Wayback Burgers

They close their doors before it’s actually time to be closed. Claims they close at 9, arrived 8:27 and the lights were shut off and door locked shut. Change your hours and don’t have customers waste their time driving all the way over there

I am starting my review and I didn’t even get my food yet. I ordered food from way back 2 hours ago and the food is still not here the wait time is crazy I am not satisfied and angry as hell. I am gonna order pizza and be happy with that at least they will be here within 30 mins.

They can’t seem to get anyone’s order right! I hope my burger looks and taste good or they are stuck at 2 stars. I can say this for sure Wayback stands for way long wait!

Ordered for delivery. Food came 2 hours later. The food was good but ice cold. Delivery took way too long. If this is Improved I would definitely order again. As it is now, never again!!!

Tried them out for a delivery last night. The burgers were on point. The chili cheese fries I went thru in 3 minutes. Can’t believe I just now found out about this place. The scheduled delivery was on time too. Better than Shake Shack IMO.

Ordered from here and was impressed all the way. Great food and the delivery was pretty fast as well. Definitely one of the better shops in the area. Thanks guys!

They take wayyyyy to long. Food is a above average when gotten hot. Only three stars because of the wait time.

The delivery service is awful. I placed an order on Grub Hub and I never received it. I waited for over 3 hours and I tried calling at first they said its coming soon. Still waited until I got impatient and was trying to cancel my order and no one was answering the phone. Very unprofessional.

I will never go back or recommend this place to anyone. Customer service ia extremely poor. I ordered a southwest tumbleweed burger and got a chipotle burger. The manager had the nerve to tell me i ordered a southwest chipotle burger. Where on the menu does it say southwest chipotle burger! On the menu it just says chipotle. Where do you think i got the southwest from smh!! southwest tumbleweed burger. Can’t you read your own menu! They need to know whats on there menu and listen to what people order. Don’t argue with the customer especially when you messed up and I also asked for 2 patties and I received only 1. Officially the worst place to eat on my book. If it were me I would give this place a negative star.

Burgers are good, but customer service is lacking. The workers need INTENSIVE training in how to treat customers. If a customer says that their order was messed up, your worker should not ask said customer «what do you want to do?» There should be some contingency plan in place for something like that. Do better!

The food here has changed. The fries aren’t crisp, the burgers are bland. Today was my last time eating from this establishment. It’s under new management… Not sure if that plays a part.

Arrived with my Rockstar early on a Monday afternoon to fuel up before our BJ’S run. As a first timer, I was excited by the bright and shiny posters of extra triple burgers and shakes and then became immediately disheartened. There was only one person running the whole joint-​griddle and register, which is OUTRAGEOUS and he was not a happy camper. Dude seemed really annoyed by the handful of us who were there to be served. I requested that my burger be cooked well done and I was told by the «cookshier» that they’re ALL well done in a tone that said, «Duhhh!» Well duhhh!, I should’ve known that a place so empty with so much customer potential due to location, couldn’t have been the greatest. Meh burgers. Onion rings laying in a puddle of grease. Watered down sodas in the machine. Boring ass Lite FM music. Never again.

The burgers were amazing, the customer service is supreme. It’s nice décor kind of reminiscent of the 50s. Seems like a family owned business they were very kind and respectful. It’s a bit of a wait so just don’t go when you’re extremely hungry & expecting a 2 min burger they just hit up… this is not McDonald’s folks their burgers are made from scratch! So be patient if you expect to taste greatness.

I like that they cook the burgers fresh with each order but I don’t like staff that don’t know the menu… sometimes I want to try something different and need guidance… this place is never crowded for a reason… takes forever but burgers do taste good, reasonable prices… just don’t come here when you are starving

I was impressed by my Jake’s burger. I was in the mood for a burger and not interested in it coming from the standard fast food restaurant with loads of unknown ingredients.
This is comparable to five guys in quality, taste and price. The burger is wide and in a smashed like form on a soft toasted potato bun (I think). You choose your own toppings and I recommend having fun with that. Jakes also serves turkey burgers and cod sandwiches, nice alternative to beef.
The fries need an overhaul, they were okay but not a fry that I went to with every bite of my burger. This store is clean and the staff was decent. And when I say decent they said «hello», «everything okay», «have a good night» and bought our food to the table. Way more than what you would expect elsewhere. This will be my go to spot for my burger fix.

Five guys has nothing on this place… except 5 guys. There was one person who took the order and cooked it. There was a bit of a wait but its worth it.
Yeah the burger (not pictured because it was devoured) pepper jack burger was on the small side but packed with flavor.
The irish nachos had loads of jalapenos which makes everything awesome.
The topper: oreo mud milkshake. Small, thick and divine… take that one however you want to interept it. It was awesome.
My suggestion… if you are patient this place is for you. If you want regular fast food with little quality go elsewhere.

There’s only 2 people here working so I I can see while other views stated them being understaffed. Luckily they aren’t busy today

In the middle of the day with only a handful of other customers (4). It took over 45 minutes to get my order. A burger w fries and small milkshake. This was the first and last time I will come here. The milkshake was a rip off. I paid $ 2.79 for a less then 8oz drink. The only reason I got the milkshake was because their fountain drink machine wasn’t working. So I couldn’t get the combo deal. I ordered a hamburger w bacon. It took them 3 tries before giving me what I paid for because they kept putting cheese on it.

Let me say this first. I would like this place to succeed, but I can’t imagine them lasting much longer if they don’t change.
Issues
1) Understaffed: When I was there for lunch, they had the griddle guy (who appeared to be the owner), and one other guy. The other guy was operating the register bringing the orders to the tables, and dressing the sandwiches. Either the griddle guy should handle all aspects of food perpetration or they need to hire a dedicated register person. I don’t want the person who is handling money touching my food.
2) Slow Service: It took about 15 minutes for a chicken sandwich, and they were not busy. Also the griddle guy was on his cellphone and cooking at the same time.
3) Random: I saw the griddle guy go into the freezer, take a veggie burger, and throw it into the deep fryer! Nasty! At least be discreet about it!
Overall
These are all easily correctable. I wish them luck, and hope they change, because the food was fine for what it was, and it seems like it could be a solid competitor for Five Guys Surprisingly good chili.

This is a dope little spot. To be honest I def wasn’t expecting this kind of burger joint in Canarsie because we don’t have places like this. Think Shake Shack and Good Burger, it is one of those vintage style burger restaurants. I ordered the veggie burger which was delicious with crispy cheese fries and a fresh strawberry milkshake. Man it was hella good! The décor was also old-​school, the place is super clean, and the plates are pretty unique; Steel plates with vintage newspaper style wrapping for the food. Very cute! I will go here again
