Waited five minutes for the guy to wander back over. First spoon was dirty. Ice had a hair in it. No thanks.

I came here craving ice cream. I ordered two pints chocolate and banana head. The guy at the counter said it would be 11 bucks, a buck cheaper than listed. I thought i was getting a deal. When i get home I realize he gave me one pint. I was totally surprised he could forget such a simple order. After putting a spoon into the pint I realized the guy had put a layer of chocolate over the banana and sold it as two pints. When i checked the receipt he charged nine dollars. If i wasn’t tired I would go back and get my money. What ice cream I got was decent, hence two stars.

A remember going to the pizzeria on fifth and 11th street to get Italian ices, it was a dollar! And it was huge, now a days you have to come to a play like with for an icy… Besides the wait, which there is always one, while I wait I usually try to convince my son to not get one, because who wants to wait 15 minutes for a icy? It’s basically slow, and overpriced. They have too much stuff on the menu to handle, with one person working, so if someone orders a milkshake in front of you, you’re basically screwed & will wait a while. Hire more staff, and give the girl working there some HELP especially on those warm days.

I went here after dinner on a second date. I had a simple and delicious chocolate cone, and it still has sweet memories for me.

I do love a good icee. They remind me of hot summers growing up in New York City, running to the pizza shop and getting a cherry ice mixed with coconut or lemon. Perhaps in my advanced age, I don’t get the same kick as I used to, but a recent visit to Uncle Louie G’s just didn’t do the trick. Perhaps its because of the many many choices — it becomes overwhelming, but halfway through the paper cup, I was filled with regret over my sugar intake. The service, however, is very nice so kudos to the staff!

The service was great, prompt, and led to quality product from what we saw — one sundae and two delicious shakes in our group. Lots of flavors. What else could you ask for?

It was hot today, and as I finished dinner and prepared to take my dog for a walk I thought about what we could do other than just walk in circles. That’s when it hit me: ice cream from Uncle Louie G! A friend who lives near the location on Union gave Uncle Louie G high marks, so I opted to go for this one. I walked to the location, and stepped to the window to place my order for one regular chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. The guy behind the window then turned off his radio, and looked at me to repeat the order again. «one regular chocolate chip cookie dough, please.» He gave me a confused look, and said«chocolate?» «No… chocolate chip cookie dough.» He smiled, said okay, then held up the regular cup and asked if that was the size I wanted. When he placed the ice cream on the counter, it was chocolate; no chip, no cookie dough, just chocolate. After paying my $ 3 because I didn’t want to go through that again, I tried the ice cream. That too was disappointing. About 1⁄3rd of the ice cream seemed to have that«I’ve been frozen and thawed and frozen and thawed» consistency that gives the weird rubbery, blah texture. I may give it another shot… but I think next time I’ll just stick with Ben & Jerry’s until I find a really good ice cream joint in the ‘hood.

I give 5 stars in general for Uncle Louie G product, but 3 for this particular location(with its weird drippy pipe and deli sidecar setup), so 4 average. First, let me say I’m an ice CREAM fan, so I was going out on a limb to try just the ice part. But how could I resist peanut butter cookie dough and chocolate peanut butter when I had a snotty head cold and was avoiding dairy like the plague?! I couldn’t. I mixed them together, inhaled them, and went back for more. Ever since I was pushed to that particular sugar breaking point, I have thanked that head cold. You heard me! I cannot BELIEVE there is not cream in some of these ices. It must be the peanut butter but this stuff is awesome! I’ve tried a few other flavors but the most impressive to me are always the ones that should be ice cream but aren’t. Like the chocolate Oreo and Cappuccino MIXEDTOGETHER. yuuuummmmm. I’ve actually only tried the ice cream twice I think(Cookie dough and Cappuccino chunk). They were OK, but I keep going back for the ices. You should too! Plus, the blue and white stripes herald the arrival of Summer in Park Slope. What a sweet sight!

In college, I fell in love with and had a mild obsession with Rita’s Italian Ice. Unfortunately, there aren’t any Rita’s in the city(sad face) so on my Saturday afternoon stroll with our doggie Toby I decided to stop at Uncle Louie G’s for an Italian Ice fix. At first I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and texture of the ice but as it started to melt and the syrup and ice became a slushy mess, each bite became agonizing and stung my throat. Ick! I had to toss it ½ way through eating it. I doubt I’ll be back again.

Looks like Albert W. beat me to it. There used to be an Uncle Louie G. near where I live. I remembered that they had a lot of interesting flavors and were very refreshing and yummy. Came here on a warm, humid afternoon looking for that refreshing hit. Had the canteloupe ice and I’m not gonna lie – I was a bit disappointed. I kinda kicked myself for not just opting for Gino’s Italian Ice at the pizzeria up the block. Dear Me: Sorry for the disappointing ice hit. *Shaking head*

I never realized this was here until a friend pointed out how awesome their icee’s supposedly are. Attached to the bodega/grocery place, this opens seasonally catering anyone who wants a cool icee, shake, or ice cream. The service is really nice, the prices fair($ 2 for a small cup), and a ton of interesting flavors — my piña colada icee was pretty meh, and so was my friend’s cantalope.
