Giving it one star because owner is rude and food is average… It is not by any stretch above average hoagie shop… Typical fare for delco just elevated prices. Dine in ok but again average ITALIAN restaurant. Don’t go out of your way to dine here. Cramped quarters. 2.nd review Ordered a dinner. No salad $ 3.50 extra?!. Forgot roll … Bolognese … No not really and burnt tasting. Giving up on this place. Rude man on phone!!!

Only ever ordered takeout from here, but the sandwich delivered by the guy in the van was mighty fine. The cured Italian meats were of the finer, restaurant variety — although I wish there was more of it – and the cheese was sharp and thinly sliced. Topped with lettuce, tomato, a dash of olive oil and oregano, and carefully wrapped, with clear plastic covering the toppings, and then swaddled in paper. A tasty, well-prepared lunch — will definitely be ordering from here again! Next to try: the fried calamari w marinara sauce.

Love this place for a Friday night dinner of pasta prepared well and served by a friendly staff. It’s our«go-to» place when we want a dinner with friends in a place that is not too loud and allows us to linger over our last glass of wine.

It took over two hours for my delivery to arrive. When it did, the stuffed shells were lukewarm at best and half of my order was missing. The driver was very nice and realized the desserts weren’t in the order and told me he would bring them back. As I unpacked the rest of the order, I realized my salad was missing as well. The food was good but make sure to check your order!

If you peruse the reviews here, you’ll see a trend: the owner and his employees could win a contest for the rudest, least congenial, subtly abusive staff of any restaurant in the area. The food is fine. Nothing out of the ordinary. The fact is, I could make a sandwich at home for 10% of the price I’m paying here. Part of eating out is enjoying the ambiance and the friendly feel of a place. In subtly abusing customers and driving us away, a silver lining emerges. We get the opportunity to branch out and discover and support new places.

Has to be one of my favorite spots outside of the city. You can’t go wrong with the pulled pork, sharp prov, and broccoli rab in the seeded roll. I always end up taking my order to go, but the vibe seems nice. There’s usually groups in there with BYO when I’m in there. They always keep things fresh too with the pasta specials on the board. You can never go wrong here.

We tried the chicken cutlet(with brocolli rabe and sharp provolone of course!) and vegetarian hoagies — the fillings were delicious, but the bread was not. .. and with hoagies and cheesesteaks you know the bread makes a difference. Their bread was a little too chewy, and the bread to filling ratio was a little too high — maybe it would help if they ripped out the stuffing a bit, like some delis do. This is a shame because the cutlets were tasty and the rabe was bright green, tender, sauteed in olive oil with a hint of red pepper flakes. The veggie hoagie had beautiful roasted red peppers, grilled eggplant, brocolli rabe, tomato and mozzarella. We also tried Soprano’s for dinner and thought it was very good, and extremely reasonable. I loved that I could order the eggplant parm with grilled eggplant instead of breaded. The portion was generous, piping hot with melted mozzarella and a perfect marinara, with a side of pasta that tasted fresh(not dried). The caesar salad was perfectly crunchy romaine with parmesan shavings and dressing served on the side. The dressing, unfortunately, was on the sweet side and not very caesar-like. Hubby was very happy with his penne with chicken, broccolli rabe and hot banana peppers. This is clearly more of a deli/caterer than a restaurant, and the tables are all part of the main deli-ordering area. A good place for a quick casual, inexpensive family dinner.

Huge menu, super friendly staff, and the owner makes a point to meet his diners! This is one of Broomall’s gems! We’ve tried everything on the menu and it’s all wonderful! Very consistant and delicious! Soprano’s is BYO and have specials very often(if not every night). If you’re like us and you’ve tried everything on the menu get the special, it’ll be more expensive, but entirely worth it! This is really where Soprano’s shines; the specials allow the chefs to be creative and really offer dishes that show off the quality ingrediants that are either seasonal or hard to find on a regular basis!

I’ve eaten here probably a hundred times, and a few themes start to emerge: 1.) Food is good quality, yes, but now some truths… 2.) Portions are small. I’m usually still hungry after eating here. 3.) Prices are very high. NYC level high. 10 – 13 dollar sandwiches?! That’s too high for suburban Philly. 4.) Owner who works the counter is not very personable or nice, not even if you’ve been there many times. Maybe he should make the food, and leave the customer service to someone else? Overall, it’s fine. I wouldn’t go out of my way for it. It’s high quality but too expensive and the portions are conservative. It’s so-so, overall, for those reasons.

Read my man Steve S’s review of this wonderful spot. Once again he nailed it! As did my other go-to Unilocaler — Steven B. Came here for a late lunch/early dinner today and am very happy I finally did stop in to eat there. First thing I had to ask the owner was this named for the TV show? He explained it was named for the singing range well before the HBO show was aired! But this is a place Tony, Carmella and the family would have enjoyed. I had the chicken parm — delicious — with an excellent side of spaghetti. My lady had the eggplant parm with a side of broccoli rabe which she loved. The bread was tasty, especially the garlic butter. Its a BYOB but we had a soda and an ice tea — will come back at dinner soon and bring a nice bottle of red. The menu is HUGE! And they do catering from New Jersey to Delaware. Wonderful people and excellent service. A wonderful spot I will add to my dining out rotation.

Others suggested this place. I wasn’t that impressed. Seating was tight and not very comfortable… the food was ok. not worth the $s

Visited: Tuesday — November 18, 2014 — 1:30PM I ordered decaf black coffee and the homemade Chicken salad with seeded soft roll and tomatoes — #11 on the menu. The chicken salad had onions, mayonnaise, and deep green shreds suggesting basil. Unfortunately, the sandwich was dry and tasteless. The crusty bread was very good but if I wanted a «Crusty Bread» sandwich, I would have ordered same! A light application of salt and pepper did nothing. It appeared that the cashier was preoccupied by a patron leaving the register as I approached to pay the bill. I indicated that I frequent Soprano’s and place my order with the employees behind the display case. I asked if that process was acceptable or should I sit at an open table and wait for a server? She provided a dismissive response without looking at me. Undeterred, I asked, «What was the green stuff in the chicken salad sandwich»? Again, she looked away, and angrily replied«now you want to know the ingredients of the sandwich? I did not respond. I’ve boiled, broiled, grilled, microwaved, braised, sautéed, and performed all types of cooking. I’ve made chicken salad often. Trust me, it’s quite good! I understand that the food business is challenging and demanding. That’s why my evaluation of eateries is normally rated 4 or 5 stars. A rating of less than 4 is reserved for businesses showing indifference or disrespect. I’ll never return!

The GF and I were house sitting in Newton Square — which is the ‘burbs for all you non-Philly folk. So we decided to get some takeout from Soprano’s Trattoria — highly rated in nearby Broomall, PA. Bowtie Pasta [$ 11.95] Chicken, broccoli rabe The bowtie were nicely al dente, but could have used a bit more seasoning on the pasta itself. The grilled chicken bits were a bit small, but were accented by garlic and oil. The bits of bitter broccoli rabe were nice — they provided additional hints of garlic. In typical Italian fashion, honey-oat wheat bread and a sesame-seeded roll were provided to complete our carbo-loading feast. Chicken Cutlet Sandwich [$ 8.95] Broccoli rabe, provolone The chicken cutlet sandwich was pretty good — the broccoli rabe was a nice bitter counterpoint to the sharp provolone and the abundant fried chicken cutlet. The bread was fresh, but something was missing to tie it all together — a sauce or some oil — it was drier than I would’ve liked. Onion Rings [$ 4.95] Now there are definitely no complaints about the house-made onion rings. Expertly fried, the onion still had a bit of bite without any of the after-taste. Better yet, these were not greasy at all — I could’ve easily eaten another order of these. Soprano Fries [$ 3.95] The Soprano fries were steak-cut and had some seasoning on them — Cajun? I couldn’t really tell because it wasn’t very pronounced. The fries were crisp on the outside and creamy within though. Chicken Wings As an added bonus, because our order was above $ 25, Soprano’s sent over 5 free chicken wings. While they weren’t as crisp as I normally like wings to be, they were substantial, well-seasoned, and juicy. The delivery guy was awesome — it was late at night and if you know how the ‘burbs are — finding houses are a bit difficult. He took the time to make sure our food got here regardless. While the food is closer to a 3, the service was a 5 thanks to him so that’s why this is a 4* rating. Soprano’s has a second location on South Broad at the Bellevue food court if you’re looking for American-Italian fare. Do get those onion rings!

Was looking for someplace to get a decent hoagie since the sad decline in quality of my local, go to place. After many years of driving by, I decided to stop here to satisfy my dining companion’s hoagie craving. They did not disappoint. The sandwich was fresh tasting and made with quality meats. I had a Soprano’s salad-spring mix with grilled eggplant, artichokes, feta with balsamic vinaigrette. Service was friendly and quick. I did not like the fact that the owners park in the handicapped space, thus one less star.

I’m not a cheesesteak fan in the slightest, I’m sure I’ll have my Philly Card revoked, but I’m big enough to admit it. I tried this place back in the late 90’s, early 00’s. I figured I’d give a cheesteak a try, and I’m so happy I did! The rolls are beyond fresh, they have the deli meats and cheeses right there, so it makes it that much fresher and the steak fries are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Also love the Italian desserts they offer and the bit of Italy feel they offer.

All restaurants need to take a handful of lessons from Sopranos. 1.) Consistency — many restaurants fail at this because of poor management and staff turnover. I’ve been eating at Sopranos since they first opened and not once has something tasted different from when I first had it. Always delicious! 2.) Large menu while maintaining good taste across all options — you can get anything from this menu. Mix and match all you want because everything taste amazing and goes with one another. 3.) Comfortable setting — I feel like I’m at my grandmas when I’m here. No rush, décor is perfect for what it is, warm and traditional. 4.) Location Location and Location — easy to get to and plenty of parking 5.) Last but not least… don’t try to be something your not — Sopranos sticks to what it knows. Delicious Italian cuisine, fresh deli, and you’re favorite fried foods. Favorites: — corned beef special — chicken parm — chicken fingers — fresh cut French Fries — classic italian hoagie — Greek salad

Always a great meal, we have eaten here many times since we first found them in 2005. They even catered the Italian part of our wedding cuisine. That is a pretty high recommendation. I leave off one star because we’ve had to wait a really long time on takeout, which is frustrating when you call ahead and are told a time but then have to wait double the time. The staff is really nice so I hate to complain. I’d just rather be told to show up in 20 mins and get my food right away as opposed to 10 mins and have to wait another 10. All in all, they have wonderful food and I recommend this place above the many other Italian places nearby(except Giuseppe’s; I have to give them a tie with Soprano’s). Soprano’s is closer to how they make food in Italy than Giuseppe’s, though. I would not say Soprano’s is just like eating food in Italy, but you can tell they pay attention to how food there is made and aren’t just a cheesy American spaghetti-and-meatballs type of place. There used to be a restaurant called La Strada in a stripmall in the Primos/Secane area, which was over-the-top phenomenal, EXACTLY like the best places we tried in Florence and Rome. Soprano’s is the closest we have found to La Strada since then, but in fairness, nothing will ever take the place of La Strada in my heart.

There are the Italian chain restaurants out there that kill you with fat laden portion sizes, oversized processed desserts, and all of the charm of a strip mall. This place is nothing like them. There are the Italian mom and pop joints in Delco which can be so hit or miss when it comes to quality. This place is far more consistent. There are the gourmet Italian places where in order to get good quality food, you have to pay out the nose. This place is far more reasonable. There are the take out pizza joints that just happen to serve Italian food but don’t specialize in it. This place is special. And there are the historic places in South Philly where all of the stars like Sinatra ate. No celebrities are ever going to find their way out here unless they’re local. Basically, this place is a great hybrid of everything good about the places above, and none of the bad of a lot of those places. There are a few things you can tell about this place. They care about the taste of their food. They care about using quality ingredients. They’re not pretentious at all. They can put together a quick take out meal just as easily as a fine sit down entrée. I hadn’t been here for years before this week. After trying them again, I can’t understand why I wouldn’t have come back here sooner. I guarantee I’ll be back again. I got the Italian Tuna hoagie, and this sandwich is every bit as good as what they’re serving at Cut Above up the street, which is the local standard bearer. Plus, I picked up a dozen mini cannollis here which made everyone who had one very happy. Stop driving past it and go in.

This is a great lunch spot that is off the radar in my mind. I have driven past this place many times and the parking lot is always empty, making me think that the food is not very good, boy was I wrong. Do yourself a favor and pull in next time, you will not regret it. They have all sort of sandwiches and salads along with pasta dishes. I went here after hearing WIP’s Glen Macnow talking about their Roast Pork Sandwich. Boy was I not disappointed. The pork was shredded and succulent. The roll was awesome as well. The best pork sandwich in the suburbs. While we were waiting we noticed on the menu they had a fried ravioli sandwich. It was not what I expected but it was a good meal. They didn’t bread the ravioli, I think they just fried it and covered it with sauce and cheese on a roll, however I probably would not order it again, but at least I tried it. Go for the pork, trust me! They are open for Dinner as well. They are also a BYOB! Whenever I want a good lunch Soprano’s now crosses my mind. Give them a try, you will be thanking all the other Unilocaler’s who gave it such high marks!
