US Post Office

what is the point of me printing prepaid shipping labels if your apc machine drop off box is always locked? a prepaid shipping label saves me time and your usps employee’s time as well. get a damn drop off box that works so i don’t have to wait half an hour in line to drop crap off.

In a word … disgusting. The employees are surly and rude, lines out the door and, as others have noted, I prefer the Dyker Hts Post Office. Lines are shorter, and the employees are so very, very nice. Lovely neighborhood feel at Dyker — Bath Beach is an abject disgrace. My brother and sister-​in-​law live in that area and I have had the great good fortune of visiting that post office. It was revolting.

Colonoscopies. Paying taxes. Root canals. Going to the post office. All things we have to do in life, along the lines of dying and paying taxes. This place is a horror. It’s a very tiny space compared to other post office showrooms in the area. Lines linger for hours on end sometimes, with indifferent bureaucrats getting their rocks off watching the helpless masses on the other side of the glass struggle to be served and move on with our lives.
Interestingly, most who work are are Chinese, and English is not their primary language. These green newcomers seem to primarily care about helping their own kind, who come to the post office with sacks and sacks of parcels being shipped all over the world for various enterprises of dubious legality. These massive dropoffs result in the lines meandering around the corner sometimes, and are really unfair to those of us who are just there to pick up our packages. Furthermore, you hear every tongue other than English being spoken here, adding to the frustration. I’ve discovered that the mailmen are generally apathetic and lazy, and rather than bother to, G-​d forbid, knock on your door or ring your bell, they’d rather just take the more convenient way out for themselves and leave a pink slip. You have to wake up early on your only day off in order to brave the hoarding masses here to just get your darn package, and when you survive to tell the tale, you rue the day you have to return to this hellhole. I’m pretty sure Dante had this place in mind when he was writing the Inferno.

Their stuff are so rude. Go somewhere else.

Set aside about an hour before coming here on a weekend. The line is always ridiculous from opening to close.
Although this is my local post office, I usually drop off my packages at the dyker post office since the lines are way shorter.

If you have an option, go somewhere else. Lines get unbelievably long, the workers work slowly even knowing that people are waiting. My longest wait is two hours. Reason being is because I simply didn’t want to come back again. Good luck!

EVERY time a package is shipped to me using USPS, all I get is a notice saying that they attempted delivery and I was not at home. What’s the matter? They can’t press the doorbell that is positioned 6 inches from the mailbox? They can drop in the notice, but they can’t ring the bell? So then it’s a 30-​minute freak show at the postal office as customer hurl obscenities at the indifferent postal workers. I despise this office, as does each person that is forced to stand in line with me.
I strongly suspect that they have no intention of delivering parcels. I believe they go out with a bunch of notices pre-​filled and simply drop them into mailboxes, rather than delivering the parcels. One of these days when I am home waiting, I will catch them. But then what? Who do I complain to? What difference will it make?
This is why the USPS needs to go away. Out with the old, and bring in people with a work ethic.

I wish there is an option to select zero stars because that is what I would give to this post office. This post office has the worst service and the employees all have a nasty attitude. It is such a sad representation of a federal agency. I blame the management of this branch for not giving a crap about customer experience and really seeing how terrible their employees are. Here are a few of my experiences with this location…
–Whenever you go to pick up a package, there is a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance they might have lost your package. There is always a line and the wait is absurd. The agent at the pick up window always has a bad attitude. I happened to have been there this past week where I noticed the pick up window line was almost out the door. It is because the agent is slow and drags her feet to locate the packages. Then she has the nerve to shake her head in disgust at how many people are on line.
–I arrived on a weekday at 4:15pm to send out a package. The office doesn’t close until 5pm, yet, none of the agents are helping any of the customers. There were about 5 people on line waiting, none of them being called to the windows. The agents behind the windows were talking and laughing among themselves, ignoring the customers. It wasn’t until a frustrated customer went straight up to one of the windows and blatantly asked why none of the customers were being helped, before one the agents decided to get back to work.
–The agents attitudes are just bad. No one ever smiles and looks like they are doing you a favor.
–I was there this weekend to mail out a package. There must have been 10+ people waiting on line. 3 agents were working behind the windows. When it became my turn and I was called to one of the windows, the agent was reading a book that someone must have just given her and I was left there for at least 3 minutes waiting for her to finish reading before she would even look up to acknowledge me.
–I live within the 11 214 area code. Once my family and I were going on vacation for one week. We put in a request to hold our mail until we returned and specifically notated that we will go to the office to pick up our mail afterwards. Upon our return, not only was our mail not put on hold but we found a whole week’s mail jammed into our small mailbox.
–We always get notices at our home that our package could not be delivered because we were not home. How about the fact that we always have someone home but no one rings the bell to let us know we have a package?
No wonder the USPS is going out of business. They hire incompetent people to do the job. No one gives a damn about their work or the customers. I would rather pay more to use UPS and FedEx just for the better customer service.

JUST ABOUT THE WORST FACILITY ON THE PLANET… NO ONE has any idea what they’re doing. my building has ²⁴⁄₇ package acceptance office, yet, they drop off 2 packages and leave a note for a 3^rd ON THE SAME DAY. so i reschedule the delivery on the phone. no package. i reschedule online. no package. i call the the post office, the phone is always busy, no one answers. i call the usps 800 #, says no customer service is available ALL day today. THIS IS ABSURD !!! this is all for ONE instance, and swear i have this at least once a month since i get packages delivered for work all the time.

There is no one alive capable of infuriating me to the extent at which they do. I am home. As well as my boyfriend. He receives his package, and I ask the carrier if they have a package for me. He says no, but there is another truck en-​route. I smile and immediately take down a note stating what buzzer to ring (even this is listed in my shipping address. they are incompetent). 20 minutes later I check the status of my delivery. And much to my amazement, they CLAIMED to make an attempt and left a notice… at the SAME TIME WE RECEIVED OUR OTHER DELIVERY!!! There was no notice. Nothing… I am seeing red. Someone has to do something about this place. It is unacceptable!!!

The tellers here are not that attentive. It’s always a long line here and it takes a while to move when you’re on line. Last time I came here for my package, they could not locate my package even though it’s at the location. It’s just a hassle. I only come here because that’s the closest post office near me.

I recently had three packages I ordered from Amazon returned to sender because they said it was a bad address. That is impossible because my address is saved on
and I received the package with no issue after it was returned and I reordered it shipped to the same address. There must be a new or newly disgruntled employee there who doesn’t care. Or someone is being lazy and finding no one home, decides to return the package to sender rather than leave a note and reattempt delivery the next day. I recently paid for Amazon prime and this repeated annoyance is making switch to delivery to an Amazon locker otherwise what is the point of paying for two day shipping if it takes me four days to get my stuff?

If you’re getting a package delivered use another service. They attempted a home delivery once and never came again. This has happened often with my experience. Tracking the package online, it said that the package was ready for pickup at this post office. First, make sure that you CALL even if it says that it is ready for pick up. Call early or you will get a busy signal all day. When you call you will be transferred to the person in the packaging department. This particular person was rude and impatient when I didn’t understand why my package was still in transit when it said it was ready for pickup. Once you double check that the package is clearly there then you can go pick it up.
Some options to avoid this problem.
1) If you have a neighbor that is home most of the day you can leave a post it note with tape on the doorbell outside asking the postal worker to ring your neighbor.
2) Ship it to an address in a different district to avoid this post office that has better service.
3) Pay a bit more and use another carrier service as they will offer better customer service.

Hate this post office but I have no choice but to come here since it’s my local post office. The lines are ridiculously long and they never answer the phone. I request for pick up from my porch and they never came. I filed a complaint and for them to come the next day. The next day they marked the package as «picked up» when the package was still on my porch !!! I would give them zero stars if I could. And fire the whole management and to hire new ones who would actually do their job.

Well where to start first off its extremely hot in there with no air at all. You walk in and only one window for pick up of packages and each one takes about 5 – 10 min which tells me lack of organization and lack of work ethic in order to make the packages more accessible with much faster speed. Now secondly when you do miss a package try get a redelivery go online fill out there form and you know what they don’t bring it the next day. So now I fill out the form 3 times In order to make sure they bring it the next day. Couple months ago I waited 30 min for my package in order for them to say they lost it and they need there supervisor to look for it or declare it lost. Luckily they found it. SERIOUSLY I STOPPED ORDERING FROM ANYONE WHO USES THE USPS IN ORDER TO AVOID HEADACHES. And for Amazon I order it to a locker ⁷⁄₁₁ in order for it to be delivered. Everything is a mess there passport, the phone is never picked up and when they do they don’t want to do anything.
And finally it was snowing yesterday and I was inside all day and the delivery guy didn’t bother to ring the door bell or leave a notice anywhere. I checked my cameras and he didn’t even drive buy during the specified time. Are you kidding me. It’s truly unbelievable and really hate when i can’t avoid using usps. Hopefully staples will be able to get more control of usps in order for these post office either close down or improve. Hopefully everyone in his post office get fired and lose there pension because they defiantly didn’t earn it.

Horrible service, long lines. No organization and a staff just going through the motions. If anything just avoid. Best off just drop off your letter mail rather than get anything shipped or received from here.

I only give this place 3 stars because i have both pros and cons about this place.
PROS: Overall whenever i come at the time they open, there is a very short line. And as long as I have my pre-​paid labels, im out of there in seconds. Its a rather big place to give room to everyone being there. The guys at the pick up window are often very sweet and nice and even if my package isn’t back there just yet they calmly and nicely explain the situation. Many of them are sympathetic too and help to open the doors whenever i receive a heavy box.
CONS: The people at the windows are usually pretty nice, but are often clueless about some things. Some of them don’t know how a pre-​paid label works. There’s this one chinese guy (must avoid) that is very rude. He makes me pay for every little ounce (even if barely an ounce) and once tried to scam me into paying extra for my priority mail flat rate box (already pre-​paid).

I gave them a piece of my mind, as well as another customer. imagine the «do nothing» manager telling me to wait until after twelve for that damn package that should have been sent to my Manhattan PO BOX! I have to go to work today! If i get no service on Saturday, then let these idiots return it to the sender. I am not going to waste my precious time for this inconvenience much longer!

There really should be an option to give no stars. Giving it 1 star b/​c I have no choice.
The people who work here are MISERABLE!!! There are constant LOOOOOOONG lines and the management can’t be bothered with if there is an issue. They always take their sweet a$$ time with ANYTHING!
Before the readers start thinking that I’m ranting about a single issue… Let me tell you, I’ve been unfortunate enough to have to come back to this place even after moving almost 2 miles away, they say this is my post office… I’ve been frequenting this location for over 10 years to ship/​drop off packages and also to pick up packages.
Each and every time it’s a bad to worst experience. Yes, I’ve put in multiple official complaints to the USPS to no avail!
Oh, and don’t bother calling this location, they almost never pick up the phone or they take the phone off the hook. I’VE SEEN THEM DO IT IN PERSON. YES, THEY DON’T CARE THAT YOU CAN SEE THEM TAKING THE PHONE OFF THE HOOK!
BEWARE WHEN DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS LOCATION! ALLOW YOURSELF GENEROUS AMOUNT OF EXTRA TIME AND PATIENCE!

This is a horrible place, they didn’t give me the complete story when shipping a large package. I chose a very inexpensive shipping method, and they didn’t tell me they would ship it when they felt like.
Lines are very long, they are all very disgruntled, and mangers huff and puff when asking them for any service.
