This place is stunning! The former home of The Williamsburg Savings Bank is one of the most amazing restorations of an old building that I have ever seen. Every detail… down to the door hinges… has been painstakingly made beautiful. I don’t know how they are going to make their money back… it had to cost millions to fix up both the inside and outside of the 1850’s gem! It is a great venue for television. They have their own lot next door for truck parking. Ramp access for easy load in. Two big rooms with breathtaking domed ceilings. This place is one huge WOW! The neighborhood is TV friendly too. Broadway is a nice wide street. Plenty of very good restaurants.

This is a remarkable gem for the city to celebrate! The interior space is stunning… layers of history restored pristinely. The main gathering space under the building’s domes are wonderful for an event. Acoustics were great at the Beaux Arts gala I went to recently: a stellar DJ accompanied by amazing projections done by designers throughout the city. The dichotomy of modern projections within a richly historic shell was so playful, everyone loved it. What was most fun is that during the evening, guests are invited to roam throughout the building, discovering smaller, more intimate spaces upstairs, a beautiful historic passenger elevator, and exquisite building details throughout like the old bank vault doors. The variety and authenticity of these spaces add another layer to the grand statement made in the main hall. Now, so well sited in bustling Williamsburg, it is fun to pop outside for some fresh air and drink in the energy of the streets it is on. A wonderfully terrific Brooklyn space, and a beautiful gem that the city can now truly enjoy.

After a long and hectic fashion week(I think I literally just recovered), I felt compelled to write this because one of my favorite things I experienced last week was this space. Its truly astonishing inside. Not just the domes(those are awesome, make sure to look up a lot), but the tiny details as well — from the original intercom system(yell into a pipe and someone hears it in a different room! What a concept!) to the toilet flushers(seriously…the bathrooms are like something Scrooge McDuck would have) on down to the amazing old elevator and insane vault door… its all been meticulously restored enough for even a philistine like me to take notice. Because of the look and feel of this place, its now in my top 5 favorite buildings in the city. I don’t think anything will un seat the great Radio City for me, but this is definitely up there. Go to an event, doesnt matter which one… even if its a contrived fashion week event full of boring people… just get inside and experience the space firsthand. It rules. Oh yeah, and reading the only other review here, I didn’t notice anything wrong with the sound. ?uestlove sounded just fine spinning in the dome… maybe that band just had bad sound because they sucked. It happens.
