I’ve been here many times on my treks upstate and have never had any problems because regardless of the tune of year, or the temperature(it’s currently 3 degrees and snowing outside), this tends to be a great stop. There are very large and spacious bathrooms that can fit numerous people with a bunch of toilets and urinals for guys and undoubtedly many stalls for the ladies, though I of course haven’t seen those firsthand. They also have a bathroom area that caters specifically to the handicapped. They also have a police precinct section, just in case something goes down, or you have questions for law enforcement that aren’t quite fit for the regular help desk. They have a sit down area in the food court, hotel savings booklets for nearby hotels, a phone available for lodging reservations, and also a sitting area with benches by the windows. There are also vending machines for snacks or coffee, along with the coffee, tea, and various snacks that are available for purchase in the food court. So while the food court only allows for card payments, with no allowances for cash or coins, the vending machines of course, do allow for cash and coins, so they’ve really covered all the bases here!

A saving grace of a rest spot when you’re in mile number five bajillion on a ride along Rt 81. Nothing particularly special, but it has clean bathrooms, vending machines, and space to walk around(indoors or out) and stretch your legs. There’s plenty of parking to accommodate a crowd, but since this isn’t a major area of restaurants or coffee shops, I doubt there’s ever a huge crowd at once. There’s an information area, but it’s not a 24⁄7 operation. I’m guessing it’s more or less open during business hours but again just guessing.

NY State Gateway Travel Plaza is a nice little rest stop. They have picnic areas and the grounds are neat. They have a vending machine area whose machines are ran by a nonprofit(for the blind, I believe). They also have a tourist information area which provides useful tips about all things New York(hello, Cayuga wine trail!) Their bathrooms are clean but my gripes are the cold running water and lack of toilet liners. Other than those, though, their bathroom is a good place to take care of nature’s calls. Welcome to New York!

Nice stop. Info desk. Kids area. Nice surroundings. Vending machines. Clean restrooms This is a great stop. No gas or restaurants here. Large area with info on NYS. And live people to answer questions too. Great rest stop. Reminded me of some I experienced in Wyoming.
