they refused to send anyone over and blamed the delivery service. They told me I should call the app customer service then they would contact them and then they would contact me. All this to get what I already purchased. Their location is three blocks away from where I work and they refused to bring the rest of my order. The manager was fine arguing on the phone for 15 minutes but couldn’t be bothered to walk 5 minutes to correct their mistake. They won’t use seamless or grubhub So instead I had to download yet another suedo fancy food delivery app(Caviar). $ 15 food $ 3 delivery fee $ 3 «service» fee whatever the hell that means. Yet another bland trendy shitty burger place with bad management trying to reinvent the wheel. I saw people eating their burgers with a fork and knife. Seriously eff this place.

Juiciest & best quality burger! I convert lots of my friends into Umami lovers. My favorite go to burger is the truffle burger. DECADENT I love the truffle fries too. I mean I love anything truffle. I love their dips. I love pretty much everything about Umami. The servers are always pleasant. They asked you if it is your first time dining in. This is the only place where I will have a rare burger because the quality is unmatchable. I’ve only visited one other location but completely prefer the BROOKLYNONE! WOo HoO The only thing I am not a fan of are the desserts. I’ve never had dessert there but from the looks of other tables and the menu I could go somewhere else for dessert I don’t mind.

It looks like some of the hype of Umami burger has fizzled out, given that I walked in with a party of 8 on a Saturday night and we were seated immediately. We were all curious to see what all the fuss was about and after our experience I’m not surprised that this place has gone down in the ranks. They have quite a few types of interesting burgers, meaning toppings and extras, but overall we weren’t amazed. The beef is tasty which makes me thing good quality, so that was not a disappointment. I had the truffle burger which boasts all things truffle from the aioli to the cheese. I didn’t find it to be full with flavor the way I would have wanted, but instead a bit too greasy. Truffle usually means«whoa» but it certainly didn’t stand out. The rest of us agreed with our variety of burger, including the classic which comes with a unique Parmesan disc as an added cheese element. Also, they were on the tinier side. I’m glad I tried it but there are better places that I’d rather spend that much money on. Also– the fries were a disappointment, and for a burger joint that’s a serious no no!

I’ve been to Umami on the west coast and I loved it. I’m a burger lover. This location was no disappointment! Everything was perfect! We were greeted and sat by the manager who explained their drink specials. Erica our server gave us everything we needed without having to ask for it. We ordered medium rare burgers and they were done perfectly. I myself am a fan of a real whiskey sour and this place makes them right with whipped egg whites. My girlfriend had Malbec wine in which she was very pleased with. Lastly, get the onion rings! Best I’ve had in awhile! We recommend this place to anyone.

Day after Christmas for dinner was just perfect! The service was amazing and the staff was super friendly. The atmosphere was just right for a casual Saturday night out with friends. I got the cali burger and it was just the right combination of delicious and the truffle fries w sauces were amazing. Would love to try the west village location and definitely revisit the Brooklyn one.

If you’re looking for a delicious, juicy, flavorful burger, YOUHAVEGOTTOCOMETRY the burgers at Unami Burger! The Truffle Burger is a must! It’s cooked to perfection with truffle flavor in ever bite of the burger. There’s a truffled aioli with house truffle cheese and truffle glaze. When you bite into the burger and meat juice starts to drip down all over your hands, you know this burger is amazing. I also ordered the Maple Bacon Fries and oh my goodness, it was glorious. It sticky and sweet, however if you dip the fries in the sauces that comes with it, it helps balance the sweetness. I forgot the sauces name but one of them was a ketchup with truffle flavor, Yum! The service was quick and I sat at the Bar to eat. The bartender was friendly and helpful. Gotta come back again for those burgers!

This was my 2nd foray to Umami burger, the first being in lower Manhattan. We had a fair experience there, it was busy and our food came out in random order. We understand that can happen. They got my friend’s order wrong but we also understand that can happen during a busy time. Yesterday we went in during a slower time, around 2 pm in the afternoon, at the Williamsburg location. There were plenty of empty tables. We were seated a table near the door and it took some time for our server to get to us. She did greet us and let us know she’d be with us as soon as she can and she was very friendly. When she arrived at our table, she was very cordial and helpful with selecting our drinks. One of our party wasn’t drinking however, but it took some time before we got water brought to our table. We ordered a Caesar salad, two orders of fries — one standard, one truffle, a cali burger, and an regular umami burger. Water also was very infrequently refilled and our friend ended up drinking our waters because she had finished hers. We got the salad first and it was dressed well(not too much or too little dressing), and topped with a few appetizing white anchovies. Unfortunately as we tucked in, the salad was gritty, like clams with too much sand. We figured someone had forgotten to wash the greens and tried to eat a little more but it was just too gritty. We returned it and advised our busser that the greens were gritty. Our food soon followed. Our friend had requested her burger cooked medium and we had requested medium rare. Our burger came out medium. Not dry but not a bit of pink. The fries were a little cold. Otherwise the condiments were tasty and had the burgers been cooked to order, I imagine it would have been yummy. After we were almost done with our meal, the busser brought us a replacement salad. Having finished our meal, we thanked them for the replacement but sent it back to the kitchen. We never asked for the salad to be replaced and requested it just be taken off our bill. When we got the bill the salad was still on the bill. We were tired of being the bad guys so we just decided to pay for it. We asked they split the bill by taking our friend’s two items and putting it on a separate bill. However, when it was returned with our cards, they had split it incorrectly. We again, just figured it out amongst ourselves and quickly left. Overall, I feel like Umami burger could be great, but the staff from the kitchen to the front of the house seems a little absent minded and the management disorganized. The salad could have been great if they’d just taken the time to wash the greens. The burger had all the right elements but was cooked carelessly and not to temperature. The service was friendly but not attentive. The busser didn’t communicate with our server about our salad. Lots of small misses that made for a less then amazing meal. For the price point, I expected better. My friend commented we could go to the shake shack and get better for less money. I hope they can get some of the kinks worked out! For now, I will probably try places that have more consistency.

Much nicer interior and lighting than the West Village. Truffle burger: once upon the time there was a great burger… not anymore. The bun is different(tougher, thicker), the burger not medium rare, plus it doesn’t even stay together. Service painfully slow. So why 3 stars? Its still a decent burger. However, Umami Burger used to deliver one of the best burgers in the city. Long time loyal to the West Village location, I used to consider their truffle burger a masterpiece. Since the company sadly changed the bun(a choice I will never ever understand), the burger has gotten worse. The bun for a burger is as important as rice for sushi. I wish the company agreed with me.

#Pretty good burger. But what I like about this place is that they show football on #Sundays. And it’s not as packed and obnoxious as a #sports bar. So if you want to just chill at a place that has a full bar, eat a burger and watch your #fantasy team lose in peace and silence, this is a good place. They have #Wi-Fi to check on your fantasy team. I think the password is #trufflefries.

I will begin this review with I will be back so consider me a regular from now on. Our server Maurice who greeted and seated us with the warmest of welcomes was super friendly & very knowledgeable, Maurice gave us a quick bio on what Umami represented and why the name Umami was chosen then we were given recommendations on Cocktails and food and a few minutes to soak it all in and make a decision. Maxed back & totally relaxed because the Umami atmosphere has got just the right everything going on for it, perfect lighting(dim enough to put you in a chilled out mood, where I could actually see my menu without putting on my cellphones flashlight, the music selection was a very nice mix of chill house music which was playing at a comfortable level so you can hear your company without shouting. Cocktail Drinks were some of the best I’ve had to date so you know Ill be back since that’s my thing! I had the Maple Bacon Old Fashioned & my company had the OH Henry, we both sampled one another drinks and we were both highly impressed with the flavors and smoothness of each of these signature cocktails so these will always be on our reorder list because they’re that good! We absolutely loved the Maple Bacon Fries(this is an outstanding dish of fries that is a must try and do not pass by! Truffle Fries were perfectly done but not as outstanding as the Maple Bacon Fries. Manly Burger was also a hit also, especially since I’m a bacon lover and this burger comes with the bacon lardons, onion rings & cheddar cheese baby! The entire burger, fries & cocktail drinks combined made this is a rich on flavor and hearty meal! The Ice Cream sandwich was rich, decadent and large enough for us to share but alas we were to stuffed to finish it in its entirety. So Umami is a 5 star winner in my book and therefore we will be a regular here.

My mouth is watering at the memory of the Umami Burger and truffle fries. I’ve been waiting forever to go one of these locations, after hearing stories of long waits and over-hyped food. Finally got the chance during a weekday off. Can’t speak for the other locations, but I love the space at this restaurant. It’s HUGE, with a really nice backyard space. They have a «Social Hour» from 3−6pm on weekdays with awesome specials: $ 3 truffle fries, $ 4 sliders, $ 5 beers, $ 6 wine, and $ 7 cocktails(isn’t it cute how the prices are in ascending order?). It was a tough choice, because all of the cocktails sound delicious, but I ordered a Maple Bacon Old Fashioned which was strong and delicious, plus it came with a strip of CANDIEDBACON. Best garnish EVER. Also got the truffle fries($ 3!) which were absolutely delicious. Truffle cheese sauce-covered fries with those dips were just swoon-worthy. All the dips were great, but the house ketchup really nailed it for me. Can I buy this ketchup? And this being my first time, I had to order the signature Umami Burger. OMG. I may never try any other burger from this place again, that’s how much I loved this one. The flavors of the chewy Parmesan, roasted tomato, carmelized onions with that juicy beef patty were just perfection. I’ve had my share of must-try burgers, and this one definitely lived up to the hype. In addition, the service was great. Sat at the bar, and the bartender was super attentive and explained the concept of the restaurant and its food and gave recommendations. You can be sure I’ll be back.

I’ve had Umami burger twice before. Once was at GoogaMooga the first time it was available on the east coast, and the second time was when they opened their NYC flagship in the West Village. It took some time to make it to the Williamsburg location, but as soon as I walked in, I remembered all the things I loved about them. If you have the fortune of being able to swing by on a weekday from 3−6pm, you can take advantage of their amazing happy hour specials(deemed«Social Hour»). This includes $ 3 truffle fries(yum!), $ 4 sliders, $ 5 draft beers, $ 6 wine, and $ 7 cocktails. I don’t think there’s a better deal to be had in NY. The $ 3 truffle fries is like a full order. You get all the truffle-y and cheesy goodness for pocket change. The cocktails are also inventive, a lot of them whiskey/bourbon, and a few with bacon! Get the Maple Bacon Old Fashioned and the Bacon Bloody. Trust me on this. Of course, no trip to Umami Burger would be complete without one of their signature burgers. Sat at the bar and the bartender had this entire explanation of what umami is and which burgers specialized in the taste. Had to go for the Original just because I hadn’t had it in a while. And it was just as good as I remember, if not better. The mushrooms bring out the meaty and savory taste. The burger was cooked perfectly with a pink middle. And the housemade ketchup is the stuff of dreams. Also worth noting is that this place is huge. It’s like the size of a fast casual dining place, with a bunch of TVs on the wall and bike frames on the ceiling. They also have a pretty big yard with lots of seating. Definitely great for groups. Will definitely be returning!

I wish their burgers made me say oh mami but the Korean BBQ Burger fell short. I was pretty excited about this place after hearing all my friends rave about it. I admit I was a sucker for the«U» stamped on the burgers, but hey my daytime job is a designer so you can’t blame me. So why did the Korean BBQ Burger fall short? WELL, everything in it was great, the meat, the aioli, the salad but it wasn’t Korean at all. Asian, yes, korean, no. Why? The gochuchang sauce wasn’t there. In fact I didn’t taste any gochuchang sauce. Any Korean knows that’s the most vital ingredient in making a dish taste Korean. The same thing happened with my truffle fries. It smelled heavily like truffle yet it didn’t taste like truffle at all, what gives? The sauces as well weren’t very exciting either. The diablo sauce was far from spicy. When a sauce is named after the devil it better taste bad ass, but on contrary it was wimpy. Aside from Diablo they offered Jalapeño ranch and Umami ketchup, I ended up preferring the Umami ketchup out of the three. It seems like the chefs are holding back on flavor because my taste buds are far from getting whipped. They’ve gotta be more aggressive if they want my tongue to succumb to their dishes. This girl’s more than ready to take it rough.

After being completely mesmerized from my experience at the 6th Avenue location more than a year ago, I have been itching to feed into my hunger for Umami’s truffle fries and burger again for quite sometime now. When a friend suggested we come here for dinner while in the area, there was no way I could’ve said no. Sadly, this location falls short from the charm of the 6th Ave. location and it pains me to write this review because I had high expectations and was looking forward to an experience as great as my first. I know it’s a new location but as a well-known establishment, they do not really have their shit together. I had a cold the day I came here, so when I asked for a cup of hot water, they said they didn’t have any, which was just weird. It’s cold out and you can’t even serve coffee or tea? I get that it’s a burger place, but really… It took awhile for my hot water to come and by the time it came, it was served in a glass cup and tasted like pure steel from the kettle. I give props to my waiter though. He tried. We ordered the Truffle Fries that I’ve been drooling and losing sleep over having this again. Let’s just say that I won’t be having any of that for awhile. The fries were so thin and dry-looking, and all of the truffle sauce dripped all the way down to make a solid puddle of sauce. The Sunny Side was surprisingly really good – it’s a much richer, festive version of the Truffle Burger, and perfect if you’re hungover. As if things couldn’t get any worse after leaving, my biggest problem was after having the Ahi Tuna Burger and I was highly anticipating on this – presentation was great and looked close enough to be an upscale restaurant burger, and the taste was great. I’m a huge lover of all things raw seafood, but within an hour of eating, my stomach was hurting like hell. It was something. Needless to say, I’m not anticipating on going back to Umami as much as I had, mainly due to the experience here. Cool bikes across the ceiling though.

I’d have to say the burgers here are superb. I never order medium rare burgers. Never Ever! But it was recommended by our waiter and it was a great decision. I ordered the Sunnyside burger. The Sunnyside was dressed with cheese and truffle compound butter and truffled arugula. The taste of this burger stayed with me through the night. I HIGHLY recommend trying this burger. I tried the«Manly» and it was pretty tasty as well. If you go with a group or a few friends, order a side of the onion rings, they are so good you’ll want more! They are tempura friend and they are pretty large. I also recommend the maple bacon fries. Holy cow! I’m thinking about those fries as i type this review. They are so good you’ll go to sleep dreaming about them. Forreal. The staff is VERY attentive. All of our needs were met, the hostess was very polite and the waiter was patient, answered all of our questions and we did not have to wait long for our order. They did forget my friends side order of sweet potatoe fries but he apologized. As for drinks, this location(not sure about the other locations) has a full service bar. I tried the Swizzle cocktail, it was okay, bitter but the bartender was generous with the bourbon. I also tried the Velvet cocktail and that contained tequila and went very well with my meal. I will be returning here pretty soon. I don’t know how I’ll ever eat another burger again after eating here.
